1 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2023 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 09/16/2025

On September 16, 2025, while driving my 2023 Ford F-250 super duty at approximately 65 mph with cruise control engaged, I pressed the brake pedal to disengage cruise. The cruise control did not disengage. I pressed the brake pedal harder, but the truck did not slow down and maintained speed. There was no abs activation sound or sensation, and no skid marks were left on the roadway. I struck the rear of a tractor trailer because the vehicle failed to slow down or cancel cruise control. In addition, the airbags did not deploy during the collision. This appears to be a failure of the brake pedal input/cruise disengagement system, braking system, and potentially the airbag system. This is a severe safety defect that could result in serious injury or death.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/24/2023

December 24th at approximately 1100 hr. Driving normally on the garden state parkway southbound approaching exit 98. The vehicle instantaneously began to shake out of control. I was able to keep the vehicle in the travel lane and was able to pull over to the shoulder. I vehicle pulled over to see if I was ok and explained the truck was front tires shaking violently. I did a pulmonary check under the vehicle any everything looked in order. I followed up with a local mechanic who informed me that this was a common issue with these vehicles that was called the "Ford death wobble" and suggested that I take it to a specialist who deals with the suspension. I followed up with r&h spring and truck repair, 4806 w hurley pond rd, wall township, NJ 07719. R&h is familiar with the issue and the vehicle is currently scheduled to be diagnosed. The recommendation is to change most of the front end because no one issues causes this to happen. The vehicle has less that 44, 000 miles on it and clearly a design issue. I have been in law enforcement for 30 years and have never experienced anything like this. I have been trained in all types of advanced driving course throughout those years. Fortunately I was driving at the time rather a less experienced driver. I am not requesting anything other than the issue be addressed to protect the public. Unfortunately if not addressed loss of life will occur. Respectfully, andrew huisman I am not requsting anything other than that.

Failure Date: 09/05/2023

Cruise control switch began smoking, disconnected it and took it to awesome Ford of chehalis, wa for recall service sometime in June or July. Service tech found that brake fluid had wicked its way up electrical harness into cruise control servo, necessitating replacement in order to complete recall service. Fomoco has been unable/unwilling to replace cruise control servo and is instead requiring that I pull one from a wrecking yard in order to complete recall service.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2022 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/29/2023

I live in a mountain area, many steep hills. When driving down a steep windy road (speed under 30 mph) I use the exhaust brake so I don't have to ride my brakes. However, the exhaust brake keeps going off and on. Worse yet the engine throttles up increasing speed. I have to then press my brake peddle to slow the truck down. Once I release the brake the truck repeats the same process of speeding up. If I turn off the exhaust brake the issue goes away but then I need to ride the brake. If I am on a steep straight road going over 40 mph the exhaust brake works like it is supposed to. Another issue of safety is when approaching a stop the engine rpm will not drop below 1200 rpm allowing the truck to slow down unless I push the brake harder then normal. This also happens when driving in a parking lot. The engine will stay at high idle moving the truck to fact in a parking lot situation. These issues are very consistent not just one in a while. I have had the truck into Ford and they say the computer checks out ok. I showed Ford the high idle issue in their own parking lot. They just tell me they can't find the problem. I am not confident that Ford will fix this very unsafe problem. I have now found another person with a 2021 f250 with the same issues. She said Ford will not help her either. I have checked on a few internet forums and see that other have reported the same issues. This is a serious safety issue and need to be addressed. I need to e.

Failure Date: 12/27/2022

When I drove over 50mph and hit any bump the front of the truck shakes wildly. Online says death wobble. This has been going on for 4 months. When taking my children to school 20+ miles away on the highway this has happened several times to and from school on the same day. Other vehicles move out of my line to avoid me while I slow the truck to under 45 mph. They are scared and nervous about getting to school safely. My mother and wife refuse to drive the truck after experiencing this while driving. The fuel injector now also has a problem. The truck is going in to be serviced for the failing fuel injector and death wobble hopefully today if waldorf MD Ford has openings I am awaiting a call back. It has not been inspected yet only diagnostic at autozone showing the fuel injector error code. No warning was given prior to this happening, the truck was riding smoothly, hit a bump in the highway and went crazy. Then it did it again and again and again.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/16/2022

