A very weird chirping noise; really bad when I start truck then it calms down but I can hear it while driving. I took it to my auto mechanic shop & they said both exhaust manifolds are warped & need replacing. I bought this truck January of 2020 & I’ve spent a small fortune on it. I owned a Chevrolet silverado for 14 years & never had issues like this truck has had. After researching info it appears this is an ongoing issue with these trucks. Ford should be responsible!!.

The truck exhibited the abrupt downshifting upon driving out of the parking lot, this caused great stress and possible accidents to me and family. The transmission continued to get worse and we were in fear of our lives to drive the vehicle on the highway. Once we got the vehicle home it literally would not shift into gear and has been disabled since the first week in xxx. We are plumbing and heat contractors and have lost a great deal of business due to not having a truck/this truck to use for work. We had it towed to greico Ford in [xxx] on advice from keith, the service mgr. We know the recall is due in xxx. This dealership is now trying to tell us that all the hoses are damaged and wants to charge us $2,000 to repair the hoses. We obviously don't want to do this since we believe the violent jarring and downshifting of the transmission caused by this mfg defect probably caused this and a lot more other problems. Mfg recall #26s28, NHTSA recall# 26v237. I need to know when this recall remedy will be submitted and what are my rights to get this fixed? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Vehicle makes a grinding noise on gear change on 6 speed automatic transmission due to abrupt speed changes. Seems like changes in gears suddenly. It almost caused me to crash my truck .

Excessive oil consumption. I have to check and refill every single week since I drive over 100 miles/day, it is ridiculous how much oil burns. Transmission at high speed acts very erratic, when downshifting is like it doesn't know what do do and when it finally decides to down shift, it kicks so hard that feels like it's going to brake in pieces, even at low speed the shifting is very hard, not smooth at all. Radio carplay is useless, every time I try carplay, it works but I am not able to use the volume, so I have the feature but can't use it.

The variable camshaft timing (vct) phasers on my 2018 Ford F-150 3. 5l ecoboost have failed, resulting in violent, un-commanded camshaft movement within the engine. The vehicle is currently in my possession, and the failed components are available for inspection upon request. This failure puts my safety and the safety of surrounding motorists at extreme risk. The internal locking pins inside the cam phasers have degraded, which introduces excessive slack and erratic force against the engine's timing chain. If the timing chain jumps a gear or breaks due to this violent movement,a known consequence of ignored phaser rattle. The engine will suffer catastrophic internal damage. This will result in an immediate, sudden loss of motive power at highway speeds, leaving the vehicle completely stalled and un-drivable in moving traffic without warning. The problem is actively reproducible on every cold engine start, characterized by a harsh, metallic rattling noise lasting several seconds until oil pressure builds. Approximately two weeks ago, I contacted Ford corporate customer relations to escalate this issue. During that call, Ford informed me that these exact cam phasers were already replaced in 2021 at liberty Ford of fayetteville, nc. The fact that a critical engine timing component has failed twice on the same vehicle indicates a deeply flawed, inherently dangerous design. Ford's prior attempts to remedy this through customer satisfaction programs 21b10 and 21n03 clearly did not provide a permanent or safe resolution. Aside from Ford corporate reviewing the VIN service history, the vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or an independent investigator. The primary and immediate symptom warning of this mechanical failure is the severe metallic clicking and rattling noise upon engine ignition. I am urging the NHTSA to investigate this recurring defect, as it poses a severe and unpredictable sudden-stall hazard for thousands of drivers.

