Repeated failure of brake pads and rotors, front and rear, left and right, after normal replacement of original brakes at 35k (front) and 43k (rear) miles. Rotors are warping every 3-8000k miles, resulting in extreme vibration and extended stopping distance during braking. This with discs wearing excessively, resulting in blackened rims after less than 1000 miles of driving. Since December 2001 (20k miles), brakes and rotors have been replaced 5 times. My driving habits have not changed during this period. Problems only began after replacment of original brakes. Dealer is now insisting I pay for all repairs. Which would mean a complete brake job every 2 months other complaints of this nature exist. (ie, odi #'s 766490, 722010, 753303, 8012462, 764972).
Front brakes drag. Consumer took vehicle to dealer, and they replaced rotors and other parts. Please provide any further information.

Failed annual veh. Inspection due to defective front brakes. Cause of failure extremely heavy rust in hub area that spread onto the outside rotor surface heavily damaging the rotor surface and brake pad. This was not a wear & tear situation as the inside pad and rotor were not damaged & showed no abnormal wear. Mechanic reported seing this problem on a number of low-mileage Ford Explorers. He felt that this amount of rust was due to a defective casting.

While driving the brakes suddenly malfunctioned, technician told the consumer that all four brake rotor had to be replaced, the consumer found the brakes to be in an excessively deformed condition. Nlm.

Rotors have been turned 3 times. Dealer has reported that high pitched squeal is common from factory. Brake pads replaced twice, front calipers replaced last visit.
Disc brake pads separarted from plate and fell off vehicle, e-mailed Ford said its a dealer problem even though these are factory installed brakes with only half of their useful service used. I have two e-mails to Ford online owner connection which didn't want to know about a factory defective part.
Tire worn in the inside, in patches all around. Second layer of rubber was showing. ( dot number: vn tire size: p235/75r15 ).
In the first 25 days I owned and operated my Explorer, I experienced 4 incidents of brake malfunction. In all four of the incidents, I was traveling at slow or moderate speeds. In the two instances where the failure occurred while I was traveling forward, I was traveling at 15-25 mph and was attempting to slow and not come to an immediate stop. I did not lose brake pedal pressure. The vehicle did not respond (did not slow) to my pressing the brake pedal. In the two instances where I encounted brake failure in reverse, I was traveling at 5 mph and experienced no loss of brake pedal pressure. In the 4/24 incident, I was attempting to parallel park. As I backed into the spot and attempted to slow before stopping, I braked, but the Explorer did not slow or obviously stop. I had to put the car hastilly in "drive" to avoid hitting the parked car behind me. Again, I was only trying to park at 5 mph or less, but the brakes did not slow the vehicle like they do normally.
Vehicle experienced front end vibration . Problem occurred at take off or slow down speed. Been inspected by three different dealers, and informed that nothing could be found. Also resurfaced front brake rotors and pads.
Front brakes failed.

The brake pedal is too close to the accelerator pedal. In a panic stop situation, the drivers foot will depress the brake pedal fully and at the same time open the throttle over halfway, engine revs to nearly 3,000 rpm. I have nearly wrecked this truck on five different occasions. If one is a right foot heel and toe brake operator with a normal size adult shoe, this serious problem will happen. This has occurred since the vehicle was brand new.
While driving 70 mph and when brakes are applied vehicle vibrates severely, causing loss of control. Cause unknown. Please give any further details.
