The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the low brake fluid indicator light illuminated. The contact added brake fluid. Additionally, the contact noticed fluid leaking from vehicle. The contact called mcree Ford, inc. (2800 gulf fwy, dickinson, TX 77539; (832) 769-0200). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified through chat and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The contact was referred to the dealer. The contact stated that the failure was similar to NHTSA campaign number: 20v332000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The failure mileage was 100,000.
As I was driving on interstate 94, in minnesota, I applied my brakes to slow my vehicle down for a construction zone. In doing so, a warning on my dashboard appeared saying, "brake fluid low". At that time, my brake pedal went right to the floor, drastically effecting my stopping ability. My emergency brake was needed to stop my vehicle. As I tried to figure out where the brake fluid was going, I was unable to find a leak. With more research, I found out there was a recall for the brake master cylinder leaking fluid into the brake booster, making the front brakes entirely inoperable. I have been attempting to get my vehicle fixed, and or replaced without any luck.
Brake fluid is leaking. I was driving and all of a sudden my brakes went all the way to the floor and I nearly lost control of the vehicle. I also got a notice of low brake fluid, so I put some in and a few days later it was low again. I noticed that it is leaking out onto other parts under my hood.
I was driving my 2015 f150, towing a trailer of around 7000 lbs. All of the sudden my truck said low brake fluid and the pedal went straight to the floor. This happened on a highway. This turned out to be the same problem that Ford recalled in the 13-14 models. The master cylinder leaks into the brake booster, leaving no trace of leaking brake fluid, and therefore you will not know until it is too late.
On 09/22/2019 while driving, on a local city street, where the speed limits vary from 30-45 mph, my brakes became completely ineffective while driving in a 45 mph zone. My vehicle is a 2015 Ford F-150 with 63,000 miles. I inspected the brake fluid reservoir, and it was completely empty with no sign of leakage anywhere. I did a quick search on this issue and learned that Ford had issued a recall for the same issues on the 2013-2014 models, but not 2015 and up, which are now experiencing the same symptoms. The vehicle is currently at a local Ford dealership where I am finding it difficult to get a resolution. The dealership has confirmed at this point that it is the brake master cylinder that has leaked fluid into the brake booster, which caused the loss of brakes, and is the exact same problem as the recall for the previous year models. The dealership is supposed to provide me with an estimate of the repairs, but have yet to do so after a week of being at the dealership.
Complete brake failure. While my 15 year old son was driving with his learners permit, we were exiting a highway. The weather was clear and dry. As he was slowing down the vehicle on a 65mph hwy off ramp, at approxamatly 35-40 mph the low brake fluid light came on and the brake pedal went soft and almost to the floor. He wasn't able come to complete stop. We made a right turn rolling onto the cross street and an oncoming vehicle had to slam on their brakes to avoid us. I then took over the driving to get the vehicle home. It was clear there were no power brakes and the brake pedal was soft, taking mutch more distance to depress the pedal. Once we were home I added brake fluid again and again totaling two quarts of fluid. The fluid would only last in the reservior for several minutes then it would drain down. There were no signs of fluid leaking anywhere along the entire brake system. The vehicle is now undrivable. My asumption is that the fluid is leaking into the brake booster. The vehicle is in transit to the dealer for diagnostics.
Brake failure due to brake fluid leaking through master cylinder and being sucked into the exhaust. The fluid is sucked out of the brake system through a vacuum line in the master cylinder and booster which lowers the fluid level and lets air into the brake lines. The brake fluid is then burned in the exhaust and creates white smoke from the exhaust pipe. The "low brake fluid" light came on while driving on a main city road and the brakes went out immediately after. The vehicle would stop only if the brake pedal was compressed all the way to the floor. On several occasions the emergency brake had to be used to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. After the "low brake fluid" light came on, more brake fluid (32 oz) was added but it was immediately sucked through the master cylinder and into the exhaust and the problem persisted. I scheduled an appointment to have a local Ford dealership flush the brake system as I assumed there was air in the lines due to the low fluid level. After the dealership flushed the brake and replaced all fluid the vehicle still had no brakes. This is when the problem with the master cylinder was discovered.
Sitting at a stop sign and "low brake fluid" light came on. Drove less than a mile home ready to use the ebrake after noticing the brake went all the way to the floor before stopping, so didn't know how much was left. The brake fluid was very low. Added brake fluid, drove it around the block and as I was pulling into the driveway, the "low brake fluid" light came on again. Turns out, it's the master cylinder leaking all the fluid into the brake booster, which apparently is a known issue that Ford is ok with? they recalled the 2013 and 2014s, but 2015s and 2016s are having the same problem. Shame.