I experienced a sudden coolant leak on my 2017 Ford f?150 equipped with the 3. 5l ecoboost engine. The Ford dealership diagnosed the issue as leaking turbocharger coolant lines. The coolant was leaking in the turbo area and dripping onto extremely hot exhaust components. This creates a risk of rapid coolant loss, overheating, loss of power while driving, and potential engine compartment fire. The Ford service advisor told me directly that he has “seen this many times,” which indicates this is a recurring failure on ecoboost engines and not normal wear. This suggests the coolant line design or fittings may be defective and failing prematurely. The repair estimate was extremely high because the dealer included replacement of both exhaust manifolds. This failure occurred without warning. If the coolant loss had happened at highway speed, it could have caused sudden engine overheating or power loss. I am requesting NHTSA investigate turbo coolant line failures on Ford ecoboost engines due to the safety risk of coolant leaking onto hot turbo and exhaust components.
My vehicle is currently subject to an open Ford transmission safety recall for which no repair remedy is available at this time. The vehicle is experiencing a recurring and dangerous failure while driving. Approximately twice per day, during my normal commute, all vehicle electronics suddenly shut off while the vehicle is in motion. At the same time, the wheels appear to lock up, causing a sudden loss of vehicle control and creating a significant crash risk. When the failure occurs, I am forced to immediately shift the transmission into neutral while the vehicle is still moving. After approximately 5 to 10 seconds, I can shift back into drive and continue operating the vehicle. However, vehicle electronics often remain inoperative for the remainder of the trip. This condition is occurring repeatedly and has become more frequent. The issue currently occurs approximately once during my drive to work and once during my drive home. My commute is approximately 20 minutes each way. The vehicle has not yet been involved in a crash, but I believe a crash is likely if this condition continues. The sudden loss of power, loss of electronics, and wheel lockup while driving creates an immediate safety hazard to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. I am submitting this complaint because the vehicle is subject to an active safety recall, the condition appears related to the recall, and no repair remedy is currently available. I believe the vehicle is unsafe to operate.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly decelerated, the tires were dragging, and the engine temperature was high. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact's father performed a diagnostic scan on the vehicle and retrieved a diagnostic trouble code indicating a pcm and engine cooling system failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the coolant hose was replaced, and coolant was added to the vehicle; however, the failure recurred while leaving the dealer 5 minutes later, and the vehicle failed to exceed 10 mph. The vehicle was driven back to the dealer, and it was determined that the coolant temperature sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure might be related to NHTSA campaign number: 26v237000 (power train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle went into limp mode and the vehicle unintendedly decelerated. The orange wrench symbol was displayed. The contact pulled over for five minutes, and the computer was reset. After the vehicle was restarted, the vehicle operated normally. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the vehicle was not under recall or warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired; however, the contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and the failure was associated with the wheel speed sensor. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 141,000.

The contact owns a Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving, there was an audible noise was heard and observed smoke coming from beneath the hood on the driver's side near the alternator. The contact pulled over and discovered flames coming from the engine compartment. The fire department responded and extinguished the fire. No injuries were sustained and no additional property damages were reported. The vehicle was not destroyed and was later towed to an independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was ot diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was contacted but did not diagnosed or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 151,798.
While driving about 60 mph on the highway, all warning lights on the dash suddenly came on and the truck immediately lost power/shut down. The wheels sputtered or somethting like that, not sure how to describe it. I was able to safely get off the road and restart the truck. After restarting, it drove normally again with no obvious issues. I recently received a recall notice describing very similar symptoms related to the transmission/lead frame issue, but the notice stated no remedy was yet available. This created a serious safety concern because the failure happened unexpectedly at highway speed. Here is the recall info: issue date 2026-04-14 campaign 26s28/26v237.
The recall is 10 months old and no remedy offered. Every time I get behind tge wheel I'm risking an injury or death of myself or someone else. I can't sell my vehicle because it would put the next owner at risk. Do I have to wait until there's an injury or death to have something done about this?.

