Ford F-350 owners have reported 10 problems related to brake disc pads (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The vehicle shook at 65 mph and shimmied when the brakes were applied. We first had tire rotated and balanced and a front end alignment with the replacement of right side ball joints. It did not correct the problem. When we returned the vehicle to the dealer for further repair, the dealer took us back to look at the rear brakes. The backing plates had failed due to rust and the pins for the parking brake shoes had pulled through. The dealer replaced both rotors, both brake shoes, the backing plates and the pads for the disk brakes.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-350 hd. The contact stated that while having an oil change the mechanic noticed the rear brakes on the passenger side were metal on metal. The dealer stated that there have been problems with the calibers going bad and causing the brake pads and routers to fail as well. The dealer replaced the calibers under warranty, but would not replace other parts of the brake system. The contact feels there is a defect with the calibers used on the vehicle. The VIN was not accepted at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage and current mileages was 37000.

The contact owns a 1999 Ford F-350 superduty. While driving 35 mph, the contact applied the brakes to slow down and the front brake pads fell off the vehicle. The contact shifted into neutral and rubbed the curb so that the vehicle would stop. The contact called the authorized dealer regarding the failure and the dealer stated that the pads fell off because the rotors were too thin. The brake pads were replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

I purchased a 2005 Ford F-350 super duty truck in July of 2005. On July 4 of this year I started to experience problems with the brakes hanging, causing the brakes to overheat and smell, also causing undo strain on the drive line on the truck. The problem has occurred several times and have returned to the dealer to have it fixed every time,(only to have it come back later on), one time at a dealer when I was out of state. That dealer stated that the Ford f250 next to mine in the shop had the same problem. My dealer has been in contact with Ford motor company about this, as I have been to, without satisfaction on what Ford is going to do. I feel this problem is now a safety issue.

: the contact stated the brake pedal goes to the floor when depressed and takes too long to stop the vehicle. When towing a trailer, weighing 14,000 pounds, the vehicle will not stop at a red light. This vehicle should be able to tow 15,000 pounds according to the owner's manual. Three weeks after purchase, the contact was going to replace the brake pads, but could not get the tire off. An independent repair shop stated the pads did not need to be replaced and the vehicle should be taken to the dealership. The dealership stated the vehicle is operating correctly. The contact had the brake pads, pedal, and fluid replaced in an effort to remedy the problem.

While breaking the vehicle sometimes pulls to the right or left, sometimes to the point that the vehicle is almost impossible to control, other times we get a server vibration while breaking again it is almost inpossible to control,we are geting only about 11000 miles out of a set of breaks, this unit is an ambulanceand although Ford has replaced the break pads three times and the rotors twice in 33,000 miles this doe's not resolve the problem, now that the warranty will soon end they are now telling us that it is the ambulance manufacture problem. They still have not resolved the problem of why are we having all these problem they just keep changing parts. We all so have a 1999 that is almost a twin to this one but we have no breaking problems and are geting about 35,000 out of a set of breaks.
