Engine has stalled and gone into limp mode at highway speeds 4 times in the past few months. Have to pull over and turn truck off and then on to resume normal function. Got error codes about hill assist not working when turning the truck back on. Took to the Ford dealership and they could not replicate the issue. After researching online found numerous other people having exact same issue and it the resolution was replacing the throttle body. Called dealership and they said that might be it but didn't want to diagnosis it as that until they could replicate. Again voiced concern to them that if the vehicle goes into limp mode in the middle of the freeway that could be extremely dangerous. They said there were no recalls for my vehicle but appears multiple other models and years have had this recall already done.

Vehicle experienced an engine stall after a 5 hour drive (with refueling stops) at highway speeds (I-85 southbound, between durham and atlanta), towing a 2,000lb empty trailer . Stall occurred after stop at the off-ramp. No engine light illuminated, but message stating "autostart/stop"feature error. Car would stall again immediately after restart. After several attempts, engine would not stall if throttle pressed to keep rpm's above idle. I was able to drive the remaining 15 miles (of total 350 mi trip). First leg of this trip was taken during the day, with a 2,000lb load totally approximately 4,000lb towed, with no issues. The above stall occurred after 2 hours of night driving.

First time towing our 5000lb trailer; drove without stopping for approximately 200 miles on highway. As pulling off highway on exit ramp the truck stalls as we come to a stop and it will not start again. Gives a message something about turning off the auto stop. Only way to get the truck to move is to give lots of gas and let off on brake slowly and hope truck moves. Next trip with trailer we turned off auto stop feature, this did not help as again the truck stalled as we came to a stop at a highway exit and would not come back on. Dealership discovered technical service bulletin18-2249 for 2. 7l f150 built on or before 27-Nov-2017 "while towing-intermittent engine stall when coming to a stop" service bulletin instructs mechanic to reprogram the pcm using the appropriate Ford scan tool at the latest software level. Dealership did this reprogramming on our truck, but since they can't test the truck for a fix, because it only stalls when towing for an extended period of time, we have to put our safety at risk again and drive the truck towing our trailer at least hundred miles to see if the stalling happens. This has been a very stressful situation since we were unsure when the truck might decide to stall again while towing our trailer, as perhaps when we are making a turn. And now the only way we will know if the stalling is fixed is to take the truck out on the highway pulling our trailer for a 100 mile ride-wish us luck! there is definitely a problem and it seems to us a very dangerous problem with the Ford 2018 f150 2. 7 eco-boost truck. Please investigate before some family on a camping trip gets killed towing their trailer. Thank you.
While towing with my 2. 7 ecoboost the engine stalls and dies after running on highway and pulling in to stop(usually at a gas station). It starts back up but dies when put in gear. I can only get it to run by revving the engine and quickly putting it in gear and giving it gas quickly. It seems to only do this when towing.
Engine lost power suddenly and stalled, I had a wrench lamp come up with the following faults: service advancetrac/ hill descent control fault. This happened on a bridge on a highway when I was driving with my family. I pressed the throttle but the engine went into "limp" mode, no response from the throttle whatsoever. Almost got hit by a semi truck from the rear. Took it to Ford, for 2 weeks they had no idea what's wrong with it. They performed a software update and said it's good to go. The same problem happened again 2 days later when I was close to work. Stopped by a local automotive shop since I didn't want to drive it back to the dealership. We read the code and it showed a "p2112 throttle actuator control system stuck closed". I got a new throttle body installed for 376$, and never had the problem again. Apparently it's a common problem with Ford f150s made in specific dates. Did some digging, Ford issued a techincal bulletin TSB 16-0139 with this known problem. This problem is very similar to recall 13n03 throttle body extended coverage 2009-2013 Ford & Mercury I took the old throttle body apart, there was a lot of oil buildup inside that interfered with the motor controlling the butterfly valve.
27 April 2020 - engine stalled without warning at speed multiple times, no engine warning lights on only "orange wrench" indicating 4x4 problem (per the manual). Vehicle would restart one first couple of occasions, would not restart subsequently, cranking timeout occurred. Waited about 15 minutes, vehicle restarted and left in park running while waiting for tow truck. Had vehicle towed to muzi Ford in needham MA for evaluation. Current date is 28 April 2020. This event could have caused a crash without warning. Weather - rain about 45f, morning around 8-9am.

