1 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2017 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/11/2021

Turned vehicle to the left on to a main roadway, got speed up to about 40 miles per hour, ran over a small bump/dip in the roadway, steering wheel began to shake uncontrollably. Had to slow to almost a complete stop to bring steering wheel under control and allow vehicle to continue to travel safely.

2 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/04/2021

On two occasions the truck has gotten the shakes and it's hard to control on the road. Steering wheel vibrates bad too. Was going about 50 mph each time. Once down the highway in a construction area and the other time down a county road. I believe it has a death wobble.

3 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 04/12/2021

Driving 55 mph, the truck hit a small bump in the paved road and lost all control of steering and steering wheel was shaking. Once truck came to a near stop I was able to take over steering and the wheel stopped shaking.

4 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2015 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 02/12/2021

When traveling at highway speeds and hit a inconsistent place in the pavement the vehicle gets a death wobble. The steering wheel shakes violently back and forth and the front of the truck bounces on the ground. When the brakes are applied the wobble gets worse so the vehicle has to slow down on its own without applying the brakes. The shaking will stop around 23-28 miles per hour. I have had this happen 6 different times and the vehicle is very hard to keep on the road while it is happening. This is definitely an issue that needs to be addressed. I have slowly been having an ase certified mechanic replacing front end parts to try and fix the problem with no success. I try to avoid driving the truck due to this issue which has happened for the last year. I have videos on my dash camera when this happens. The last time it actually knocked the camera off the window. I know alot of Ford truck people and everyone is having the same issue.

5 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 02/03/2021

I was driving my newly purchased 2019 for f350 super duty which has 22,000 miles, when I hit a small bump on the highway. I was driving at a speed of 55 mph and going straight with not the slightest of turn and within the flow of heavy traffic, when my front tires and steering wheel began to vibrate uncontrollably as I came over the small bump. I was unable to control the heavy truck and was forced to slam on the brakes to keep from swerving into the median or into another car beside me. The concrete truck behind me had to slam on it's brakes as well to prevent from hitting me. I have driven heavy trucks for 25 years and have never felt so out of control. Had my son or daughter been driving the truck there is no doubt they would have wrecked and most definitely hurt the driver in the kia next to me. I have owned 5 Ford trucks and have never had this death wobble occur in those trucks. When I got to my office I looked it up on the internet and saw this is a common problem with Ford f250 and 350's between 2009 and 2019. I called the Ford dealership and they said this was not covered under my Ford factory warranty but that they get 3-4 calls per week about it. I have not modified anything on the vehicle and it remains a stock vehicle. Ford should not allow these trucks to remain on the road. They are a death trap and will cause fatalities if something isn't done about this defect in the steering stabilizer and track bar. I will be selling this vehicle as the repair is over $2,500. Please do something about this. As the enforcer of safety on the roads it is your duty to make Ford recall all 250 and 350's that have these inadequate steering stabilizers and track bars. People will be hurt and killed. The blood will be on your hands of the ntsa and Ford if something isn't done.

6 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2015 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/27/2021

When encountering rough pavement while traveling over 50 miles per hour the front suspension develops a major and uncontrollable vibration. The steering wheel shakes back and forth while the truck feels like it's coming apart. Keeping the vehicle in a lane is very difficult and the only way to get the shaking to stop is to slow the vehicle down to below 25 miles per hour. The truck only has 55,000 miles on it. This first occurred in October of 2020 while merging onto an interstate, then twice again in January of 2021. In researching this symptom I've read about other owners with similar year super duty trucks with the exact same symptom. It is commonly referred to as the death wobble. A service appointment was scheduled with epic Ford in everett washington on February 4th, 2021 to diagnose the problem. This is the dealer who I purchased the truck from. Their tech could not replicate the symptom so I returned to the dealer on February 9th 2021 and took the tech for a drive and was able to recreate the failure. On February 24th 2021 the dealer called to say the truck was ready to pick up but they were not able to fix the death wobble and said I should replace my after market dual steering stabilizer. I wholly disagree that this is at the root of the problem as the aftermarket steering stabilizer is only 3 years old and should only reduce the occurrence of front end wobble, not cause it. Reluctantly, I agreed to replace this part and picked of the vehicle from the dealer on February 25th 2021. There was a general lack of concern for my safety, my family's safety and for the safety of others on the road. I will pursue a repair outside of the dealer's service network. From my research, this is far too common of an issue with these vehicles, people have been injured and Ford should be doing something about the failures before someone looses their life.

