38 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2006 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

In June 2015, the air bag light in my Ford f150 illuminated, indicating a problem. I took my vehicle to a Ford dealership. They told me that the deployable restraint system, specifically the pretensioner, had malfunctioned and possibly would fail to function as intended in the event of a crash. The service technician indicated that the restraint system is connected to my air bags, which might fail to work in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. After paying the diagnostic fee, I was given a repair estimate of an additional $392. 21. Not wanting to risk injury in the event of a crash, I had the pretensioner replaced. The buckle pretensioner is a critical safety device that should never fail under normal use. My vehicle has never been in an accident. It is my understanding that some pretensioners have failed due to simple seat position adjustments, which, to me, is evidence of a poor design. Ford has recently recalled many 2013 ¿ 2014 vehicles for poorly made pretensioners, recognizing the safety issue surrounding them. I requested that Ford reimburse me for the cost of the pretensioner buckle; however, Ford denied this request. I have the original pretensioner and all receipts available.

40 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/10/2015

One day I turned on my 2012 Ford F-150 XLT. I went to go open my gate to my front lawn then noticed my airbag light on. I turned off my truck and turned it back on then the light stayed off. I continue to run my errand then when I got back home I noticed that once I unbuckled my seat belt and left the truck running to open my gate. The light came back on again. There is no error message on the light meaning " the light doesn't not blink on start" I have contacted Ford about the issue but they claim there is not a recall notice. I checked the date of manufacture on my door panel and it says 11/11. I have seen that they are recalling vehicles from 11/06 to 11/15. How is my vehicle not on their list.

41 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 01/28/2015

The passenger airbag qff light comes on with a passenger in the seat. I have been to the dealer twice about the problem. The service rep. Has seen the airbag light off light on with my wife sitting the passenger seat. The dealer service dept. Checked the "system" and said it checked out !! there is nothing more we can do. I consider this unacceptable and a major safety issue. Can Ford or the dealer be held responsible if the bag fails to deploy and someone is hurt or killed. Why is this not a recall item?.

42 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

While in motion, with an adult passenger buckled in, the indicator light for the passenger side air bag often indicates the air bag is off. This has been ongoing since the truck was purchased. We have complained to the dealership several times. Date indicated below does not at all reflect the number of times this has occurred.

43 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2007 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/27/2014

On 9-26-14 the airbag light came on then went off after 10-15 minutes. I drove the vehicle approximately 10 miles on 9-26. At 1pm on 9-27 I started the truck and within 5-10 seconds the airbag exploded. The vehicle was still in park as I was opening mail before leaving. I was not seriously injured but had a sore right shoulder most of the day. Ford is telling me I have to pay for a new airbag as they are only guaranteed for 5 years. My truck has never been in an accident, purchased it new in 2007 and it just turned 41000. This is a major hazard as I had no warning of deployment, only my airbag light went on. I told Ford of I had to pay for the airbag then I wanted all parts removed. Ford is going to call me on 9-29-30.

45 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

The "airbag" indicator light came on. Stayed on for about 6 weeks when vehicle was in use, then turned off. Now, a minute or so after starting vehicle an alarm sounds, 5 low sounding beeps in 5 rounds, will do it about every 30 minutes, same alarm cycle. According to the owners manual this is an indication of a problem with the airbag system. I thought I was responsible for having this fixed. Currently with my schedule and financial situation I have been putting off servicing this issue however, I heard on the news earlier this week about several recalls and my vehicle fits into this. I have not received any recall notice from Ford. I'm not sure if my vehicle is actually part of this, this is why my inquiry to you. Please advise.

47 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/24/2012

June 24, 2012 dear Ford motor company, I own a 2005 Ford f150 4x4 crew cab truck, which I have had since 2005, and which you have excluded from your present recall of 2005-2006 Ford f150's. However, it has presented an illuminated air bag light every time it has been started now for over 2 years. This I have learned is the single warning sign capable of warning of its faulty air bag system. I am aware that NHTSA wanted Ford to recall 1. 2+ million trucks and that Ford has avoided such a wide-spread recall saying they had made production changes that minimized the number of affected trucks, and that NHTSA sent another letter warning Ford that if they didn't agree to a complete recall, the agency could convene a formal public hearing to compel a recall, and that now Ford has agreed to recall 2004 through 2006 F-150 vehicles, approximately 1. 2 million more trucks. Yet still my truck is a 2005, the very year model included in your original recall, yet for whatever reason my 2005 Ford f150 is excluded, leaving me to chance the safety of my family's life every time any of us get in my truck (which only likes 2 payments being paid for). By the way, I am a mother of 3, daughter of 2, sister to 1 and the girlfriend of a mean biker, should I parish my children would be orphans, but more importantly to Ford motor company, should any of my children be so much as harmed due to this well depicted issue, Ford motor company is going to wish my children were orphaned! [xxx] p. S. I also come from a family of Ford enthusiasts, thus I have great faith in your loyalty and therefore will allow you a minimal amount of time to include my 2005 Ford F-150 in your recall (and notify me of it), before I forward this correspondence to the NHTSA and everywhere else additional research instructs me to.