The 2016 f150 with 40,000 miles on the engine had experienced a rough idle and engine stalls. The problem is in able to be predictable recreated causing the dealership to not solve the problem. When the truck was at 12000 miles, many engine parts were replaced to fix this issues however were unsuccessful. The vehicle is becoming difficult to drive or have repaired by the dealer. The vehicle typically rough isles or stalls when coming to a stop or sitting still. This poses a concerns when making a left on a standard green light with oncoming traffic.
2016 Ford f150 v8 engine. Driving down the freeway, my a/c compressor went out. It completely locked up causing the engine to stall and become disabled and could not be restarted. Shortly after, I lost power steering and brakes (as a result of the engine loss) which created a safety issue on a freeway at 10:30pm at night as I had to get the vehicle over lanes of traffic without power steering and ease of braking and bring the vehicle to a stop without power assisted brakes. Thankfully, we were able to get over, but I don't know that everyone would be so lucky. I don't think an a/c compressor breaking internally should disable the vehicle's engine unless something is fundamentally wrong with the construction of the compressor. I could see accidents occurring as a result of the engine becoming disabled.
Engine stalled while I was driving in a residential area. The auto/start was disabled at the time. I slowed down to let a car turn left into a driveway and went to accelerate and had zero power, engine was off. There was a message on the dashboard to shift into park and restart vehicle.

Engine stalls while driving. This has happened multiple times where multiple warning lights will flash on the dashboard such as the collision detection being disabled and the electronic stability control has been disabled. As soon as these warnings appear, the truck's acceleration is disabled and it will coast to stop, but he truck is still running. It remains in a low idle that is very rough, vibrating the entire truck like it's about to kill the engine, but barely keeping the idle high enough to keep it going. This has happened at different speeds and there is nothing you can do, but try to pull off the road. Once stopped, you can put the truck in park and turn the truck off and back on. Sometimes only one restart is required, but sometimes it will do the same thing again shortly after you begin driving again. This can be extremely dangerous as this can happen in an intersection, highway, or freeway. There is no warning when this is about to happen.
1. ) f150 supercab drifts erratically. Ford has aligned vehicle twice, but issue remains. Feels like truck is in a high-wind environment, but it is a calm day. Truck will veer off road unless extreme care is exercised. 2. ) transmission lugs on acceleration, particularly @ 1100rpm and 38mph. 3. ) hard "clunk/thump" sensation at low speeds, causing severe "whip-lash" action to occupants of vehicle. 4. )when taking slow left turn up a steep incline the truck lugs and transmission feel like it is slipping and unable to downshift, causing a significant loss of power and momentum. 5. ) engine stalls when leaving stop light. Dash lights come on saying" auto startstop shift to p, then restart engine. "this is in the middle of a busy intersection. I am attaching a picture of the dashboard error. Please notice I am still in "d" drive when this message came up.
On two separate occasions while the vehicle was in motion with transmission in drive with auto start stop mode disabled via the dashboard button, the engine stalled and shut off, a message appeared on dashboard "auto start stop shift to p, then restart engine". This occurred September 14, 2019 and October 17, 2019. Taken to dealership September 16, 2019. Dealership states this is an unknown issue despite many similar incidents reported online, examples were shown to the dealership. Dealership returned vehicle stating nothing wrong, no failure codes were stored in vehicle computer, no related service bulletins, unable to verify complaint. This is clearly a serious safety hazard. Image attached shows dashboard message from October 17, 2019.
The vct solenoid has been listed as a problem on a large number of Ford engines but Ford will not recall. The issue causes the engine to drop in idle and stall. My mechanic said he has changed hundreds in Ford engines. This is a safety issue when a vehicle stalls without waning.
While driving my 2017 frod f 150, 2. 7 ecoboost engine with my travel trailer in tow. My engine stopped running as I came to stop at the end of an exit ramp. I was able to manually start the engine but it repeatedly stalled if I did not push on the accelerator. This problem persisted for several more stop intersections as I made my way home. I had been traveling back from a trip towing my tt and had maintained a speed around 65 to 70 mph. I had travel probably close to 200 miles since my last stop. Had no prior issues during my trip and at no time during the issue was I ever warned of an issue. No codes were stored. The only light that come on on the dash was the battery light when the engine stalled.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the engine stalled while driving over 70 mph. The contact heard a beep sound and the low oil pressure indicator illuminated when the failure occurred. The failure was experienced several times. The contact was able to move the vehicle onto the road shoulder, restart the engine, and drive to david wilson's villa Ford (2550 north tustin street, orange, CA 92865, (714)-509-5615). The dealer performed a diagnostic test that located failure code: 27 (fuel pump). The dealer stated that the fuel pump fuse was located in an area that caused the fuse to overheat. The dealer relocated the fuel pump fuse to another area that would not cause the fuel pump fuse to overheat. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). The vehicle was taken to william mizell Ford (located at 330 us-25, waynesboro, GA 30830, (706) 554-2114) where the recall repair was performed. As soon as the contact left the dealer, the transmission started to jump when downshifting, and the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and test driven, but the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that he was not aware of the diagnostic testing, but was informed that he would need to drive the vehicle for a while for it to drive normally. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000.
Driving on major highway, 65-75 mph, lost engine power and had to pull over, trying not to cause a wreck, and stopped between busy highway and on-ramp to the highway. Found that the engine had stalled and wouldn't restart. Found #27 fuse melted. Changed fuse and was able to restart engine. I don't like repairing Ford's engineering mistakes, nor do I like being put in danger because of them. I use this truck for work and have a lifetime's accumulation of specialty tools kept in this truck for my job. If the truck goes up in flames, will Ford replace what is lost? the way this fuse, fuse box, and the connection has failed looks as there can potentially be a fire. In my case, there was an interruption in normal traffic flow, at high speed, that could a resulted in a wreck, injury, death, etc. I will fix this, probably on my own dime. What I don't understand is why is this not required to be fixed by Ford. It's an obvious safety hazard that even Ford has acknowledged and provided a TSB to address the problem.

