I already submitted one complaint today about the cabin filling with exhaust fumes while accelerating but then I was reading other issues people were having and wanted to ensure you were aware of mine as well. I had to have the cooling fans replaced because they would come to a screeching halt when you would shut the motor off. I had to have the inside of the power lift gate repainted where the motor and shock are located because the paint was cracking. The center caps on the wheels are falling in so those are going to be replaced. It is now rusting on the back of my car by the rear tail light. The hood vibrates really bad when going over 65 mph. I haven't taken it in for that yet because I can't get it to do it all of the time. It has to be windy for it to happen to me. The front door black trim pieces on the outside started to bubble so those had to be replaced. The only safety concern is the hood vibrating. The rest are just fyi's as they seem to be common problems. I bought this car brand new in November 2015 and it has had problems since the 1st month.

I recently bought a 2014 Ford Explorer. I've been noticing an exhaust leak/smell that leaks into the cab of the vehicle. The first time I noticed the smell was after accelerating on to the highway at about 3500-4000 rpm. It seems to get worse every day. As soon as the vehicle starts I smell it. The only time it goes away is when I'm cruising with the windows cracked and the heat turned down. As soon as I come to a stop or slow down from highway speeds I immediately get the smell in the cab. Worried about carbon monoxide or any other toxic fumes entering the vehicle.

I get a strong smell of rotten eggs when driving. It only happens when I drive for a long time. My back hatch is cracking in 3 or more spots I am afraid that it will probably fall off and cause damage to someone driving behind me.

I purchased my vehicle as a used car coming off of a lease at a certified Ford dealership. The vehicle now has 31000 miles. The factory warranty ended 10/2016. I first noticed this problem late 12/2016. The vehicle exhibits a strong exhaust odor in the passenger cabin during all times of operation. The odor is much stronger when the vehicle is stationary (I. E. , idling at a traffic light) and is very strong during and immediately after hard acceleration. It seems as though the exhaust odor is actually coming through the vehicles ventilation system. The exhaust odor often leaves me feeling sick if I do not crack open the windows for fresh air. I have called my dealership (miller Ford, mount holly, NJ) and explained the problem. The dealership acknowledged having previous similar complaints and stated that there was a service bulletin designed to address the issue. However, since my vehicle is no longer under warranty, the cost of the repair would not be covered. I now have been driving the vehicle for approximately 3 months, enduring these exhaust fumes. I feel that this is a serious safety issue that could adversely affect my health and the safety of others if I were to become overwhelmed by the exhaust's CO. I cannot afford to just stop operating this vehicle and buy another.

We were driving down I-95 north in south carolina and all of a sudden we hard a loud pop. It sounded like we blew a tire. When we got out to look, the front passenger door window had a crack in it. The crack continues to grow, traveling down from the center of the top of the window towards the car frame by the side view mirror. You can barely feel it on the outside of the window and on the inside you can't feel it at all.
When driving, passenger door window cracked when going from hot to cold temperatures. Ford refuses to fix it.
Exhaust fumes coming into the cabin while in motion. I noticed this issue when we bought the car in 2015. I complained to Ford in December 2016 and was told that I have to pay to have the hoses rerouted so that the exhaust fumes don't come into the cabin. I called Ford again today and once again they told me I had to pay to fix this issue. I drive with my windows cracked or opened due to my concern of the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning while driving the car by myself or with my children as passengers.

