1 Brakes Failed problem of the 2021 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/30/2021

The trailer braking system on my new 2021 f150 powerboost malfunctions every once in a while. While towing my 27 ft airstream trailer the brakes will often stop working. They always work when I begin a trip, but then the brakes fail during the trip. I receive a notice when attempting to manually apply trailer brakes from inside the cab that the trailer is not recognized. Several other new f150 powerboost owners are experiencing the same issue and their experiences can be found on the f150gen14. Com user forum. I have included a link to the forum thread. . 2 Brakes Failed problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/24/2021

I was pulling into a left turning lane behind another truck. Brakes failed to slow the truck. As I applied more brake the engine stopped but vehicle still moved forward at a slow speed. The abs seemed to be trying to work as the truck "bucked" like abs was trying to work even at this slow speed. I bumped into the truck in front of me. He only sustained a very small dent in his bumper. My truck would not start. I had to shift it in and out of park several time and it finally started. I sustained about $3000 damage my truck. The truck was put on a computer by a Ford dealer and it showed no problems.

3 Brakes Failed problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/13/2021

Good day to whom it may concern, on February 13,2021 I had a major brake failure while parking my truck when the brake pedal went to the floor as I was backing up. The reason this is a concern is that I regularly have my vehicle serviced at only Ford dealerships. The two most recent times I had service was on January 21,2021 the works oil and filter change which incudes inspecting inspecting the brake system; and October 27,2020 the works oil and filter change which includes inspecting the brake system at which time I had rear brake work done by future Ford Lincoln of concord 2258 diamond blvd. Concord CA. 94520. The technician said it was to much pressure applied to my brakes while backing up and parking. I have not ever experienced this through over 40 years of driving and it is a very concerning issue that I would like to know if it can be investigated into please. Thank you.

6 Brakes Failed problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/11/2020

While traveling at highway speed, while towing our RV, "low brake fluid" warning light came on and brakes failed. The only way I could safely stop was using the trailer brakes. I believe our vehicle should have been included in current recall, but Ford is stating our VIN is not part of recall.

7 Brakes Failed problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/28/2020

Brake failure going down a hill, brake pedal went to the floor. Pumped the brakes however it did not help. No warning about a brake problem before it happened. Truck rolled to a stop at the bottom of the hill on flat terrain. I was fortunate no other vehicles or pedistrains were on the hill at this time. Vehicle is at Ford dealer trying to determine cause of brake failure. Date of failure 7/28/2020.

8 Brakes Failed problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/26/2020

Complete, sudden, unexpected brake failure. Brake pedal went straight to the floor with no warning. So dangerous. This happened on the interstate at 70 mph towing my travel trailer with my family in the car.

9 Brakes Failed problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/14/2020

I was in my driveway sitting stationary in my vehicle buckling up to depart for the store. I put my foot on the brake pedal to push the start button. After starting I moved the shift lever to put the vehicle in gear and the vehicle started to roll and my brake pedal went to the floor. Because my driveway has a slight ramp to it the vehicle kept rolling forward, I kept hitting the brake pedal but the brake pedal kept going to the floor and the vehicle would not stop. As a result I rolled into a block fence across from my driveway knocking it down and damaging my vehicle. Vehicle was just rolling under its own momentum, no power to the drive train. No injuries, but fence was down and vehicle hood and other front end areas were damaged. I have no idea what caused the brakes to fail. Filed an insurance claim and had to have vehicle towed to dealer for body repairs and neighbors fence repaired.

