Driving about 30mph down a rural street and I started to lightly apply brakes as I was coming to a corner. The truck lost all power and the engine shut off. No power steering nor power brakes. A message appeared in the cluster display saying autostart shift to p and restart engine. I had to pull the truck over to a side street narrowly missing a semi truck that was coming down the street(because it was difficult to turn and stop the vehicle since the power assist was no longer working). I had to completely stop the truck, place shifter into park position and restart it. It worked fine after this. The vehicle had been started about 3 minutes prior to the event. It was 54 degrees and engine had not completely warmed up yet.
For the second time today, my 2020 f150 has turned itself off, while I was driving, with a message to "shift to park and restart engine". I happened to be pulling into my driveway, so stopping and doing so was not a safety problem. The first time, I was in a parking lot and was able to coast to a stop and do this, but if this happens on a road, or worse, when entering an intersection when crossing without stopping is necessary, someone is going to get killed. . I have not bothered to report this to Ford, because I am active on an f150 forum and have found that this same thing has happened to many other people, and Ford has no idea how to fix it. I noticed several people said it happened when the weather was chilly - one person said it was 42 degrees. In my case, the weather today is 40, and it was similar weather last time it happened. I have no idea if this is related, but it's an interesting coincidence otherwise. My car was moderately warmed up, I had only driven about 8 miles. Picture of the dash from today's incident attached. In both cases, the truck was otherwise driving fine, giving no indication of problems, and also started right back up and showed no other problem. It has probably been about 3 months since the first time. The second time was today - 3. 16. 2021.

I purchased it brand new in October 2018, doors would randomly fly open when cornering. I brought it in there was a recall it was fixed. Then when it is below 30 degrees my rear sensor drivers side would show a steady red and beep when there was no danger. The dealer told me that there is most likely moisture in the sensor but would not replace it. Then at 41,000 miles my engine blew a rod. They told me I was not changing oil frequently enough. I change my own oil. I provided receipts for oil but they would not warranty it, I paid $15,000 out of pocket to have a new engine installed. I called Ford corporate and after four months of investigating they had the dealer refund my money. Then at 43,000 miles I was on vacation and the sunroof would not close. I brought it to a local dealer who said there might be something in the track but they would need the truck for 4 days and I was leaving the next day. I brought it to my local dealer upon return and they charged me $4,300 to replace the entire panoramic roof rails and chassis. Most recently my 10 speed transmission was shifting very hard and in the weeks following that a check engine light came on. I called another local dealer because I had lost all confidence in the dealer I purchased the truck new from. They told me that the wiring harness for the transmission was not properly secured and chafing caused it to run through and cause false and intermittent signals. They told me because it was negligence on the dealer who replaced the engine. I would have to go after them for the $800 fix. The same dealer who replaced the harness called me later that week while waiting for the part, told me that it was now the trans valve core. They replaced it and it is has not changed anything. They are currently waiting on direction from Ford. I have been in a loaner or rental for well over 90 days cummulativley. Unnacceptable!.
I own a 2001 f150 super cab 44 the Ford motor company has already admitted that the problem was their fault something about for some reason they left metal shavings between the head of the motor and the block of the motor causing it to leak oil really really bad onto the starter and the exhaust manifold and it just pours oil as fast as you can pour it in which is a high probability of the exhaust manifold to ignite the oil and burst into flames why they haven't already done a recall is beyond me they made a upgraded head gasket that they will sell you and you can fix their mistake on your own nickel but I don't have over 3000 dollars to pull the engine and fix the problem its a 5. 4 engine and every one I have seen around the same year model has the exact same oil leak that could be very dangerous not to mention it has already messed up the integrity of my engine.

Hill descent control fault/ service advancetrac warning suddenly turned on. Alternated w service light. But I was just driving home from work on a 70 degree day on a dry paved road decelerating from a 40mph zone to a 30 mph zone up a slight incline. I wasn't using hill descent and traction was fine. The disturbing part was the vehicle suddenly ran rough and had no power. I could not get it to run well enough pull it over out of the traffic lane. An on off cycle returned function for a few seconds and I got around the corner before the fault occurred again. With no hills the last block I got to my driveway where a longer off period returned the vehicle to function. This type of sudden power loss could cause an accident.