Vehicle is experiencing severe, dangerous transmission malfunctions matching Ford safety recall 26s28 / NHTSA 26v237. Multiple times while cruising at highway speeds, the vehicle has abruptly downshifted into 2nd or 3rd gear without warning, causing violent engine revving, sudden loss of forward momentum, and severe steering wheel shaking. These incidents occurred in rainy, low-visibility environments. The vehicle is primarily driven by my wife with our [xxx] granddaughter inside. A sudden drop to 2nd gear at highway speeds in low-traction conditions creates an immediate, catastrophic risk of a high-speed rear-end collision or loss of control. On wed [xxx], we took the truck to hubler Ford (shelbyville, in). The service department officially diagnosed the vehicle and acknowledged the malfunctions are caused by recall 26s28. However, they refused to repair it because they are "waiting on a software code" from Ford corporate, estimating a delay until mid-July 2026. They refused to provide a safe loaner, forcing us to drive an actively malfunctioning vehicle. On 6/18/26, I called Ford national customer service to escalate this safety issue and request an interim rental. The Ford rep contacted hubler Ford but failed to authorize a rental. Instead, Ford corporate placed me back in a customer service loop, telling me to discuss symptoms with the dealer again, even though the dealer already officially diagnosed the defect. This loop has caused numerous 20+ min holds with no one addressing the issue. Both Ford and hubler Ford are refusing to provide intermediate safe transportation for an officially diagnosed, severely malfunctioning safety-recall vehicle, leaving a toddler exposed to a severe highway crash hazard. I was driving and slowing down for a stop sign and the engine shut off by itself while still moving at appx 10-15mph. The display had several warning lights appear, and the message "auto start stop, shift to p, then restart engine". I have the auto start stop disabled on my vehicle, so there was no reason for my engine to shut off while decelerating. I searched online for potential causes and discovered that there are numerous incidents of this happening (engine shutting off while moving) to drivers that have deactivated the auto start stop on their vehicles. See link: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

While driving, transmission will randomly shift gears from a higher gear all the way down to first gear regardless of travel speed. When traveling at highway speeds, this results in a loss of traction on the rear wheels, causing fishtailing and a momentary loss of control. This problem is getting worse, and is the result of a known defect in the transmission speed sensor that has been acknowledged by Ford in previous recalls. The previous recall repair attempt by Ford involved a dealer reset of the computer rather than replacing the defective sensor, which did not fix the problem. The frequency of this sudden downshift is approximately 2-4 times per ten miles driven.

This is a continuation/escalation of NHTSA complaint 11689917. My 2021 Ford F-150 has experienced repeated fuel-system/electrical fuel-pump failures. The vehicle previously stalled and later cranked but would not start, returning code p0627 “fuel pump a control circuit / open. ” the in-tank fuel pump was replaced at owner expense for approximately $1,400 at an independent service center in September of 2025, but the repair did not permanently resolve the issue. The vehicle has now again lost fuel pressure/propulsion while traveling approximately 50 mph on a two-lane highway in a similar manner to prior failures. I was able to get the vehicle off the roadway, and it required towing back to my residence. This is approximately the fourth or fifth fuel-related failure, including stalls at low speed and non-start conditions related to fuel in parking lots. The symptoms appear consistent with Ford/NHTSA recall 25v455 / Ford recall 25s75, but my VIN was not included in the affected group. I am concerned that the recall population may be too narrow or that the remedy does not address the full defect pattern.

