Driving down the road early in the morning and lost both front and back brakes. When the brake was pressed down completely the truck did not stop; pumping the brake caused the truck to slow but not quickly. We saw an empty mall area and headed towards the parking lot and coasted to a stop. Had we been on the freeway or later in the day during traffic this could have been a serious accident. We were driving on a 2 lane road in a city area going about 40 mph. We were very very lucky - this could easily cause a serious accident. Local brake company were able to get the brakes working and we drove the truck back to the house - a few hour drive. Received notice of the recall about 3-4 days after the brakes failed and we did not drive the truck. We called the dealer and they told us nothing could be done because the fix had not been solved by Ford, we asked if the truck was drivable and they could not answer as the recall is unclear. We asked the dealer if we could drop truck off and they could fix and they told us no because they did not have parts and did not know what the fix was going to be. Called Ford and talked to a customer service person and they called the dealership and had them take the truck since neither Ford or the dealer could tell us if the truck was drivable. The dealer told us they would look at the truck to determine if the truck was drivable - that was June 27, 2020 and we have not heard back from dealer. Called dealer again on 07. 16. 20 and talked and they still did not know and would call back, no call back as of 11pm 06/18/2020.
Brake failure. Brake pedal went completely to the floor and vehicle did not stop until it hit a tree. I pressed the brake, started the car. The brake pedal did not feel abnormal. With my foot still on the pedal, I put the vehicle in reverse. The pedal immediately went soft and completely to the floor. Since I was in my driveway only planning to move the vehicle back about 3 feet, I did not close the door. When the vehicle did not stop, its door caught a tree and bent backwards into the front fender. The vehicle stopped because the door caught the tree. The only warning displayed on dashboard was that the door was open and the car was not in park. After incident I turned on power to vehicle without starting to record the mileage on the vehicle for my insurance company and that is when the low brake fluid warning came on.
Driving on the highway Saturday may 30 and without warning the brake fluid low warning light started flashing. The brakes were barely usuable and the pedal had no pressure and stopped just off the floor. I could use the brakes but very slow to stop the vehicle. I could use the pedal for the emergency brakes but just barely. I was driving on an interstate at 65mph , towing a 23' boat, I was not using the brakes at the time of failure, there was no warning prior to the failure. I had the truck serviced on may 13th and had casually looked the night before the trip and noted no problems. I stopped bought fluid and filled the fluid reservoir and 15 miles later the same warning light came on. Stopped and looked for leaks under vehicle and at each wheel and nothing evident. Had someone meet me and tow the boat for me as I limped the vehicle to dealer.
My truck was being repaired for light front end deer hit. The technician was backing my truck into the cleanup bay and the brakes failed completely. Another tech had to manually stop the truck from rolling. I contacted my dealer and was told that their is no recall fir this year and I was stuck paying the bill. 40 year Ford guy seriously looking into Dodge. I can't have the safety of my family jeopardized.
Complete loss of brakes. Received a low brake fluid warning. Fluid was below minimum. Topped off with dot 4 fluid and resumed driving. Brakes completely failed within a few hundred feet with a complete loss of brakes and the warning light for low fluid again and total loss of brakes. Immediately used the parking brake in order to keep from hitting 4 cars stopped in front of us. We used the parking brake to safely pull over on the highway entrance ramp.
Tl- the contact's husband owned a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that her husband had exited her vehicle to park his Ford F-150 into their driveway. Upon start of the vehicle, the contact's husband lost complete control of the vehicle and clipped the side of her vehicle and crashed into a retainer wall. The contact's husband stated that the vehicle independently took off as the brakes failed to operate while being depressed. The contact was unaware if any warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel prior to the failure. The air bags failed to deploy upon impact. Upon exiting the vehicle, the contact's husband was covered in blood and the contact had a knot on the back of her head while in her vehicle. The contact immediately cleaned off her husband for cuts on both his legs and arms. The contact's husband was later treated at a hospital for a broken back and ribs. A police report was filed as a result of the accident. The vehicle was towed to fiesta Ford, inc. (78990 varner rd, indio, CA 92203) where the vehicle was deemed totaled. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they offered no assistance with the failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 20v332000(service brakes, hydraulic); however, the vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. Jo.
Complete front brake failure.
While driving a low brake fluid warning popped up on my display. I was one block from home. I noticed nothing wrong with the vehicle. I read my drivers manual. It said to check the fluid brake levels. If the levels were not between the minimum and maximum range call your dealer for service. I made an appointment. However when I got back in my vehicle and backed out of my garage to drive to the dealer the brakes went straight to the floor and I was unable to stop without slamming on my parking brake. Scared me to death. No one was hurt luckily. I had no warning of total brake failure other than a warning light moments before indicating low brake fluid levels. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. They offered to repair the vehicle and offered no information about this frequency or spontaneous dangerous potential with the vehicle. I am furious. It could've killed me or my family or others. I will sell the vehicle as soon as it is repaired and I can do so. These vehicles are not safe to be on the road in my opinion.

While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost all ability to brake. The foot pedal went down to the floor with no resistance or action on the vehicle. The parking brake also failed all ability to slow down or stop the vehicle. By some miracle I was able to get in the emergency lane and let the vehicle eventually slow down and come to a stop. The sudden loss of brakes happened while I was driving on a straight highway, with no obstacles of any type on the road and no evidence of damage to the vehicle. I have a video taken while waiting on the tow truck, showing the brake pedal going straight to the floor.
