2 Brakes Failed problem of the 2015 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

The contact owns a 2015 fifth wheel solitude (na) travel trailer being hauled by a 2015 Ford F-350. The contact stated that there was a premature failure with the wires associated with the brake system. While braking, the brake pedal was difficult to apply and the contact had to use excessive force. The repair shop diagnosed that the wires ran through the middle of the axle, and the coating was worn and caused a short with the wires, which caused the brake failure. The mechanic rewired the wires to the back side of the axle, clamped the wires on the outside, and repaired the travel trailer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no repair recommendation as well as no solution to ensure that the repairs were sufficient. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.

3 Brakes Failed problem of the 2014 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 04/25/2015

Had a loaded trailer of about 10,000 lbs had truck in four wheel drive, had both feet on brake. Truck was stopped on a decline. Shifted truck to reverse and the brakes failed. The trailer brakes also went out. Truck went over a hill pushed by the weight of the trailer. I believe this has happened 2 other times but one time I thought it was ice and the other it was new and I thought it was my error. Ford refuses to acknowledge the defect unless they can duplicate it.

6 Brakes Failed problem of the 1999 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 08/16/2007

I was traveling on the expressway with my 99 Ford F-350 pulling a 5th wheel trailer when the front driver's side tire blew out. As I wrestled the truck to the shoulder, the brakes completely failed. As far as I could tell, even the electronic brakes on the trailer weren't helping to stop me as I drifted to a stop on the shoulder. The tire tread when it shredded apparently blew out a vacuum hose and there may have been some other connector or line associated with the abs system that was affected - but I think it was just the vacuum hose. The mechanic who got us back on the road said that when the hose went out, the abs system thought the tire was locked so it shut off the brakes - apparently all of them. If I had been in city traffic, we'd have plowed into vehicles in front of us potentially resulting in death or severe injury for someone. Trying to remember to downshift or hit the parking brake while wrestling a truck pulling a trailer that is riding on the front wheel rim and trying to pull back into traffic is rather challenging. I've lost a lot of confidence in abs and wonder if this was an isolated incident, something associated with that particular vehicle or a basic hazard of abs systems that is unknown to the public.

8 Brakes Failed problem of the 2005 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/12/2006

This vehicle has had numerous engine failures which I will list below. I spend alot of time in rural locations between 50 and 100 miles from any service facilities in all kinds of weather. Usually there is not any cell service available. It is only a matter of time before I or someone is stranded in bad weather because of the poor engineering on the 6. 0 liter diesel that Ford installed in my vehicle. This could well be life threatening and lead to death in the future. 6/12/06 turbo failure-covered by warranty by Ford - 20000 miles 7/15/06 recall on computer-covered by warranty by Ford- 21000 miles 4/8/11 egr cooler blew out- out of pocket cost $1703. 46- 90619 miles 8/28/12 injectors failed- out of pocket cost $2178. 09- 110732 miles 8/30/12 rear wheel seal and emergency brake failure- out of pocket cost- $703. 06- 111423 miles 10/12/12 turbo failure again- out of pocket cost $2577. 75- 113473 miles you can see the ongoing theme here and when I talk to Ford they say "sorry but we have no recalls and no customer service help at this time. " they need to take resposibility before something happens and it puts peoples lives at risk. As the owner of this vehicle I would like to be included in any class action lawsuits against Ford for not taking responsibility for the 6. 0 liter engineering disaster that they created. Hopefully someone will make them step up and provide the buyers of these engines the help they need and deserve.

12 Brakes Failed problem of the 2000 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 11/01/2002

Although I have only listed this as 1 instance of failure simply because this poorly designed (dangerous) solution finally cost me getting into an accident. This abs problem has caused me to loose sleep at night since owning this vehicle because of the various times it has failed me! it shouldn't take an einstein to figure out there's something wrong with a brake system that fails when you really need it to work! not only does it fail the brakes, but since the power steering is used to (hydroboost) power the brake system, when the abs unit dumps the fluid to release the brake pressure, you also loose steering ability! I don't know how many people have been killed by this inadequate design. I guess I should count myself lucky that I'm even able to write this, but this system is plainly inadequate and flawed at the design layer. Either someone requires this to be corrected or everyone that drives a vehicle with this type of solution better triple their life insurance and quadruple their liability insurance and attend church services daily in hopes that they survive the experience!!!!!!!!!! OH, maybe I've touched on something there. Do you think the insurance companies mind the prospect of having everyone having to increase their insurance to prepare for the results? dt.

13 Brakes Failed problem of the 1999 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/12/2001

I have had the front brakes replaced 3 times and the rear brakes replaced 2 times. These repairs were all done within the 3 year, 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Soon after the warranty ended, the brakes failed again. I brought the truck to the dealer and they stated the truck was fine. This is in no way a true statement. Each time I have brought the vehicle in for these brake problems, they have replaced the brakes and have agreed there was a problem. The last time they have wanted nothing to do with it. There also was a recall for the rear brakes.
