Driving at 65mph, all of a sudden said brake fluid out, emergency brake was not on, said it was, pulled to side of highway, tested emergency brake, not engaged, had to push brake pedal all the way to floorboard, coasted to dealer nearby. 39 Brake Master Cylinder problem

2016 F-150 platinum with 20k miles just had "low brake fluid" notice come on as I started pulling out of parking lot that was downhill and realized I had no brakes when the pedal went to the floor. I quickly used emergency brake to stop the truck and pull back into parking space. Pulled up the hood to find the reservoir was low. Pulled up good ol google and what do you know. . . Its a common problem with the master cylinder. Glad I wasn't driving with my kids towing the boat going downhill. Off for repair.

41 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2017

While driving my truck I had total loss of brake function without warning. Further investigation showed the fluid reservoir was empty despite no evidence of leaks. I feel this is inline with the brake booster/master cylinder recalls of 2013-2014 year models. I suspect the brake fluid has been drawn into the vacuum booster. I'm awaiting dealership service at this time. I was on a mountain road and luckily we were on a level spot instead of on a hill.

42 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2017

August 2016 16400 miles brake pedal dropped to floor with very limited braking, had to use emergency brake to stop vehicle. Brought to Ford dealership, master cylinder was replaced, all was good until may 2017 when pedal again dropped unexpectedly. Brought to Ford dealer, they had the truck for 5 weeks and I was told there was a computer error but they could not replicate the problem and I was given the truck back. June 7th 2017 pedal is slowly dropping to the floor, brought it back to Ford, I was told that it is normal for the pedal to go all the way to the floor. He vehicle is unsafe to drive.

43 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2017

In November 2016 just 8 months after our truck was purchased my husband was trying to stop at a red lightin our neighborhood and the brakes went all the way to the floor and di'd not stop, the brakes did not work. Luckily there was not an accident or injury this time. We took the vehicle to Ford in grapevine and they told us the master cylinder in the. Takes needed to be replaced so they replaced it. 3 months later in March 2017 my husband was in traffic turning at a light to merge onto the highway, traffic came to a stop and he tried to stop and again the brakes went all the way to the ground and they didn't work nor did they stop the vehicle. This time he rear ended a lady in an SUV. He said he had plenty of time to stop and was luckily going at a reduced speed but still was unable to stop or slow before colliding with another vehicle due to brake malfunction. The truck is now at grapevine Ford again and we have yet been told what the issue was. Both times these incidents occurred there was no warning, no lights, nothing that we noticed that could indicate an issue. We have had tons of other issues with this truck, drivers side seatbelt broke, air conditioning unit broke, skylink system shorted and brake failure. We have been refused a replacement vehicle by Ford and are currently dealing with lawyers but that could take 3 more months. I am furious that no consideration has been given to me and my family over these issues. Have they fixed our vehicle? sure, but I am terrified to put my babies in this truck ever again no matter fixed or not. The next time we may not be so lucky and I can not take that chance. This is a work and family vehicle and our work/finances have been severely compromised as we pay a lot of money for this truck. I am extremely disappointed with Ford and their customer service and their product and hope this may help get our issues resolved.

44 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2017

I arrived at a friends house with no issues. Shortly after, I went to start my vehicle and when I pressed the brake to hit the start button, the brake peddle went to the floor board as if there was no pressure. At that point brake / fluid light came on. I opened the hood and check the brake master cylinder and it was empty. Next day I went to the dealer and they replaced the master cylinder and brake booster.

45 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2017

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 20 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder and the power booster needed to be replaced. The contact stated that only the master cylinder was replaced. The failure occurred after the repair was performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,096.

46 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2017

I was sitting still as I waited in a drive through line with my truck in drive and my foot on the brake, when suddenly the brake pedal pushed all the way to the floor. Scary. I tried to pump the brake - the pedal pumped all the way to the floor several times before it caught and began behaving as expected. The was no sound or alarm from the console during all of this. The dealership replaced the master cylinder as a warranty repair. They had no comment about whether this was a recall. I asked if the part number was different on the replaced part and they told me it was. Replacement part was gl3z-2140-a cylinder asy along with pm-20 fluid - brake.

47 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2016

I bought the truck in July with 63 miles on it. A month or so later I noticed the brake pedal going to the floor when stopped at a trafic light. I took to to the dealer and they looked at it and told me it was normal for the pedal to go to the floor under pressure because the system calculated how much pressure was needed to stop the vehicle. Today 12-6-2016 I was driving the truck and the pedal went to the floor when stopping, while the truck was still moving. I dropped it off at the dealer this morning and will have to wait and see what they say. I think it is a bad master cylinder and think the story about the computer controlling the brakes is just to get me out of the shop.