Vehicle stalls randomly while driving, no matter if it's on the highway or city streets. This is dangerous. It has been to the dealer 4 times. It's there now and they are unable to figure it out. Ford is aware of this problem and recalled the 2011 and 2012 and some 2013s. But not mine. This vehicle needs to be recalled. It's an accident waiting to happen. It left me stranded it rural colorado in a snow storm in 7 degree weather with my daughter. I did restart but that would have been really bad had it not.

No hill assist flashed first, then traction control, then flashed check engine warning. Engine stayed on but in idle only with no throttle control, lost power steering too. Got to side of road. Pumped throttle. No response. Turned off. Restarted and cranked little longer than normal and started but idling rough. Turned off again. Restarted. Smooth that time. Dropped in gear and drove 4 hours home in sport mode at 75 mph. No more issues last week till yesterday morning. Drove wife to dr on our 45 mile back country roads. Issue came back. This time ran rough when restarted. Then smoothed out. Did it 3 more times on way there. Which was 6 miles. On way home, reoccurred multiple times never getting it above 40 miles per hour before happening again. Called 3 tow companies, all were 2 hours out. Limped it home with flashers at 25 mph. Had towed today to diffee Ford in el reno. They said yes a TSB, but no Ford not covering the cost of repair 61,340 multiple law suits have been filed complaints on the throttle body defective needing replaced leaving driver stranded.

Was driving my 2006 F-150 over a mountain pass in canada. There was compact snow and ice on the roadway and I was traveling with other vehicles around me at approxamtly 40 mph. The vehicles ahead of me began to brake, I as well tried to brake only to find my truck had lost power and was no longer running. I had lost power to my brakes and steering. This caused my truck to begin sliding on the snow and ice and I was unable to control my vehicle. The cars around me were slowing and stopping and I could not. I began to fish tail in both directions while trying desperately to control my truck with no brakes or power steering, I eventually did a complete 360 degree spin and somehow managed to get the truck under control with out rolling over and into the ditch or smashing into the other vehicles around me. When I came to a stop my truck was not running and the dash lights were on. I placed the transmission into drive and restarted the truck without issue and continued on without issue. This is the second time this has happened with this truck, the first time I was on a residential street and I was able to just coast to a stop and restarted the truck. This last incedent on the mountain pass has confirmed to me that I will not own another Ford as I have researched this problem to find that this is a commen issue with Ford trucks. I am certain this has caused major accidents if not deaths and the fact there are no error codes left behind from the events to verify this has happened we may never know. The fact it has happened to me twice and once only a miracle a serious accident didn't occur I am done with the Ford motor company.