Went to the dealer complained about front end noise also fumes in cabin they fixed the steering rack I asked them about the fumes they told me to use premium gas. This was in July 2017 with 11500 miles now in sept still 'll ing with fumes and steering noise coming back. Dealer is koppel the odor came up the same month I bought it with 900 miles on it like all of us I thought we had to break it in.
I bought the car in September of 2015 and noticed upon hard acceleration such as entering the interstate or passing a car there is a smell of exhaust that comes into the cabin area and in order to relieve the smell the windows need to be cracked a little bit and this only happens upon hard acceleration. I have not had this experience with any other vehicle. I have also had problems with the transmission but they cannot seem to figure out when accelerating between 20 and 40 miles per hour you feel a shift in the transmission which for a new vehicle is a bit odd. At 10,000 miles I had to have a stabilizer bar in the front and replaced I notice a lot of heavy clunking as I drove my car around and this seems to be the problem. I I have also had issues with the headliner coming out on the driver side front door this is been pushed in and replaced 3 times and it's working on its fourth time. The issues with the transmission and the exhaust fumes in the cab and have yet to be resolved. Bought the vehicle brand new and have had it in for repairs more than 15 times, the dealership says the exhaust is fixed but fumes still emit into cabin.

Rear panel cracked without collision or incident rear glass of lift gate exploded upon closing in my driveway, while parked, on Saturday 4/9/201 I knew nothing of a pending class action lawsuit or the defect being complained about by so many Explorer owns from the years of 2002-2005 Ford changed the problem piece after 2005 however they never recalled the lift gate or rear panel insurance will not cover it Ford will not recall or replace it there is glass everywhere and I do not have 500+ dollars to replace it. This was a defect that should be replaced by Ford!.

We have a exhaust smell in the cabin area when the vehicle is running, mostly when the climate control is operating and more so when the rear air is in operation. We have reported it to our local dealer (future Ford of roseville CA. ) and they have done nothing for the problem. We try to drive with the windows cracked open as if you dont we get burning sensation in the eyes and other irratations from it. We have also tryed to trade off the vehicle and have been offered less than half of what the vehicle blue books for . We would like this problem addresed.
When accelerating or in motion for a period of time, the cabin gets an exhaust smell. When tested for carbon monoxide, there were 26 ppm with the windows up and the a/c blowing. On 1 occasion, 2 passengers in the back seat became ill. When thy exited the car, they felt immediately better. We have returned this vehicle 3 times to the dealer without successfully fixing the issue. The vehicle must have the windows cracked at all times to keep the exhaust smell out.
I bought a 2006 Explorer in 2010 and in 5 years I have had a sensor that's goes inside the transmission replaced, then transmission rebuilted, and the radiator replaced twice. Now that it's paid off leaking coolant again making it run hot. Now it saying check the charging system and stop on me on the freeway and now won't stay started. Thought I was doing everything right with the maintenance of the truck but it keeps breaking down. Also the wrench thing is on and won't stay started even while pressing the gas pedal to the floor all after I just had another sensor replaced. And besides the radiator leaking again that plastic thing they call a thermostat housing may be cracked. I feel I'm spending more money repairing things on this truck in 5 years that most people spend on a new car. If I had seen all the problems this model year was having would have went a different brand.

I have goodyear fortera p245/65r17 105t tires as oem on this vehicle. The tread has dry rotted cracks just like the tires recalled in 2015. The first sign of problem was tire light coming on. Why are these tire being recalled also?.
Cpsc: i15c0225a: 2015 Ford Explorer: consumer stated the fuel line was cracked.
My car was parked in front of my residence on the street, it had not been driven that day. The back window in the tailgate exploded, causing damage to the tailgate. No one was driving it, it had not been touched that day. There was a prior crack in the tailgate which I have seen on other Explorer's, and since learned that it is a defect in the care.
The brackets connected to the liftgate released while the car was parked and locked and blew the back liftgate panel out along with shattering the glass.