10 Brakes Failed problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/26/2020

Driving down the road early in the morning and lost both front and back brakes. When the brake was pressed down completely the truck did not stop; pumping the brake caused the truck to slow but not quickly. We saw an empty mall area and headed towards the parking lot and coasted to a stop. Had we been on the freeway or later in the day during traffic this could have been a serious accident. We were driving on a 2 lane road in a city area going about 40 mph. We were very very lucky - this could easily cause a serious accident. Local brake company were able to get the brakes working and we drove the truck back to the house - a few hour drive. Received notice of the recall about 3-4 days after the brakes failed and we did not drive the truck. We called the dealer and they told us nothing could be done because the fix had not been solved by Ford, we asked if the truck was drivable and they could not answer as the recall is unclear. We asked the dealer if we could drop truck off and they could fix and they told us no because they did not have parts and did not know what the fix was going to be. Called Ford and talked to a customer service person and they called the dealership and had them take the truck since neither Ford or the dealer could tell us if the truck was drivable. The dealer told us they would look at the truck to determine if the truck was drivable - that was June 27, 2020 and we have not heard back from dealer. Called dealer again on 07. 16. 20 and talked and they still did not know and would call back, no call back as of 11pm 06/18/2020.

11 Brakes Failed problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/07/2020

Brake failure. Brake pedal went completely to the floor and vehicle did not stop until it hit a tree. I pressed the brake, started the car. The brake pedal did not feel abnormal. With my foot still on the pedal, I put the vehicle in reverse. The pedal immediately went soft and completely to the floor. Since I was in my driveway only planning to move the vehicle back about 3 feet, I did not close the door. When the vehicle did not stop, its door caught a tree and bent backwards into the front fender. The vehicle stopped because the door caught the tree. The only warning displayed on dashboard was that the door was open and the car was not in park. After incident I turned on power to vehicle without starting to record the mileage on the vehicle for my insurance company and that is when the low brake fluid warning came on.

12 Brakes Failed problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/30/2020

Driving on the highway Saturday may 30 and without warning the brake fluid low warning light started flashing. The brakes were barely usuable and the pedal had no pressure and stopped just off the floor. I could use the brakes but very slow to stop the vehicle. I could use the pedal for the emergency brakes but just barely. I was driving on an interstate at 65mph , towing a 23' boat, I was not using the brakes at the time of failure, there was no warning prior to the failure. I had the truck serviced on may 13th and had casually looked the night before the trip and noted no problems. I stopped bought fluid and filled the fluid reservoir and 15 miles later the same warning light came on. Stopped and looked for leaks under vehicle and at each wheel and nothing evident. Had someone meet me and tow the boat for me as I limped the vehicle to dealer.

18 Brakes Failed problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/02/2019

Hard brake pedal resulting in no or very little braking when engine is cold and vehicle is stationary, every day, every time I start the vehicle. Once the pump begins working or becomes unstuck, I do have brakes, however I am very concerned that this will result in brake failure and an accident with serious injury to me and my passengers. This vehicle has had a recall on certain models for this issue resulting from a bad vacuum pump. Ford customer service has said my vehicle is not involved in the recall. It obviously is, because it is the exact same problem involved in the recall.

19 Brakes Failed problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/16/2019

2013 Ford F-150 platinum truck. I got in my truck and pulled out of a parking lot. I was about to turn and get on the interstate. A car was in front of me and when I mashed the brakes the petal was stiff. There was a noise coming from the brakes. It seemed. I was able to move to the side of the rode before striking the rear of the car and come to a stop. I then proceeded slowly to an empty parking lot. I got out and walked around the vehicle and looked under the hood. No leaks that I could see and the brake reservoir was full. I drove around the parking lot and mashed the brakes several time and then it went back to working. This has been happening on several occasions. I see a recall but it is not for my VIN. Why? this is a very serious safety hazard so why is Ford not taking this serious. I have been in the fire service for 31 years and have seen the outcome of brake failure. This is not good.

