Ford F-250 owners have reported 8 problems related to accelerator stuck (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving on the freeway the accelerator got stuck causing us to have an accident. As the truck increased in speed my husband stomped on the break and the truck was only gaining speed. We placed the truck on park and the truck eventually came to a stop causing the truck an immediate stop and forced us down a hill. The truck was totaled because we were pulling a 5th wheel.

While driving on a local highway at approximately 60mph, the truck instantly "took off", the tachometer went to between 5500 & 6000 rpm, and speed increased tremendously to almost 90mph. I tapped on the accelerator pedal and the brake to try to interrupt what was occurring. I placed the vehicle in neutral, where the rpms dropped to 3000. I turned the truck off in hopes of resetting whatever had just occurred. When I started the truck back up, it immediately began doing what it was doing before. I placed the truck into "drive" and attempted to get out of the roadway. At this time, everything returned to "normal". I took the truck to the local dealership (university Ford, durham nc). They determined within 40 minutes that it was the floor mat. However, I have tried for more than an hour today to recreate a floor mat accelerator sticking without success. I have also been unable to recreate the maximum rpms that I experienced with my foot in a normal driving position. This is the first and only occurrence, but I do not agree that it was a floor mat problem or that my issue was taken seriously. The service rep (kenneth) advised that the truck did not provide any computer codes indicating a problem, so there was definitely nothing wrong with the truck other than the floor mat being out of position.

The contact owns a 2006 Ford f250 sd diesel. The contact was braking from approximately 20-30 mph for a traffic stop when the accelerator pedal became stuck in the open throttle position by the floor mat. The vehicle did not stop and proceeded through an intersection as the contact attempted to remove the floor mat while the vehicle was still in motion. The contact was able to dislodge the floor mat, which was trapped under the brake and accelerator pedals, and the vehicle resumed normal operation. The contact stated that he drilled a hole in the clip that held the floor mat in place to correct the failure. The failure did not recur. The vehicle was never taken to the dealer or local mechanic for the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage was 43,000. Updated 04/07/lj
the consumer stated braking was ineffective when the accelerator pedal was stuck under the floor mat. Updated 04/28/11.

My 2008 Ford F-250 super duty has a gas pedal that sticks to the floor making you go full throttle. This has happened so often that I am used to throwing the truck into neutral to stop from hitting people and then kicking the gas pedal until it releases. The dealership says they find nothing wrong that they can fix, they think the carpeting is catching the pedal.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford f250 super duty diesel. While passing another vehicle the vehicle's accelerator became stuck and a loud noise was heard from under the hood. The vehicle then suddenly stopped and then it stopped accelerating. While driving further, the consumer tried to speed up the vehicle to see if this would happen again and it did. It popped and then vehicle stopped accelerating. This would happen at speeds around 40-55 mph. The dealership checked the codes, but could not find any codes for the problem. The mechanic took it home over night and nothing happened while he was driving it. Since they could not duplicate the problem they told the consumer to come and pick up the truck. The consumers foot was not on the accelerator pedal. The consumer held down the brake pedal to try to hold the vehicle in place, the loud noise was heard. The consumer experienced unwanted acceleration.

While depressing the brake pedal accelerator pedal stuck. This caused the rpms to race at a high rate. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
While driving at any speed the accelerator pedal sticks intermittently. Dealer inspected the problem on several occasions, but was unable to solve the problem. This problem occurred about once every 100 miles. About 30% of the time when letting off the accelerator, the engine fails to decrease rpm's within 5 or 5 seconds. About 10% of the time the engine would increase rpm's, usually 100 to 250 rpm, but occasionally up to 600 rpm's.
On februaary 3, 2001 my wife was pulling into the customer pickup area of sears in amarillo, texas as she pulled up to the pickup area and removed her foot from the accelerator to apply the brakes, the accelerator stuck and our pickup truck rammed the backend of another pickup truck in from her. She shifted to revers, the engine still running at a rapid speed, to back away from the vehicle that she had rammed. Since the engine ws running at a high speed, our vehicle raced backward. In order to keep from backing tnto someone behindher, she then shifted into forward gear and rammed the pickup in front of her again. All of this time the rear tires were spinning and smoking. After she rammed the pickup the second time, she turned the ignition off to stop the crazy situation. Had she known, of course, that the throttle was going to stay engaged at high speed, she would have killed the engine earlier. The combination of anti-lock brakes and an uncontrollable throttle is a recipe for disastor.
