The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact stated that the failure occurred while it was raining. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and the brake pedal had to be depressed several times before the brakes responded as needed. In addition, the low brake fluid warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed brake master cylinder. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 16v345000 (service brakes, hydraulic) in November 2016, which included the replacement of the brake master cylinder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 158,837.
My 2014 f150 listed above is having braking issues. The pedal is hard as a rock at times and you have to put all of your weight into stopping the vehicle. When this occurs it makes a gurggling sound out at the brake booster. Upon viewing some mechanical sites on the net this has been a recall for this year model truck as the master cylinder could be leaking into the booster and or the brake booster has gone bad. I put in my vehicle VIN and it shows zero recalls for my truck. How can this be when it's exactly what has happened to others of the same year regaurdless of where it was built. My 17 year old son drove this to school today and almost hit another vehicle upon parking as the pedal got so hard he could hardly stop the truck from hitting them, the light did come on in the dash panel but went out. Will this be a recall in the near future before someone is seriously injured? are we supposed to get this fix at our expense? please contact us at your earliest convenience to help us with this matter.

Brake master cylinder failed. Sudden, complete loss of brake pressure with all the brake fluid leaking into brake booster. I had to replace the unit as the car was not drivable even after adding fluid. The unit has not been inspected. Brake fluid indicator came on when there was a sudden loss of fluid due to the master cylinder failure,.

As I was driving home. I noticed that my brake pressure was getting low. When I came to a complete stop my foot went to the floor of the truck. Luckily I was able to pull over. When I checked the brake master cylinder reservoir the brake fluid was completly gone. I was reading that Ford issued a recall on on the 2014-17 Ford F-150 vehicles built at kansas city assembly plant, sept. 1, 2014 to Aug. 1, 2016 which mine was. I contacted Ford motor company and they stated that the recall was on a the 3. 4 eco boost engine and and not the 2. 7 which mine has. How does engine displacement make a difference on a defective hydraulically master cylinder.

The contact owns a Ford 2016 F-150. The contact stated while driving at 55mph, a warning light illuminated from the vehicle stating no brake fluid in brake cylinder. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and added brake fluid. The contact continued to drive and after a few minutes the warning light reappeared. The contact was able to continue to drive back to their residence. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the failure as the master cylinder was leaking fluid into the brake booster. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
No brakes. Took to Ford. Does not fall under current recall of NHTSA campaign number 20v-332. However my Ford dealer is charging me to replace the same exact parts under the recall. Brake booster pump and brake master cylinder. Exactly what happened. No brakes. Brake fluid low. Added more brake fluid, not leaking under truck. Emergency brake still works. Had it towed to Ford 2 weeks ago. They are not returning my call. They did tell me they had to order brake booster pump, brake master cylinder and flush the brake lines. $3000 repair. Odd that this is the same repair under the recall.
Received low brake fluid warning and then catastrophic sudden brake loss to the vehicle. I used the emergency brake to slow and stop the vehicle . Master cylinder seal has failed and filled brake booster with brake fluid. Vehicle was in very light traffic when failure occurred. I have made repairs with new oem motorcraft parts to restore brakes. Vehicle mileage is 72k miles. 6. 2 v8 2wd. I have receipts of my repairs.
I have had no problems but ask to change DE brake master cylinder. . . But inhave had no leaks and nothing shows up in the dash. At the dealer they said they just carry the brake master cylinder. They dont have the brake booster. Am I safe? why asked to change a part when they dont have the othwr parte just in case?.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to immediately stop. The brake pedal was pushed to the floor however, the stopping distance was extended. The low brake fluid low message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake booster and brake master cylinder were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer keesee motor company located at 111 s broadway, cortez, CO 81321 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v345000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 60,000.