7 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2017 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/21/2021

Driving at approx. 65 mph my F-350 4x4's steering wheel began to shake very hard, enough to have a dps state trooper heading in the opposite direction notice. He made a u-turn, caught up to me, put on his lights and stopped me. What I thought was a traffic stop turned out to be a safety check. He told me that he stopped me because he had noticed my wheels wobbling and thought that I was in danger of crashing. I had told the officer that the wobbling stopped once I reduced my speed to about 40 or so. Tires were close to needing changing, I replaced my tires and the problem stopped until recently. It is starting to wobble now and then only after an additional 15,000 miles. This is clearly not a once in a million event, this is something that I have heard many times among other Ford owners to show them we need to be taken care of. My life is worth more than a bad engineering design. Did I buy a $ 73,000. 00 coffin?.

8 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 12/18/2020

My vehicle had approx. 22000 miles on it when it started to develop what is being called the death wobble. This is where the steering wheel shakes terribly when you encounter any bumps on the road. It can shake so violently that it is difficult to control the vehicle. At approx. 27600 miles I took it to power Ford in albuquerque, nm for repair. They were aware of the issue and determined that the steering dampener had failed. There is lots of information on this issue on the web. This design issue exists in all 2006 to 2019 Ford f-250s and F-350s. This issue makes the vehicle unsafe to drive and decreases the mean time between failure of steering components causing owners to incur the expense of replacing failed components at unreasonably short intervals or installing after-market solutions. While Ford may see it as caused by normal wear and tear, the short component lifespan and vehicle control issue indicates a serious design defect which the NHTSA should address.

9 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2017 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 12/13/2020

While driving approximately 70 mph on I-40 eastbound in east tennessee I went through some rough patches and potholes in the roadway. This resulted in my steering wheel begin to shake violently back and forth, making it almost impossible to hold on to and control. Because of the lack of traffic I was able to quickly apply the brakes and once it reduced speed to about 30 to 40, it stopped. During the next 200 miles it occurred 3 more times. Once while driving at 60 mph and going over a rough patch where a bridge and road meet, and two other times due to potholes that I was able to prevent/stop a full blown violent shaking episode by driving slower and being aware of what might happen. Had I been in traffic or anywhere else it might have resulted in an accident.

15 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2017 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 09/22/2020

"death wobble" March 2020 driving down the road (it was a very straight section of road) at about 60 mph the steering wheel began to shake violently, controlling the vehicle was difficult aggressive braking slowed the vehicle and the shaking stopped. The nearest Ford dealer installed a new steering damper following the incident. September 2020 this time I was towing a 39 foot fifth wheel RV. Same violent shaking also at highway speed 70 mph straight road. Again aggressive braking returned control of the vehicle to me. No accident or injuries associated with either incident but it was sure scary! my vehicle has less than 20,000 miles on it.

While driving my Ford f350 approximately 50mph on a state highway, I hit a slight depression in the roadway after crossing a bridge. The vehicle's front end and steering wheel began shaking violently . I had to come to almost a complete stop to make the shaking stop. I believe this to be the problem described as the Ford death wobble. The vehicle had 27800 miles at the time of the incident. I have scheduled an appointment with the dealer for an inspection and repair. I stopped to examine the front of my vehicle, but there was no apparent reason for the incident.

Failure Date: 07/07/2020

I was driving home late one night from work, running about 55-60 and the steering wheel and truck started violently shaking and got worse as I tried to apply brakes. It caused me to run off the side of the road into a farm field(luckily no damage)! so I shut the truck off and checked everything, I thought a wheel was falling off or something but everything was good, so I slowly drove home and would start to feel the steering wheel shake when I would apply brakes but nothing like before.

Failure Date: 05/23/2020

Death wobble! the know problem Ford has with their super duty truck but won't fix! I am a 56 year old woman and was driving on the expressway with my daughter when the death wobble happen. My steering wheels tarted shaking so hard I thought all 6 of my tires had blown. I had no control over my vehicle and than god there was no other car's near me. It is just getting worse now. I hit any little bumps on even the side road and the death wobble happens again. Called my Ford deal and they say no know fix for it. I can bring it in and they can try to replace the staring tracking bar. But don't know if that will fix it. Ford needs to be held responsible and pay for the fix! I am afraid to drive my own vehicle!.

22 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/20/2020

When I hit bumps in the road I get a violent steering wheel shake, known as death wobble. Happens at slow speeds on the windy road I live on, probably going roughly 25-35 mph usually when I hit a bump while turning. I have heard this is a common problem in these vehicles . It seems to be getting worse as time goes on. The vehicle only hads 8500 miles on it and was purchased new from dealer.

24 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2018 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 04/04/2020

On April 4, 2020 while driving on the freeway at the speed limit of 70 mph, I traveled over an overpass that had a small lip type bump. The truck hit the small bump and the steering wheel started shaking violently so that I had trouble holding on to the steering wheel. I immediately applied brake pressure and the truck veered halfway into the lane next to me causing a vehicle to sound its horn and take evasive action. The truck finally settled down at approximately 40 mph as I went halfway off the side of the highway. Many articles in the cab of the truck were dislodged including a coffee cup, reading glasses. This truck has 22,000 miles on it, has had all recommended maintenance done in accordance with the owners manual. This includes tire rotation and regular tire pressure checks. There have been no modifications to this truck, it is exactly as it came from the factory. I am a retired firefighter with decades of emergency vehicle driving to my credit with no accidents. I truly felt in danger and attribute the safe outcome of this episode to my professional emergency vehicle driver training skills.

