Ford F-250 owners have reported 54 problems related to wiper (under the visibility category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Ford F-250 based on all problems reported for the F-250.
The failure of the apim has completely disabled the rearview backup camera, which is a federally mandated safety feature (fmvss no. 111). Operating a heavy-duty F-250 without a functional backup camera creates a significant blind-spot hazard and an immediate safety risk to pedestrians and property. King Ford has confirmed the failure. Service director jamie churchwell has acknowledged the damage as "consequential damage" resulting directly from the attempted software update for safety recall 22s35. It is currently being reviewed by the Ford district parts and service manager (as reported by the dealer) for a "related damage" warranty claim . The vehicle’s screen and backup camera were functioning perfectly prior to the recall service. The failure occurred at the dealership during the application of the manufacturer’s recall software update.

Rear camera displays a black distorted image for roughly 5 seconds, then a completely black screen meanwhile instructing to contact dealer. Dealer says that even though Ford announced a 15 year extended warranty, it is not attached to any vins. Therefore they will not honor their statement from the chief operating officer on October 22, 2025 on the Ford website. Dealer at metro Ford advised me there was no way possible to escalate case, or send an email for guidance on the issue. Refused.

Rear view camera system is intermittent and the dealer has been unable to resolve the issue. This is a large vehicle and it is very dangerous to back up without this camera working.

Rear window exploded when defroster button pushed after 30 seconds.
There was no accident, I am experiencing the same issue with my Ford super duty that was in a recall 22s51 but my VIN was not included in the recall. The back up camera on my truck is so cloudy you can barely see, Ford states they will not take of this as well as the dealership I bought the truck from.

My reverse camera (the bed camera) quits working at random times. Sometimes it works fine. Other times it shows nothing but a white static looking screen and sometimes the button just doesn’t respond at all when I try to select the bed camera option.
Component: battery junction box then affecting other parts. Water intrusion into battery junction box affecting and shorting out other components. Items shorted out due to water in battery junction box include: battery junction box itself, left rear blind spot monitor, left rear brake light, drivers seat control (shorted all seat heated components, all lumbar and massaging components fully inflated and would not deflate) , windshield wiper motor shorted and stopped working, rain sensor stopped working. Both tow mirrors would randomly deploy to the furthest out position. Main safety concerns were windshield wiper motor stopped working and seat randomly adjusting, inflating, deflating. Vehicle is currently at for dealership ( sam packs 5 star Ford lewisville TX) who has diagnosed the issues. The only warning lamp was for the driver side blis when the incident would occur.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 mph in heavy rain, the windshield wipers were activated however, the driver’s side wiper arm failed to raise up high enough to clear the driver’s side windshield. The contact stated that that the wiper arm was going back to the start position with force. The contact stated that the wiper arm was striking the bottom of the windshield with a loud cracking sound. The contact stated that the driver's side wiper arm was also impeding the function of the passenger side wiper arm. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 22v250000 (visibility). The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.
The rearview camera is so cloudy you can barely see what's behind you.

I was driving down I-64 and the sunroof suddenly exploded with a bang that sounded like a shotgun going off. Subsequently, my family and I were showered with glass pellets. Nothing hit this roof. The roof simply exploded. It caused me to swerve and almost hit the car next to me and cars behind me were swerving to avoid glass pellets that were blowing off the top of the truck. My wife and I both experienced superficial cuts to our fingers and my wife cut her toe cleaning up the glass. This is a safety issue in every way. Ford refused to stand behind the repair and I was forced to pay for the repair.
I want to file a formal complaint against sunland Ford in victorville California about not remedying this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner. A letter was sent out to me on may of 2022 regarding this recall and I have contacted sunland Ford several times to get this recall resolved and here we are almost a year later and it still hasn't been fixed. I was in snowy conditions in montana in March and I just about wrecked because of the became inoperable for a short period of time so I need someone to please get sunland Ford to hurry up and get this fixed ASAP.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the windshield wipers were activated, and the windshield wipers then became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the windshield wiper motor needed to be replaced. The dealer referenced recalls for the failure however, the VIN nor the year, make, or model vehicle was included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 83,000.
Wiper blade arm has became inoperable it separates from the vehicle there fore making it difficult to see in rain which I get a lot of in my area.

