The vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred. Additionally, the local dealer stated the recall software fix was not readily available. The manufacturer was contacted where case number cas17397322 was provided. And informed that the regional customer service representative would call. The failure mileage was 94,000. Ap.

My 2010 4. 6 2wd shuts down while driving at 40mph on the street. I've changed so many things and now just ordered thottle body yo see if it helps. No one can diagnose this problem because no check engine light. I lose power steering and all power to the vehicle. When I accelerate on the highway to merge or pass my truck looses power completely can not accelerate. It shudders for about 45 seconds check engine light comes on flashing and it suddenly comes back to life. I took it to my local Ford and they said it was a high pressure pump that needed to be replaced. I replaced it and it is still having the same issue. This seems to be a common issue with these trucks. The more research I have done the more I find about this same issue. Ford should be held liable and recall these trucks for this problem. I now have to take it to another Ford dealership hoping they can figure it out. Last Ford truck I will ever own.

Vehicle backfired and started shuttering upon acceleration. . . Check engine light came on replaced ignition coil 6. 1000 miles later, same situation cylinder 1&2. . . Replaced those coils and replaced spark plugs. Shuttering lessoned, still backfired on upon strong acceleration. Definitely a safety concern. The backfire does not trigger the engine light to come on. . . From the research I've done, this seams to be a common problem with the eco boost.

Vehicle runs rough and throws a check engine light. When the engine is warm it runs smoother. After trouble shooting possible problems, it was determined to probably be a sticky valve. It is my understanding, there was a recall on this particular issue. I want to know if this truck was serviced and the issue corrected while owned by the original owner. If yes, it is broken again.

Tl- the contact owns 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempted to drive the vehicle, it failed to drive and reversed. The check engine warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that when the gear shifter in drive position, it does not show on the instrument panel the vehicle in drive. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000. Aw.

The vehicle shut down while driving. Had no throttle. Pulled off road vehicle was idling erratically still no throttle multiple warning lights. Shut vehicle off, restarted, all trouble lights were off except check engine light. Vehicle ran ok for a while. This happened 7 more times within 150 miles. This is very dangerous, if I had been in traffic I would not been able to get off the road. Got the vehicle to Ford. They cleared all the codes and said they could not find the problem. They wanted me to pick up my vehicle, I refused. I researched the issue and found many people with the same problem. The fix was the throttle body. I passed this info on to the Ford dealer. They replaced my throttle body, problem fixed. I was lucky, I had 150 miles left on my warranty, most others didn't.

The contact stated that at various speeds the contact would notice an abnormal smell coming from the fuel tank which resulted in the check engine warning lights illuminated. No leaks were found. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to contact NHTSA to make a complaint. 2015 Ford F-150 ecoboost, bought April 2018 with approx. 67,000 miles, currently at approx. 75,000 miles. I am reporting the sudden loss of accelerating power as the vehicle shudders and stalls both when moving with traffic or accelerating to enter or move with traffic. Multiple warning messages including the wrench light flash in the dash message area as the engine slows to idle with no ability to accelerate and comes to a stuttering stop. The first occurrence was three weeks ago and has happened no less than six time since - twice while accelerating onto the freeway (very busy, very fast traffic) and twice while crossing or turning in multi-lane intersections from stopped. Four of the six times resulted in my vehicle dying in and obstructing traffic with and me barely getting to the side of the road without an accident. I now shift to neutral to let momentum move the vehicle as I worm through traffic to the side of the road. Shutting off and restarting the engine clears or resets the message and sometimes "downhill assist not available" with the check engine light comes on. The check engine light has both stayed on or shut off on restart. I can then drive on the vehicle's own power, though the problem has repeated as soon as two minutes later, or not for days. I have not had to be towed and no accidents have occurred. The north carolina consumer's council filed a lawsuit against Ford in 2015 which was settled with Ford offering an extended warranty only on the etb (electronic throttle body) of certain model vehicles - all with the ecoboost engine, and multiple customer service actions (csa's) that have since expired. A few minutes on the Ford forums online and it is apparent that this is a widespread problem with the ecoboost engine, and Ford has offered several bandaids, but none until after the etb has failed and lives been endangered.

