I smelled gas fumes near my 2002 f150 truck. Looked underneath to inspect where smell was coming from and found the back brace on the gas tank broken off and rusted out hole in the tank where the brace was supposed to be.

Hello I own a 2000 Ford f150 and noticed a corroded strap hanging from my gas tank. Today (6-14) I smelled gas and am taking it in to the shop. I was checking online to see how much it will cost and saw there is an investigation and possible recall coming. I will take some pics before I take it in. My wife went to church on 06/11/2011,when she entered the church the fuel tank on our 2000 F-150 Ford fell to the ground with a full tank of fuel. There were many people there that saw what happend need help.
The front strap that holds the gas tank on my 2001 F-150 has rusted off. I read where you are investigating this failure. Is there a current recall?.

The front gas tank support hanger broke due to corrosion. The rear hanger held the tank in place until I was able replace both units. The rear hanger did not break but was severely corroded also. I don't know what would have happen if I would have lost both units together while driving down the road.
I filled my gas tank up and the next day my gas tank fell on my Ford f150. I looked in my driveway and on the street and found one of the brackets rusted on the street. Luckily I was in a parking lot and heard the tank drop or there could have been serious injuries.
2001 Ford F-150. Consumer states problem with vehicle gas tank the consumer stated while driving, he heard a loud metal noise. He pulled to the side of the road, exited the vehicle and looked underneath, only to discover the entire gas tank was on the ground. I filled my vehicle up full of fuel (26 gallons) the night before the incident. When leaving work for lunch I pulled out of the drive and drove approx. 400 feet at 25 mph and heard a loud grinding noise that was constant, I pulled into the parking lot 20 feet ahead and parked the truck. The front and center fuel tank strap gave out and the front of the fuel tank was laying on the ground. There was a hole in the front of the tank from dragging it approx. 100 feet. I lost approx. 10 gallons of fuel and was able to get the rest out the tank.

Back strap of gasoline tank on our Ford 150 broke and tank got disconnected from filler hose.
While driving at highway speed my 2002 Ford F-150 dropped the fuel tank and the tank was dragged for approximately 1/4 mile wile I attempted to maneuver across three lanes of traffic to the breakdown lane. This created a hole in the tank as it was dragged against the pavement. I had just filled the tank and all 25 gallons was lost on the side of the highway. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and I am waiting for the estimate for repair.

My 2000 Ford f150 had it's gas tank fall from the truck. I just had it repaired at my local repair shop. The gas tank strap was totally rusted thru and broke. I have the strap as evidence, as well as a documented repair by the shop.

While driving home on 5/11/2011 I pulled into a gas station when the strap on my 1998 Ford f-50 broke sending the fuel tank to the ground. Although the tank is dented, it did not leak yet. I notified the dealer brighton Ford and they told me there is no recall as of yet. No words of encouragement to say the least.

The front strap on my F-150 fuel tank has rusted and broke but the back one is still holding, I am waiting on the investigation of this problem to turn it into a recall and I thought I should report this to add to the investigation.
Filling up fuel at gas station when the strap holding the fuel tank was noticed that it has rusted through and broke into 2 pieces. Went to Ford and purchased replacement strap to repair.

I was driving my Ford f150 when suddenly I heard a sound that sounded like something was caught under the truck. Slowly pulled over and found the gas tank was on the ground, held up on one end by a hose. Good thing I was not going fast or on a bumpy road. If the tank had hit a bump it would have been crushes and possibly exploded. Had about a half tank of gas. Repairs are estimated at $270 so far.

I just looked out at my 1998 Ford f150 in the driveway and my gas tank is on the ground. Thank god is was not out driving when this happened.