Front camera is cloudy just like the rear camera is. Rear camera is recalled but the front camera is not.
Driven on freeway hit 65 speed start shaking every time. I have to slow down.
Front camera, like the rear camera which was recently recalled, has lost clear visibility. It has a very bright white haze which eliminates visibility from the front camera. It poses a safety hazard in parking lots, especially if a small child were to walk in front of the truck. The truck is available for inspection anytime. There has been no specific incident causing injury at this time. However, it would be nice to use the front camera as intended to prevent any incident in the future.
Other electrical malfunctions occuring, windshield wipers won't turn off.
Mine and my families saftey was at risk when the a/c failed to run during a trip home. It was a damp rainy day and the windshield completely fogged over on the inside. Running heat and opening windows would not clear the visibly issue. There was 0% visibility. I had to drive with my head out the window to slow to a stop and wait hours before the a/c resumed working. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? the problem has been reproduced every time I drive the truck and has been verified and attempted service by two separate Ford dealers. The truck was with the first dealer for 1. 5 months. I am in communication with the second dealer now. This was a Ford buy-back vehicle. The claim was that the vehicle was overheating and that a fan shroud was replaced to fix the issue. I am skeptical that there wasn't more to the issue that wasn't resolved. No warning prior to failure. July 2022 is when the problem caused me issue. I do believe the issue was there since I purchased the vehicle used in August 2021, but the vehicle was not driven much so it never affected me.
I have tried multiple times to get autonaton Ford in union city georgia to rectify these issues. They have claimed they don't have an autobody shop to complete the required repairs. At one point, they had my vehicle for almost 2 weeks and they still did not complete the repairs.
Windshield wipers do not activate when turned on. Rain sensing option is turned off. This is my only vehicle to get to work besides my wife's car, but she needs hers to get to work as she is in the medical field. There wasn't any warning, I was driving west into the sun when I tried to clean my windshield by activating the windshield wiper spray and the wipers never came on. I had to stick my head out the driver side window to see, as my view was completely blocked by the wiper fluid and by the sun. This occurred on may 5,2022 at about 7:30pm. I checked the wipers once when I picked up the vehicle and they did work, but on may 5, 2022 is when I discovered they didn't. Gene messer Ford in amarillo texas has inspected the vehicle and determined the windshield wiper motor is faulty and needs replaced. I was informed the wiper motor on my f250 is not under the wiper recall that was just issued, but the repair will be covered under warranty if the part was available. Part # hc3z17508a, is backordered with no estimated availability. After gene messer Ford made the diagnosis, I had to drive my vehicle in rain without operational wipers 3 or 4 days later. I used rain x on my windshield to help with visibility. I ordered the f250 from oxmoor Ford in louisville kentucky on November 15, 2021 and it was shipped to gene messer Ford in amarillo. The f250 was built on March 28, 2022 and arrived to gene messer on 4/22/2022. I picked the vehicle up on 4/26/2022. On may 16, 2022 I emailed doug kimmons (dkimmons@oxmoorautogroup. Com) in oxmoor Ford to inform him of the situation.
Both woodruff keys have fallen out of the windshield wiper arms where they attach to the wiper linkage. Without the woodruff keys in place during operation, the windshield wipers easily detach from the wiper linkage. This causes an immediate loss of visibility and dramatically increases the likelihood of an accident or possibly a fatality involving both the driver & any passengers in the vehicle, and also endangers surrounding vehicles as well. Ford has known about the issue since early 2022 and a recall notice was sent out in early 2022 as well. Now that 2023 is upon us, Ford has done nothing to repair the vehicles as part of this recall. How many deaths does it take for the nhsta to enforce manufacturer recall repairs within acceptable timelines ?.
On 4/24/2022, during a snow storm the passenger side wiper failed to work and came disconnected from the vehicle. The drivers side wiper stopped working and would not return to the downward (parked) position. Both wiper arms are stripped and non-functional. I was forced to wait for two days for weather/roads to clear before I could leave for my destination, due to the non-functioning wipers and weather. I tried to order new wiper arms from on-line dealers and third party dealers only to have all orders canceled as that there are no parts available, and that new availability was unknown. While in search of these parts, I found that there is a Ford recall on this issue, safety notice #22s26 / natsa #22v250. On 5/18/2022 I went to a Ford dealer for repairs and was told there are no parts, with no known time of receiving such parts. On 6/10/2022 I returned to the dealer and was told the same information, no parts. On 6/14/2022 I called Ford and was given a case number, and informed that the arrival of any new replacement parts was still unknown. The truck is obviously not safe to drive in, or when inclement weather is advised and/or happening. I have had to pull off the road and wait out rain storms and fog as well. Ford has made no offer of reimbursement due to lost use of this vehicle , or offered to sponser a loaner truck for use while waiting for the the repairs/parts to come available. At best, Ford has offered to try and escalate my request for replacement parts, which to date is still unknown, and parts are still unavailable. . . . Which leaves me with a, new 2020 F-250 that is, and has been, unsafe drive since April of this year (which, by the way, I pay almost $1000. 00 per month in a loan payment on. ).