2 vertical cracks in upper rear hatch below window.
My rear hatch in the back of my Explorer has a crack in it. Which I think has caused the back window to shift which in turn has caused my door ajar light to flash while the door chimes go off and the interior flicker while you are driving down the road but there are no doors open . The lights flickering make it hard to drive in the night. I think Ford should fix this problem for everyone.
There is a reported issue about an exhaust leak inside cabin for Ford Explorer 2011+ and I found a solution for this issue. I tried to report this to Ford but there is no luck, and Ford ignored me. The issue is not from the back door or back of the vehicle, it's actually from the front. There is two issues actually who causing this, one is the hood rubber that located near to fresh air intake, I filled a silicon all over underneath the rubber and the issue almost gone 92%, a also covered the fresh air intake with duct tape and it's completely gone, but the duct tape is not the solution. The other issue is there is a leak from the engine side which causing the exhaust to fill the engine bay and the smell finds a way to leak inside cabin through fresh air intake from the front. Since a alot of Ford Explorers has been reported they have a cracked manifold this explain why this happening. And Ford is still looking in the wrong place to fix this issue I made this video on youtube to explain. . Read more...
Cracked rear hatch. I had heard about this problem and my hatch didn't crack till after this cold winter. But, this is the first winter that this Explorer has been kept outside, not garaged. My garaged is under my house and insulated. It never gets below freezing in the garage. I called Ford and asked them if they can help financially with the repairs. They said no.
Rear panel cracked in the shed. I have had to replace my transmission a year ago replace front hubs several times. And just last week I had to replace the back wheel bearing again. I don't understand why Ford has not done a recall on these things. I see a lot of Fords with the same crack on the back hatch. This is just crazy. If I new we couldn't check transmission fluid I would have never got this truck. I will never buy a Ford again. We also have a 1994 diesel that we had to put a transmission in at 80,000 miles it sits in the shed and now my husband drives a chevy. Our Ford diesel only has 134,000 on it what asham. It will not even crank when its cold. Bad work Ford!!!!.
The back tailgate panel has a crack beside the Ford logo. Looked on line and saw this is a listed problem with 2005 Explorers. Called Ford they were no help.

Leaving work at end of day, pulled out of parking space and rear glass shattered. The edges of the back hatch pulled away from the truck and curled up causing the glass to blow into the truck. A crack in the plastic of the hatch (which I have seen on many of this year model) has not been recalled and I have emailed Ford many times about this problem for fear of water getting in behind the panel. My belief is that water did get behind the panel and that is what caused the plastic panel to pull away and blow in the glass. Luckily my children were not sitting in the 2nd or 3rd row seating or this would have been a much larger problem. I believe Ford should have this problem addressed and recalled before someone gets seriously hurt from that flying glass.
In the middle of the rear panel under the rear glass near the rear wiper cracks. The first time we paid to have the panel replaced. Because we were concerned that the glass would come loose causing an accident. Less than 18 months and the cracks have reappeared only now there are two cracks in the same location. We have seen multiple cars on the road with this same crack. The dealer says they have seen as well. Called Ford regarding this issue. However, Ford refuses to acknowledge that there is a default in the panel which can causes the rear glass to fall out causing serious accidents.
While driving 60 miles an hour during rush hour the gas pedal disappeared. The bracket that attaches to the firewall became separated and I lost all ability to accelerate. I was able somehow to get across 2 lanes of traffic and park on the shoulder of a major interstate.

