The transmission shutters and shakes very frequently. Vehicle also periodically will almost stall while driving. Overall the vehicle just feels incredibly unsafe and unreliable while operating.
I was leaving work when I got on the freeway when I step on the gas pedal the center of the car mainly the transmission start to shake and the car would stop move, the more I press on the pedal the louder the shaking get and the car would not accelerate I had to pull over to the side of the road shut the car off and wait for 15 minutes then start it again try to move it but it was moving slowly I eventually reach home.
Extreme transmission shudder to the point of tires losing traction while trying to take off from a standstill. Included shuddering at random from standstill and when shifting. Lack of any consistency in acceleration during some shifts. It continues to do this as we've owned the car approximately 2 years. Has already had the module reflashed.
Ford Focus transmission jerks and shudders while moving and while accelerating . Have had multiple repairs with no fix. Have had car stall in the past while trying to accelerate on a city street while traveling at ~35 mph. It felt like transmission went to 6th gear instead of 2nd and stalled the engine. Problems started immediately after purchase, ~February 2012 still have car now and still doing the shuddering and jerking while driving. Problems started new ~100 miles currently at ~85000miles.
Ford transmission dps6 clutch shudder. I've taken my car to the Ford dealership for regular oil changes since I purchased the vehicle. Numerous times I've complained to them that the clutch shudders and the extended warranty of the input shaft seals needed to be replaced. Each time they told me it was fine. Now that the 100k mile warranty is up (I now have 125k miles), they want to charge me $2. 5k to replace the clutch. All because these seals have been bad and wasn't replaced when the warranty was valid. When accelerating from a stop, I have loss of power and is dangerous when voiding to oncoming traffic. I've called Ford and they will not perform the repair themselves stating too many miles and out of warranty. The shudder is intermittent and makes me scared to drive my vehicle now. Ford knows this is a failed part and simply will not cover the work. This should have been replaced under warranty when I first brought up this issue, thus saving this more costly repair shortly after. I even notified the dealership during the July 11-19 window when dealers were "secretly" told to fix these issues. The dealer had my vehicle in their shop from 7/21-7-29 just to confirm the suspicion I've had for 3+ years. I had to pay for the "diagnostic" as well to confirm this. I am now scared of this company and this vehicle. I still have 15mo of payments left.
Transmission excessive shudder,,,pulling into traffic you dont know if car will stall or go when accelerator is pushed,,bought car for my daughter,,,Ford should be ashamed.
My car has had transmission problems since I purchased the vehicle. The transmission shudders, jerks, and loses power while driving. I have lost power while driving on the highway at 65+ mph numerous times and almost caused crashes. The car jerks when accelerating from a stop and changing gears which causes safety hazards to other drivers. My car doesn't start (randomly) and my engine shuts down when decelerating. The dealership has continuously blamed the transmission issues on my driving abilities (although they've known about the faulty transmissions before mass production).
Dual clutch transmission in my car experiences shift hesitation, shaking when launching from a stopped position, and major transmission shuddering. Reverse gear also fails to engage randomly. Seems as though transmission torque dispersion is improperly functioning. Dangerous when pulling out into traffic lanes. Excessive transmission vibration while vehicle is stationary. Other issues occur while vehicle is moving on city and highway roads. Thank you for your help!.
The automatic transmission shudders/vibrates when taking off. I took the vehicle to the service department and they stated that the warranty has expired. I understand that most of the Ford Focus and fiestas have this problem for many years.
The transmission of my car shudders during light acceleration when it goes into motion from a stationary position. I have been facing this issue for a long time now. It runs great in 1st gear but when it switches to 2nd it shudders and then shifts. Also when it is on gears more than 2 it runs fine.
Power shift transmission, both clutches were replaced by dealer. Still experiencing problems, while in motion at 55mph on smooth highway engine surges without acceleration, tach up to 6000rpm; at low speeds transmission shudders, jerks, does not shift properly.
