1 Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/25/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving various speeds, the front end of the vehicle shook and vibrated and the rear end of the vehicle became unstable and swayed from side to side. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer (werner Hyundai in tallahassee, FL) where it was diagnosed that the leaf springs were faulty and needed to be replaced. The parts were not available and the vehicle was not repaired. Later, while the vehicle was parked, a loud air pressure type noise was heard under the hood. The contact discovered oil had leaked from the engine. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, but no failures related to an oil leak were found. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 92,000.

2 Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/23/2017

Frame rusted and cracked, 72,000 miles. I'm the original owner. Note, all other underbody components appear normal for age and miles; though I don't have too much faith in rear drive shaft. Location is in front leaf spring attachment bracket adjacent to fuel tank.

3 Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem of the 1998 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/29/2013

The contact owns a 1998 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle, he noticed that the retaining clips that supported the front and rear leaf springs were missing. There was a recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 98v161000 (fuel system, gasoline, suspension). The recall expired. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

4 Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem of the 1998 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/08/2011

The contact owns a 1998 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked when he noticed that one of the fuel tank straps was fractured due to corrosion. The two remaining fuel tank straps were experiencing corrosion as well, but were not fractured. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and was repaired under the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 11v385000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:mounting). The contact expressed concern because only the fractured strap was replaced under the recall. The contact was informed that according to the recall, they were only obligated to replace the fractured strap. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they would only replaced the strap which fractured. The contact also stated that the rear leaf springs fractured and pierced through the truck bed due to corrosion. In addition, the frame under the front driver side also exhibited rust and corrosion. The failure mileage was 175,000.

5 Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem of the 1997 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/25/2002

Nhtsa# 8719-98-v-095-161-000 rear leaf spring, the center leaf of the sppring can fracture at the forward edge of the spring seat. Consumer states vehicle has a noise and the spring is falling apart. Dealer has been notified. Ts.

6 Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem of the 1997 Ford F-150

Bottom leaf spring has moved to the outside of the truck. Dealer replaced the leaf spring on the driver's side, and the leaf spring on the passenger's side has been readjusted (3) times and needs readjusting again.

7 Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem of the 1998 Ford F-150

Consumer heard a banging noise coming from the rear of the vehicle consumer stopped the vehicle and a piece of metal fell off onto the ground. Consumer picked it up, took the vehicle to mechanic who stated the leaf spring failed.
