The front brakes have shuddered when applied since purchasing the truck new. As a result of this shudder, the rotors have warped and worn so thin they now have to be replaced. If we had not just bought new tires, we would never had known that the brakes were ready to fail. Ford has known about the shudder problem since 2004 and in fact, made a design change to the front brakes beginning on November 29, 2004. However, they refuse to cover the work under warranty or send out a recall for this defect.

My husband has taken our 2005 Ford F-150 to the dealer we purchased it from twice concerning brakes and rotors. The first time was around 7,400 miles. They turned the rotors and said all was fine. At around 18,000 mile he again had to go back due to a bad vibration. They turned the rotors yet again instead of replacing them. We had new tires put on our truck yesterday and we were informed the brakes and rotors are nearly shot. This is at only 28,000 miles. This has to be due to a defect in the workmanship. I know of no other vehicle I have driven that has had these problems early on.

: the contact stated while applying pressure to the brake pedal, the vehicle would not stop. The dealership determined the rotors were warped and the front and rear rotors were replaced.
My 04 Ford f150 supercrew 4x4, at 10,000 miles noticed brakes and rotors starting to wear. At 17,000 miles they were destroyed. Talked to the dealer and he said that it was normal wear and would cost me over $400 to fix it. The trucks under warranty, why should I pay for a manufacturer flaw in the brake system. I called Ford direct and got someone who was reading answers out of a book and was absolutely no help. I e-mailed Ford and their response was all dealers are independent and can charge whatever they want!! and never did give me an answer about my brakes. I finally talked to a friend who's father IA high up the Ford ladder. He had someone give me a "deal" and repair my truck at a small cost. Why should I have to get a "deal" when my truck is still under warranty? new brakes have 500 miles on them and already see the new rotors starting to groove!!! Ford has not helped one bit in this problem I own two Fords, cant wait to get rid of them. There will be no more Fords in this family!!.
I have discovered what may be a factory defect in the 2004 Ford f150 truck in relation to design and application. I just spent $500 in putting on new front rotors on my truck, however there was plenty of life left on the front pads. So if the rotors have to be replaced after 40,000 miles when the front pads are still good, then there is a problem.
I experienced extreme front brake shudder after only 6200 miles on this vehicle. I feel that this is a serious design fault of the front rotors. I had the vehicle serviced under warranty and the front rotors were cut. I am just waiting for the rotors to warp again, and hopefully they won't cause an accident. No help from inquiries with Ford motor company about this problem.
2005 Ford F-150. Recurring brake problem in approx 28,000 I have had the vehicle back to the dealer 5 times as brakes squeal and grind. Approx every 4 - 5,000 miles, the same problem occurs.
At 20,000 miles I took my 2005 f150 supercrew XLT 4x4 into firestone, to have the brakes checked. The technician informed me that there appeared to be nothing wrong with the pads, as I still had about 65-70% left on them. However there was an issue with the rotors. He stated they were warped. Knowing this is not normal, I asked if this was a common thing on the new model Fords. And he stated that they have had a lot of them in for the exact same thing, warped rotors. I told him to put the truck back together and would take to Ford. He stated that the reason they were warping, was because of a design defect which did not allow them to get enough air to cool, and if brakes were applied hard, then caused them to warp. I took the truck to Ford dealership ( jenkins and wynne in clarksville, TN. ) informed the service writer. As I was speaking to him, a tech from the shop walked in, and said there was a big problem with them. They took my truck into the shop, and after a day informed me that my truck had the "new and improved brakes" already installed. I asked how they could be new and improved if doing the same as the old style. They stated they would take care of me. When I inquired as to the how? the service writer stated " we will machine them. " I told him that just means that they were going to grind the rotors flat, and that it wasn't fixing the issue. I would just have to have a complete total brake replacement at 40,000 miles. He commented that there was nothing they could do. I asked if this was normal for trucks to be coming in with warped rotors at 20,000 miles, and he just shrugged his shoulders. I asked him, what are we as truck owners supposed to do, replace the rotors every 30-40,000 miles. Again he just shrugged and said there was nothing he could do. After they ground the rotors, and put the truck back together, less than 500 miles they started doing the same thing, and I almost had an accident. They will "pulse and the vehicle will lurch".