Doing approximately 45mph, in freezing temps and light snow, approached a yellow light. Had plenty of distance to stop and began to apply brakes. Truck began to slow, but suddenly felt like the brakes let go or maybe hit a patch of ice. Let off and depressed the pedal again. The pedal went to the floor. I began pumping them which was slowing the vehicle, but I ended up in the middle of the intersection, narrowly avoiding a side impact with a semi and looking like a moron. My entire family was in the truck and this was very close to a disaster. Afterwards the brakes were soft and continued to do the same. When the pedal was held down it would slowly go to the floor, feeling like all hydraulic pressure was bleeding off. The initial occurrence happened on a city road in motion. Of course the truck warranty ended about 500 miles prior. This vehicle has been babied, only used for weekends. Being told by dealer that a seal failed in the master cylinder and possibly a hydraulic control unit. Estimate to repair is over $2500 to repair a very new vehicle that costs over $50,000.

I recently had my low brake fluid warning come on, didn't think much of it at the time and added some dot4 fluid to my reservoir. Looked things over briefly, the reservoir seemed intact, master cylinder didn't appear wet, no spots on the garage floor, so all was good. After all the truck is 6+ years old, I just figured the time had just come to service the fluid and have the brakes looked at. Two weeks later I hadn't had time to get it to the shop and the warning appeared again. So I checked the reservoir and sure enough it was low again. So this time my investigation was deeper and I found fluid on the bottom of the master cylinder when I wiped my hand under it. The found more below the master cylinder on the shock mount and inner fender well. So I started shopping and checking prices on parts I might need to fix this and happened on this article on today's google, about a recall. So I went to the ntsb web site and checked my VIN #. Nope no recall for my VIN #. Went back to the article and reread it. So it seams that my 2014 with the made in dearborn sticker still in the front window is not part of the recall that describes my problem to the t ! I certainly believe it does, as do the pro's I've shown. I'm an a&p faa ndt inspector and deal with these very issues in the airline business daily and think there might be an oversight to the number of trucks included in the recall. I plan to go ahead with my repairs because I need it, but hope you will examine your scope of this more closely. Thanks for the service you provide to keep us safe!.
On 11/15/2020 the brake pedal in my 2014 Ford f150 with ecoboost went to the floor while waiting at a stop light. The brake pedal could be pumped up, however would bleed off to the floor with constant moderate pressure. With no external leaks, this indicates a failed master cylinder. I see there are two recalls on the 2014 Ford f150 with ecoboost that cover all of the 2014 model except for trucks built in June and July 2014. Master cylinder failures and leaks are common in 2014 f150 with ecoboost and this is extremely unsafe. Luckily although I had 3 other passengers and towing a utility trailer no one was injured. Currently my truck is in the small gap between two recalls. This is unsatisfactory and Ford motor company should be held to account and provide vehicles with basic safety equipment in proper operating order.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while approaching a stop light at 35 mph, she attempted to depress the brake pedal however, the brakes failed to operate as needed, without warning. The vehicle proceeded through the red light. The contact was driven to the residence and then towed to peoria Ford (9130 w bell rd, peoria, az 85382) where the brake master cylinder was replaced due to a leak. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 20v332000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 24,613.
Brake pedals when pressed went right to the floor. The vehichile was stationary in my driveway. Had it towed to a Ford dealership. They replaced the master cylinder and booster pump. I have a f150 eco 3. 5.
Brake fluid filled the booster and ruined master cylinder.
Brakes extremely pedal sponge to the floor. Extreme brake stoppage. Vehicle was in motion and was able to stop slowly on city street. I sent it back to a near home to stay. Extremely close to collision. No damages. Replaced master cylinder to repair center. Dealership was not available.
Brake master cylinder spontaneously developed a leak causing significantly reduced braking while the vehicle was in motion. The pedal became very soft and went almost to the floorboard. This is the very problem described in recall 20v-332, but my manufacturing date is 9 days past the cut-off window of August 1, 2016. There are probably more trucks out there like mine waiting to fail.