Truck randomly has the notorious death wobble when going over bumps. It shakes violently and I have to slow down or stop. Tried to have it diagnosed by mechanic several times with no outcome, this is when I researched and found out a lot of Ford trucks have this issue. Is it a severe safety issue and with the outrageous price of trucks, I can not buy a new one. Ford should have recalled this a long time ago.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/25/2021

Speed control: during night driving on 11/25/2021 at 65 mpg on I-80, I released my foot from the accelerator to slowdown, but the F-250 failed to slow down. Upon applying the brakes, the truck slowed (a message on the dash stated I applied the brakes), but, upon releasing the brakes, the truck accelerated. I repeated the braking solution, until I found a safe pullover. I shut the truck off & put the headlights to off from auto. Problem did not repeat, but the blind spot, cross traffic, & airbag faults continued as long as I had the headlights on. On 11/26/2021, I left a message with all american Ford, paramus, NJ, service drive manager. This was a very dangerous driving situation!. Note: on 10/26/2021 the 2021 F-250 began displaying errors, as logged on Ford app display center; “blind spot detection with cross traffic” (control mod comm prob), followed by “restraints indicator lamp warning” (fault with pass airbag deactivation indicator) – this is dangerous, because it indicated that the passenger side air bag is off!! since 10/26/2021, besides the faults, the ac would just shut off, front driver & passenger side windows would not roll down/up, automatic high beams failed, ac temp & radio controls were inoperable. Automatic deployment of running boards failed. Hand touch locking & unlocking failed, thus the push button tailgate release failed. I took the F-250 to tomball Ford, TX for repair. They noticed that the right rear upper portion of the taillight was cracked. Stated this was probably the issue, given the blind spot indicator module was located within the taillight assembly. I paid $1,000+ to replace, then left for NJ & the faults & other issues continued. I deduced through trial & error, that the faults & issues only occurred when the headlights were on!.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 07/26/2021

I was driving 60 miles an hour and I hit a pot hole and the truck went into a “death wobble”. It started to shake extremely violently that I thought I was going to crash and die. My arms hurt so bad from trying to hold on to the steering wheel for dear life. I managed to come to a complete stop but not before I almost shit my pants from fear.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/22/2021

While driving on the freeway the truck just started violently shaking uncontrollably. The only way to stop it was to reduce the speed and to try and exit the freeway safely. The 1st time this happened was in may 2021 and since than it has happened about a dozen times. I have been replacing parts left and right trying to fix the issue, but each time we replace what we think is causing the problem it happens again. While driving to PA for work this weekend (July 22nd-july25th, 2021) it happened 3 separate times, it's very unsafe and scary as hell, when it happens. So we googled "f250's shaking violently" and was amazed at what popped up. The "Ford death wobble", that describes what happened to us to a t. I can't believe Ford hasn't issued a recall for this, knowing all the facts. If possible when we replace parts on our car, it's with Ford dealer ship replacement parts.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 04/22/2021

Hitting a bump at highway speed (55+ mph) causes the front end to shake violently as if the front tire has blown. Steering becomes difficult as the front end shutters. Slowing well below highway speed brings it back to a controllable state (had to pull over and completely stop once). Effect is worse as speed increases, above 70 mph is nearly unrecoverable.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/24/2021

Vehicle was purchased from priorty Ford in norfolk, va on Sunday March 21st 2021. Incident #1 March 22nd 2021: front driver's tire completely blew on highway en route to tennesse an hour and a half out of gatlinburg, TN. Speedometer was also not functioning properly prior to saying we were driving a faster than actual mph (confirmed while using gps). Spare tire was put in place of blown out tire, changed spark plug wire (which didn't repair ticking noise per mechanic) mechanic also said we would be good to go with spare tire. Incident #2 March 24th 2021: while en route to next destination (new orleans, la) tred came off rear drivers side tire causing truck to go out of control on I-59 near birmingham, al. Vehicle spun into grass median onto opposite side of interstate and was no longer drivable. A police report was made and truck was towed. 29 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/10/2021