48 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2016

The brake pedal went all the way to the floor. I was in a parking lot and had to pump the brakes several times to have pressure. There were no warning lights or signals. Drove home carefully and cut off the vehicle. Restarted the truck again and had the same problem. I was gettting ready to go out of town towing a 7000 pound camper. If the brakes had failed while towing the camper it could have been deadly. The truck was towed to the dealership and the master cylinder was replaced. Read on line there had been a recall on the 2013 & 2014 F-150s master cylinder but not on the 2015 & 2016. There needs to be a recall !!!! I owned the truck for approximately 9 months and it had 9700 miles on it when this occurred.

49 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2016

To whom this may concern, on November 18th while driving with my three children, the brakes on my 2016 Ford f150 failed. When approaching a stop light, I pushed the brake pedal all the way to the floor without slowing. I veered the truck into the left turn lane in order to avoid rear ending the vehicle in front of me. The truck slowly came to a stop by the time I reached the light. Luckily there were not any vehicles in the left turn lane. On 11/19/16, I took the truck into my local Ford dealer and they replaced the master cylinder. After doing some research, I was disappointed to find that multiple owners have already had this same issue. I would expect such a potentially dangerous problem with the truck would illicit a recall. This is the fourth Ford f150 vehicle I have owned. This truck was an expensive vehicle and I am disappointed to have had such a serious malfunction after driving it for only 7,300 miles. I am even more disappointed in the company for being aware of an issue and not having taken action. I hope the new part that has been installed has been redesigned and will not fail like the first one did. Even more so, however, I hope that the Ford company will take note of this issue, issue a recall, and prevent others from the dangers of nonfunctioning brakes. Sincerely, aaron.

59 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2016

When trying to stop at a stop sign my brake pedal went all the way to the floor not allowing me to stop in time and causing me to cross a major roadway; luckily there was not much traffic at that moment. I immediately pulled over and shut off my truck. Pumped my brakes and started it back up again. Everything seemed fine so I continued to drive it with no issues. About 10 minutes later as I was approaching a crosswalk by a school, a child stepped out into the crosswalk and once again I applied my brakes only to have the pedal go all the way to the floor. The vehicle does slow down but does not stop where it should. Luckily the child was not struck by my vehicle. I then took the truck to my local Ford dealer which is was diagnosed with a bad master cylinder for the brake system. No parts available as of yet and supposedly they are on back order. This issue needs a full recall before someone gets killed.

Ford repair and said the master cylinder needed replaced. The truck is brand new with less than 6k miles on it.

62 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2016

While applying brakes the pedal travels excessively until it contacts the floor board. As a result, brake application is lost. Contacted Ford roadside assistance and had vehicle towed to the dealer and was told the master cylinder is defective. This vehicle is a 2016 Ford f150 with a 5. 0liter engine and equipped with four wheel drive. Vehicle has only 15,472 miles. This is one of nine vehicles of exact make and model we employ in our fleet and one of two with this problem.

63 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2016

While driving the vehicle at road speed (~45mph) the brake pedal when applied provided little to no braking. The pedal had no resistance and went all the way to the floor board. This occurred on multiple occasions. The worst of which was while I was attempting to stop at an intersection. This intersection was located in a 40 mph zone on a somewhat busy street. While attempting to stop the vehicle the brake pedal went to the floor and provided no stopping resistance. The vehicle rolled into intersection which caused me to have to take evasive action including pumping the brakes and veering off to the side of the road. I don't remember if there was another vehicle in the intersection. After this occurance I drove the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer was able to identify a problem with the master cylinder within 24hrs and then spend the next 17 days trying to obtain the part from the manufacture. Since the master cylinder was replaced I have had no additional occurrences of this type.

64 Brake Master Cylinder problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2016

I was driving down the interstate at about 70 mph and suddenly had to apply my brakes because a car in front of me stopped suddenly and when I did the brake pedal went straight to the floor board and stopped as if I was barely pushing the brakes. I had to push the emergency brake in to stop the vehicle. I almost had a very serious accident and if I had not swerved off the road I would had hit the car in front of me at close to 60 mph and my vehicle gave no warning lights or other indication that anything was wrong even after I found the issue which is very troubling. I had my vehicle towed to Ford and after further investigation it was determined the master cylinder failed which caused the brakes to not work properly. When I asked Ford if they replaced it with a new part that was not part of the defective line the technician told me they replaced it with a new master cylinder but it still has potential to fail as it is part of the defective line that is causing these issues and Ford does not have any other way of fixing it. I am seriously concerned with mine and my families safety in this vehicle as I have a boat and other things I tow from time to time and my children are in the car with me. I am concerned someone is going to be injured or die because of this issue because I almost had a very bad accident due to this. Please investigate this issue as I have tried to speak with Ford to get a new vehicle or swap for something safer but have not been able to get anything accomplished besides getting the run around. I have had my 5. 0 liter v8 2016 F-150 for almost 4 months and 7000 miles and bought it brand new with 2 miles on it.