: the contact stated upon yearly state inspection, it was determined the rotors had too much porosity during the casting process. As a result, the rotors must be replaced in order for the vehicle to pass this year's inspection; however no repairs were made.

Had my f150 for less than 3 months when noticed the vibration when applying the brakes, also has rough idle, and rough suspension. Took to dealer they stated nothing wrong. . . Well now its been about 9 month and the vibration has gotten so bad that when brakes are applied you get the steering wheel shaking along with the truck. Again I took to the dealer now they tell me my rotors are warped and I need an alignment and new tires cause it ate the tread off the inside of the tires, and they want to charge me $400. 00. I talked to the tire warranty department he even said that it shouldn't be happening along with many others. But Ford service says it normal. . . . . Now I am driving a truck with kids that is unsafe. Are they wanting for people to die before they correct this problem??.
Front rotors warped within 9000 miles and when brakes are applied the steering wheel jumps and vibrates uncontrolibly rotors were resurfaced at 10,293 miles then replaced at 11,475 miles and replaced again at 17,158 miles and at this time I was told that the warranty would expire at 23,475 miles on the rotors and I would have to pay for replacement parts and labor after this mileage as of this date I have 20,400 miles on vehicle and the rotors again are starting to warp which causes vibration when brakes are applied.
Excessive frame/tire "wobble" 2005 Ford f150 4x4. Vibration at 50-70 mph, brake pads, rotors overheating causing warped rotors then increasing vibration with possible "death wobble" . Tested 3 2005 f150 with service manager "lyle" who confirmed and later backtracked with "ford2005 f150 trucks wobble and its normal. . . . . . . . .
The consumer's 2000 Ford f150 has had three set of rotors and the truck only has 62000 miles. Currently the vehicle needs another set of rotors.

Vibration on take-off when cold from rear-end. Ford won't fix extreme brake rotor wear for a new truck with only 12000 mles. Ford says this is normal. I don't think so.
I have a new Ford f150 super crew that has had three sets of rotors , stabilizer bars, tires, brakes, brake cluster, etc. I now have 18,000 miles on this truck and it is needing another set of rotors now. It is completely unsafe to drive and we have children and are afraid to take them any where in this vehicle. I have other that I can provide info that has had the same problems. I need help with this and I am going to explore every avenue possible to see that no one is injured do to this defect.
With 4k miles, the brake rotors were scarred extremely bad. The dealer and the manufacturer stated that this problem was due to normal wear. The consumer stated that the vehicle is under full warranty. The consumer stated that he can not afford to get the vehicle fixed.
The front brake rotors are so warped that when applying the brakes the front of the vehicle shakes, and the vehicle is difficult to control. Owner contacted the manufacturer , and was informed that what the driver was experiencing was normal.
I am going to give you a view of what has happened with this truck in the 2 months that I have owned this new truck. The day after I bought the truck I took it back for a vibration in the breaks and a vibration in the wheels at 30 and 75 well as I am sure all of you know the vibration in the wheels at those speeds was the tires are out of round and well the breaks well we are still on that one I also had a vibration in the rear end. Well they told me that they had to get new tires and that the rear end was bad. So now that they have replaced the rear end and replaced the tires and rebuilt the break system that still does not work, and now the window falls off track and I smell something burning in the truck like plastic also let me add that the keypad does not work. Now remember that this truck in two (2) months old I bought it on August 23 2004 and it is now November 9, 2004. So what do you think that I should do??? I do appreciate all the input .
The vehicle would shimmy/vibrate when braking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer had to turn both front rotors. The consumer has a concern that the rotors were wearing prematurely.
Complaint received via e-mail. While driving down a hills state road applied the brakes and the car started to shimmer, and the steering wheel started to shake very badly. I was scared to death. Luckily, we made it to the park in one piece. I drove home and called the dealer. The dealership, upon inspection of the vehicle, indicated that the 2 front rotors were badly warped. They machine them down just shy of the minimum, and did not replace them because the warranty book indicated replacement only if it was beyond the maximum allowed.
