Was driving home on a fairly busy street then suddenly vehicle randomly started to jerk and kick while accelerating. When accelerating in drive, the car was stuck in neutral and then suddenly jolted and went to first gear then second and then back to first all in a span of 20 seconds. The rpm was erradict and rised and dropped dramatically. Coming to a stop, the car would hesitate and continue to move forward despite braking so I had to keep a wide distance from the vehicle in front of me for fear that the car will lunge forward upon accelerating or trying to stop. I had to drive less than 20 mph, any higher and the car was kicking and jolting.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would not increase in speed. The contact also heard an abnormal popping noise coming from the fuel tank. The contact also mentioned that the gear shifter was stuck and would not shift into the correct gear. The vehicle was towed to capital Ford (3660 s carson st, carson city, nv 89701, (775) 882-5353) where it was diagnosed that the control module needed to be replaced. The dealer also stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline), but the parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they were not authorizing any rental vehicles. The failure mileage was 987,038.
I was driving my Ford Focus one morning in reverse after pulling out of a parking lot. When I went back t drive and started accelerating the car didn't accelerate. I got the error light saying " service car immediately" I finally got the car home (thankful I was only a few hundred yards away). Car has since been incredibly shaky and sporadic with the acceleration. I had the car taken to auto zone for a engine test and was informed the car has been getting stuck in first gear. Its clearly something to do with the terribly designed transmission that Ford did.
This was the first time my service engine soon came on. The transmission was slamming into every gear. I was stuck in 3rd gear revving at approximately 3500 rpm going 30 mph. I was able to drive the car home. The day after I took into spikes Ford where the problem was then fixed on 08-11-14. I picked up the car and drove home. 2 hours later as I'm entering a highway to go to wal-mart, the car lurched forward, rpm's flew way above 6000 and car sped up for a second then slowly declined down to 30 on the highway!! the check engine light came on again. I drove the car to the dealership and they felt the problem so they took the car yet again. Next day they called and said they fixed it. Another 3 hours later, check engine light came on and they reflashed it for the 3rd time in a 4 day period. Check engine light came on again so I decided to take it to boggus Ford. I took it to boggus Ford and within 3 days the car was out from the shop. All was well until later on in the night, the check engine light came on. I took it once last time furious already with the car and once again said it was fixed. I drove to school and as I was finding a parking spot, the check engine light came on. Right after, a message said, "transmission hot" pull over safely. Another message came on and said, "wait 7 minutes". Embarassed that my brand new Focus was doing this I let it cool off. A salesman we worked with, was kind enough to pick up my car and I from school. We took it back to the dealer where we then talked to a service manager. The service manager, laughed about our situation and said as long as we drive slowly the car will continue to heat up and said that Ford knows about this. I told him, I almost ran over other students, and he just continued to say as long as you drive slowly, it will keep doing that. The check engine light comes on and off now, but transmission still shifts hard.
When we drove this brand new Ford Focus off the dealer lot we noticed a sudden jerk in the transmission. We did not know if this was a fluke or normal so we drove it about a thousand miles. The transmission began to jerk more, jump, stall, hesitate, and rev up needlessly and seem to get stuck in gear. We took it back to the dealer with our complaints and they reprogrammed the computer and told us to give it another thousand miles to improve. As of this date, we have had this car back to the shop 7 times with the same complaint. At about 36,000 miles they did put in a clutch kit which helped it for about eight thousand miles. Unfortunately, the problem has returned. It is and always has been a safety issue for us. We never know when it is going to hesitate getting out into traffic. . . And we have been close to an accident several times. This last trip to the shop, just fri the 19th, they tell us there is nothing they can do. . . Just live with it. I know we are not the only ones that have this problem, the technician told us that outright. We are sick of this car and we have exhausted all our resources. We want people to know this is not a safe car so that is our reason for this letter.
