The vehicle has a �wake up� noise unlike any other that Ford can show me. Once you open the drivers door, it make an extremely loud metal grinding noise under the hood in the abs area. After you drive the vehicle and park it, it does it by itself 30 mins later then again once you open up the door again. Also, the break pedal and breaks lock in place at times when going from park to drive or reverse. Not immediately, but once you start to move causing the vehicle to violently jerk. The �crash warning� for a vehicle stopping short in front of you also goes off by itself without anything at all in front of you causing the alarm to sound and the vehicle to break on its on. This happens a various speeds but especially on the highway. All of these issues have been happening since I purchased the vehicle brand new in may of 2020.

07/25- had recall ordered- toe link on both sides, rear. Performed at harrisonburg Ford, va. ; 09/04 driving on route 33 in va, mountain road. Heard grinding noise coming down mountain, noise steadily increased and began to feel like a loss of control. Slowed down and a mile from shop the noise stopped. Went to rice tire in va and had it checked. The bolt holding toe link on right side had dislodged nearly completely. Had it replaced and told to go to Ford to re torque both sides. ; 09/05 went to Ford. Was informed that mechanic had hand torqued the bolts, essentially misread instructions. Manager actually stated that they were going to have to call many other customers to re torque their toe links correctly as well. I asked for alignment as well, because this problem would surely affect balance and alignment, this was performed as well. They billed it to recall warranty dept. ; 11/6 driving on 25 in colorado springs 65 mph, traffic stops and as I break heavily I lose control and vehicle hops a lane. No accident. ; 11/07 take vehicle to Ford to check toe links, was told both nuts were loose, left and right, the knuckle on one side has snapped the brakes are bad, rotors and back 2 tires are bad. . I specifically asked , says that this is all related. The front brakes are worn as well, clearly from compensation of driving with bad toe links. I was told specifically yes this is all related. Ford recall manufacturer refusing to cover toe links as well as all associated damage, totaling over $3k. I have never had any issues with vehicle and perform regular maint on tires brakes and rotars, etc. And within 3 months of recall I have had 2 life threatening incidents and complete ruination of my vehicle safety, and alot of damage incurred. Receipt of recall on 11/25 stating everything related is green. No way this damage is not associated to "new, safer" toe links.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving, a grinding noise emitted from the front passenger side wheel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the front passenger side brake caliper failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. My 2013 Explorer has 23190 miles and was bought new and has been serviced at the dealer according to Ford's service plan since new. A few days ago I noticed a grinding noise and burning smell from the rear of my Explorer. The dealer told me that my drivers side rear caliper had seized up and I needed new rear brakes. He said that this was due to road salt, water and debris contaminating the rear brakes. He also told me that this was not warranty covered and my cost was $389. 84. I've read in numerous forums that this is a problem on most Explorers like mine. I feel that this could be a safety issue if it happened at highway speeds. Luckily mine happened when I was parking my Explorer. This should be covered under an inspection replacement recall.

Main problem at the moment is a clicking, knocking noise that sounds like is coming from underneath truck in the middle. You can feel truck shake/vibrate when you hear the noise. Previous problems lug bolts came loose and almost cause tire to fall off. Other problem truck started off sounding like the brake pads were going then the truck started making a horrible grinding noise . Felt like the engine was going to fall out. Ended up being front passenger side tire. Rim had stattered.

Both rear brake calipers are seized. I noticed the problem only when the brake pads had worn down to metal on metal and were causing a grinding noise. I've owned the vehicle for less than a year and bought it from a dealership.

I was on vacation and I started to get a very loud grinding noise from the rear brakes every time I started I had to put the brakes on. I decided to end the vacation early and headed home. Before I got home I had to stop at a Ford dealer about 300 miles from home. The guy at the dealer test drove the car and then inspected the brakes. He told me the rear brakes pads and rotors had to be replaced because they were worn to metal on metal. I had them fix the rear brakes for $324. 13. He lubed the calipers and since then I have had no problem. I think the brakes should last longer than 30,550 mile on a $46,000 vehicle.
While driving on the freeway and applying my foot on the brakes the vehicle failed to stop. Abs, traction control and a wrench light came on. Grinding noise came from the vehicle. This incident happened while driving my wife and newborn home from the hospital. After taking it to a shop, the mechanic noticed that the tone ring or abs ring was cracked. This must be replaced in order for the vehicle to have functional brakes. The shop told me that the abs ring had a different part number and the material was much thicker than the old ring.

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Explorer. In March of 2006, the vehicle made a grinding noise. The vehicle was taken in for service at least 8 or more times between March of 2006 and October of 2006. In October of 2006, the brakes failed and the contact rear ended another vehicle at 25 mph. She woke up in the emergency room due to injuries she sustained. A police report was filed. The contact has documentation that she will mail in pertaining to the failures. The failure mileage was unknown.
I was approaching a stop sign and began to brake, when the brake pedal started to make a grinding noise and then went all the way to the floor. I began to pump the brake and luckily enough I stopped before entering the intersection. If there would have been a vehicle in front of me, I would have hit them because the brakes would not work. I called the Ford dealership where I purchase the Explorer and they had me call road assistance to pick up my vehicle. Of course, they were not able to "duplicate" the problem. I was told that the abs probably locked up because the street may have been wet, which it was not. Then they said that maybe I was on a gravel or dirt road, which I was not. I was told to keep an eye on it and if it happens again to call roadside assistance and they will look into it again. If there is a next time, I hope there will not be anyone injured.

Consumer took vehicle to the dealership to have the brake pads replaced on July 15, 2002, however while on her way home there was still a rubbing/grinding noise, consumer returned to the dealership on July 23, 2002 because of the continuing noise, but the technician stated he could not find a problem, consumer returned again because the noise had become worse, the vehicle was making a noise whether the brakes were being applied or not and was very apparent at 30 mph, consumer then received a call from the dealership stating that they had possibily ruined the bearings when the rotors were being turned, consumer was also informed that the rotors were improperly machined and if they were to re-cut them it would take them out of regulation thickness, consumer is seeking reimbursement for the rotors, because they were not needed until they were machined improperly.

When appyling brakes vehicle severely pulls to right. Also, a grinding noise occurs, cause unknown. In less than 15000 miles, brakes have been replaced 3 times, was told by dealer that this was due to a factory defect and brakes were applied incorrectly. Tire experienced blowout, there was a large deformed air pocket on the white letter side, consumer did not give any tire information.
While driving, a grinding noise can be heard and the brake pedal has to depressed almost down to the floor to stop the vehicle. The dealer has attempted to repair the brakes six times; cause of problem has not been determined. Please provide further details.
Was driving vehicle and had to jam on brakes when another vehicle cut in front. Abs system locked up. Prior to locking up, had 3 sets of brakes, and 2 sets of rotors replaced. Third time heard grinding noises on right front wheel. Sounded like metal to metal. Driver side rotors were shot due to brakes locking up. At dealership, nothing was found wrong.
