6 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/04/2012

Engine miss fire. The engine when trying to pass miss fires and actually slows down. When I took the vehicle to a Ford dealer they told me there was nothing wrong and it was not miss firing. It continued to do this and I repeatedly took it back for service with the same result. After doing some research there were many esb's on this subject with the turbo cooling system returning water back to the firing chambers burning out the spark plugs, coil packs, and sending raw fuel to the catalytic converter burning it out. I was never notified of these issues even though the esb's were available to the Ford dealer of the issues now that the warranty is over I am expected to repair these issues. This is fraud!!!.

7 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1997 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/10/2010

97 f150 with 130k engine gasket blew. This engine had a recall on engine and timing cover gaskets, and when I typed my VIN number in on the Ford site, they said I had no outstanding recalls. I asked Ford for the name of the dealer who lied and said they did the work and only got paid for it, and Ford said they had no info. I got the shaft, and it cost 5k to get engine rebuilt myself.

11 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1997 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/21/2009

I have a 1997 F-150 4. 6 v8 with approx 270,xxx miles on it. Around three years ago I replaced the original radiator at around 190,xxx miles, seemed fair that's a decent life I thought for a radiator. I took it to my local Ford dealer for replacement. Since then I am now need of my fourth radiator, the last radiator was replaced in Jan 2008. My local Ford dealer and Ford customer care folks are saying that the part is out of their 12 month/12,000 mile warranty and that there is nothing they can do. All repairs for this vehicle have been completed at this dealer for the past five or so years. My contention is that clearly these parts are suspect and the repair and failure history seems to support this.

12 Engine Cooling System problem of the 2001 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/10/2009

While on a trip and 400 miles from home , the vehicle started missing severely. We were able to get to our destination some 180 miles further. The following morning the check engine light came on and the vehicle was malfunctioning badly. We got a dealer to repair it. The intake manifold was cracked and causing water/antifreeze to create the problem. The manifold was replaced along with other necessary parts. Apparently this is a common problem on the F-150.

Ford F-150 has accelerated with foot on brake pedal 4 times, twice while in reverse, twice when stopping, always at low speed. It was hard to stop truck, even with foot full on pedal. The engine was racing with high rpm's. Restarting engine resolved issue or putting it in neutral. There is also an issue with a/c ventilation. Temperature varies from cool to hot when dial is set to mostly cool air flow, requiring constant adjusting. Truck has been to dealer 3 times and am told they can't fix it unless they experience it themselves.

My truck has 90,000 miles and I am paying $1200 dollars to have this problem rectified. Ford has issues TSB's on this issue since 1999 and nothing is being done to reimburse or protect the consumer from this recognized failure. This should be an official recall and reimbursement made to owners who have paid to have this condition rectified.

The tire was not inspected for the cause of the failure although, the tire was replaced. The third problem is the cooling system bolts were loose. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for routine inspection and maintenance when the looseness of the bolts was discovered. The dealership tightened the bolts for repair.

28 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1999 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/03/2005

I have a 1999 F-150 Ford pick-up truck 4-2l v-6, I was having a low cooleant problem. Took it to mcdonough radiator shop, they replaced water pump and gasket. It was still loosing cooleant. I called the dealership and ask if there was a recall for this vehicle and was told no there was not. I took it back to the same radiator shop after a closer inspection they removed the intake manifold and found water in the back two cylinders. They replaced the intake manifold gaskets, I picked the vehicle up I had not drove more than 3 miles before it started to make a knocking noise. I called the repair shop and took it back immeadiately, now they tell me that I have 2 bent push rods. They are suppose to replace them today. I found out later that I was not the only one having this problem, after some research on the internet I found a web site that has an long list of people with the same complaint. When I called Ford motor company customer "no service" I was told that there had been no recalls on this vehicle for that problem and that they could not help me in any way because of the warrenty had expired. According to jasper engine rebuilders the problem stems from a poorly designed gasket for the intake manifold and that is what caused this problem, got this information from one of their tech bullitens.

31 Engine Cooling System problem of the 1998 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/20/2005

I have an Ford f150 with the 4. 2 v6 engine. I have taken good care with oil changes every 3-5,000 miles. In 2001 I noticed it was losing coolant. Took it to dealer and they found nothing wrong. Have had it checked twice since then. Coming home from work yesterday, I noticed the oil pressure dropped to 0 everytime I stopped and the engine idled. Took it to personal mechanic and he called Ford dealership. He was told the engine was getting ready to blow. That there was a problem with this motor and mine has lasted more than most. I have seen on the web other f150 owners with the same problem. Coolant leaking into the cylinders and destroying the engine. Ford should take responsibility for this defective engine. Mine would probably have gone out before now, but I changed the oil really well. Now I'm out $4,000 to put in a new engine.

My '97 Ford f150 4. 2l v6 failed in my driveway upon starting three weeks after purchasing it. After turning the ignition, I heard loud knocking and banging coming from the engine and I shut it down. I found oil pouring from under the engine. Upon inspection found that the # 2 connecting rod was shattered which took out the oil pan, the oil pick up tube, and bent the crank shaft. Removed upper intake manifold, and found coolant in the rear port of the lower intake manifold.