Etb. We lost power on are 2014 f 150 eco boost doing 50 plus miles an hour . . Out of no where it started to not accelerate and just shut down . Check engine popped on we managed to move to the side . It started up after two attempts then check engine light came on . It drove to nearest shop to have code checked they said OH its the etb. . That's recalled. So we explored and researching why it's not on recall. We were about a moment away from being slammed into the concrete medium from behind.

While driving on a highway, I went to pass another car. The transmission downshifted, and the rpm increased, until the engine/car began shuddering and slowed down, with the check engine light blinking. I was able to pull off the highway at the nearest exit, and after a period of time in idle, the engine regained its normal idle speed and operation. Checking codes pulled up a p0302, indicating a cylinder 2 misfire. No issues were found with the spark plugs, coil or cables for cylinder 2. This is a dangerous failure that appears to be affecting other owners of this truck, and could cause potential for injury or death, if the engine stalls at the wrong time.

Bought the truck in September 2015 with 60,000 miles on it. Now I have 101159 miles on it now. At about 98,000 miles my check engine light came on and I lost acceleration power when first taking off from a stop or if I get on the gas the truck hesitates and will either accelerate slow or won't accelerate at all. Almost got in an accident about a week ago when merging onto the freeway do to lost power. Contacted a mechanic and he came picked the truck up and ran testing on it and couple hours later called back and said my timing chains and phasers needed to be replaced. With that said it will cost me $3,000-4,000 to get this fixed and I simply do not have an extra couple thousand dollars to shell out for this fix . I have been doing a lot of searching and have been finding that a ton of people have had this problem and when they contact Ford, Ford is basically saying they are sol and have to pay out of pocket for the fix. I still owe $22,000 and thought about trading it in for something else but feel they will knock $4,000 off what the vehicle is worth. I have no idea what to do at this point. Please help!!!.

While driving the truck would jump gears after a few moments it would smooth out research the issue found there was a recall for trucks with t he same issue but was told my VIN # wasn't covered. The leas frame was the issue addressed after this 900. 00 repair the check engine light illuminated codes suggested turbo and tune was needed these situations was not happening prior to the previous mention repair.

I was driving down the highway and my 2014 Ford F-150 lost all engine power. My engine was still running but my gas peddle would not work. I was passing a semi truck when this happened. My dash board had the little wrench turned yellow. I turned my engine off and restarted and vehicle ran again like nothing every happed. I took the vehicle to Ford dealer and was told this is a know issue with said vehicle. My truck had 35,863 miles at the time of the incident. I was told a vehicle is still under factory warranty it would be fixed for free but parts are all on back order. I was advised I could still operate my truck until parts arrived. Today I was driving to work and merging onto the highway and again my truck lost all power with engine still running again. I was again able to shut vehicle down and restart but check engine light is now on. This time I was almost rear ended trying to exit the highway. *note: I did purchase this vehicle in canada while working in canada for the u. S. Dept of state so this will be a canadian VIN.

I have not had any problems with the truck until now. Lately I t's not been cranking and the check engine light on. Sometimes it cranks fine and sometime it doesn't. I took it to auto zone and they got a communications code. I've heard a lot of complaints on this issue. I've also been told that the vehicle will shut down on you while driving.

I was driving home from the store when the check engine light came on so I connected a code reader and pulled a p0016. Crankshaft/camshaft correlation sensor. I took the truck to a mechanic to find out what can cause this code. After checking out the engine they found that the primary timing chain is stretched causing the play in the engine. This play causes the crankshaft and camshaft timing to be off enough to cause this engine code. This truck has 55000 miles on it and in no way should be having timing chain issues this soon. Clearly Ford has a problem with this timing chain and I should not have to spend $3,500. 00 to have this fixed. This is a growing problem for folks who have these trucks and needs to offer a solution before someone gets hurt.

While trying to accelerate at higher speeds the vehicle shakes and appears to misfire. When this happens the vehicle struggles to accelerate and black smoke appears from the exhaust. This occurs mostly while trying to pass another vehicle. The check engine light appeared in the beginning and the code referenced a problem with one of the ignition coils which was subsequently changed but the problem still existed without any codes appearing.