Crack in rear lift gate panel that led to shattered rear window upon normal closing.
I have a 2014 Ford Explorer sport and whenever the vehicle accelerates it severely pulls to the left. The vehicle with track straight until you step on the gas and it pulls severely to the left requiring me to compensate by while driving. I advised the dealership on 10-8-14, 10-18-14, 12-4-14, on a March oil change with Ford, 1-7-15 and 5-18-15. The dealerships initially denied the car had any issues that were abnormal but eventually they admitted it does pull to the left but it was normal according to the Ford engineers and nothing could be done to correct it since it was a natural characteristic of the vehicle. I did not agree since I have driven other vehicles of the same make and model that did not perform the same as my vehicle does. I also spoke to various Ford service technicians that indicated they had never encountered this issue and they assumed that it couldn't be torque steer since the intelligent 4 wheel drive should correct any wheels that were not spinning at the same speed as the others causing the vehicle to pull in one direction or the other. However, the dealership indicated they could only go by what the corporate engineers advised them and that was that the issue was normal despite the vehicle being rated for a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. I also haven't been given an explanation on why the left tires on my vehicle are worn out only on the outside of the tire exactly in the direction the car is pulling to. The sever pulling to the left is not a minor think and the car will move by the feet to the left veering out of the lane unless I compensate while steering, yet it drives absolutely straight if I let off the gas and I can't imagine towing anything behind this vehicle with these abnormal driving conditions.
Back tailgate panel was cracked (defect) and the back window just exploded when the tailgate was open.
Upon opening the rear glass hatch, the passenger side of the hinge broke when fully open and the window fell down, hitting me in the head. The panel below on this same window to the left of the Ford logo plate had also cracked about 6 months ago.
Rear glass lift gate: cracks appeared in the rear hatch on both sides of the rear Ford logo. ( I now notice many Ford Explorers with same cracks). Top right glass hinge twisted significantly and top left glass hinge twisted slightly. The fastening bolts for both glass hinges are rusted through. This resulted in the rear glass window shifting, apparently causing the cracks in the tail gate. I contacted sunshine Ford's service dept. In newburgh, NY and was told Ford is not responsible for fixing/replacing this defect. They chose their words carefully. They emphasized that "my model year" was not recalled for this defect. I asked if "any" Explorers had a recall for this defect. They would not say; but instead repeated,"my model year" was not recalled for this defect. Nhtsa has already received consumer complaints of injuries from owners whose lift gate glass broke off its mounting hinge while open, and caused head injuries. It is only a matter of time before a rear lift glass panel detaches from an Explorer in motion on a highway. That could easily lead to a multi vehicle accident along with multiple fatalities. I checked and Ford had a similar part recall for 2002 & 2003 Explorers. Ford changed the part then and has not met the # of complaints to be forced to recall 2004 and up Explorers. Unfortunately, I think many Explorer owners check with the dealer as to whether or not there was/is a recall and give up upon hearing no. We need to get anyone we know with this problem to file a complaint with the NHTSA. It is only a matter of time before some innocent person dies as a result of this "known" defect! as I understand it, this is a known defect for which Ford is not willing to take responsibility. Ford should fix this problem at no cost.
When accelerating from a stop, the bracket that suspends the accelerator pedal broke free from the firewall (it was tack welded in several spots). This caused an immediate loss of power. Luckily I was leaving my residence with no traffic behind. If I had been accelerating via on ramp to highway with vehicles right behind me might have been a different story. Local garage repaired ($47. 50) by drilling holes and reattaching with bolts. According to "serious explorations" users group, not an uncommon problem.

On February 18th I noticed a crack in the rear glass lift gate molding otherwise known as the rear applique. After a google search I realized this is known defect that Ford motor CO. Does not recognize officially. There is a class action lawsuit regarding this defect. On April 25th 2014 I opened the rear glass lift gate to get something out of the rear cargo area. Upon closing the glass lift gate the entire window shattered into many pieces and actually put three cuts on my arm. I have looked into this online and found many owners of the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer's, Mercury mountaineer's and Lincoln aviator's all had this cracking of the rear applique. Also found out whether or not a crack was visible many people had the rear glass shatter upon them while closing the glass lift gate. Right now I must pay for the entire repair out of pocket, insurance doesn't cover it since they say I have a $1000. 00 deductible. The cost for the glass was quoted at $495. 25 plus tax. I also will have to replace the rear applique which covers a portion of the glass window at an additional cost. Not sure why this is not covered by Ford since the window shattering can cause injury and therefore should be classified as a huge safety issue. I will get this fixed and keep my receipts for all repairs and hope all owners of the vehicles listed above get some sort of reimbursement.
Without any impact or known cause, the liftgate cracked from the rear window, along the Ford emblem, to the bottom.
Cracked panel below rear window, went to garage and found this, cracked all the way thru.
