2021 Ford f150. Consumer writes in regard to dripping dark liquid coming from engine. The consumer stated the dealer advised the vehicle was operating as designed.
47000 miles on truck. Both catalyst converters have failed within 1000 miles due to the way they are constructed. Internals of converters have two elements in which rear element appears to just be cemented in and will come loose internally. When this happens it can rotate inside housing and not let exhaust gases exhaust correctly causing loss of power.

During some starts engine will produce a smell. Looking underneath vehicle, I've noticed 2 leaks coming from the exhaust system.
Brakes went out while driving. Brake fluid keeps disappearing. Brake fluid has leaked into the intake and caused massive amounts of smoke from the exhaust, the master cylinder failed at only 42k miles.
Truck has 46665 miles. When driving first 10 minutes (city driving) vehicle shudders, shows wrench indicator and goes into limp home mode (no accelerator). Have to pull over, turn off ignition and restart engine. Problem code shows p2112 (throttle actuator control system. . . Stuck closed). This may happen 3 times in first 15 minutes of driving, but then goes away when car warms up. I have also noticed abnormal exhaust smoke and bad gas mileage. Having truck go into limp home mode in middle of traffic is very dangerous.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. While driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power and misfired, and smoke could be seen coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who initially diagnosed a fuel leak from the exhaust. Upon further investigation, the mechanic stated that injector number 7 was not closing correctly and causing the fuel to enter the cylinder. As a result, the motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The dealer stated that the VIN was excluded from a recall on the injectors. The recall details were not provided. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
Takata recall the engine blew up after 3,400. Sucked all the oil in the exhaust while it was idling in dealership parking lot. Called me up told my engine blew up on them. There is 6 month run of bad engine and Ford knowly sold me a truck made during those dates.
The threads in my 07 Ford f 150 for my spark plug in one of my cylinder's went bad. And my plug leaked high pressure compressed heated exhaust. Causing my ignition coil to partially melt. Its right below the fuel rail sensor too. Its the biggest pain in the butt to fix. Used a helicoil. Didn't last too long. Trying a more permanent fix next. I was on the highway going 70 when the plug began a very noticeably loud rhythmic leak with the ignition of that cylinder. Also, when I saw the problem when I looked at the spark plug. It had already had an existing helicoil put in. And you could tell this happend way before 200k miles. Because the old spark plug was worn almost all the way down. I still have the old spark plug.
TSB 15-0131 timing chain stretches and makes a loud rattle upon starting and eventually leads to loss of power and engine damage. The known cause of this is all the phasers, the intake and exhaust phasers. This is my main concern. Everyone I know who owns this vehicle has this problem. The other complaint is that I get 14 mpg.

Upon starting my car that morning it backfired and white smoke exited from the exhaust which it has never done before. Once idling I put the truck in reverse with my foot on the brake and my truck rolled down the driveway. I had to depress my brakes with significant force to get it to stop. Upon checking the engine later there is no vacuum detected at the power brake assist. There is a recall on other Ford trucks of this year and model with the same issues that mine was exhibiting. Upon calling Ford they said that my VIN # was not associated with this recall. Go figure!.
As we started the truck, we heard a loud pop and then the engine was running rough. I could smell gas burning not in a good way, so we turned off the engine and popped the hood. There was gasoline running under the truck, and gasoline coming from the exhaust. A passerby informed us that the F-150 with triton engine is notorious for blowing spark plugs and proceeded to point out which spark plug had blown. I researched this issue when I arrived home after our truck was towed to a mechanic, and discovered that just about every F-150 owner goes through this. Why is this not a defect that Ford is being required to fix? do people have to die before a defective part is taken care of?.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford f-350. The contact stated was driving 35 mph and noticed that the engine rpms increased as smoke billowed from the exhaust. After the contact allowed the vehicle to cool down, it was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the seals were leaking to the bearings and the turbo of the emissions system had failed. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

Multiple acceleration issues, especially when attempting to pass another vehicle and/or when accelerating abruptly. I have also noticed condensation from the exhaust when first starting the vehicle in the morning on multiple occasions.
Vehicle shifts hard when not under power. When under power vehicle backfires, mis fires, loses acceleration completely. Have brought vehicle to deal 4 times and have been told there is nothing they can do. There is black sut on the exhaust. I do not feel safe driving in the vehicle if it cannot accelerate or will just completely shut off.

Upon receiving vehicle from dealership in July 2012, ecoboost hesitates, then it takes off and goes faster than you want the vehicle to. This happened many times to pass vehicles or speed up to enter highway from on ramp. After starting and letting sit for more than 10 min. , putting in drive or reverse, vehicle runs at high rpm & takes off on its own. Upon stopping at light/ stop sign, vehicle will lunge forward. Upon trying out ecoboost on vehicle one night, the engine would not disengage from ecoboost, pressed brakes,& wouldn't stop, ended up taking down a partial fence and ending up in a ditch. Truck wouldn't get out of ditch, every time you pressed on gas to try to get out, even in 4x4, ecoboost kicks in & spins wheels. Truck towed and damage fixed at dealership bought from. They repaired truck per my auto insurance coverage, but when asked to check brakes, ecoboost, they couldn't find any errors per computer and engine is performing correctly. But, engine is not as we have gone back with truck many times to complain about these issues and get the same answers. A computer is only as good as what humans put into it. There is an aftermarket computer chip available at expense of truck owner that will correct the hesitation when going into ecoboost, but nothing to fix the problem of the truck disengaging immediately from ecoboost when brakes are pressed. Ford should have put computer chip in engine before selling the vehicle and making sure the ecoboost disengages immediately upon braking. Also, exhaust fumes enter the cab when you put heat, defrost, a/c on. The recirculate button has to be on all the time to keep vehicle exhaust out of the cab interior. But, the dealership cannot find an answer for this problem either. Ford dealership or Ford doesn't seem to be concerned w/ these problem. Read on-line that many f150 ecoboost trucks built from 2/2012 to 5/2012 have problems.
I was driving home and all of a sudden there was an explosion under the hood and it sounded like part of the exhaust system gave way. I pulled over and found out that a spark plug had blown out of the head. The only one to ever touch the engine was Ford and that they had replaced a spark plug several years ago. I got on line and found out there are literally thousands of these spark plug ejections. I was wondering if there was a recall on the problem ? the fact that the super-heated air and mixture fuel spraying all over the underneath of the hood is a extreme danger, it would seem that would be a safety recall.
Camshaft phasers failed so engine would not idle, causing a very dangerous situation at stop signs having to constantly rev engine to keep running. Repair cost $3,897. 73 through internet investigation have found my particular year and engine (5. 4l triton) has a history of this failure. Told that a non-motorcraft oil filter can release debris that clogs a lubrivation port in the cam phasers which in turn destroys them. No info. Of this sort was ever relayed to me on purchase of vehicle. I have no reason to believe I have ever used anything but a motorcraft oil filter. A 2005 vehicle w/ a $3900. 00 mechanical repair is unacceptable. Have contacted Ford until I have exhausted my attempts. They finally told me this was the end of our communications.
My 2000 Ford F-150 with 5. 4 trident engine blew a spark plug out of
the cylinder head. I had no problems before this. I understand this
happens to hundreds of 5. 4 engines. There are no recalls for this
defect. Can anything be done about this motor?I cannot afford the
$3000. 00 repair bill. Ford knows about this but will not do anything
about it.
