Brake Sensor Problems of Ford Expedition

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Expedition el. The contact was traveling 20 mph when the vehicle failed to stop when the brakes were depressed. The stability control warning light was illuminated during the failure. The failure and current mileages were 54,000. Updated 07/02/12 the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired by a local Ford dealer on June 25th. The steering angle sensor which generated the steel wheel position data input for the roll stability control system was identified as faulty . It appeared, the roll stability control system malfunctioned and disabled the brakes. Updated 07/05/12.

My vehicle was involved in an accident while coming into a cub to get onto the freeway the vehicle in front of me made a suddend stop in an emergency panic I hit my brakes and my Expedition never attempted to stop. As I explained to two of officers on the scene I was standing on my brakes and it would not stop. The following business day I was given information from my insurance company there was a rash of problems with the brakes on this particular model. Following the repairs the dealership kept my vehicle for 3 weeks trying to figure out what happened to my brake and discovered from the computer there was a problem prior to me having the accident. The day I went to pick it up after three weeks in the shop for brakes alone again I was put into my fourth rental vehicle because the truck never left the shop. Today my brakes still will not stop properly and to top it off after giving Ford a copy of the recall for the brakes, sensors, and transmission by the way of which the dealership has supposedly adjusted prior to the accident I still got stuck with the repair bills. I talked with a certified Ford brake specialist the day I got my vehicle from the shop and explained what happened, what the dealership said and did as well as my brakes still go to floor but not to my suprise he told me it was not right and needed to go back because the vehicle still in not safe to drive but the dealership insist these brake are suppose to be soft and squishy as the shop foreman told me. There is a serious problem with this vehicle and unfortunately it is my only mode of tranportation and I can't afford to trade it or get another at this time but serious safety issues do exist.

This vehicle has had "no brakes" on numerous occasions. When we took it in to our local Ford dealership for the first time on 10-7-98, we were told because they cannot duplicate the problem, we have no problem. When it was taken in on 1-27-99 to our local Ford dealership they called the manufacture this time to find out if any other Expeditions might of had this same sort of problem and was advised "no". They decided because it had the same brake system as another Ford vehicle to change the front sensors. When I went to pick the vehicle up from them, I was told by the service manager that I should drive with the anticipation that the brakes could go out at any given time. They were not sure that this fixed the problem. Well low and behold the brakes went out again, this time a solo accident with this vehicle with "no brakes". We were very lucky no other vehicles were involved as someone would definitely have gotten killed. This vehicle definitely poses a high safety risk to the roads and highways it is driven on.