Engine stalls at idle in park and at stop lights. Sometimes it's bad and sometimes not as much or can go days without doing it.
After a period of towing a 5200# trailer the 2. 7l ecoboost engine would stall when not throttling. Meaning, anytime slowing down or stopping the engine would cut off unexpectedly, forcing a manual restart. The truck did restart if the throttle was held in pushing gas and then throwing the truck into drive gear to move, however the throttle would have to continue to be pushing in order to maintain power. This occurred at 30+ mph in slowing down for accident/construction traffic as well as every time stopping for lights or gas. Issue occurred many times during trip, but only while towing. After disconnecting trailer and allowing vehicle to cool/rest for an hour issue did not return until after running with trailer being towed at highway speeds again.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that there was a progressing failure of which the vehicle had a engine warning light that kept randomly flashing, there was reduced engine power and then the vehicle had failed to crank to start. In addition, the vehicle had a loss of electrical and engine power which had stalled. The first time it was towed to the dealership bill colwell Ford inc. , 238 waterloo rd, hudson, IA 50643, (319) 988-4153, who had first indicated that the battery needed to be replaced, then a fuse box replacement of the fuses however the failure continued with the vehicle stalling and it was towed back to the dealer for further testing and diagnosis. The contact was uncertain if the manufacturer and the dealer had a solution yet, if the failure was related to TSB 15-0137 and was waiting to determine if there was a manufacturer remedy to provide a permanent fix. The vehicle was not repaired yet. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting on a response to determine the guidelines to repair the vehicle. The approximate mileage 75,000. Dyd.

Ford F-150 3. 5 v6 ecoboost stalls out at excessive speeds. While trying to overtake another vehicle the truck misfires because of the intercooler cools the air to cold to evaporate the condensation and hits cylinder four which cases it to misfire which then cause the engine to stall. Ford knows about these problems but does not notify the customer about the potential of it happening to people purchasing the vehicle. This is a major safety issues!.
Engine stalls out periodically. Very dangerous in heavy traffic. This happens every time while in motion not sitting still. This is the eco boast 6 cylinder engine. Has been numerous reports with others but Ford still won't issue a recall on these engines. It has 89350 miles on it. I'm going to change the plugs & boots this weekend but I'm sure that will not solve my problem. Ford is being stubborn on recalls. Hopefully no one gets hurt in these vehicles before they issue the recall. Thanks NHTSA.
Fuse #27 for the fuel pump is burning up on one side. Engine stalls intermittently. Will not restart for a while after.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving 30 mph, the engine stalled and the maintenance warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart and resume normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (coconut point Ford 22400 s. Tamiami trail, FL 33928), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-150. While driving 45 mph, the front of the vehicle shook violently, the engine nearly stalled and lost power repeatedly, and the check engine indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle also braked independently. The vehicle was taken to an uncertified mechanic who diagnosed that the engine was having multiple misfires, and did not know how to repair the vehicle. The contact also called a dealer who was extremely rude and did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that they would not assist because the claims deadline had been missed. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.

