Gears dropped fast on the highway, rpm's went up because my foot was on gas because I was on the highway, rear end locked up and I skidded going from 60mph to 30 in a second.
This vehicle was purchased by a friend with the factory tow package. No modifications were made before my purchase three years ago. I installed a factory brake controller for a travel trailer I purchased. The software was enabled with forscan, and the dealer updated the software to the latest available. Even with a new seven way plug, the truck displays "trailer disconnected" when using the slide brake and also never shows any output when braking. The brakes do engage but very mildly. The travel trailer brakes normally on my other vehicle. There are no fault codes and no obvious connection issues. The dealership today said they do no know the cause and would likely be unable to resolve it.
Brakes failed all fluid leaked out.
Front passenger side brake line (plastic) burst - causing no braking on vehicle. This happened when parked and just starting to drive vehicle out of carport. Vehicle was towed to service center (car fix western Ave knoxville, TN), damaged confirmed by tech. Both front brake lines were replaced, system flushed and tested. Incident occurred [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Brakes became completely unoperational and brake lights on dashboard lit up at same time. Luckily it happened coming out of my garage and not while on road or highway.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at a undisclosed speed the contact noticed a failure when he attempted to engage the brake gear no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed as a failure with the master cylinder which needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph and entering an intersection the brake pedal was pressed and the pedal extended to the floor. Due to the brake failure the vehicle did not stop and drove through a red light and into the intersection. The vehicle eventually rolled to a stop. Upon inspection the contact discovered that the brake fluid reservoir cap had come off and brake fluid had leaked from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the home. The failure was not yet repaired. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 20v332000(service brakes, hydraulic). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 130,000.
My truck now has 40,000 miles on it. For the past week the speedometer screen get covered by the message window. Your automatic parking brakes have a malefunction, get it serviced immediately. I can't really tell if the parking brake is dragging. My gas mileage has dropped about 1 mpg and it has feeling of slight chattering when starting out. I I keep deleting the message but it randomly comes up again. I live about 1 mile from westway Ford in irving, TX. I called for a service call appt. Over the phone they said they would come to get it at 10:30 a. M. I offered to drive it over to their service department but they said they would come and get it. They also said there would be a $395 charge whether the look at the problem or not. Why didn't they want me to drive it to their service departmen?.
I connected the 7-pin trailer wire of my 16' tandem axle enclosed trailer with electric brakes to my pickup. I checked the lights on the trailer. All functioned correctly. I got into my pickup to drive. The integrated trailer brake controller was smoking and getting hot. No error messages popped up on the dashboard. I pulled the fuse for the trailer brake module to prevent the integrated trailer brake module from melting or catching fire. Upon searching the internet, this appears to be a problem with my model year (2015 F-150). Ford dealership re-programs the trailer brake module. This needs to be addressed before the brake controller fails and could potentially catch fire. It also could cause an accident, because the electric trailer brakes will lock up or cease to engage.
Al darmarcha mi camioneta no dio marcha creei que la vateria estaba baja pero no dio marcha solo encendieron las luces del tablero brake system y electric park brake no damarcha se bloqueo por completo.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph the braking system had malfunctioned and while pressing the brake pedal the vehicle did not stop causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a ditch. During the crash the front end of the vehicle was severely damaged but the air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained a right leg injury which did not require medical attention. The front passenger sustained a right knee injury and the rear driver's side passenger sustained and left shoulder injury, both required medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was driven to the home. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 130,000.
While driving on a highway, the low brake fluid light came on. When I went to stop, the brake paddle went to the floor and I was finally able to get stopped. I opened up the brake fluid reservoir and it was empty. I looked to see if I could find the leak and could not see any signs of a leak. After filling the brake reservoir, I started to make my way home checking the brake fluid level every time I stop. While going up a hill, the engine stopped and a big cloud of white smoke came out of the exhaust pipe and under the hood. The truck was towed the a repair shop where it was said that the engine through a rod. The brake reservoir was empty again also. The truck was traded in at coccia Ford dealer ship in wilkes-barre , PA.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v332000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated when he had entered the vehicle and started the engine, when he depressed the brake pedal the pedal went down to the floor board. The contact stated the brake system had failed. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not yet available. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
Brakes failed as per recall. Ford dealers unable to repair for up to 60 days. Ford motor company unwilling to provide loaner/rental vehicle.
