Power steering rack failure, while driving though a puddle less than 6 inches deep. Cost over $1900 to replace. My wife's 2014 Volkswagen passat is able to drive though deeper water. . On 8/13 I was unable to move over on a road that had some puddles due to oncoming traffic. After driving though the small puddle my power steering went out. Took to the mechanic and he said its a known issue due to how Ford did not seal their wiring well under the trucks and it hangs lower allowing the water to seep into the cables and cause the powering steering rack to fail. . This is unacceptable its a truck a puddle should not cause a truck to loose power steering.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the oil pan was leaking oil. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact replaced the oil drain plug but continued to see oil leaking from the oil pan. The contact researched online and determined that there was a design flaw in the oil pan, which was a two-piece oil pan design. The contact related the failure to an undisclosed technical service bulletin, which addressed the failure with the two-piece oil pan by replacing it with a one-piece oil pan that was made of metal. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the oil pan needed to be replaced with a single-piece oil pan. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.

Vct / cam phasers need replaced on all 3. 5 ecoboost engines from 2017-2020. The failure of cam phasers can destroy the engine and if it happens on the road it can be deadly. At a minimum, replacing these cam phasers (due to poorly designed parts) is extremely expensive (between $5,000 to $10,000) and people put off this repair because it is cost prohibitive which will lead to engine failure, potentially at high speeds. My dealer (phil long Ford of denver) provided me an estimate of $5,000 to fix my cam phasers. Again, this is on every 2017-2020 Ford ecoboost 3. 5 engine.

The vct phaser are leaking oil causing the engine to knock when cold starting. There already was a recall but my vehicle wasn't on the list but it has the same defect as those in the recall.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine. The ticking sound was intermittent. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with excessive oil consumption, which was possibly caused by the intake manifold vacuum during some deceleration fuel shut off (dfso). The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact stated that three to four quarts of oil needed to be added between oil changes. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to TSB: 19-2338. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the nhsta hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 122,944.
The vct had begun to fail in my 2019 f150 platinum truck. It rattled on every cold start. There was a recall for my model and year truck for the vct issue, but for reasons I don't know, my truck was not apart of that recall. Back when the recall was issued my truck should have qualified, but I was never notified of any issue. I am the only owner of this truck and I have never changed my address while I have owned this truck. Customer satisfaction program 21n03 the repair has been completed and cost $5,200.
The 2024 f150 3. 5 ecoboost engine in my truck will surge when accelerating after a cold start. The issue always happens when you first get going and it goes away after the truck has driven off. It feels as if it is starving of fuel and has never thrown a code.

My car sometimes specially when I slow down and make turns it loose power and doesn’t respond to acceleration at all I have to wait 3 to 4 seconds to respond and this happens often a tok my truck to the Ford dealership serval times but always they say we didn’t find any problems with your truck and it’s very scary and dangerous if I am crossing a traffic light or a highway or passing another cars and happening there where I am gonna be in problem and more chances to crash.

Cam phasers failed, car becomes inoperable. This was a known issue that was brought in under warranty and was not fixed. Car had to be brought in for major repairs because it was not addressed under warranty.
While proceeding through a four-way stop, my vehicle unexpectedly lost driveline engagement. The engine began free-spinning while still in "drive," and the truck stopped accelerating, leaving me stranded in the middle of the intersection. I had to shift repeatedly between park and drive before the vehicle would respond and move again. This is not an isolated incident. The same failure occurred previously in early 2024. The vehicle has also exhibited persistent transmission issues, including gear hunting and harsh downshifts, particularly a hard clunk during the 4–3 shift on deceleration. The dealer has dismissed these symptoms in the past, stating it was due to the transmission being "cold. " however, the intermittent loss of driveline engagement presents a serious safety risk to myself and others, especially when it occurs in active traffic situations. This is the second time the vehicle has left me stranded without warning. I’m extremely concerned that Ford has not addressed this recurring safety issue. The condition is unpredictable and dangerous. Immediate investigation and corrective action are needed.