Power steering completely stopped working. Almost wrecked the car. Transmission vibrates and makes noise.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. On several occasions, while driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated and jerked. On one occasion, while driving 60 mph, the transmission vibrated and the vehicle stalled. The transmission faulty warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to lance cunningham Ford at (866) 591-3943 (4101 clinton hwy, knoxville, TN 37912) where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to an auto center where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the manufacturer on several occasions, but was directed to voicemail. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000.
The transmission constantly shudders, shakes and grinds. Sometimes it won't even go into gear. It feels extremely unsafe.
Purchased car used and financed it and the second day the transmission started shuddering, getting stuck in low gear and almost got into an accident because it wouldnt go. Took car back and had transmission replaced and the car does the exact same things it did before going out first time.
Was driving down freeway at 65mph. Rpms shoot past 5 and car accelerates on its own up to 80mph. Cars message screen read "transmission malfunction- service now". I was able to pull over to the left - as there was traffic. Was able to get off highway but could only get my car to get as fast as 30mph before the rpms were past 5 again. Ford replaced transmission computer module. Drove car for ~hour and a half next day. Car is jerking forward worse than before. Shaking in the transmission. Would accelerate ~5mph on its own. Happened 5 times during the duration. Doesn't matter if you're in motion or stationary - this car has a mind of its own and I'm scared to drive it. I'm positive had someone been in front of my on the freeway, when it accelerated to 80mph on its own, I would have rear ended them.
My Ford Focus automatic transmission shudders and hesitates when shifting. It has been to the dealer four times. There have been updates done to the computer. It still has the same issues.
The transmission shudders and frequently does not shift properly (automatic transmission) and has even failed to apply power when pulling into traffic risking a collision by not accelerating properly. The transmission also failed once while on a hill causing me to roll backwards and nearly caused a collision with the vehicle behind me. After I hit the brakes to stop the rearward roll, I tried to accelerate and the engine just revved until the transmission slammed violently into gear. These issues have been present from day one of owning this vehicle but the dealership and Ford insisted that this was how it was supposed to function.
Recalled vehicle for computer system. Defect causes breaks to wear early, shuddering in transmission, and eventual transmission failure while the car is running. Is a known problem as I see from many other internet complaints.
Transmission shudders, especially on acceleration. The vehicle stopped on me recently; it took me about 10 tries before it finally let me move it out of reverse and put it into drive.
I bought the car used in July of 2014 with about 23,000 miles. Shortly after buying the vehicle, I experienced the transmission making grinding sounds and shuddering during acceleration. Generally after the vehicle is warmed up and been on a drive. A reprogram was done and I went back to the dealership for the same problem a few weeks later. At this point, with about 30,000 miles, a new clutch and plates were installed. The vehicle performed fine for about 5,000 more miles. The shuddering and grinding noises have returned. The transmission has been reprogrammed twice since the new clutch. I currently have about 45,000 miles. Ford will only reprogram or repair the vehicle if the shudder is outside of a certain range and attempts how to explain this is normal. I am still under factory power train warranty but it is like an act of congress to get the issue resolved. This is a recurring problem and I have been to the various dealerships at least 5 times for help. The transmission will sometimes jerk and struggle to accelerate. Really concerned about my safety and others. I have had this issue from about September 2014 to the present day.
The transmission shudders when driving between 20-40 mph. We see misshifting when taking off from a complete stop, clutch appears to slip at take off.
I have brought my vehicle into Ford service center multiple times regarding the recall and replacement of my clutch because of stalling and faulty acceleration which has almost caused accidents on 2 occasions merging into oncoming traffic and also increasing an injury to my back problems by the jumpy acceleration. Ford dealer claims that the replacements are on such a high back order that they informed me to try back in "November 2016" and just reset the clutch programming for new memory and insists I drive it hard as possible. This is a safety risk for myself and other drivers . The specific recall is fsa title: transmission clutch shudder / transmission input shaft seal warranty extension field service action number: 14m01.
Hesitation on acceleration; transmission shudders and has no power.
The transmission shudders and slips on acceleration from stops. The transmission malfunction light is on and it will not shift. Vehicle jerks when shifting.
