The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated soon after purchasing the vehicle, there was an overpowering gasoline odor from the vehicle interior. The dealer advised that the fuel rail was defective and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was left in the dealers possession where the contact was awaiting repairs. The VIN was not available. The current and failure mileages were approximately 1,100.

The contact owns a 1999 Ford f150. The high pressure fuel rail on the engine rusted very badly. The contact just noticed this problem yesterday, the vehicle was purchased brand new, and it has low mileage. The dealership told him that he should probably file a complaint; but they have not looked at the vehicle yet. The vehicle was purchased November 27, 1998. Update 11/15/05.

Odor of gasoline, caught on fire. An investigator determined that the fire originated in the engine compartment and had ignited from gasoline vapors. It was determined that the fuel rail had cracked, causing the fuel leak.
