Was on a slick road. I was going 15 miles an hour, when my 2000 Ford F-150 spun completely around. When the truck spun around it went towards the ditch backwards. When I hit the ditch the truck flipped onto the passenger side. When the tow truck arrived on the scene he informed me that the rear tire broke off the axle. I had never heard of this happening at such a slow speed, neither had the tow truck driver, especially since it was a heavy half ton load axle . When we were looking at the axle in the light it appeared that it crystallized and snapped. I am a welder and work with metal every day and the axle look almost like cast.

I purchased a Ford f150 new in January of 2004. At approx 4000 miles the vehicle developed a loud whine in the rear axle. Differential. The dealer replaced the gears in the differential and the whine disappeared. Shortly after, the vehicle developed a vibration that occurred at around 45-55 mph, worse at just over 50. The dealer replaced the entire rear axle assembly but the problem persists. I was told by the service manager that this is a problem with all these trucks and there is no fix. I am very dissatisfied with this truck.

Passenger side rear tire broke off at the axle, while going approximately 35 mph, causing the truck to spin out. Unexplainable, did not have an accident for this to happen.
