2 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2008 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/05/2010

My husband woke up and went out to start his truck so it would be warm for our 1-yr old twin babies to get in the car. When he went to put the babies in the back seat, the rear passenger window was blown out from the inside out; the glass looked bubbled. He immediately took the car to the glass shop and was advised that because Ford doesn't use the proper seal on it's rear windows that this can occasionally happen. The window blew up from the heat inside the car. . . It's 30 degrees here this morning. We then took the vehicle that is still under warranty to our local Ford dealership and we were advised that it's not covered under warranty. So I'm looking at $800 for a whole entire back window that has to be replaced. This concerns me as if one of my babies was in the car when this happened, we would have some serious health issues. . . . This is a huge safety concern. Because of their faulty seal, our window exploded.

3 Side/rear Glass problem of the 1999 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 08/27/2008

The windshield on my 1999 f250 superduty leaks when it is raining. The problem has existed to a minor extent for several years, however, until recently the problem was not bad enough that I felt it needed repair. I first noticed the problem shortly after the warranty on the truck expired. Last week during a rain storm it was obvious that something needed to be done. I took the truck to a local glass repair shop, binswanger, in fort worth. The repair technician told me that this was a common problem with Ford f250's that he has seen many times and that it was more than just a leak. He said that the windshield was never secured properly from the factory and may come off the truck. The technician explained that the adhesive was bonded to the windshield and the paint but that the paint came loose from the metal around the windshield. So, it appears that I am simply fortunate that nothing catastrophic happened over the last 9 years while I have been driving the truck. I would like Ford to fix the problem.

While driving the F-250 on a rural expressway at approximately 75 mph the drivers side window imploded into the vehicle with no apparent prior impact to the glass. The outside temperature at the time was around 17 degrees f and the interior of the vehicle was approximately 73 degrees f. Driver was hit with shattered glass but no major cuts occurred. The window was not covered by warranty and the owner had to pay for replacement.

6 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2004 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/01/2004

The vehicle shook all over the road and it misfired. It vibrated and rumbled. It was not a problem due to the balancing or alignment. It was something within the engine. Took the vehicle to the dealer, and the problem was still not fixed. Also, had a brake rotor problem. Took the vehicle three different times for the rotors. Had to pay out of pocket to have the brakes fixed. These problems started on March 1, 2004. The back window was leaking water. Took vehicle to the dealer, and that was not fixed. The consumer filed a lemon law complaint.

10 Side/rear Glass problem of the 1998 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/20/1998

Have had 4 failures in the rear suspension system. First time, the traction bars were making a horrible metal-metal creaking/grinding noise; traction bars were replaced. Second time the entire bracket bolted to the frame came loose, sliding and banging around on the frame; tractions bars, traction bar brackets, and traction bar bolts all replaced. Third time air spring (air ride suspension) leaked down and caused the truck to pull to one side (truck was not level; driver's side rear rode very low, passenger side front rode very high); air spring was replaced. Fourth time the traction bar (passenger side) broke; service center not open, plan on taking it in tomorrow. Rear window seal has been 'fixed' twice, yet continues to leak water into the cab, last time shorting out some aftermarket electronics behind the rear seat. Braking at highway speed (50-75) results in a front-end vibration, rotors were turned by the dealer recently due to a front disc brake problem that resulted in the inside pad wearing down to bare metal and much grinding (wear indicators are on the outside pad and were not engaged (squeaking); so they were not indicating pads needed replacement). The other side pads were worn non-parallel to the pad backing (pad was thicker on one edge than the other).