Third incident of violent shaking of steering wheel and entire truck while driving approximately 60-70 mph. All three occurrences happened on the highway after going over relatively small bumps in the road, perhaps 2-3 bumps, one right after the other. I was driving the vehicle during 2 of those incidences. My wife was driving during the most recent one yesterday (3/11/2021) while I was in the passenger seat. She no longer wants to drive the truck and does not want me driving it either. I have also had a handful of situations where it will begin just slightly and I was able to immediately slow down and it would go away. However, if there are multiple bumps it seems to happen with almost 100% predictability. I am a prior federal agent and have been trained for tactical driving at various speeds. With that said, the shaking and loss of control experienced on a roughly $75k vehicle that is around a year old is not only ridiculous from a product stand point, but also, and more importantly, in terms of passenger safety. Our children were with us on 2 of these occasions. This is not a simple rattling, or shaking. I have never experienced this in any other vehicle I have driven and it is a violent wobbling of the entire truck, not just the steering wheel. This is not an exaggeration and is a significant problem and also a safety issue for other vehicles nearby. In one incident the driver of another vehicle to my left was glancing over at me as I slowed down during the violent shaking back and forth. The driver also had a very concerned look and expression of panic, undoubtedly wondering why a new truck would be wobbling uncontrollably at high speed down a freeway. Trucks in particular should be able to handle bumps in the road and are generally considered to be more rugged than other vehicles. The fact that the problem seizes after stopping the vehicle is also puzzling.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/01/2021

On numerous occasions when trying to accelerate to merge into traffic, the throttle does not respond to the request for multiple seconds, then power is returned and truck lunges. This has caused merging traffic to not understand my intention and they overcompensate. This also happens when trying to overcome another vehicle, which could lead to inability and raises risk of not having enough anticipated lead time to overcome other vehicle.

31 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/25/2021

Truck seems to have a death wobbke at about 70 miles an hour when I hit a over pass joint in the road or any slight bump while driving Ford has replace the dampner 4 times now but the problem keeps coming back and now it can be felt in the breaking of the truck when stopping to abruptly!.

32 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/21/2021

Vehicle demonstrates repeatable uncommanded acceleration when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Also demonstrates uncommanded acceleration when engine braking engages. Occasionally vehicle operates at a uncommanded high idle of 1200-1500 rpm vs the normal 600. Mostly happens when slow maneuvering such as in a parking lot or other tight space. It has happened ever since new and it has 5100 miles on it now. Purchasing dealer said it was normal. Others are reporting the same issue in forums online.

33 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/11/2020

I just researched the violent shake of my front end that almost caused me to hit the vehicle next to me. I was driving about 60 mph and drove over a bump on the road and my steering wheel started to shake uncontrollable. I immediately stomped on the brakes to slow down as fast as I could. I was driving in the fast lane and slowed to about 20 mph before the shake stopped. I was lucky not to hit the vehicle next to me since the truck went right of center. The vehicle behind me almost rear ended me since I slowed down so quickly like you were giving someone a brake check behind you. I have owned this 2017 f250 less than a month. If I knew about the death wobble I would have never purchased this vehicle. I am now seriously concerned to drive this truck and now I can not allow my 17 yr old son drive it if needed. I can't believe there are over 1,200 complaints for the same issue and Ford has not done anything about the problem. This is my 6th Ford truck but first f250 and my last. I will most likely go to GMC or Dodge for a 2500 series truck. I travel for work and this problem really worries me to drive at 70/75 miles per hour on the freeway. I believe at the higher speeds it is a good chance loss of control will happen if the death wobble occurs. These trucks cost a lot of money and no one should ever have to drive a unsafe vehicle. If I could join the joint law suit against Ford I would. Maybe another group of f250 & f350 owners can start a class action suit as well against Ford. It will be a very sad day when we all find out a death has occurred and could have been prevented with a recall. If you google death wobble you will not purchase a f250 or f350. I really hope Ford takes care of this since I really like the look of the truck.

34 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/04/2020

Death wobble, truck violently shakes and I loose control of steering at all speeds especially at 50 mph or more. I can correct if I turn steering wheel slightly however this is very dangerous on the highway.

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

Frequently application of acceleration results in no response from vehicle. When making turns into traffic and acceleration is needed to avoid collision the truck will not respond to throttle input. This has resulted in many near miss situations.