3. 5 v6 ecoboost fire. Completely burned my truck to the ground with my family driving in, wife and 5 yr old. Passenger suffered 3rd degree burns, 12/10/2016. Truck was in motion, we smelt smoke and within 2 minutes the truck was completely engulfed.
While vehicle was in motion. Operating ok and then engine started to shudder and continued to do so. Weather was clear 75 degrees and sun shine. - engine light is on. Ecoboost engine with 4,200 miles. I turned the ac off still shudders. This has gone on now for 3 days. I am taking do dealer tomorrow 28nov2016.
2016 Ford F-150 XLT 2. 7l ecoboost automatic model with approximately 3,400 miles. Had already driven about 4-5 miles with engine already warmed up. Dry weather and about 69 degrees f outside. Came up to stop light with other vehicles ahead slowed down. Came to a complete stop and the auto-stop function engaged and the engine shut off. The roadway was fairly level. Waited approximately 20-30 seconds until light turned green. Traffic ahead started to move forward. I let off the brakes and the auto-start engaged. I continued to ease off brakes and allowed the truck to roll and idle forward with the flow of the vehicles ahead. I then applied my foot on the accelerator and began accelerating with the flow of the traffic. All of a sudden, the engine shuts off. At first I didn't realize it had shut off and was surprised that I wasn't able to accelerate anymore. Then I looked at instrument panel and saw that the speedometer was reading 17 mph and slowly dropping as the truck was just coasting along. My first thought was that maybe I had accidentally thrown it into neutral somehow, but the gear was still in "d" and applying gas did not move the tachometer as it had dropped to zero. Then I saw the battery symbol pop up. This is when I realized the engine had shut off during acceleration, possibly during gear shift sequence. At this point the vehicle is still rolling roughly 10 mph, so I engage it into neutral and crank the ignition and it starts up again. There is traffic behind me at this point so I change gear into "d" and am then able to accelerate normally up to proper speed. I could not recreate this again for the next 5-6 miles home, even with numerous stop lights where I would recreate the same auto-stop/start and accelerate actions.
On 03/17/2016 I was driving on route 287 in new jersey in the fast lane at speeds around 65 mph my truck had a loss of power. The check engine light never came on and the truck started shuttering really bad, with the accelerator pushed down the truck was slowing down and the cars behind me were hitting their brakes. After about 2 minutes the truck went back to normal. I brought the truck to the dealership and they were unable to diagnose the problem. They said they know about this issue and removed the air deflector and reprogrammed the powertrain control module. 7 days later I had another close call on route 287 in new jersey when my truck started misfiring and shuttering. Again no check engine light ever came on. I brought the truck back to the dealership. There were no diagnostic trouble codes or alarms. The mechanic took the truck for a test drive using an integrated diagnostic system and found a power balance and cylinder #4 misfire. They replaced #4 coil and gave the truck back to me. 24 hours later and another close call the truck is back to the dealership and I was told it was another cylinder #4 misfire. The dealership is being very helpful and trying everything they can but this is an enormous safety problem and if this issue is not corrected it can turn into a fatal ending.
4th time in less than a year my power steering hose has blown off when I start the truck when the temp is below 0 degrees f. It was double clamped and been repaired by professionals multiple times. This should be recalled and fixed.

Driving 70mph, highway 41n-wisconsin, just north of oshkosh, legal speed limit, 35 degree weather, nearing end of a 90 mile trip with wife and granddaughter, early evening, when I heard a noise/thud, then had dash engine warning lights and alarms go off as well as severe vibrating and noises under the hood with loss of power. Managed to get my 4x4 truck out of center lane and into emergency lane without being hit. Tried restarting engine a couple of times, which it did, but I shut it down immediately both times because of severe vibration and noise. After arranging for emergency road service and a police officer to protect my backside from traffic approaching from the rear, the truck was towed to my Ford dealership of 12 years. I had purchased my truck there new and did all my maintenance there, except maybe a couple of oil changes when I have been out of state. There the truck was diagnosed to have cam phaser failure and needed a 5,000+ engine replacement @ 130,000 miles. Unbelievable. I've had the cracked windshield, the rear seal issues, the various electronic failures and yes, the Ford spark plug issue with broken plugs during a maintenance change. I still loved my truck until it nearly caused my family and I serious injury or death, or possibly some other undeserving soul. I'm not replacing the engine and am trying to extract whatever remaining value exists. The dealership has been indifferent to the situation and has done little. So yes, I'm livid about the money and the loss of it, but am also livid and concerned as to who has to be hurt or worse yet killed before something is done. There are literally 100s/1000s of cam phaser complaints for the triton 5. . 4l that I have read through as well as having talked to a few mechanics since the incident. Thank you Ford for taking my money and jeopardizing my family's safety. I am no longer a Ford customer!.