I was driving on the interstate at about 70 mph when I hit a small pot hole in the road and my truck began to shake uncontrollably. The steering wheel was shaking violently and I could barely hold onto it. I had to immediately try to get out of traffic and pull off the side of the road to get it to stop.

28 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2017 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 02/12/2020

While driving on the interstate I hit an uneven piece of pavement which caused my steering wheel to begin shaking violently. I immediately decelerated in attempt to regain control and maintain lane position. It is a reoccurring problem. Every time I see a bump, pothole, uneven pavement, etc, in my path, I grip the steering wheel as tightly as possible and brace for the worst. I have researched the problem and seems to be a well known and very serious problem among Ford owners. Something need to be done to correct this problem immediately. Sticker price on my truck was 77,250. That's a steep price tag for a truck that is barely driveable. Furthermore, my children ride in that truck. That's unacceptable. Ford needs to be held accountable and made to fix their inferior and dangerous design.

29 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2017 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/31/2020

While driving on interstate @ approximately 70 mph and going straight, I hit a small bump in the road with the left front tire. There were 4 people in the truck and we were pulling a 21 foot boat approximately 4000 pounds. The steering wheel began to shake so I let off of the throttle, the shaking became more violent and began to veer uncontrollably to the left. The shaking was so violent that I could not see clearly and my passengers thought the truck was coming apart. The only recourse in my mind was to jam on the brakes. This did eventually stop the shaking after slowing the vehicle to a speed of less than 30 mph. Fortunately there were no semi's or other vehicles behind us at the time. The stress of the shaking on the steering system has now caused vibrations while traveling at lower speeds. The truck was serviced for a vibration problem on 9/6/2019 with 20512 miles on it. There is now only 23300 miles on the truck.

30 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/30/2020

31 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/24/2020

Brand new truck with 3000 miles on it and the front end is very loose feeling. Lots of steering wheel shaking ( side to side movement) when hitting bumps. Dealer replaced the steering damper and it is slightly better for now. I am worried there is a bigger problem that is creating unwanted wear and tear on the critical steering linkage and it will need to be repaired often to keep it safe. Happens mostly at speeds over 40 miles per hour and worse when hitting bumps on curves like tight interstate on ramps.

32 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2017 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/24/2020

The truck violently shakes and bounces in the front end and steering wheel shakes almost unable to control steering direction. This has happened 2 times in the past month both while driving on 2 different highways after hitting a bump on the highway going straight forward and the other after driving over the metal end dam after the approach slab before a bridge on a gradual left turn in the road sent me in the shoulder. Had to slow to 35mph +\- to regain control and normal operation.

33 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/13/2020

On 1/13/20 while I was driving on the highway the steering wheel began to shake violently causing me to lose control. By the time I got slow down enough to sop I was in the left lane (incoming traffic). Luckily there was no traffic or I wouldn't be able to make this complaint as I would of been hit head on and had no control of the vehicle. My dealer said he had another truck with the same issue and it would take 2 months to get a part to maybe fix it. $65,000 and I have a truck I'm scared to drive. It's a 2019 with 7,000 miles on it. I have a pregnant wife and 3 children. The issues with these trucks are death traps. This truck is basically a one ton wrecking ball that I can lose control of at any minute. It's my only transportation. Something needs to be done about these before someone is killed. My wife won't get in it and won't allow the kids in the truck. This is completely unacceptable. Since it happened I researched possible causes and have learned this is a well documented issue in these vehicles. At this point I'm afraid to I'm either going to die or kill someone else in this vehicle. If I could simply return it I would tomorrow.

34 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2018 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 12/30/2019

When at highway speed and hitting a bump in the road the steering wheel will shake vigorously until the truck is slowed down. This is a very dangerous situation while at highway speeds. I had taken the truck to the dealer and I was told that Ford knows of the issue and currently doesn't have the parts to correct this issue. A TSB was issued, 19-2393 however there are no parts to correct this.

35 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2019 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 12/26/2019

Was driving with a load of ~19,000 pounds (fifth wheel) at ~55 mph, when the steering wheel began shaking uncontrollably until I came to a stop. The following day was driving without a load at ~60 mph, hit a rough spot in the road, and the steering wheel bagan shaking uncontrollably until I came to a stop. The truck has done this more than 5 times but less than 10 during the last 30 days. This issue began when my truck had ~24000 miles on it. The vehicle has done this while driving on state highways and local roads, but all paved. The dealership said it was a known issue. There is a steering dampener the dealership would like to try. I am unable to use the vehicle for its intended purpose, according to the dealership.