In the second year of ownership I noticed that occasionally I would get no throttle response from the gas pedal when trying to accelerate. After several occurrences I began to pay close attention as to when this was occurring. I found that this occurs mostly, not exclusively, when I am slowing the vehicle to a near stop, not a full stop and then accelerating to continue, like slowing to round a corner on a green light and getting into traffic. For example, I was exiting a home depot parking lot, the driveway exits to the roadway. As I approached the driveway to enter the roadway I slowed, preparing to stop. Seeing no traffic on the roadway I then pushed the accelerator to enter the roadway. The pedal was dead, I got absolutely no acceleration. I pushed the pedal down slowly, nothing. I pushed the pedal to the floor, nothing. The truck rolled out onto the road, I coasted to the side of the road. Had there been traffic I'd have been hit. This has happened 20 times in two years and 80k miles. The most recent event was this week with my wife present, very scary, dead pedal, not throttle response. If you research "dead pedal" on google, you will get the following response: the "dead pedal" in the Ford F-150 powerboost—a dangerous lag or total loss of throttle response—is a widely reported issue, particularly when accelerating from low speeds, turning, or right after starting. [1, 2, 3] the cause can range from a software glitch to transmission issues or failing sensors. Ford said there was a TSB, however the work performed had no effect on the dead pedal on my truck. Invoice attached from March 2026, it just occurred again this week. I am going to trade the vehicle in but I doubt that Ford will disclose this flaw to the next buyer, it will be their's to discover, hopefully not by "accident". I am going to trade this vehicle in and I'm sure the new buyer will have no idea of this potentially deadly flaw.
Hard downshift caused my truck to slow suddenly and became very hesitant where the vehicle behind me had to slam on their brakes. I then pulled over when it was safe, turned the truck off and then attempted to turn back on with no success due to the shift indicator no longer lighting up. This matches up with the current recall for this particular vehicle.
Cold start rattle lasting a second or more. Ford dealer diagnosed it as being bad cam phaser (TSB 23-2143). This is a very common issue with 3. 5l engines from 2017-2020 - well documented on forums and youtube (even by Ford technicians). I contacted Ford to see if they would assist in covering cost (my vehicle was a previous fleet vehicle and sold certified used in Dec 2020 with warranty running out in Dec 2025). Ford had several csp's related to these engine and model years (21b10 and 21n03). Ford says my vehicle is not affected by these two csps and that is why coverage is denied. Dealer did determine my vehicle qualified under both csps based on information from the csp's (make, model, build plant). My vehicle is affected by known bad parts, Ford redesigned vct. Per Ford technicians, the new vct design is the only long term fix (pcm reflash and replacing with original vct parts are not). How can a TSB (23-2143) cover my vehicle when the previous csp did not - for the same issue. Ford is refusing to assist customers cover cost to replace of known poorly designed parts (why would they redesign if they didn't know)? Ford does not include my vehicle in the csps though it matches criteria - Ford possibly drastically understated the number of vehicles affected by these csp's. Dealer says mine is affected by this but frod doesn't include my vehicle. This should be a full recall (not time limited under csps) as it can cause the vehicle to not start when auto stop/start is enabled (middle of 5 lane highway in atlanta metro area rush hour). Failure of cam phasers can force vehicle into limp mode reducing ability to operate vehicle . Ford is well aware the parts are faulty and an integral part of the engine, why would they redesign if they were not faulty?.
Our truck was smoking from the exhaust and we took it to the local Ford service department. They determined the oil pan is leaking, there is a coolant leak from the engine, requiring a new engine, and also the need for turbos. These are the exact issues that are included in this service bulletin making dealerships aware. If this is such a widespread problem with these trucks, why is there not a recall to make proper repairs?.

Ford has acknowledged the defect (recall 26s28). · my truck experienced the dangerous downshift and wheel lockup. · Ford has no fix available until June 30th, leaving me without a safe vehicle. · Ford is refusing to provide a loaner or rental. The wheel locked on me and causing the vehicle to be uncontrollable, in wet condition. Causes a near fatal accident. I do have a dash camera recording to prove my case.
I was getting on the highway in 7th gear and the truck shifted to 1st gear. The rear end locked up and my vehicle skidded out of control. Luckily there was no one around and I did not contact another vehicle or a road barrier.
My 2020 Ford F-150 5. 0l coyote v8 had its engine replaced under factory warranty on 4/30/25 by an authorized Ford dealer. The replacement engine was installed with my original 50,000 mile fuel injectors reinstalled by Ford's technician — I was not informed new injectors were not included. The vehicle is now diagnosed with a failed direct fuel injector causing a cylinder 3 misfire at approximately 10,000-12,000 miles on the replacement engine. Additional injectors show signs of imminent failure. The shop also documented the replacement engine running 2 quarts low on oil at only 10,000-12,000 miles of service. This level of oil consumption on a recently replaced engine is abnormal and unexplained. The safety concern is twofold. First, a vehicle running chronically low on oil due to abnormal consumption on a replacement engine risks catastrophic engine failure without adequate warning to the driver. Second, misfiring cylinders affect vehicle driveability and create unpredictable power delivery that constitutes a safety risk particularly at highway speeds. Symptoms including rough running and the check engine light first appeared in November 2025. The vehicle has been at an authorized Ford dealer for diagnosis since may 2026. Ford customer relations has declined goodwill assistance despite the failure occurring on components reinstalled by Ford's own technician during a warranty repair, symptoms originating within the warranty window, and the vehicle being only 8 days outside the 12-month parts warranty expiration. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether Ford's practice of reusing high-mileage fuel injectors during engine replacements under warranty constitutes an unsafe practice, and whether abnormal oil consumption on replacement engines represents a systemic defect.
The truck rapidly accelerated while I was slowly rolling into a parking spot with my foot on the brake. The harder I pushed the brake the more it seemed to accelerate. I luckily avoided hitting anything. I forced the gear shifter out of drive into park. No warning lights or messages. I contacted 3 Ford dealerships and all said they haven’t heard of this nor do they think they could identify this problem if I brought it in.
I was driving on the highway at about 60-70 mph and my truck shifted into first gear with my tires basically locking up and slid along the highway. I brought my truck into a Ford dealership and they told me they couldn’t get it to replicate the incident so they turned me away. I personally replaced my battery terminals and it hasn’t done it again. Now I will be driving and randomly my truck will rev bomb and my gauge cluster will shut off and it shows up with an orange wrench symbol but when I turn the car off it resets. The research I’ve done it can come from a speed sensor or the lead frame. I know 2014 Fords have a recall on transmissions but my truck does not have a documented one but there is something funky going on with it.
I've sent earlier not sure if it went through transmission dropingvout of gear at any time putting my. Life in danger, and family, hope I don't end up needing a lawyer if a major fatality happens.