Failure Date: 12/30/2011

I just purchased this truck yesterday 12/29/11 and I drove it home parked it and got in the vehicle this morning, stated it and the airbag light began to flash at me and then stayed on my whole 1 hour dirve to work. I have 4 children, and am afraid that the airbags are going to deploy while they are in the vehicle or not deploy if we are in a collision. If there is a recall please let me know, I need to get it fixed.

50 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2008 Ford F-150

I just bought a used 2008 Ford f150. . . . Had it one week and now the airbag light comes on and off every day. Took it to five start Ford and the service advisor told me there is no recall on this problem. I cannot afford to pay to have this fixed so will just have to drive it like it is and take my chances. The truck has 47k on it.

51 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/02/2011

After driving through a shallow (less than 6 inches deep) puddle, my airbag light illuminated on my dashboard, accompanied by a warning chime. The Ford service department diagnosed the problem as a faulty front impact sensor, which shorted out. The shorted sensor, in turn, shorted out the entire restraint system module (the "brain box" ). After investigating on the internet, I have found several other people with similar problems. It seems that the location of the front impact sensor, placed on the hood latch support, makes the sensor susceptible to water infiltration. Corrosion then causes the sensor to fail. Furthermore, with the freeze-thaw cycle in michigan, water that is allowed to enter the sensor can eventually crack the housing, allowing even more moisture to get inside. The fact that the entire restraint system module was destroyed by the short in one impact sensor is quite disconcerting. The system should be engineered to prevent such catastrophic electrical damage. It appears that the sensor design and placement was poorly engineered for vehicles in the northern climate where the freeze-thaw cycle and road salt are present.

54 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2008 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/23/2011

In Feb 2011, I called for about my 2008 Ford F-150 regarding the airbag light going on and off and Ford will do nothing about it. I just read that 1. 2 mil F-150's were being recalled for the same issue. They said my VIN does not qualify for recall. VIN # 1dtpw14v58fb24623. So, because I don't have $500-$900 for the repair, I get to wait to be injured. Not right!.

55 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/15/2011

I have a 2004 Ford f150. The drivers airbag light flashes intermitantly. I found that there is an upcoming recall by Ford to fix the problem for 05' and 06' but not 2004. I read in an article that NHTSA has recommended that Ford include the 2004 models. I contacted my local dealer and they said the did not know of any recalls for the f150 airbag problem. I offered to email them the articles but they said they did not have email. I told them the light was flashing and they told me it would cost 49. 95 to look at the problem and I would have to pay for the total reapair. I am concerned that the dealer does not have this knowledge and are unwilling to deal with something so obviously dangerous. In one article it said that if the warnig light was flashing I should take my truck to the dealer immediatly. Is the 2004 model going to be recalled and when??? if I pay for this expensive reapir I am concerned I will not be reimbursed once the recall occurs. How long will it take for NHTSA to force Ford to step up before a fatality occurs?? I have a textbook situation occuring that NHTSA has identified and I can not get anything done about it!.

59 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2006 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/25/2010

This problem first surfaced on the morning of 6/25/2010. I, along with a front seat passenger, were returning from running an errand when I noticed that the air bag light was flashing intermittently and that the 'passenger air bag disabled' indicator was lit. The later eventually returned to its normal state, off, but the air bag indicator remained on intermittently. I drove the vehicle again on 6/27/2010 with the following symptoms: the air bag light was intermittent and at the same time the an warning chime, at 1 second intervals, was heard. The 'passenger air bag disabled' indicator remained lit without a front seat passenger. The vehicle was again driven on 7/5/2010 with the same indications. As a result, I am hesitant to drive this vehicle until I do more research or speak to a certified service facility. I truly feel that I'd be at risk of an inadvertent air bag deployement while driving on the interstate , possibly causing injuries to myself, passengers, and other vehicles, and thus I'm requesting help and advice from your organization.

65 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/04/2006

Safety issue, in cab electrical failures. Feb 4th 2006, it rained 1. 5 inches. My truck sat in the rain with all the windows up. In the evening I opened the door and drove away. As I had jumped in the truck, I had realized I did not have any dome lights. As I drove away (engine running fine), I realized I did not have any readouts on my instrument cluster and several other things not working. About 10 miles later, I hit a bump in the road and all my non-working items began working. The only side effect was my tripometer quit working. At this time, September 14, 2006 I continue to have this problem. Specifically when it rains or is humid. I currently have driven my truck approx 200 miles in the past 4 days without any of these items working. During these 6 months, I would approximate this issue as 1x per week problem, with the resolution being a hard hit on the dash while I am driving. However, I am at the point now where hitting the dash does not solve the problem. Here is a list of things not working when I have this failure. The air bag light blinks upon start up then stays illuminated. No dome lights no speedometer no tripometer no odometer no tach no fuel no engine temp no operating volts no oil pressue no audible alarm the key is in the ignition no audible alarm when the lights are left on no auto power locks no power windows (therefore stuck in position of last normal operation) no radio no ac no defrost (problem occurs when humidity is high = fogging windows. ) I feel I have some safety issues that make this truck unsafe. I am at 50,000 miles warranty, how do I get the mfg to fix correctly, for free.