2016 f150, 3. 5l, manuf kansas city October 2016. Complete brake failure resulting in a collision of the f150 and its towed trailer. Over $4,000 damage to f150 and trailer, and $1,066 to replace master brake cylinder and brake booster. Gaylord Ford (bill marsh) 1928 otsego Ave, gaylord, mi 49735 (989) 732-4835 so#927036 diagnosed: master cylinder leaking into brake booster safety recall 20s31. Owner advised f150 VIN was manufactured oct 2016, 3 months after 20s31 cut-off August 1, 2016. June 8, 2020 Ford motor company recall 20s31 chronology page 2: “Ford proposed conducting a customer satisfaction campaign to repair master cylinders if and when they fail and to continue monitoring the population of non-recalled vehicles. Due to the severity of this case at high-speed and potential for fatal and life changing injuries, full brake failure and none of the warning scenarios described by Ford in 4 items below; reasonableness on any public safety business standard would ‘red flag’ this wurst case scenario for investigation and review. Chronology page 1, ¶4 - loss of brake fluid: none of the following were observed. In this case “brake” illuminated on dash and then not illuminated to normal. Total brake failure followed 20 minutes later without any of these 4 Ford described scenarios a driver is to expect. 1) “the driver will receive an audible chime, a full screen message center alert, and a red brake warning indicator in the instrument cluster; all indicating that brake system service is required. ” 2) “braking ability would still be unchanged at that time. ” 3) “if a vehicle continues to be operated and additional fluid is depleted, the driver may begin to experience a change in brake pedal travel and feel. ” 4) “if a loss of brake fluid is substantial enough to reduce brake function to the front wheels, full braking function would remain in the rear wheel circuit. Indisputable evidence the failure is grossly worsened beyond 20s31 cut-off now into oct 2020.
Tl- the contact owns as 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the brake pedal failed. The contact stated that the pedal when to the floor board while driving. The contact added brake fluid to the vehicle. The contact also state on the instrument panel illuminated low brake fluid. The contact mention the vehicle was service previously of a manufacturer recall number 16s24 on the master cylinder. However the repair did not correct the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the vehicle was under a recall. The contact called five star Ford, 6618 ne loop 820, north richland hills, TX 76180, and informed them of the failure. The contact was informed the vehicle was not under a recall. The vehicle was later taken to five star Ford and was diagnosed that the master cylinder and brake buster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed of the same failure and was repaired. The contact also mention that there was a leak coming from the master cylinder unto the brake buster. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 143,000. My brakes went out while I was driving it and I almost crashed into other cars because of it. . There is a recall for this issue 20s31 already. According to the Ford website, the problem is with the brake master cylinder and brake booster, this repair will be completed free of charge for material and labor. The dealership , pinnacle Ford , is trying to charge me 1200. 00 for the repair because it has not been determined what is covered in the recall. I have been trying to reach somebody at Ford to handle the situation for 3 days. I finally reached somebody on the phone and they said I needed to call back because the system was down. Nobody seems to want to be responsible for this problem.
2013 Ford F-150 recalled by Ford in 2016 under recall 16v345000. Vehicle had the defective hitachi master cylinder replaced in may of 2017 by jenkins Ford in fort meade florida at no charge. On July 30th 2020 while traveling on an interstate depressed brake pedal, travelled to the floor with minimal braking and brake fluid low level light came on with warning chime. Remained in control to stop vehicle with no accident. Vehicle towed to bartow Ford, diagnosed as faulty master cylinder seal allowing complete bypass of brake fluid into the vacuum booster. Ford refused to pay for this repair $1282 claiming they had fixed this problem in 2017. Upon investigation confirmed that the defective hitachi master cylinder was replaced with another identical defective hitachi master cylinder. It makes no sense to try to correct a defect with the identical defective part when the braking of a 6000 pound vehicle is at stake! I just saw another recall just out for 2015 thru 2018 f150 with the same poorly designed single seal master cylinder. How many other complaints have there been for the replacement master cylinder also failing?.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard with the low brake fluid level warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to autonation Ford st. Petersburg (2525 34th street north, st. Petersburg, FL 33713) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder and brake booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.