September 2015 I-75 north bound, attempted to pass a vehicle at 70 mph and had loss of power, check engine light and violent engine shaking for 5-10 minutes on the highway before shaking and check engine light stopped. Happened in the gainesville FL area cloudy but dry day, had all scheduled maintenance done in venice FL prior to getting on the road at the dealership, 36,500 miles. October 2015 I-44 east bound tulsa ok, reentering the interstate had loss of power unable to enter at appropriate speeds, check engine light and violent shaking. Slammed on gas and then brake pedals with no difference. Pulled off the interstate parked the truck, turned off and restarted as soon as it started gunned the gas pedal rpm in the red line and again the truck lost all power, check engine light and shook did this for 30 minutes until I was able to start the truck and gun the rpm into the red line without loss of power. Called dealership asking about hydroplaning and engine losing power like in the tundra trucks, was told no Ford does not have that safety feature. Cold and wet weather conditions 40,000 miles. November 2015 on TX 82 west bound at 80 mph, 35 degrees and rainy conditions. Attempted to pass a semi and had loss of power, check engine light and violent shaking was a passenger in the truck at this time and was still able to feel the shaking from the engine. Again lasted 5-10 minutes. Went to the dealership for oil change before the trip in the beginning of November. 43,000 miles. Have been to my dealership asking about this problem, and have been told there may be a recall but so far nothing. I do interstate driving in less than ideal conditions (rain, snow and ice) I need this truck to preform that is why I bought it. I understand it takes time and money to make a recall happen, but make no mistake this is going to cause accidents.
On my way home from the lake, my vehicle starting idling rough. Pulled over to check things out, couldn't find any noticable issues. Retarted vehicle and engine started smoking. I raised the hood and smoke was billowing out from the coil atop the number 2 spark plug, drivers side, looking from front to rear of engine. Had thevehicle towed to bill collins Ford of louisville,ky. They informed me that the spark plugs needed changing. Upon removal, 4 of the eight spark plugs broke off in the engine head. This cost me $857. 00 to change 8 spark plugs that normally I could do myself. The breaking of spark plugs in this type engine, 5. 4l triton, is a well known issue, that Ford motor company knew about. Yet they have yet to do a recall. Instead, they developed a tool to take these broken sprk plugs out, yet the consumer still has to pay sometimes upwards of $2,000. 00 for the repair. Ford used a substandard part in their vehicles and refuse to honor the customer. They no lonegr use that type engine, but anyone with a 5. 4l triton engine from Ford will have to pay a lot of money to change eight spark plugs when the time comes. I could not put my vehcile into gear when this happened, that seems like a safety concern to me!.
While attempting to pass a slow moving vehicle on a two lane road, the engine on my truck started sputtering, then lost speed and power very rapidly. At that point the check engine light started blinking and the truck almost stalled. Fortunately I was able to pull into a parking lot and avoid other drivers. Had an oncoming car been too close, or had I not had a parking lot to pull into, there was a strong possibility I would have had an accident. I have had this happen to a lesser degree in the past, but not to the extent I experienced above, nor did the check engine light ever start blinking. At the time I passed this off as being bad gas, my tires slipping or some other issue and thought no more of it. At this point I don't want others to get put into the same situation, which could result in someone getting hurt. Because reports of this happening to trucks of the same year, make, model and engine I felt compelled to file this complaint.

Follow up to complaint listed below (beginning with summary): it should be noted that this incident did not occur in humid or rainy conditions. This incident did not occur while travelling at highway speed or wide open throttle. This incident occurred while starting from a complete stop under light acceleration turning left across traffic. Vehicle lost all power and would not move. Pushing the gas pedal did increase engine rpm but vehicle would not move. The behavior exhibited by the vehicle sounds very similar to the condensation problem I have been made aware of with the 3. 5 v6 ecoboost. However none of the circumstances Ford claims causes the issue existed. This is an extremely dangersous condition. Weather was approximately 15 degrees and sunny. I have experienced the problem when the vehicle has been cold and after it has been running for a while. Summary: while attempting to cross oncoming traffic lanes to access interstate vehicle began to move then suddenly lost all power. Rpm's went up to 4000 rpm but vehicle would not move. Vehicles were approaching in excess of 50mph. I managed to barely avoid being struck by oncoming traffic and pulled to side of ramp. Vehicle then began to move again. Took vehicle in for service. Dealership performed two fixes involving some form of air dam. On 02/24 vehicle did the same thing luckily in a parking lot this time. This is an extremely dangerous condition which leaves no error codes so far. I am seeing many similar complain ts online. Taking vehicle in for service again on 3/3/15 as the issue occurred again today 3/2/15.