My manifolds have warped on my truck and is a common issue with Ford trucks. They use 8 bolts instead of 11 and know this will eventually cause the manifolds to warp. The dealership wants $5200 to fix it. Its not affordable so will have to drive it. Unfortunately exhaust can get into the passenger area and is dangerous. This has to be covered as Ford knew it would happen then gouge the consumer and could harm them. Thank you! casey.

While driving, wrench light comes on dash and I lose ability to accelerate. Have to turn truck off and on again to clear this problem but then it will continue to come back. Unsafe as it downshifts to first gear while driving. Doing research online, this is a common problem with Ford f150 and you issued campaign 19n01 in 2019 - transmission molded leadframe extended coverage. Problem is, this just started happening to my vehicle, and it looks like this extended warranty would have expired in 2022 or 2023. I purchased the truck used in 2020, but never knew about this. And since I wasn’t having these issues till a few weeks ago, I would not have been covered. I am writing as there are numerous other drivers having this same issue now after the warranty expired, and are having to pay $1500-$4000 out of pocket to fix a known issue. This seems like it should be a recall fixed free of charge, no matter when it starts happening. Just because it happens now vs before 2022-2023 does not make the issue any less serious. This can still cause accidents. Is there any solution to having this covered by Ford? can the campaign be extended or just be turned into a repair recall?.