The vehicle was in motion going about 5 mph when the brakes failed when I was turning into a parking spot at the pharmacy on 8/17/19. I had to use the parking brake to completely stop when parking the truck and then once stopped the low brake fluid warning came on. Then I drove to an auto part store that was a 1/4 of a mile down the road and put more brake fluid in and drove home, but once I was home the brake fluid tank was empty. I put more in and found a puddle of brake fluid coming out of the front passenger side of the truck. The truck is currently in the shop and they stated the master brake cylinder and brake booster failed.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while stopped in traffic, accelerated, attempted to stop, the brake pedal traveled all the way down to the floor. The contact had to use the emergency brake to stop. The low brake fluid message came on the message center. The contact went to the nearest parts store and purchased the approved brake fluid, filled the reservoir and the brake pedal traveled again all the way down to the floor. The vehicle was taken to an unknown independent mechanic, they determined that the vehicle had a cracked brake line and the fluid was leaking, needed replacement. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 79,500. Bp.
While driving my 2015 Ford f150 the brakes failed. First the low brake fluid light came on, I added brake fluid and everything appeared to be normal. I went to pull my truck into my garage and the brake light came on and the brake pedal went to the floor. I almost went through the wall into my house. My local service station stated that the Ford f150 2013 & 2014 had recalls on the brake master cylinder and the brake vacuum booster pump. My mechanic stated that the rear seal went and caused all the fluid to leak out.
Completely lost brakes while pulling a car trailer and car on highway. No leaks, but master cylinder completely dry. Refilled and went 20 miles and empty again. Master was leaking fluid into booster and being sucked into engine and burning it. Had to use emergency brake and downshift transmission to stop. Truck was towed to Ford for repair. Ford customer service wouldn't help with repair until they are told to recall them by government. Someone is going to get killed. Brakes were gone in an instant.
Brake fluids are leaking from master cylinder into the driver side cabin floor and slight loss of brake performance when driving in the city streets or highway.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that all the indicators illuminated on the instrument panel and a message appeared indicating that the brake fluid was low. Also, while driving 70 mph, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle came to a rolling stop. The vehicle was towed to butch oustalet Ford (9274 us 49, gulfport, ms 39503, (228) 863-5525) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder failed and brake fluid leaked onto the brake booster. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 90,800.
Brake master cylinder reservoir leaked all fluid into the brake booster resulting in "low brake fluid" warning seconds before brake pedal went all the way to the floor with no braking power. Traveling in the sacramento mountains on vacation in southern new mexico when this happened. Could have been very serious not only injuring us but other opposing traffic. Occurred on hwy 82 between cloudcroft and alamogordo on July 6 2019. Very steep stretch of road that cost the life of another truck driver just 1 month prior that went over the side down the canyon. Called the Ford dealer in alamogordo and they said no warranty and we would have to pay in addition to having the vehicle towed. Again, we were on vacation and stranded. We had a mobile mechanic order the necessary parts, and 3 working days later (happened on a Saturday and parts arrived Wednesday) we were back on the road. Very stressful since this has been a major recall on years 2013-14, with over 300 reports on 2015-16 with no recall. Brake failure is serious, and Ford should treat it as such.
11jun2019 0600 - pulling into parking space at gas station and warning light comes on for low brake fluid. Brakes still operating normally at this point. I leave the gas station and drive approximately a mile to the closest store to purchase brake fluid, presuming only a top off is required. By the time I get to the store, braking has diminished by 90%. I have the truck towed to the closest Ford dealership, where they diagnose the problem as failure in brake master cylinder, with brake fluid leaking into brake booster, resulting in total loss of braking.
I own a 2015 f150 with the 3. 5l motor and 47,000 miles. This morning the " low brake fluid " light came on then within minutes I started experiencing low/spongy brake pedal. I pull over and check the master cylinder, the fluid level was very low. I add 2 containers ( 24 FL. Oz. ) of brake fluid to refill master cylinder and drove about 3 miles when the brake malfunction light return along with low/spongy brake pedal. I called Ford roadside for a tow. There was no visible fluid leak at the master cylinder area or at the 4 wheels. However I believe that this is a major leak because that fluid did not take long to leak out ( 3 miles and about 10 minutes ).
Truck was 40 months old with 33,000 miles. No history of brake issues or brake warning lights. Brake fluid low warning light came on while in motion about 1 mile from starting point. Within a few minutes and 1-2 miles of continued driving the brakes completely failed. Brake pedal went to floor with no braking or brake fluid pressure. Truck towed to dealership with diagnosis of master cylinder rear seal leaking fluid into brake booster. This was a sudden and total failure of the braking system. Hundreds of thousands of 2013 f150s were recalled for similar master cylinder failures. This is a serious safety hazard to everyone on the road. My family no longer feels safe in this truck. This sort of failure is unacceptable given current technology and engineering. Poor design, poor engineering, poor quality control. This unacceptable failure endangers people and Ford should be forced to recall this faulty component.