Engine rattles upon cold startup and check engine light illuminates from p0016 error code relating to the timing chain being stretched. Ford has issued technical service bulletins regarding this issue meaning it is a known issue with this model of vehicle, yet they refuse to help with the repair yet I have purchased an extended warranty and just so happen to be 3000 miles over the mileage limit.

My v-6 ecoboost engine shudders upon accelerating, loses power, check engine light flashing on & off. This has occurred several times especially when the weather is damp. My truck only has a little over 75k.

Two different occasions I was driving 65 on the freeway, the engine compartment started violently shaking. The car lost acceleration and flashed the check engine light. Additionally I will be sitting at stop lights and you will get the same shaking from the engine compartment.

In motion at 70mph engine lost power vehicle began to shutter, while attempting to pass another vehicle on highway. Check engine light came on flashed for 30 seconds and went out. Dealership shows no codes or problems. Very dangerous situation on two lane highways. This is a 3. 5 v6 ecoboost Ford engine,.

Engine stalls at stop (after letting up on brake and auto start stop re-starts the engine) followed by "hill start assist not available" error flashes along with other brake related errors; vehicle engine won't turn over/start unless transmission is put back into park. Upon restarting all engine error/fault messages are cleared and things seem back to normal. Today was the second time this has happened. The first time was about 7 days ago. This is dangerous should it happen entering an intersection. I reported the problem to livermore Ford and they said that since it is intermittent without a check engine light on they cannot diagnose it.

I excelerated from a stop, suddenly my check engine light started to flash and I started to lose power and acceleration. My vehicle then began to shudder, I let off the accelerator pedal and moved to the side of the road. After about a minute the engine light turned itself off and the full power came back to the truck.

Driving 2011 Ford f150 ecoboost on the highway on a 8 hr trip to reno from las vegas. Went to pass a large truck and experienced shaking and studdering. Had to back off as oncoming traffic was approaching. Had to back off and almost caused an accident in rainy conditions because another vehicle was behind me attempting to pass along with me. This caused swerving and hard braking by many vehicles behind that vehicle. Check engine light flashed but did not remain on. I later replicated this by doing a hard acceleration on a clear stretch of road same studdering and flashing light. Drove conservatively the rest of the way. In reno, I had the truck scanned at an auto parts store. No codes showed. Have not had an issue since. This could have killed people. The internet says this is a known issue to Ford on the early ecoboost engines having to do with faulty intercooler design which gathers moisture then blows it into the cylinders when accelerating. I live in the desert and so have not had this problem until that trip. They (Ford) have never notified me that this is a potential problem. There is a TSB for it but that won't help the large bill for the fix or the safety hazard this condition creates. This needs attention. At the least, Ford should notify owners that the problem exists, that it is a safety hazard and fix at no cost.

I have a 2012 Ford f 150 with 66,800 miles on it and have changed one of the turbos . About may of 2017 I noticed a shutter and shaking of the engine, then lose of power, failure to accelerate on hills, the vehicle would down shift for no reason or you had to put the gas peddle to the floor to even move then it would kick in and cause the wheels to spin. I took the vehicle to my local Ford dealer to diagnose the check engine light. I was told that one of the turbos needed replaced at a cost of $1800, well I had it replaced at my own personnel garage and after driving the vehicle 5 miles it had all the same issues. I called the Ford hot line 3 times asking what they will do to fix my truck, I was told the warranty ran out at 60000 miles, I explained the vehicle just started doing this and I did not haul anything and only drove it about 12000 miles a year, this should not be happening. This is very dangerous trying to drive a vehicle that losses power then accelerate without warning. Ford told me there were some recalls on the 3. 5 l eco-boost engine but not on my truck. I have been a Ford man for over 40 years, I bought this truck brand new in 2012 and Ford will not do anything but charge me more money, I do not beat my truck I baby it, I take very good care of my vehicles, this is not my fault it is poor engine designee and Ford should fix this for me because as I said it is a safety hazard for me and anyone else on the road with this engine.

My waste gate has malfunctioned then replaced but has been back 3x in 30 days with my check engine light going on and sending the truck into limp mode while driving.

