Sun/moon Roof Assembly Problems of Ford F-350

The vehicle was taken to a glass center, where it was diagnosed with stress cracks. The mechanic informed the contact that it was a common failure, and the part was on backorder. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the sunroof glass was fractured, and the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-350. The contact stated that upon attempting to open the sunroof, the sunroof motor was running; however, the sunroof failed to open as needed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a diagnostic test was performed. The contact was informed that the sunroof rail guidance system had failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure was the result of normal wear and tear. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer and was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

I was driving off the ramp merging onto another interstate when my sunroof exploded. There was nothing above me or any cars in front or back of me. The cloth sunroof cover shows no damage. I take it to ted russell Ford in knoxville, TN and they deny my warranty. Stating something the size of a basketball hit my sunroof but the cloth barrier shows no sign of damage. I spoke with customer service and they refused to warranty the issue. This is a known issue with Ford and Lincoln and have thousands of complaints concerning this issue.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving 72 mph, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact pulled over and upon inspection of the vehicle discovered that the sliding glass on the panoramic sunroof had shattered without incident. As the contact continued driving, the contact could hear the headliner shaking as glass began flying off the vehicle due to the failure. The contact was forced to pull off the road again and clear all the shattered glass pieces from the top of the vehicle. The contact then took the vehicle to a dealer where he was informed that they would perform an inspection of the vehicle to determine the failure. A week later, the contact was informed by the dealer that the manufacturer had denied repair of the vehicle and that the failure was not a mechanical defect. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was 6,237. The VIN was not available.