The parking aid light came on and the car won't start! I have had the car in three times for transmission and shaking and it has yet to be fixed. The car does not accelerate properly and is going back in again today. Ford will not buy me out of my loan or work with me on replacing it. I bought this for my daughter and I do not feel safe with her driving it at all!.
Starting this past winter, my Ford Focus's transmission shakes, shudders, and slips, etc consistently when starting from a dead stop. The first time it happened, the vehicle actually wouldn't accelerate. I've had it in to Ford and they made the problem a little better but the vehicle still noticeably shakes when accelerating. It can also be very hesitant to accelerate when at higher speeds as well. Ford has checked the issue again and says that its "within tolerance". I find it absurd that they would consider what my car does to be acceptable. This is both annoying and a safety concern considering the acceleration is not always there the way it should be.
Vehicle suffers from transmission shudder issues. There was a recall for it but the Ford technicians stated the shudder was not enough for a full repair and instead performed a minor fix which has done nothing to eliminate the issue. This issue exists on a wide range for Ford vehicles with a common transmission. The shudder happens when accelerating from a stop, typically when shifting from first to second gear and also can happen when shifting from second to third gear.
I have had an ongoing issue with the transmission almost since buying this terrible car new. Transmission constantly shudders and jerks. Most recently was driving at about 60 mph when the car suddenly lost ability to maintain speed. Very dangerous timing as I was accelerating on to expressway and needed the speed to merge. Ford has no answer for this problem. Someone will be killed in these cars because of this problem. Please force a recall of these cars now! this is too common of a problem and NHTSA can be considered complicit when someone is killed at this point given the lack of action.
I have been experiencing increasing hesitating and shuddering from my transmission when attempting to accelerate. At times, I have experienced high engine revs with very little power to the wheels. I can no longer rely on the transmission to deliver the engine power to the wheels when I need it. I have had several incidents where I've experienced loss of power when attempting to maneuver the vehicle into the flow of traffic. This presents a very real safety hazard to the driver. I went to my dealership in response to the letter from Ford and was told that the parts are on national back-order. I was told that this was not a safety issue and would need to continue to drive my vehicle until parts were available. At this point, I have parked the car and have made other arrangements until I can get it serviced. Ford must own up to the fact that this is a serious safety issue and issue a factory recall.
The transmission shudders while accelerating and once it is hot, the transmission slips really bad and goes into neutral.
We have been experiencing on multiple occasions a transmission shudder and loss of acceleration during shifting.
I have a 2012 Ford Focus, VIN # 1fahp3m20cl452342 that I purchased new at Ford dealer in, az. August of 2012. Since then I have had it to 3 different dealerships for transmission shudder, cavitation, and shifting issues while in motion on in city. The transmission shifting issue persists to this day. I also have full documentation and repair invoices.
Purchased this vehicle used from Ford/Nissan dealer. Transmission makes grinding noise constantly. Dealer says this is "normal and within specs" which is hard to believe. I can probably live with the noise factor but car shifting is also erratic and jerky. When merging into traffic and speeding up car will "bog down" before upshifting to faster gear and then makes high reving sound. Purchased this vehicle to replace our families second vehicle and was also to be used by my daughter. Don't feel safe having her drive this. Driving safely in todays world is already a challenge but when you have to also adjust your driving and situational thinking to compensate for this vehicles abnormalities, it makes this Ford Focus an accident waiting to happen. Very disappointed with this vehicle and very hard to believe that this was designed to perform this way and that Ford has no fix or revision to correct this issue.
While traveling on a roadway while still mildly accelerating a vehicle crossed the center line as I decelerated and turned to avoid a collision the vehicle would not engage the transmission at approximately 25 mph after the on coming vehicle had changed its path. After trying to accelerate the engine revved. The transmission appeared to be in an upshift position prior to the incident and would not re engage until the vehicle was almost fully stopped. No one was injured but this could pose a potential problem had I needed to accelerate to change lanes to avoid a collision. The transmission seems to shudder at times and has had other issues with acceleration and deceleration. I did not yet contact the Ford dealership. This is a 2. 0 l engine with automatic transmission in drive and not in sport mode.