2014 f150 ecoboost in service for 9 months. After driving 4-5 hrs in moderate rain, 35-40 degrees, during acceleration to enter interstate, engine stumbled badly with flashing check engine light. I was concerned of being rear-ended by traffic behind me. After a mile or two the flashing check engine light went out. The truck responded normally for about two hundred miles after this incident. Am on a trip and 1500 miles from home so have not yet taken the truck a dealer. This report is during mid-trip.
I had been on the highway for 6 hours with intermittent rain, about 3. 5 hours since last stop, 1/2 tank of gas remaining. Location was I-65 north near elizabethtown, ky, 11:15 pm, with mist, wet road and spray. Weather records indicate 50 degrees and falling, light rain, 84% humidity. I had the F-150 in 4wd-auto mode due to the road conditions. For several miles another car had been continually staying in my blind spot in the lane immediately to the left, despite attempts to clear with gradual reductions/increases in my speed. My general cruising speed was about 70 mph. I was in the right lane approaching a very slow-moving tractor trailer, so I accelerated moderately-hard to move ahead of the car to my left and was changing into that lane when the F-150 started shaking violently and lost speed. My wife thought that we had collided with something in the road. I quickly veered back into the right lane and braked hard, narrowly avoiding an actual collision. I suspected we had some type of engine or transmission problem, but while coasting the vehicle seemed to be running smoothly. I switched from 4wd-auto to 2wd and tried to gently accelerate again, but the F-150 started shaking again and the check-engine light started flashing. I pulled off of the road, and by the time I came to a stop the light had stopped flashing. I checked all around and under the vehicle, under hood, gauges, etc. With no further sign of a problem. I stopped and started the engine, then drove away and the F-150 performed normally for remainder of trip to louisville, ky. The next day I took the F-150 to a local dealer, who advised that I had experienced the "classic scenario" for condensation in the charge-air cooler, causing engine misfires. The F-150 is getting very poor gas mileage ever since. Home dealer has declined service because obd codes are no longer present. Engine: 3. 5l gtdi (ecoboost).
While driving my 2012 f150 ecoboost at 55mph I had to accelerate to merge into traffic. 75degrees outside with light rain. The motor stumbled and lost power. Service engine soon light appeared. I let of the accelerator and truck regained power. To to shop for diagnosis and computer showed 3 cylinder misfires. This happens constantly and Ford refuses to come with a solution. Is it going to take a fatality before someone care?.

