On 12-24-19 I was driving ~55 mph on a 2 lane road and had an accident occur in front of me in which I had to slam on my brakes to avoid the wreck. My truck slowed but not like it was supposed to and I had to swerve off the shoulder to avoid contact with other vehicles. Death wobble, you hit a small bump or uneven road at 20-75 mph and it shakes violently you have to slow down to 15mph to make it quit. The dealer could not duplicate and said it was tires out of balance, the next time it went in they said it was mud in the wheels. 2nd promblem is the upper oil pan started leaking at 80k , 3rd promblem the stainless steel braded line that goes from master cylinder to abs module ruptured and left me with no brakes . Brake pedal has gone to the floor on several occasions. This has been duplicated by both dealer technican and dealer principal. There is absolutley no resistance when this takes place. The last time the dealer installed a brake master cylinder and within driving it out of the dealership to the gas station beside them, the pedal went to the floor. I have refused to pick the truck up until it is fixed and is currently at the dealer since November 2009.

10 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 2005 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 12/28/2006

While vehicle was parked in my driveway, level ground, pushed on brake pedal to put vehicle in gear. Brake pedal felt spongy, pushed on it again, bang, right to the floor. There the pedal stuck, up against the floorboard. Upon investigation, found that the portion of the master cylinder that the plunger bolts onto, broke away. The plunger bolts to the master cylinder in two places. Both bolt holes broke away from the casting. The casting looks faulty, no fresh break look to it at all. The vehicle has 43000 miles on it. Brakes have not been done yet, still roughly 50% pad wear. More of a daily driver unit, than a heavy puller. I'm just glad that I wasn't driving down the highway or pulling my holiday trailer, when this occured. Who knows what would have happened! I feel this is a major safety issue. Is it a rare case or are there other faulty master cylinders out there. Someone better look into this before there are accidents or even casulties.

18 Brake Master Cylinder problem of the 1999 Ford F-350

There is a problem with braking on the diesel trucks. When appling the brakes in a panic situation and one or both of the rear wheels loose traction, the rabs kicks in and the pedal goes to the floor. This is also accompanied by sudden increase in steering effort at the same time if an attempt is made to steer around an accident situation. These diesel trucks use a hydro boost system run off of the power steering pump for the brakes. There is also a sudden decrease, many times severe, in braking power. When this happens, the only way to regain the brakes is to release them and reapply them, taking great care not to skid one or both of the rear tires. Talking to other owners, it appears to be a design flaw and replacing parts will not repair the situation. The master cylinder and calipers are all working properly and this truck has done it from the day it was new. There have been several instances where I have had to apply the brakes in a panic stop and had one or both of the rear wheels start to skid. The brake pedal then goes to the floor, braking is severely diminished and the ability to stop is virtually non-existent. Only by releasing and re-applying the brakes can braking be restored and it is only through this effort and the experience of years of driving police vehicles that I have been able to avoid several accidents.