Check engine light came on & truck began to shake, engine went into limp mode. Had to pull over & slow to 50 mph before power came back. Took to local dealership. Diagnosis - fouled spark plug & bad ignition coil on cylinder 3. Coil replaced under warranty, spark plug replaced at my cost. Feb 2017 - under normal highway driving conditions. Again accelerating from 65 to approx 70 mph to pass another vehicle - engine stutter & power loss. Check engine light came on & truck began to shake, engine went into limp mode. Had to pull over & slow to 50 mph before power came back. Took to same local dealership. Diagnosis - cracked spark plug & bad ignition coil on cylinder 6. Coil replaced under warranty, spark plug replaced at my cost. March 2017 - again, under normal highway driving conditions. Again accelerating from 65 to approx. 70 mph to pass another vehicle - engine stutter & power loss. Check engine light came on & truck began to shake, engine went into limp mode. Had to slow to 45 mph before power came back. Took to same local dealership. Was told that I was now 200 miles outside of extended warranty. They would look at it but it would cost me. Took to autozone for code read - error code p0305 - cylinder 5 misfire. Multiple articles & online forum reports of this issue. Ford appears to be ignoring the issue.

Had the engine studded and drop a cylinder,this is an ecoboost motor,the check engine light started to flash while running rough. It happened as I was passing a tractor trailer on the highway,as I got around him another trailer was coming on behind me,this is when it dropped a cylinder,the trailer almost ran over me. This is a problem with this truck I found out once I did some research,Ford needs to do something about this before someone gets hurt or killed. I called the dealer the first time this happened,as far as the studded and he said bad gas keep driving it(59,500 mls). It happened again at 61,381,took to dealer and they did a TSB 14-0017 reprogram,this worked for about a week then it happened again,took it to the dealer 61850mls,they couldn't get it to do it,I picked it up and 20 miles later it did it again,I got it on video this time so theres no questions, seems as though they know about it but are blowing it off, let me get outside warranty then take a look at it. Let me tell you if it happens again, and my family gets hurt I will own Ford !!!! thanks for you time.

I have a 2012 Ford f150 ecoboost. Recently my family was out of town trying to make our way home when my truck shutters and lost power for a minute, followed by a blinking check engine light and then a solid check engine light. I took it into my local dealership and was told I need to replace spark plugs and coil packs, and it would cost over $500. I was amazed by this considering the truck only has 55,000 miles on it and it is recommended by Ford to replace spark plugs at 100,000 miles. To add to my amazement, my fairly expensive extended warranty didn't cover this, not even the coil pack replacement, which to me seems like a warranty issue considering they went bad so early into the engines life. I know this is a common problem on these trucks and have read extensively on the issue. How is this not something that is being addressed?.

On three occasions now while accelerating the vehicle suddenly looses all power. There have been audible warning sounds and check engine lights, also messages such as hill assist not available. On all occasions I was turning on to a street from a complete stop and accelerating. Turning off the engine seems to correct the problem. I have brought the vehicle to the dealer twice now.

I experienced a condition noted in Ford TSB: asi-32166 "some vehicles, with turbochared gasoline direct injection engines, will exhibit flashing malfunction indicator lamp, an intermittent stumble and/or misfire during hard acceleration during extreme humid or damp conditions. " while driving at a relatively steady 55-60 mph (on a rainy afternoon), I pushed the accelerator down in an effort to overtake a vehicle. Immediately, the "check engine" light began flashing, the truck began to shimmy, and I started to lose power. Unable to accelerate any more, I promptly exited the interstate, parked, shut off my vehicle in an effort to allow it to "reset". When I restarted the vehicle, the check engine light was off and the truck ran fine. I was (thankfully) unable to replicate the scenario on the remainder of my drive home.

In Jan 2017 an electronic throttle body failure caused vehicle to 'stall' and enter "limp home" mode while traveling at highway speed of 65mph. The vehicle sputtered, shuttered & stumbled into "limp home" mode with the wrench symbol and check engine lights displayed on the instrument panel. Dealer replaced the electronic throttle body in Jan 2017. The vehicle started exhibiting similar but less severe problems (sputter & stumble/hesitation) in July 2017, and is increasing in frequency and severity through now. Called the dealer service department to have it diagnosed and they will not acknowledge that this is a known or systemic problem, but it impacts drivability and safety, especially when towing a trailer.