Engine stalls for no reason.
Engine stalls and/or dies while driving. This has happened to me twice on a new 2016 F-150. During normal driving, the truck mechanically shuts down causing a major safety hazard to me and other drivers on the road. This is not uncommon if you search online! the Ford repair shop cannot identify the issue, they say.
Under aceleration in heavy traffic in damp weather conditions, truck engine misfired and totally stalled-out causing major traffic jam. Has happened twice. Engine acted as if there was water in the fuel system. . . . Has misfired several times in damp or wet highway conditions.
On Friday 10/28 while driving down the interstate at about 55 miles/hour at approximately 6:30pm with vehicles ahead of and behind my truck, the vehicle began to give a number of check engine alerts, at which time the engine rpms dropped to very low levels and began to stall and the accelerator no longer responded. Had truck towed to the nearest dealership within the hour. I was very lucky in this situation, for had I been in a construction area or on a bridge, the situation could have been much worse. This same situation occurred on the evening of 10/2 while driving 40mph down a state road near my home and according to the dealer who attended to the issue, the brake module had failed which caused the symptoms to arise. In that instance, the accelerate failed to respond and the engine began to stall, which it did when I pulled to the side of the road. They replaced the module a few days later. In addition, the driver side door vibrates and does not latch properly. Two dealers have failed to resolve this issue to date and I believe it is a safety concern that has largely been dismissed by the service technicians and dealerships involved. Despite numerous documented attempts to resolve this issue with Ford customer service, they have ignored this concern, have failed to respond to me in a timely manner, and declined a buyback request. I am submitting lemon law documentation for the vehicle during the week of October 31. I have spent hundreds of dollars on rental vehicles during attempted repairs to the doors and the brake module since Ford claims they will not cover the cost of rental vehicles during warranty repairs. Repair documentation attached pertains to repairs for 10/2 occurrence since the dealership has not yet had an opportunity to inspect my vehicle since it was dropped off yesterday evening. I will gladly provide info once received.
The issues started around mid July 2016 with about 11-12k miles. I was turning onto a side road where doing maybe 10 mph and the engine stalled, it restarted while in motion and I continued. The hill start assist and advance trac warning lights came on. Later that week it happened repeatedly. The dealership here in town (not where I bought it) looked at it for a few days, they thought it was because of, "all the after market stuff (radio etc) I had (professionally) installed". They believed it was the power converter so they replaced the converter when it came in (the 110v converter) I got my stereo stuff reconnected and kept driving it. Then the engine would not stall, but the warning lights would flash advance trac and hill assist. After a few days, it began to stall again, almost getting me hit pulling onto a road with 50mph traffic. The truck died, and wouldn't "restart" itself. So here I am parked on a two multilane 50mph roadway trying to start my truck without getting killed. It also happened again while pulling off this same road into a side street with a big ass RV coming at me, I was able to coast into the side street and then restart the truck. I brought the truck back in and they said that it might be the throttle body. So, I got my truck back today with the throttle body replaced. I go to drive away and my head unit/ display will not illuminate properly. I thought it was dimmed, but it wasn't. So I drive in a circle to bring it back and it illuminates like it should. So I leave and I drive back down the main 50 mph road and while accelerating away from a stop light there, the advance trac and hill assist lights flash on again. I take it right back and it is now there getting looked at again.
2016 Ford F-150 2. 7l ecoboost model with only 3,928 miles. This is the third time engine has cut off on me while driving/accelerating! was taking a left turn from side road onto main road. While accelerating in the turn, engine started stuttering a few times (rpms would dip) and then it stalled out. Luckily I was able to complete my left hand turn without getting hitting by oncoming traffic and was able to pull over immediately. This time around the engine would not restart. Had to call Ford's roadside assistance to get towed to nearest dealership. The last two instances the dealer could not pull a code or diagnose what was wrong so nothing was done. This time the dealership has a dead truck on arrival so they can't tell me that there is nothing wrong with it (service and diagnostics has yet to be completed at the time of this writing). I have been in touch with Ford regional rep regarding my cases and I am told they cannot do anything until the dealer can diagnose what the root cause is. Obviously something is wrong. There are dozens of other complaints of engine stalling while driving.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the engine stalled while attempting to stop the vehicle. The failure occurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing, but a failure code could not be produced . The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.
While driving (on highway or elsewhere), v8 engine will stall and stop suddenly without any warning for no apparent reason. Happen to me twice on 2 days. Won't create any fault in the obd. First time, happen to me on the highway, I was very lucky not to have been hit by other vehicles. Took the car to Ford farway in greenville, SC, they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. The car will always start back after 45 min to an hour. Then will shut down for no reason again. This is a threatening with potential death situation if it happen in heavy traffic. . . So please, ask Ford to investigate all v8 to find quickly the reason why this is happening.