The truck has been acting up for several months now. It has been throwing out strange codes when attempting to start {parking brake malfunction, oil light, power train system default, ect} and often times it will not crank unless we hook it up to a battery charger for just a bit of time. The truck has a new battery that was installed by autozone, where it was bought {6 months ago}. Since we were in town, we stopped by autozone to get them to attach the code reader. {power train system and abs malfunction} while driving, later in the day, the trucks auto start/stop system turns itself on and stops the truck dead in its spot. (danger: we were pulling onto the road {fm 2100} during rush hour traffic, when the trucks system went haywire and stopped us dead in our tracks in the center of both turn lanes and two of the main lanes. ) there was no restarting, nor were we able to get the gear to change into neutral in order for us to be able to move it out of the main roadway. When we were finally able to move it, we hooked a fully charged jump box {one rated for up to semi truck sized vehicles} to it to get it started, and it simply would not crank for quite a while. At this time, we took the opportunity to recheck the oil level, which was set at full. After several minutes of begging "the truck" to just start so we could just take her home, it finally cranked up and home is where we took her. The truck has 19771 original miles on it. It was drove off of the show room floor, back in 2015, with 6 miles on it, and has had absolute regular maintenance and has only had one owner.
Front left brake line ruptured suddenly. Defective part in possession and available for inspection if needed. Brake line ruptured at the rubber just below the metal fitting closest to the engine. This instant and unforeseen failure resulted in an immediate loss of vehicle brakes endangering the occupants of the vehicle as well as other nearby motorist. This part has yet to be inspected by any agency. After a complete loss of brakes, a warning message illuminated on the dash displaying “brake fluid level low”.
The brakes failed while I was driving down the road. The brake pedal went all the way to the floor. I had to use the emergency brake to get to a safe location. I see many f150 owners have reported a similar problem, and there have been recalls for model years just before and after mine. Why wasn't the 2015 also recalled? it seems to be experiencing the same issue.
1-the brake system light has come on and brakes are extremely hard to press and use. I was having issues with the brake pedal slowly going to the floor while sitting at a stop. Today they will not go down at all and brakes are very difficult to press. Very dangerous to drive and a safety issue. I see that my VIN does not show a recall for it, but there is recall #20s31 that relates. 2-the engine has an exhaust leak while driving and it smells as though the exhaust is getting into the cab of the truck. I was told the manifold is bent because of a design flaw in the manifold missing a bolt. Been making this noise since the truck was rear-ended by semi truck.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floor and failed to stop the vehicle as needed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he shifted to neutral and used the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving to his residence. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 20v332000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,097.
I was towing my RV trailer behind my f150. When I backed into my campsite, I was about to pull the trailer onto wood blocks for leveling, when it felt like I had hit a curb or something solid when I tried to move ahead or back. My wife watched the wheels on the trailer and noticed they were all locked up (she took video). The suspension on the trailer flexed when I tried to gently go ahead or back. I unhooked the trailer harness from the truck and I could then move the trailer. When I got back into the truck after unhooking the harness, I noticed a strong burnt electronics smell in the cab of the truck. The odor lasted only a short time, but was very evident. The next morning upon the advice of an automotive electronics repair shop, I got a meter and checked the brake signal coming out of the back of the truck bumper connector. The brake signal was full "on". When I pulled the trailer brake fuse in the engine compartment, this disabled the signal to the truck harness. The brake signal at the back of the truck was now off. I also noticed at every key on after I unhooked the trailer harness and removed the fuse, that I go a "trailer brake module fault" warning on the f150 dash. It could be acknowledged and would go out for the current key on cycle. I have to acknowledge the fault each key on cycle now. The brake controller is the original Ford factory installed system. There are no modifications to the f150 wiring or controls. Due to a shortage of Ford dealership mechanics, I am awaiting a time for a Ford dealer to look at the problem. I am thankful that the fault occurred at 0 mph. If those brakes on the trailer had locked up at 55 or more mph, the results could have been disastrous for me. I have a photo of the trailer brake module fault warning.
On Sunday, September 4th 2022 around 8:30pm , I was returning from a camping trip with my girlfriend. We were about 20 minutes away from home. We had the bed of the truck packed with our camping materials. Suddenly the low break fluid began to chime and warn us that it's low. I was driving my truck at the time. I was driving on the freeway going I-5 south. I was not aware of my safety being compromised by this warning my truck issued. As I was approaching a vehicle in front of me, I began to make the effort to slow my truck down so I would not get to close to the vehicle in front. As soon as I attempted to slow down, my brakes did not function as they properly should. Because my brakes did not function properly, this caused me to fully engage my breaks by pushing the break in as far as the truck allowed me to. Although I was fully engaging my breaks to reduce my speed, it was not enough to avoid a collision. I then had to engage the emergency breaks to slow down my speed. The break malfunction caused me to panic and fear for our safety. This incident almost caused me to collide & rear end the vehicle that was in front of me. I then decided to continue driving at a speed of 55mph with my hazard lights to get my girlfriend and I home safely. I have done research on what may be the cause of my break malfunction. I found Ford issued a recall, number 20s31. Their description of the recall explained exactly what happened to me. I'm unsure why my VIN number does not fall under their recall category. I believe their problem is larger than they anticipated. Someone who is unaware of this could definitely cause a life threatening situation to themselves and others. I personally do not feel 100% driving my truck at this time. I will be taking my truck to my local Ford dealership to get my truck back on the road. Please look further into this safety issue further & assure Ford is taking proper measures for their customers safety.