Took my vehicle into a local Ford dealership and told them that there was rattling coming out of the engine bay. Provided the service advisor with multiple videos as well as took him for a drive to show him the sound. Advised that it happens at startup and on deceleration after the turbo has spooled. Technician who worked on it left it out in a hail storm which caused over $8k in damages and then proceeded to tell me that there were rocks in my skid plate which is what caused the rattle. To this day it still is not fixed. Additionally the following TSB's have been identified as a potential rattle point; however, I believe it to be the wastegate. Cam phaser failure. Has been a customer satisfaction program through Ford which I participated in but was not deemed to have the issue as described. The dealer has now inspected and confirmed it is the cam phaser and the program has expired.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated that three months after purchasing the vehicle, while her husband was driving, the vehicle was driving roughly, and the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. The contact was unaware whether any warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that there was a misfire in cylinders #1, #3, #4, and #6. The spark plugs were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, a month after the repair, there was an abnormal sound coming from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the wheel bearing and axle had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that there was a small oil leak coming from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was a known issue that was related to the customer satisfaction program: 21n03. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the oil leak was confirmed, and the dealer was informed about issues with the cam phasers. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and transferred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was being traded in at the dealer, the contact was informed that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, upper marlboro Ford (5701 crain hwy, upper marlboro, MD 20772), who also determined that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to customer satisfaction programs: 21n03 (cam phaser replacement) and 21b10 (powertrain control module reprogram for cam phaser rattle); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
My truck completely shut down while leaving the shop and I was only going about 6-10mph. The dash alert stated "fuel accessory" or something in orange, sorry, I panicked a little:) I took it to bradley Ford the next day and they couldn't fix it as they didn't know the issue. This happened a second time, but didn't shut off completely, it just felt like I was running out gas (full tank). I do live in lake havasu city, az and it's hot here so I don't let my truck go below 1/2 tank hoping this will help avoid a major accident. Thank you! julie burns 928-208-2867.
The vehicle is consuming oil at a 1 quart per 1100 mile rate. I have had it tested at a Ford dealer. There is technical service bulletin (TSB) 19-2365 for the year, make and model but Ford isnt offering a repair. The repair is approximately $14,000. 00 that should not be the consumers responsibility. Please help get a recall issued.
I drive a 2019 Ford F-150 with the 3. 5l engine and 10 speed transmission. I have received a warning for low fuel pressure, trouble starting, and the truck has cut off once after turning over. It never fails to crank, however, it may take 5 or so seconds of cranking to get it to start. I have had the check engine light come on one time over the last couple of months of the issues starting; the code it showed was a p00c6. I have not brought the vehicle in for service as it just started a couple months ago when it got hot outside and there was a recent recall that did not include this VIN but matches the issue exactly. The warning states to not drive the vehicle and to get it towed if fuel is not low. The recall states there is not a current fix for the issue and I need my vehicle. This is a daily problem, mostly after the vehicle sits for a couple of hours. I am also having an issue with the cam phaser rattle upon startup and rattling while driving. I have noticed some power reduction and it has progressively gotten worse over time. I am at 135,000 miles currently and have experienced this issue for the last 50,000 miles or so.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine. Neither a dealer nor an independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and transferred the contact to nthe htsa hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.
See attached document for complaint.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact pulled into a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed due to rod bearing failure. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.
The cause of the accident was due to an extremely hard downshift, then extremely hard upshift. Between the speeds of 25-37 mph the truck will do a hard downshift with a 1-3 second loss of power delay. When it finally grabs gear it takes off like a rocket before grabbing the next gear and back to what feels normal. This is something I never experienced in my 2022 Ford f150 with the same motor and transmission. This particular day, I had pulled off to the side of the road to let the mail carrier go through the narrow section of the road first. This particular section, there is a huge tree right next to the road (approximately 12"-14" off the road). After the mail carrier passed, I started to speed up. Upon hitting 34 mph, the transmission shifted hard, pulled me into the ditch, and by the time the gear grabbed, and I had power to control, I hit the tree. As a habit, since this issue happened numerous times, I looked at the speedometer and just prior to impact I was at 43 mph. The transmission is not the only issue that I have been having with this vehicle. There has been a fuel consumption issue, a hard start issue (does not matter time of day), as well as a grinding issue at the front right wheel. This truck is equipped with a 36-gallon fuel tank. At the city driving mpg and a 34-gallon fill-up, I should have been getting 544 miles/tank. However, that was not the case as I was only getting 440-447 miles/tank (did not matter whether normal, eco, or sport mode driving). Each fill up was a 24-28 gallon fill-up leaving 8-10 gallons unaccounted for. A pcm update was done but it only got me to 510 miles with a 30-gallon fill-up. Each complaint I made with the transmission went ignored with me being told "this is normal for the 10 speeds. You will just need to learn to deal with it. " after the pcm update with no true fix, I was told "drive it to zero mte and calculate from there how far you can drive, then you know. " this is a horrible and extremely unsafe answer to give.
On 7/18/25 I picked up F-150 from being repaired (failed belt drive generator/starter tensioner). About 3 hours later I was driving up a long grade at about 5,000 feet when I stopped to check on my cargo (a bicycle). At this point I noticed the cooling fans were running increasingly fast, much faster then they had ever run before. I checked the digital temperature gauge and it showed a normal temperature. I opened the hood and saw there was no coolant in the overflow bottle. I assumed the truck was just a bit low on coolant and I had some (5 liters) water with me so I added that to the overflow bottle. Very little water was visible in the overflow bottle. I replaced the cap, turned off the a/c and immediately headed back to the dealer. At no point did the check engine light come on. At no point did the temperature gauge move from the "normal" area. At no point did any warning message of any time appear on the driver display - unless it occured when I was refilling the overflow bottle. The engine was not operating normally however, the gas engine stayed on at all times and did not cycle on and off as it normally would do (truck is a hybrid). When I arrived at the dealer they attempted to fill the coolant system and said it was completely empty - no sign of the 5 liters of water I put into the system. The cause of the leak was identified as the eghr system, specifically the plastic coolant inlet port. This failure is discussed in Ford customer satisfaction program 24n04 - attached. This failure should not have occured. But when it did occur the vehcile should have warned the driver that a serious overheating event was occuring. No mil was set. No driver warners were made and the temperature gauge remained in the normal range at all times. The only way I because aware of the problem was by noticing the increasing speed of the cooling fans. This could lead to fire, or unexpected engine failure or burns from overheated radiator.