28 Brakes Failed problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/06/2019

While driving a low brake fluid warning popped up on my display. I was one block from home. I noticed nothing wrong with the vehicle. I read my drivers manual. It said to check the fluid brake levels. If the levels were not between the minimum and maximum range call your dealer for service. I made an appointment. However when I got back in my vehicle and backed out of my garage to drive to the dealer the brakes went straight to the floor and I was unable to stop without slamming on my parking brake. Scared me to death. No one was hurt luckily. I had no warning of total brake failure other than a warning light moments before indicating low brake fluid levels. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. They offered to repair the vehicle and offered no information about this frequency or spontaneous dangerous potential with the vehicle. I am furious. It could've killed me or my family or others. I will sell the vehicle as soon as it is repaired and I can do so. These vehicles are not safe to be on the road in my opinion.

31 Brakes Failed problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/18/2019

I have a 2012 F-150 with the 3. 5l ecoboost engine, 100,000 miles. I have been having problems with no power brakes when truck is initially started and the dealer diagnosed this as a failed vacuum pump this typically happens at slow speeds the first several times you stop. A recall was forced in canada and a customer satisfaction warranty extension is in place in the USA (15n05). Both cover the 2011 to 2012 F-150 with ecoboost engine. For some reason my VIN is not included in the recall & customer satisfaction policy. Brakes intermittently have no power assist and its very difficult to stop truck, especially when you arent expecting the brakes to fail like that. This is a common problem and I have contacted Ford customer service - but all they will tell me is my VIN isnt covered. They need to expand this to cover more vehicles - its a huge safety related issue. I cant believe no recall has been issued.

32 Brakes Failed problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

The contact purchased an extended warranty on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact scheduled another appointment with the dealer to re-check the brakes. The failure mileage was 92,500.

33 Brakes Failed problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/26/2018

Billy cain Ford sold a truck to me as low mileage with no carfax damage. Salesman tom chacko promised a carfax report at closing. He failed to produce the report upon delivery to me at work. Tom vowed the truck had no damages. Carfax/auto check showed 4 brake failures and 2 alternator failures. Greene Ford verified flood damage 12-11-18. Tom chacko denied their findings 12-12-18, requested written report. Lemon squad documented flood damage 12-26-18. All three reports show consistent flood damage. Jason pirkle warranty/finance manager refused to repair failed emissions stating they were not covered under my extended warranty purchase. The emissions coded 170mi after purchase indicating that code was reset before my purchase. The emissions damage was covered under emissions performance warranty coverage federal mandate. Greene Ford gladly repaired the emissions with no issues. Jason pirkle presented the truck to wells fargo bank, state farm insurance, and Ford motor warranty division as undamaged value. The truck only has salvage value because of the flood damage. Over $5000 in repairs and 34 days in the repair shop. The truck has massive electrical issues from flood damage. I have not driven the truck since 12-11-2018. Major efforts were taken to deceive the buyer of this truck. If billy cain Ford had presented the truck truthfully I would have never purchased the truck. Billy cain Ford did a purchase inspection, maintenance service inspection, and complete detail so they had knowledge of flood damage. A registered mail request for buy back was sent to cody cain 1-17-2019 and he not responded to the request. Billy cain Ford has not made a honest written offer to resolve this issue to date.

34 Brakes Failed problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/12/2018

While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost all ability to brake. The foot pedal went down to the floor with no resistance or action on the vehicle. The parking brake also failed all ability to slow down or stop the vehicle. By some miracle I was able to get in the emergency lane and let the vehicle eventually slow down and come to a stop. The sudden loss of brakes happened while I was driving on a straight highway, with no obstacles of any type on the road and no evidence of damage to the vehicle. I have a video taken while waiting on the tow truck, showing the brake pedal going straight to the floor.

35 Brakes Failed problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/09/2018

Catastrophic / complete brake failure will moving. Brake peddle went to floor while exiting highway. Seconds before applying brakes, "low brake fluid" warning came on. Thankfully it was a long exit ramp and was able to stop vehicle with down shifting and emergency brake. Very dangerous!!!!!! no prior indication of problem. Inspected fluid and it was below minimum. Vehicle had be serviced 2 weeks prior and all fluids full. Added fluid and pumping brakes several time, fluid was empty again. Had vehicle towed to dealer.