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-250. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 22v250000 (visibility) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed the windshield wipers detached from the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
We turned on our rear window defrost for the 1st time since we live in phoenix and had no real use for it. Within 2 minutes the whole rear window shattered dropping glass inside and outside the cab. My son was in the back seat. There was no warning that we are aware of. I have picture of the incident I can send. I need to get it replaced ASAP so inspection would have to occur within the next 24 hours. It has not yep been inspected by insurance or dealership. Insurance is replacing the glass tomorrow.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 22v644000(back over prevention); however, the parts for the recall were unavailable. The dealer was contacted about the recall and they confirmed that parts remained unavailable for the recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that his image on his rearview camera was foggy while in use. The failure mileage was 146,000. VIN tool confirms parts not yet available.
My truck was parked last night and I came out to it the morning and my rear heated sliding glass window was shattered.
Rear sliding window shattered after remote starting vehicle which turns on rear defroster. Glass exploded into cab covering occupants in glass.
The driver and passenger seat massage do not work properly, the lumbar and seat portion work intermittently and for a shorter duration than twenty minutes (2017 Ford f250 platinum). The vehicle wiper blade rate of action randomly increases and decreases on it's own. I was told today by the Ford dealership in redding, California that a technical service bulletin had been issued for the seat massage problem, but that Ford would not correct the problem unless I pay $800. 00 for this repair. If Ford is aware that the vehicle seats have this issue and know how to correct it, why am I being charged to correct it and make it right?.
We were driving down the highway going 60mph. All of a sudden there was a loud bang and the rear sliding window exploded inside of the cab. We had our dogs with us lying in the back the glass flew into the back and even down our clothes. Nothing hit the truck. We immediately pulled over and got as much glass out of the car. It landed everywhere. It was very scary. The photo below is of the passenger side front seat. The glass blew down my shirt.
The sunroof tracks crack and break, thus making the sunroof inoperable and water will leak when it doesn't seal. They sent out a safety alert or something along those lines. Basically if your in the 36k mile period they will fix. But if you have over(I had 42k) they offer a two thousand dollar repair. I have talked to a lot of people and 50% have had sunroof issues. I took my complaint to Ford and was told keep my repair receipt in case they make it a recall.
While driving at around 45mpg I heard a very loud sound like a gunshot or a huge rock hitting my truck. When it was safe I pulled over to check for any damages. None where observed. The next day I heard wind noise and no windows open. I started to open the sunroof and heard glass breaking. I got home and looked on roof and saw a huge hole in panoramic portion of sunroof and 1000's of pieces of glass being held up by liner. No vandalism or accident caused this. If anyone in backseat they could have suffered considerable cuts.
Turned on rear window defroster this morning while parked in my driveway. Something caught fire and shattered my rear window.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the button for the panel roof was depressed. While the panel roof was sliding backwards, the mechanism fractured and the sliding roof glass came off the track. The vehicle was taken to stanley Ford gilmer, 622 us hwy 271 n, gilmer, TX 75644, (903) 843-2521, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the plastic tracks fractured. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 31000. The VIN was not available. Ah.

Driving down the road when all of the sudden the drivers side window exploded all over the inside of my truck. It exploded so hard (like a shotgun blast). It threw glass all over the inside of the truck, all over myself. Once I stopped, I noticed that I had blood on my seat. The glass actually was stuck in my skin on my elbow. It took almost 10 minutes to get it out of my hair. There were no other vehicles on the road or going by me to throw any debris at the window. I have photos if needed.
