36 Cruise Control problem of the 2002 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 08/28/2009

My Ford Expedition 2002 was recalled for fire hazard due to the cruise control. I had the repair done at mccoy mills Ford in fullerton CA. And a few weeks later my car burst into flames in my driveway while parked. The car was totaled and now I do not have a car and can not buy any thing comparable for the 12,000 the insurance paid. I believe Ford owes me the difference because I followed the rules and had the car "repaired" by them. What should I do now?.

38 Cruise Control problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/07/2009

My 2000 Ford Expedition caught on fire while parked in my drive way (which is a total loss). The vehicle had not been in use for about a day before it caught on fire. The vehicle was parked so close to the garage door that if I were not out side at the time of the fire I would of probably seen my house burn down as well. The garage door although sustained some damage. After the fire was put out by the fire dept. I was asked if there were any recalls on the vehicle. When the VIN was checked on Ford website it turned out that the vehicle had a recall on the cruise control switch which we were never notified of. Not only were we not notified but no were on their recall did it say of the damage it could cause. I found out by internet research that if it is not replaced it could cause under the hood fire.

44 Cruise Control problem of the 2002 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/23/2008

I bought my Ford Expedition (2002) brand new, have always been the registered owner and have never received a recall notice for the vehicle. My Ford Expedition caught fire at our family medical facility (rancho bernardo) after an hour of being off and parked. The medical facility announced a car on fire with description and I ran outside and called 911 but fire department responded as I was still on the phone. Thanks to the lightning speed of rb fire there was no damage to anything except my vehicle. The firefighters on the scene told me that they suspected the cruise control switch. It only burned inside the engine compartment - in front of the driver side. An independent fire investigator determined after completing his investigation that the vehicle fire was due to a faulty cruise control switch and brake fluid had leaked into the electrical circuit that is always on for the cruise control. The vehicle was still declared a total loss by my insurance company due to high repair estimates. On 8/5/2008 my insurance company purchased the vehicle from me for a little over the kbb private party value due to recent vehicle add-ons I provided receipts for. My insurance company waived the deductible. My family (3 people) was down to 1 car for a little over a month and we all work and go to school. On several days I had to get a rental car and did not have insurance to cover these costs and have not been reimbursed for the days I had to rent a car.

My car was gutted, it also totaled the car next to it and most of my garage went up in flames! Ford should be required to send out serious recall notices to all owners ASAP! people are dying. . . 58 Cruise Control problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 10/24/2007

Our 2000 Ford Expedition spontaneously combusted in our driveway after sitting for 2 days. It was determined to be the cruise control switch. I am appalled that congress is so upset at Toyota when Ford knows that 11 million vehicles have these faulty cruise control switches and has done nothing to get Ford to take responsibility. Our house was completely destroyed and my wife and 2 dogs escaped with their lives. The same day in a neighboring community another family's house was burned down by a 2001 Expedition with the same problem. Why are you so critical of a foreign company and so ambivalent to a domestic car company with a history of defects that they do not take responsibility for? these vehicles are still exploding and killing people and yet I do not hear any outrage over this.