The transmission needs to be rebuilt/repaired with 162k miles. A member of my family also has a 2017 Ford f150 with the 10r80 transmission and theirs just went out at 92k miles. Also, the cam phaser issue on the 3. 5 eco boost happened to this vehicle as well. Now I need a new transmission and theirs cam phasers, timing chain, etc replaced on the motor on an 8 year old truck. These are known issues to Ford as they have changed the parts that failed with a newer, better version.
My 2014 Ford f150 truck went into “limp mode” last week. A wrench showed up on my dashboard, my speedometer didn’t function, and it sounded like the transmission was “winding up” if I tried to accelerate. After hitting “ok” to remove the wrench and restarting the truck a couple of times, my check engine light illuminated. I was driving at about 40 mph when this occurred and it was a scary moment. Luckily I was able to keep my truck under control and drove very slowly back home considering I was less than 4 miles from my home. The truck went into a Ford dealership in 2024 for the “transmission recall” in which the only thing I noticed different was that I couldn’t see the digital shifting of the transmission on the screen anymore and they “killed” my battery. I still had issues every so often with power loss or the transmission shifting down abruptly, but it wouldn’t throw a code. Last week it threw a code. P0720 to be exact, the reason for the transmission recall in the first place. There was no fix done with the recall and it made it so that I had to watch my rpm’s to track my transmission shifting. This is extremely concerning especially since I was having the issues prior to a computer reprogram and it wasn’t addressed. I have also seen that there’s yet another Ford transmission recall that could affect my truck considering it was assembled in June 2014 and fits the transmission 6r80 that needs fixed. Could someone please help? thank you.

The contact stated that the transmission failed to shift out of first gear. After turning off the vehicle, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The check engine warning light was illuminated, and the wrench symbol was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and the failure was associated with the sensor. The transmission sensor was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The failure persisted over time. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case and confirmed that the vehicle was previously repaired in 2017 under NHTSA campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). The manufacturer declined to provide any additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 159,599.

On 4/22/2026 while flat towing this vehicle behind my motorhome, it burst into flames. The trip began in [xxx] . Driving south on xxx, I stopped about 120 miles later at a rest stop near xxx. I did a complete walk around inspection. There were no issues, everything looked fine. We continued on and about 20 miles later another vehicle driver was telling me frantically to pull over. I looked at my rear camera and saw the Ford was smoking. This was not due to an improper neutral tow setting. The truck would have burned in the first 20 miles. I have towed this vehicle many times. I know the importance of doing it properly. , thankfully there was a good place to pull over. I tried to extinguish the fire with my extinguisher but it was too hot. I was unable to disconnect from the motorhome. Both are a total loss. I think of all the places this could have happened and how trapped we could have been. By the grace of god, nobody was injured. Yes there is a police report and an insurance claim. There were no warning signs. My braking system runs on its own battery so there was no draw on the Ford battery. Ford did an update on the computer the night prior. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