On 8/11/2022, I experience brake failure. Upon exiting a parking deck, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor of the vehicle. There was no pressure in the brake system. Each time I depressed the brake, the pedal went all the way to the floor. Fortunately, I was able to pump the brake enough to stop the vehicle. I proceeded very slowly and was able to drive to the nearest service facility. Upon inspection by kedron tire and automotive (peachtree city, GA) I was told that the brake hose on the passenger side had ruptured. They said that they had not seen this before in a late model vehicle such as mine. I had them replace both hoses, the one on the passenger and driver side. There were no warning lights or messages.
I had recall work completed for master cylinder replacement at 57,242 miles (2-2-22) and at 57,671 miles (7-1-22) the front left break line blows out with no warning. Only 462 miles after break work by the Ford dealer at rocky top Ford 750 dolly parton parkway sevierville TN. 37862. 865-453-2833. In the photo the red tape is about the location of the hole where the brak line blow out.
Warped exaust manifolds due to broken bolts. Both sides. Result in bad emmisons and possibly of carbon monoxide entering occupied cabin and poisoning passengers. Glazing/ warped rotors. Unknown cause.
2/11/22. While at a complete stop, foot on brake, my truck started creeping forward and I kept pushing on the brake and I couldn't stop until my truck ran into the back of a semi trailer. After shutting truck off, and starting again, it appeared to work again. My 7 year old grand daughter was with me and she heard me yelling, "I can't stop, I can't stop". It has not been confirmed by dealership because it has to go collision shop on 2/14/22. No warnings came on my dash. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph on the highway, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. Campaign number 20v332000 (service, brakes, hydraulic)the vehicle was not taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Significant leak in vacuum pump for brakes causing difficulty breaking.
I have been driving since 1964 and have never experienced a total loss of all braking power in any . Vehicle in my life until last Sunday. I exited from the church parking lot and pulled out onto the main drive headed home. As I approached a signal light at a "t" intersection traveling across the top of the "t" right to left, the light turned yellow so I applied my brakes to slow down, only to find that the brake pedal traveled all the way to the floor without any hesitation and the car continued on its path without slowing at all. I immediately released my foot and permitted the pedal to rise to its normal position and I pressed on it again, only to get the exact same result. I immediately down shifted to first gear and pushed down on the emergency brake pedal which slowed the car to a stop before I entered the intersection. I shifted into park and tried pressing on the brake pedal to "pump up the braking system" and got some relief, however as soon as the light change and I put the car back in drive, all resistance from the brake pedal system quit and I was back in free fall. I managed to get home using manual shifting and emergency brake assistance. The braking system never returned to any form of even trying to control the forward momentum of the vehicle. I checked the internet to find that there were pages of people entering reports of similar issues with their f150's and yet there was no report of any recall or safety issues reported. Now I may be wrong but I thought I was told back in drivers ed back 1965 the the braking system in cars had an x configuration so if something happened to the brake lines that feed the front right to rear left, that the front left and rear right wheels would still be there to get to you stopped. Well I can assure you that when the little 18" rubber hose that connects the metal hydraulic line to the front right disk caliber on my car split open, nothing worked not even a warning light came on until no brake fluid existed.
In September 2019 my brakes failed on me while driving my truck. The red brake light on the dash came on while I was driving to work and the dealership diagnosed the issue as "master cylinder leaking into the brake booster" on my Ford paperwork. They replaced the brake booster and master cylinder for $858. Then on November 2020 they performed a recall to install a new master cylinder under the open recall and after much arguing they refunded my prior $858 charge. On August 8, 2021 in less than 9 months and just under 9000 miles later the newly installed master cylinder failed while I was driving down a mountain road. I had my family of 4 in the truck and we lost all brakes. This time there were no warning lights, we just lost the ability to stop the truck while going down the mountain. The vehicle was towed to the dealership but the brake fluid reservoir was 100% empty and the dealership will diagnose the issue in the next 24-48 hours. This is extremely dangerous and I do not feel comfortable driving the truck.