While on a road trip from the sf bay area to las vegas and having been there just one day, the valet at ceasar's palace drove my truck to the front entrance of the hotel/casino where many people and vehicles were coming and going. When I got in my truck, the brake warning/failure lights were brightly lit and the brake pedal went mushy right to the floor. When I inspected the brake fluid reservoir, it was near empty (see attached photo). When I looked beneath the vehicle, there was no indication of a leak and no indication of a leak in the engine compartment. The truck mileage was around 62k and had the 60k service recently which included new front rotors and pads installed by a Ford dealer in the sf bay area. For the brake failure, I had the truck repaired at the Ford dealer in las vegas. They reported that brake fluid leaked from the hydraulic cylinder secondary seal into the brake booster. Both the hydraulic cylinder and brake booster required replacement at a cost of nearly $1400. 00! fortunately, I wasn't driving when the brake failure occurred. There were no accidents or injuries. Thank god.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the brakes malfunctioned and traveled to the floorboard when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was at the contact's home when the failure occurred. Alan jay Ford Lincoln (3201 us hwy 27 s, sebring, FL 33870, (863) 385-0144) diagnosed that the master cylinder was leaking fluid into the brake booster. Both the master cylinder and brake booster were replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 47,016.
Driving at 20 mph on residential street, applied brakes, pedal went to floor. Complete failure of brakes. Simultaneous warning on low brake fluid and brake warning light. Added fluid to reservoir. Brakes failed again within a few minutes. No external evidence of fluid leak, but reservoir was again low. Warning lights remained lit entire time.
I was driving vehicle on hwy at 55mph pulling a 20 foot pontoon boat. Brake light came on with audible warning. I came to the next stop sign and the brake pedal went nearly to the floor with severe diminished braking ability. I limped the truck to a gas station a mile down the road where I checked the brake fluid reservoir which had a 1/2 inch of fluid left in it. I put 12 oz. Of brake fluid in the reservoir. I got under the truck and checked the master cylinder and brake lines from the master cylinder to the back of the truck. I located no leaks whatsoever in the system. I continued another approximate 20 miles and the warning light came on again at which time I stopped again and added 48oz total of additional brake fluid however it disappeared with no leak anywhere. I had to have the truck towed 190 miles home as I was on a family vacation. The truck was towed directly to the dealership and will arrive on Monday August, 20 2018.
Brakes completely failed while trying to stop from 35 mph at a stop sign entered highway 260 in overgaard az - crossed the highway applying full pressure on brake pedal and using parking brake - came to a stop and checked the fluid level all brake fluid was gone, added 12 oz of dot 4 fluid and backed the truck up and parked in a another place to check for leaks - checked the level and all fluid was gone again. No sign of leakage. Dealer looked at the vehicle on 8/9 and determined that the brake fluid was leaking from the master cylinder into the brake booster.
While on vacation at lake, the truck completely lost brakes. I dropped boat in water and parked in lot. Upon returning from day of boating, I started truck and began driving down boat ramp. I hit the brakes to slow and make the u turn to back down to water and the brake pedal went fully to the floor and alarms and brake messages began flashing on dash. There was very little deceleration. Luckily I was not moving too quickly and able to keep from hitting other people and vehicles on the ramp by turning crosswise on the ramp. Certainly could have been much worse if brakes had failed while fully loaded up trailer, less maneuvering options or with more speed. Upon checking the master cylinder was completely empty. There were no signs of leakage on any of brake lines or components. Obtained fluid and filled reservoir completely and able to get back to campsite. However, two hours later the reservoir was empty again. Finally determined fluid was leaking into brake booster and that is why no fluid leaks could be detected. The residual vacuum after engine is shut off sucks out all the fluid while vehicle is parked. Apparently the engine burns brake fluid fairly cleanly as the exhaust did not smoke excessively on startup. Removed vacuum line from booster and refilled reservoir so that it could be driven to dealership with non-boost assisted brakes. Dealership verified the master cylinder was indeed leaking into booster and replaced master and booster at a cost of $650. They said that although previous years that had this exact problem were covered mine was outside of the covered vins and not covered.
Brakes went out while driving. Brake fluid keeps disappearing. Brake fluid has leaked into the intake and caused massive amounts of smoke from the exhaust, the master cylinder failed at only 42k miles.
While towing a trailer at approximately 15 mph on a city street and slowing (braking), the front brakes on the F-150 ceased to work and the vehicle dash displayed a warning there was low brake fluid. Fortunately there was no collision as this was not a panic stop situation, the rear brakes of the vehicle worked, and there were trailer brakes to stop the vehicle. Upon inspection, the master brake cylinder had failed and caused the brake fluid to leak into the vacuum (brake) booster. This is the same failure outlined in NHTSA recall 16v345000 covering 2013 to 2014 F-150s. I believe this recall needs to be expanded to 2015 vehicles as well.