The master cylinder is dumping the fluid from the primary reservoir into the brake booster, resulting in the loss of brakes. My vehicle was not covered by the previous recall (16s24), but is experiencing the same issue. My vehicle is a f150 platinum with the 3. 5l eco boost engine. The vehicle has approximately 87,000 miles. The brake loss occurred while the vehicle was sitting in a park.
Drove truck to work no issues. Went to leave for the day, pressed the brakes to shift into reverse and brake pedal went to the floor followed by a brake fluid low message. Checked fluid and it was below min line. Checked for leaks under and at each wheel. No fluid found. Contacted Ford to check for recall and they stated my truck was not part of their brake master cylinder recall.
I have a 2013 f150 that the brakes went out on. Mechanic diagnosing it says master cylinder is leaking into the brake booster. There is a safety recall for 2013-2014 f150's but mine is not included on this recall. . . Why? I was driving when I went to stop at a stop sign and the brake pedal went straight to the floor. I was lucky there wasn't a vehicle in front of me or I would have hit them. I was in a neighborhood.
When truck sits overnight and I start it , it emits a bluish white smoke for 5-15 seconds. I understand there is a recall on this and the brake master cylinder can leak into the booster ,but my vehicle VIN number is not included. Is my vehicle safe to drive?.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v332000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the low brake fluid warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to bo beuckman quality Ford located at 15675 manchester rd, ellisville, mo 63011, (636) 227-5700, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the brake system needed to be flushed. Additionally, the brake master cylinder and brake booster needed to be replaced. The dealer also confirmed that parts for the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 51,338. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Tl - the contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle in front of him stopped abruptly and his brakes failed while depressed without warning. Due to the failure, the contact rear ended the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. There were injuries reported at the scene and a police report was not filed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home from the scene of the accident. The contact initially took the vehicle to an independent body shop where they repaired the damage to the vehicle; however, upon a test drive, they discovered that the brakes remained faulty. The body shop then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they diagnosed the vehicle with a faulty master cylinder. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that his vehicle had been placed under NHTSA recall number:20v332(service brakes, hydraulic); however, the parts to repair the vehicle are unavailable. The contact never received a notice about the failure. The contact called bill brandt Ford(8100 brentwood blvd, brentwood, CA 94513) where they referred him to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified and informed him that they would reimburse him for the repair to the master cylinder. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000. While coming to a stop and applying the brakes, I've noticed over the last several days that the brakes have become soft, almost going completely to the floor at times. Also, while stopped and applying the brakes, the brake pedal slowly sinks towards the floor. I have check the truck for possible leaks and have found none apparent. The reservoir is down a bit but again, no visible leaks. I checked Ford's site for a possible recall and it says there is none. However, I know there is some 2013 and 2014 models with a master cylinder recall. I'm thinking maybe the recall didn't include enough vehicles because it sounds like my truck is having the same issue.
While in motion, light came on brake fluid low. I took it to a mechanic, and we looked, but didn't immediately see any puddle, or sign of rapid loss of fluid, filled master cylinder back up, and drove 15 miles home. On the way, I noticed the pedal was spongy, when I got home, I looked, and had lost 1/4 of the fluid in the master cylinder. I got in the truck, pressed the brake pedal, felt it going down, got out, and saw it was leaking rapidly from a junction of the brake hose going from the master cylinder to the (abs box?) where it goes from rubber to metal. I got a new one from the dealer today dublin Ford, dublin GA. [$33. 00] and noticed that is has been much improved ofer the original. This tells me that Ford knew it had a problem, which should have been a recall item, and didn't recall for it. It also tells me that there are probably a bunch of f150's out there that are at risk of brake failure due to the failure of a $33 part.

Backing out of garage and brakes suddenly went out, pedal to floor. Warning lights of low brake fluid. No leak anywhere around vehicle. Master cylinder fail. Truck only has 38000 miles.
Blower motor is turning on and off and I have no air when it is 80 degrees 90 degrees and hot! also, hadd to replace master cylinder and was told my truck was not part of recall with exact same problems as recall.