My 2012 truck has the 3. 5l eco-boost engine and it has shut itself down (gone into limp mode) at least 12 times. This morning (4-17-14) it just happened three times within a 45 min window. The temp outside was 50 degrees f and not raining. Normally this vehicle goes into limp mode during a turn or after a stop, but it has also happened at normal driving speeds (45-50mph). This is a new vehicle and I am no longer comfortable driving this vehicle due to safety concerns. This issue has almost create three separate accidents.
On February 13, 2014, my Ford 2011 F-150 ecoboost began to show signs of limited throttle response coupled with a drastic reduction in power output and moderate to severe engine vibration. These symptoms occurred and were most severe under heavy engine load, while traveling uphill, high outside air temperature and with the air conditioner on. General locations: mojave high desert (joshua tree, CA) and the greater palm springs, CA area. Weather conditions were generally dry with low humidity. On February 15, 2014 the symptoms described above were so violent that the check engine came on (flashing) and I pulled off the road for my own safety. I shut off the engine, allowed it to rest¿ and then turned the engine back on. The symptoms did not disappear completely, but they were reduced and the check engine light was no longer illuminated. On February 20, 2014 I brought my truck to yucca valley Ford to have the problem diagnosed. Mileage at the time of the service was 68,382 miles. A diagnosis was performed and it was determined that the engine was misfiring on the number 1 cylinder due to worn spark plugs. All 6 spark plugs were replaced and the symptoms disappeared. The truck ran fine until approximately June, 2014. The symptoms slowly began to reoccur and by early August, had fully returned. On August 8, 2014, while traveling at freeway speeds, up a steep grade, with external air temperatures in the low 100 degrees, low humidity, and the air conditioner on, the truck nearly lost all power, began to misfire and vibrate violently, and the check engine light began to flash intermittently. Upon reaching the top of the grade and the load on the engine reduced, the symptoms were reduced. The truck was again brought to the yucca yalley Ford service center on Saturday August 9, 2014 where it is currently awaiting diagnosis.
I was driving my f150 2012 ecoboost on an onramp getting on to the freeway. It was raining, wet and about 50 degrees. I accelerated from about 35 to 65 mph to change lanes and get in line with traffic. The engine lost power and the truck started shaking. There was about a mile stretch where the vehicles power was completely unpredictable. When I let my foot off the gas the truck would stop shaking. This was very scary as cars were bearing down on me from behind and I had to get over to the far right lane incase I needed to come to a stop. The vehicle then seemed to function normally and I drove about 5 miles straight to the Ford dealership.
I brought my truck in to my local Ford dealer because the check engine light came on. It is a 2006 f150 4. 6l - after his inspection, the mechanic stated that the bottom of the #2 spark plug (manufacture installed) had disintegrated and fell into the head causing so much damage to the #2 cylinder that I have to replace the entire engine at a cost of over $6,000 plus tax. It will take over a week to fix and I do not have another vehicle. I would like Ford to reimburse me for the expense. I have written to their "customer care" ( cas-3961775-r2m8s5 and cas-3961841-h9x7t2) department, but have had no helpful or satisfactory results. This is a known issue as Ford has issued a TSB and developed a tool to assist with the removal of faulty spark plugs.
Went to start truck and engine would crank but would not fire. I tried the starting fluid test to see if it was an ignition problem or fuel problem. Gave a little shot of starting fluid into the intake and then tried to start. Motor acted like it was going to start but never started beings I didn't give it enough starting fluid to start because I'm not a fan of using it. With that I eliminated the ignition had to be fuel. I got on the internet and searched no start problem for 2006 F-150 and found a you tube video of the fuel pump control module rusting out. Went out and dropped spare tire and took the control module off the cross member and noticed the hole corroded through the housing just like the video. I got the upgraded part from a Ford dealer for $163 and installed. Runs fine now. My biggest complaint is Ford knows there's a problem since the have came out with an upgraded control module so why isn't this a recall? I live in a state that temperatures in the winter months can be below 0 degrees fahrenheit and drive an hour one way to work, this could have happened when I was on the road in extreme cold, could of had my two children with me broke down on the side of the road and cold out. Luckily it happened at home but still it was 4 degrees out and laying under my truck taking the module off was not very pleasant. Think this is something that Ford needs to do something about.
Purchased new 2013 Ford eco pickup. It was advertised and sold to be a high efficient fuel economical vehicle. First time temperatures dropped below 30 degrees f, my fuel mileage drastically dropped. After discussion with dealership, they seemed to be aware of the affect cold air had on its fuel mileage. Prior to cold weather I was experiencing 18 to 24 mpg. As soon as cold weather arrived I was experiencing 12 to 14 mpg. This type of mileage is consistent all through the winter until late spring. Seems the 24 mpg is unachievable anymore. Dealership briefly explained the boosters work best in warm weather. This information was not offered during the purchase process. I even showed them a magazine article written on how Fords eco boost had been experiencing lower than advertised mpg. The salesman acknowledged the article and said they had corrected the problem. I was told during a maintenance process, that it had to have 12,000 miles before they could test it for lack of mpg. I had it inspected at 11,800 miles and they claim there is nothing they can do. My advice to anyone purchasing a 150 eco boost expecting good to above average mpg, it will not happen.
I was driving in highway traffic in the right hand lane at about 70-75 miles per hour. The weather was clear and the temperature was approximately 50 degrees. I encounter a slow moving vehicle and moved into the left hand lane and tried to promptly accelerate to pass a slower vehicle. When I attempted to accelerate the vehicle began to shake violently and go into a very rapid deceleration. The violent vibration of the entire vehicle and rapid deceleration made control a challenge. I moved to the right hand lane reduced speed to 50 mph and continued on to a Ford dealership to have the vehicle evaluated. The dealership found that 3 coils failed which caused the vehicle to vibrate and decelerate rapidly. I had the vehicle repaired.