While driving on a city street, brake level low light illuminated followed by total loss brakes when attempting to stop. Checked master cylinder and it was empty. Added fluid to the full line and it continued to drain away. Problem was fluid leaking into the brake booster. A similar problem was experienced in the 2013-2014 f150 which resulted in a recall by Ford. Problem occurred today (the fourth of July). All repair shops were closed so no repair cist are available yet.
Driving vehicle on country roads at approximately 30mph, a low brake fluid warning was observed. Stopped vehicle and checked, fluid was near min fill line in reservoir. Turned around to return home and within less than 1 mile all brake function ceased and upon coasting to stop, brake fluid reservoir was checked again and found empty. Checked under vehicle and at each brake cylinder, found no indication of leaking. Had truck towed to dealer (timber Ford, hayward WI). They confirmed the issue was an internal leak of brake fluid in the master cylinder. Replaced brake master cyclinder, brake booster and brake vacuum pump assembly for $1000. 76 vehicle had 59,663 miles at the time of service. I was able to manage my way back home using downshifting and emergency braking, however, this condition would have been very dangerous if I would have made it another mile further and been on the highway at high speed and more traffic.
I was driving on a city street when my brake fluid warning light came on. I stopped in a parking lot to check the brake fluid reservoir and discovered it was almost empty. When I restarted the truck the brake pedal went completely to the floor, so the truck had to be towed to the closest auto center because there was no braking ability! we were informed that the brake master cylinder had failed - the brake fluid was leaking into the brake booster sensor. A brake master cylinder should not fail on a new vehicle that has only been on the road 2. 5 years and driven only 48,000 miles!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the vehicle leaked brake fluid from the master cylinder in the the brake booster. The low brake fluid alarm illuminated and the brake pedal hit the floorboard when depressed. Auto nation Ford of littleton, colorado was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,000. Ad.
While in motion at highway speeds, our F-150 lariat supercrew 4x4 experienced complete loss of braking power. After filling the reservoir with recommended dot-4 braking fluid, the vehicle was driven carefully to the local dealership, harrold Ford in sacramento. Upon inspection, the technician in the service department (vincent) diagnosed a faulty master cylinder, leaking fluid into the booster behind. In addition to the master cylinder, the booster and diaphragm are also recommended to be replaced at a cost of over $1,000. The vehicle has 39,000miles and is lovingly cared for.
Complete brake failure, all brake fluid leaked out with no sign of a leak. While driving on highway received a low brake fluid error on the dash and upon pressing the brakes they went all the way to the floor 2015 Ford f150 king ranch with 51,000 miles.
On Sunday, October 22, 2017, after a night of camping with my family, we loaded up our camping gear and left the campgrounds. While driving on the winding roads in the texas hill country a few miles from our campsite my truck displayed the warring that my brake fluid level was low. I attempted to pull over and check my brake fluid level however my brakes were gone and my pedal sank to the floor. My brakes system experienced a total failure and I had to take my foot off the accelerator pedal and roll to a stop. After I stopped I checked my brake fluid reservoir and it was completely empty. There was no brake fluid leaking from the truck and I have diagnosed the issue to be related to a failure with the master cylinder. I contacted a local Ford dealership to report the problem and I was told that since there was no active recall for the issue that I would need to contact the Ford customer relationship center if I wanted to seek assistance with the repair. I contacted the customer relationship center and reported the issue and a case was opened for review; 2 days later I received an auto-generated email denying my request for assistance since I had exceeded by 3-year 36,000 mile warranty even though this was a known issue by Ford. It seems to me that not enough injuries or fatalities related to this issue have arisen and Ford is not currently committed to fixing the issue. On the roads, my family and I were on with the tight turns and narrow lanes this was an extremely dangerous situation.
Leaked brake fluid and lost braking power. Brake pedal went all the way to floor. I was told by mechanic that the master cylinder and brake booster needed to be replaced.
I started a drive, I got one half mile into the drive and the chimes went off on the dash stating low brake fluid. I tested the brakes to see if they were responsive. They were normal from my experience. I drove another five miles and had to slow for a highway overpass turn. The brakes went to the floor. I had a slight bit of brake but almost non existent. I limped the truck home and carefully put it into neutral gear any time I approached a stop light or stop sign. Got it to my garage. Checked brake fluid, totally empty. Checked all four corners and found no fluid. Poured new fluid in and check brakes again. They started to firm and went limp again. Checked for leaks again. Found the master cylinder making a hissing noise and fluid dripping from the master cylinder reservoir. Will have the dealer tow tomorrow.