This issue is about high pressure (d. O. T. Safety regulated) brake line going to the right caliper, this line ruptured for no reason. This ruptured high pressure line was noticed & replaced during the master safety recall (20s31/NHTSA 20v-332) repair completed on 04-06-2021. The vehicle had 58,616 miles at the time of the high pressure brake line was replaced, the high pressure brake line is not a wear item such as front hub, drums, shoes, linings, disc rotors, & pads. These wear items are listed in my premium care Ford motor company extended warranty as not being covered, the high pressure brake line is not listed as an exclusion as a covered warranty part. I paid $2,765. 00 for this extended warranty, the high pressure brake line has (banjo) fittings (important) on each end and the rubber hose, the rubber hose (flexible) part is comprised of multiple layers of rubber with metal braiding (important) for strength because the rubber can't withstand the pressure without the steel. The premium care warranty under brakes states it covers metal brake lines and fittings. Elk grove Ford, CA. Stated they receive a list of warrantied items from Ford motor company and reject warranties based on what Ford motor company says is not under warranty from the list. This is a safety issue because we lost our brakes on the way home from the grocery store and almost wrecked going through intersections putting others and my family in danger. Additional important information pertaining elk grove Ford, CA. And Ford motor company master cylinder safety recall 20s31/NHTSA 20v-332, received 6/2020 had brake fade in 9/2020 called elk grove Ford and was told I would have to pay for this recall if the master cylinder was not defective, this recall was for a known defect by Ford motor company. I received a second recall notice 3/2021 urging me to have the recall completed, my brakes completely failed at the end of 3/2021. I have additional supporting information about other warranty issues.
On 2-24-2021 these two things had never happened before 1. I noticed when arrived to work the p for the gear selector stayed illuminated after vehicle is shut off. A CO-worker pointed this out also this had never happened before 2. While in a parking space on side of cvs drug store no other cars near after starting the vehicle and putting into reverse the vehicle accelerated on its own while applying brake didn't stop hit a cement pole barrier, truck kept trying to jerk backwards after 2-3 seconds it stopped shifted vehicle from reverse to drive to move back into parking space vehicle accelerated on its own; quickly shifted from drive to park vehicle continue to move forward while brake pedal applied and hit a tree and truck turned off if not for tree would have went down embankment on to a freeway.
Brakes locking up! master cylinder leaking brake fluid. Have had to replace brakes 2 times in a 10 month period.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, while coming up on a corner to make a sharp right turned, while slowing down, depressing the brake pedal to make the right turned, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact depressed the brake pedal again but the vehicle was not stopping. The contact stated that the vehicle when into a grass area then crashed into a railroad tracks squer on. The contact mention that the rail tracks was high and it stop the vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained a bad whiplash but was not serious injured, the contact stated that the front passenger and the rear driver passenger also sustained bad whiplash. Neither driver nor passengers seek medical attention. A police report was filed. The contact also stated that the fire department was the first to arrived at the scene. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and later was towed to an insurance tow lot. The VIN was included in NHTSA recall campaign number: 20v332000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer nor the dealer were contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 203,000. Aw.
The vehicle was parked, put into park, the key was removed, then the vehicle was locked. Upon returning to the vehicle the vehicle was unlocked, the tailgate was lowered and we proceeded to load a bulky 70 (I'm guessing) pound object into the bed of the truck. As we pushed the object into the bed of the truck the vehicle started to roll. It was rolling more than just the normal few inches that a vehicle in park can sometimes roll. I jumped into the drivers seat (the door had been left ajar) and pressed the brake to stop the truck. The keys were not in the ignition, the gear shift indicated that the vehicle was in park. The extra parking brake was not being used. The parking lot was very level, there was no slope at all. Once we had the object we were loading secured we pushed the truck and it was still able to be moved. We were fortunate that the object that we were loading wasn't heavy, because it would have been very easy to have an object drop down onto the person(s) loading. There were no injuries to anyone, there were no other vehicles damaged. We just felt that this was something that should be reported. Mileage is approximate mileage was 39,824 in June ( 5 months ago)at last oil change.
On adaptive cruise control, since new, the vehicle brakes are applied when passing an 18 wheel truck/trailer (sometimes) causing a rapid 15-20 mph hard braking decrease in speed jolting and scaring the occupants of the Ford. Nearly rear ended several times. Have contacted Ford but they did not care nor were they concerned that this is a safety issue. Very dangerous going from 65 to 45 while passing another vehicle and cars are behind me. This is a random occurrence making it even more scary. This has happened too many times to count since 2015 and I am afraid to use the adaptive cruise control for fear of being hit from behind on the highway.
