In July 2007, I purchased a new Ford f150 pickup truck. In December 2007, 3 times in one day I depressed the brake pedal and the truck accelerated for no apparent reason. I ran a stop sign, but luckily did not hit anything. I immediately returned the truck to the dealership, but the service department could find nothing wrong. I continued to drive the truck with no problems until January 2008, when again 3 times in one day, I depressed the brake pedal and the truck accelerated. Again, I ran a stop sign, but did not hit anything. No warning lights came on. One time I put the truck in neutral and watched the tachometer go up to 4000 rpms as the engine revved. I am absolutely certain I did not have my foot accidentally on the accelerator pedal for any of these incidences. I returned the truck to the dealership where the service department could find nothing wrong. They installed a "black box recording device" and drove the truck for 3 days, but still could find nothing wrong.

: the contact stated that when applying the brakes the accelerator systematically depressed as well. On the first occasion while traveling 55 mph and the vehicle almost crashed into a train. There have been other incidents where the vehicle could have hit pedestrians and caused other major accidents. These incidences occurred under normal driving conditions. The vehicle was test driven by the dealer however they could not determine the cause of the problem. However the dealer indicated that the problem may be related to the recall pertaining to the speed control switch disconnecting. 08/02/06 contact stated on several occasions, due to the location of the break pedal and the accelerator pedal, contact has mashed both pedals at the same time while trying to stop.

I have not had a failure at this time. The problem is the brakes on my 2005 F-150. The pedal has always been mushy and engages the brakes at different levels when applied, I never where the braking will begin. Some times if I am parking a trailer where the brakes are used a lot the pedal will be almost to the floor. I did almost back into a car when parking because the brakes didn't engage until pedal was quite low.

Loss of braking. Brake pedal went to the floor. Could pump up brakes for partial braking, but brakes would not hold. Vehicle was towed to bartow Ford, bartow, FL on 3/29/06, but was not looked at until 3/30/06. Service department could not replicate the problem and could find nothing wrong. Tow truck operator mentioned to me that he had towed another 2004 Ford F-150 the previous week that had the same problem with loss of braking.

: the contact stated while driving 10 mph the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle accelerated forward crashing into another vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the problem could not be duplicated. No police report was filed however; a representative from the dmv filed a report. Update 5/2/2006 -.
: the contact stated while driving 10 mph attempting to apply brake pressure around a curve the vehicle accelerated without warning. This occurred on a normal road during normal braking. The driver was wearing a seat belt and a police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle went into a three foot ditch and had to be pulled out. It sustained frontal damage and the tow bar was bent. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection. They replaced the tow hook, front license plate bracket and balanced the front end of the vehicle. However, after the accident, the contact received recall #06c11, concerning the hydraulic and electrical brake system. The manufacturer was alerted.
When starting my vehicle in the parking lot it sputtered and did not start the first time. No problem the second time. After starting the second time I noticed the power brakes did not work. I turned the truck off to try to reset the system, still no brakes. I drove home very carefully using my entire body weight to stop the vehicle at stop lights. There would be no way to stop if I did not have plenty of room in front of me. I took the truck into the Ford dealer and was told a hose is leaking or has come loose behind the intake manifold. Cost approx 700. 00. I have contacted Ford for potential payment.
On Friday, November 18,2005, while traveling through the roanoke, va area, I descended down a mountain highway. As I neared the bottom of the steep incline, I noticed a backup of traffic in both lanes. Slowing up as I neared the traffic in front of me, I noticed the vehicle in front of me slowed almost to a stop to allow two vehicles from the left lane to merge in front of it. Suddenly, the vehicle came to an abrupt stop unexpectedly thereby alerting me to instantly stop my vehicle to avoid an impact to the vehicle in front of me. As I depressed the brake pedal fully (instantly), the truck began to slow up and "shutter" or a "pulsating" motion of slowing down. The truck came closer to the vehicle in front of me, but did not stop!!!! this shuttering of the brake system was the abs system becoming activated. Because of this activation, my vehicle failed to stop in time and thus impacting the vehicle in front of me with minor damage. After I eventually stopped, I noticed I did leave skid marks on the asphalt pavement. The weather was clear and no precipitation, pavement was dry. I feel that under normal hydraulic braking system, I would have stopped in time to avoid this mishap. I did have enough time and distance to stop to avoid the mishap. This is not the first time this abs system has engaged itself prior to my stopping due to stopped vehicles in front of me. I have yet to have an evaluation done on the truck to determine if there is a defect since the abs system, without question, does engage as it should. My concern is that abs does not lock up the brakes as it is designed to do, however, this causes the vehicle from fully stopping when necessary. I don't think this was part of it's intended design. There were no injuries or deaths in either of my mishaps, however, these were slow speeds.
On September 2, 2005 vehicle skidded while coming to a stop. It skidded three times since then, twice while stopping at a traffic light, and while trying to make a turn into the driveway. Also, the vehicle vibrated. This happened intermittently, and t happened on dry pavement. Took vehicle to the dealer, they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. There was no forewarning and there was no noise.

Brakes & rack and pinion bar.
While driving 55 mph consumer applied the brakes, for a bump on the highway. A clicking noise was heard coming from underneath the dashboard. Abs braking system disengaged. Causing loss of braking power. Consumer released the brake pedal. Then reapplied the brakes in order to stop. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the abs modular needed to be replaced.
Abs brake problems; when applying brakes in an emergency situation, under wet road conditions, the system locked up, resulting in a roll over. I had noticed this in the past and took it to a dealer and was told it was just the natural for a Ford.
Driver side front brake has locked up in moist weather conditions. Skid occurred.
While following other vehicles, they stopped for a turning car and when I applied my brakes nothing happened. I was practically standing on the brake pedal with no results. My truck plowed into the back of another truck which then hit a third vehicle. I was injured and the truck I hit was totalled. Dt.
Brake pedal will go all the way to the floor. Brakes are warped. Dealership is aware of problem.
Same problem on recall of 1995-1996 Ford Mini vans. No safety defect listed.
Consumer noticed extended stopping distance. Vehicle was inspected, and discovered that rear leaf springs were bent and needed to be replaced. Both rear leaf springs were replaced one year ago.
Stress cracks inside of frame of driver's side door and passenger's side door. Also, abs braking system isn't operable, and brake pedal goes all the way down to the floor. Dealership is aware of problem.
While making a right hand turn consumer tapped the brakes and felt abs coming on, but vehicle did not slowdown, had to use emergency brakes to stop, it usually happens with a hard turn, consumer felt that if it happened on a busy street someone could had been injured. Consumer stated that the wires which are going from brake to the right front tire, were giving a false reading of a tire lock up.

While driving vehicle 15 to 20 mph brakes locked up. When applying abs brakes vehicle did not stop, it pulled to left. Consumer lost control of vehicle, and vehicle went down an embankment. Contacted dealer and scheduled an appointment.
Consumer was traveling 50mph, just came though a four way stop, entered intersection, and rear in came apart/ brakes went to the floor , and abs braking system malfunctioned. Vehicle started sliding ,and brake pedal went all the way to the floor.
Proceeded down wet highway at 40 mph. Vehicle ahead slowed. Applied brakes, had full lockup and hit car ahead at est 7 mph speed. Antilock system did not activate at all. Had noticed tis phenomena at stop signs in wet condition before, had checked at dealer, no problem found by technician. I feel that this is a problem associated only with wet road conditions. Software problem rather than mechanical. Am aware of other cases. Although my damage minor, I feel this should be investigated due to potential serious nature of problem.
While attempting to make a gradual stop abs braking system causes brake pedal to become difficult to depress. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide further details.