Brakes warping. . . Abs comes on,brakes start pumping. . . . . . Turn the brake disc about three times, replaced brake disc four times in twenty thousand miles on f 150 Ford pickup truck. . . . . . . .
Disc brake defect- I own a 2004 F-150 supercrew. Two of my friends own one each as well. The disks are too small for the weight of the vehicle. Mine have already warped twice. They finally stopped turning them which only makes the warping faster, and put a new set on. The only problem is that tehy will do the same thing. My friends are having the same problem and Ford acknowleges the problem although I don't see it as a recell item. I dont know what Ford will do once these trucks are out of warranty. They always try to sell extended but I will not bite as I know that this is a design defect. 2. I believe that most people will drive on the warped brakes making them brake differently in bad conditions. I believe that brakes are a major componant of any moving vehicle and that in nearly all dangerous situations in a vehicle brakes are applied and depended upon. 3. I talked planet Ford in to replacing the rotors. They wanted to turn them a second time. According to posts on different web sites, the warping in the front rotors and the groving in the rear rotors has become a major issue.
2004 Ford f150 XLT 4wd supercab(brakes constantly squealing)conditions were normal even braking. I never had to slam on the brakes. 've brought my vehicle back to Ford dealership three times over a period of 4 months. Corrective actions are scuffing the brake pads and deglazing the rotors. It's fine for a month and the squealing is back as well as a deposit of brake dust on the wheel. I've also had two incidents concerning the electronic accelrator(Ford calls this drive by wire as it is digitally controlled acceleration)the trouble light displayed in dash panel twice over a period of 4 months. The last incident caused the vehicle engine to violently sputter and misfire causing loss of power . The vehicle was checked with diagnostic equipment and I was told that nothing appeared wrong with the accelerator module. The brakes I can live with but the electronic accelerator is paramount for the vehicle to function. No accelerator(digital) no go. Loss of power, control and you might cause an accident causing injury to you and others.
Vehicle was taken to the dealer because the vehicle would shimmy while driving 35 mph or more. The dealer turned the rotors. After 6000 miles the problem resurfaced. . Please provide any further information.
I have a 2004 F-150 XLT extended cab pickup. I hae had the truck for 5 months and ever since the first month I have had brake problems. My brakes and rotors keep getting tore up and Ford is saying that I have used tire shine and that is what "ate" my brakes up. I have only used tire shine once! also, my tires are only 5 months old and they are extremley wore out. I have told the Ford dealer about this and they said it is normal on a 4x4. I have asked 2 other Ford dealers and they said they have never heard of it being "normal" on a 4x4. In either case Ford is unwilling to replace the tires. Also their customer service hotline is not worth it, their attitude is OH well it is your problem not mine. I am very unhappy with Ford.
While coming to a stop sign I noticed the steering wheel starting to shake. It progressively, became worse so I took it in to my local Ford dealer. The first time they said they found nothing, then as it got worse they found the rotors warped. They replaced the rotors and pads. About 4-5 months went by and I noticed the steering wheel starting to shake again. I brought it to a different dealer, kearny mesa Ford and the found the rotors warped again. This time they wanted to machine the rotors, instead of replacing them. I pushed them into replacing the rotors and pads again. This took a day or so to get them to do this. Once again, 4-5 months down the road, the steering wheel started to shake. This time encinitas Ford said that Ford would not replace anything regarding the brakes. I informed them of all the other complaints on this site and only then did they get back to me saying they would replace the rotors but not the pads. Magically, their service director said that Ford had newer rotors available, but they flat out refused to replace the pads. So as of now I have new rotors and I am getting new pads put on somewhere else. I would not give them any of my money to replace the pads. I would rather have another mechanic do the work. We will see how long these rotors last!.
At 39,000 mi ,front rotor became warped, replaced. At 43,000 mi grinding noise coming from rt front wheel after several minutes of use in city traffic. Mechanic could not find anything wrong.
Vibration when brakes applied.