Catastrophic / complete brake failure will moving. Brake peddle went to floor while exiting highway. Seconds before applying brakes, "low brake fluid" warning came on. Thankfully it was a long exit ramp and was able to stop vehicle with down shifting and emergency brake. Very dangerous!!!!!! no prior indication of problem. Inspected fluid and it was below minimum. Vehicle had be serviced 2 weeks prior and all fluids full. Added fluid and pumping brakes several time, fluid was empty again. Had vehicle towed to dealer.
I was driving on the freeway on my way to the office this morning, as I approached heavy traffic travelling at 75 mph. I applied the brakes and my brake pedal went completely to the floor. The truck had complete and total brake failure. I was fortunate enough to avoid an accident by going down the grass in between the 2 opposing lanes of traffic.
While trying to stop at a busy intersection my brakes completely failed. Seconds later I noticed a brake fluid warning light. Upon investigation, brake fluid was very low. Added more fluid to correct the issue, only to be in the same situation a few miles down the road. Ford customer service has been very unhelpful. Parts agents hung up on me, and no guidance as to where I can find replacement parts. Vehicle is currently parked and can't be driven until fixed. I bought aftermarket parts and have to miss days of work and pay for a rental. There is only 68k miles on the truck and 3 years old. Ford knows about this and has not issued any recalls. I hope this is addressed before someone is seriously injured or dies. They are not willing to talk about it on their chat line.
I experienced total brake failure while driving. I was able to stop with the parking brake. I checked the brake fluid reservoir and found it empty. There was not a crash involved.

I was driving on the freeway at 65 miles per hour when I had a sudden warming light flash saying brake fluid problem. I tested the brakes and they went to the floor. Total brake failure with no warning. The truck has 29,000 miles and was serviced within last 2 months. This could have very bad and had tragic consequences. I fortunately was able to down shift using the manual shift feature and slow down and stop safely. This is a serious issue. My family and I could have been in a serious accident and hurt ourselves or others. Ford needs to get this figured out ASAP. Call me with any questions.
3. 5 liter v6 ecoboost sudden and complete loss of braking ability without warning brake pedal going to the floor with sudden and complete loss of brake effectiveness brake warning lamp illumination and low brake fluid level comes on after complete loss of brakes, slowed down with emergency brake luckily at low speed added 1 quart of dot4 brake fluid brake warning lamp illumination and low brake fluid level disappeared brake pedal went to the floor with sudden and complete loss of brake effectiveness brake warning lamp illumination and low brake fluid level did not come on until after brakes failed I did not have an accident but it was close. Took to shop with complete brake failure. Truck has 39000 miles. The vehicle was on a city street when the brakes failed. No fluid was detected under the vehicle even after adding 1 quart of dot 4 brake fluid and the brakes failed again.
Warning notice came on and a minute later brakes completely failed. Luckily I was driving very slowly on a military base.
Sudden total brake failure. No ability to stop vehicle. Fortunately in a residential zone and was travelling at low speed. . Brake was functioning normally when driven to neighborhood retail shop. When re-entered the vehicle and began to accelerate, brake warning lamp lit and I had no braking ability!.
On Friday 10/28 while driving down the interstate at about 55 miles/hour at approximately 6:30pm with vehicles ahead of and behind my truck, the vehicle began to give a number of check engine alerts, at which time the engine rpms dropped to very low levels and began to stall and the accelerator no longer responded. Had truck towed to the nearest dealership within the hour. I was very lucky in this situation, for had I been in a construction area or on a bridge, the situation could have been much worse. This same situation occurred on the evening of 10/2 while driving 40mph down a state road near my home and according to the dealer who attended to the issue, the brake module had failed which caused the symptoms to arise. In that instance, the accelerate failed to respond and the engine began to stall, which it did when I pulled to the side of the road. They replaced the module a few days later. In addition, the driver side door vibrates and does not latch properly. Two dealers have failed to resolve this issue to date and I believe it is a safety concern that has largely been dismissed by the service technicians and dealerships involved. Despite numerous documented attempts to resolve this issue with Ford customer service, they have ignored this concern, have failed to respond to me in a timely manner, and declined a buyback request. I am submitting lemon law documentation for the vehicle during the week of October 31. I have spent hundreds of dollars on rental vehicles during attempted repairs to the doors and the brake module since Ford claims they will not cover the cost of rental vehicles during warranty repairs. Repair documentation attached pertains to repairs for 10/2 occurrence since the dealership has not yet had an opportunity to inspect my vehicle since it was dropped off yesterday evening. I will gladly provide info once received.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the brakes failed to operate properly. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 23.
I was driving to work at ~65mph during rush hour and the brakes failed. First a warning light about low brake fluid then followed immediately by complete brake failure. I was lucky and got to the shoulder and coasted until stopping. The truck has been at the dealership for almost a month (still don't have the vehicle back).
While on vacation and towing a 16' enclosed trailer the trailer brake control module (tbc) failed. While driving, failure was temporarily indicated by a momentary winking off, then back on, of the tow haul mode indicator. No trailer brake control failure code was given. The vehicle was able to continue to the next stop at which time it was turned off. After re-starting and attempting to leave, the trailer brakes were fully locked. After removing the electric pigtail connector the trailer brakes released and it was taken to a nearby RV dealer where it was determined the fault was with the vehicle not the trailer. The vehicle was then taken to the nearest Ford dealer were it was determined the trailer brake control module had failed. The dealer indicated the part was on back order for several weeks, at which time it was determined the best solution was to install an aftermarket unit which was done so the following day. Although the vehicle is still under warranty, neither Ford nor the dealer would cover the cost. Failure of the tbc at highway speed may cause the trailer brakes to lock, causing serious damage or injury. This seems to be a recurring problem as indicated by the back ordered part and noting several threads regarding the same issue on the f150 forum. . Read more...
