1 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2020

Vehicle shakes and transmission slips when pulling out from a stop. It does this every time you pull out from a stopped position.

2 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2019

#1- on an incline: after coming to a complete stop, transmission periodically shudders around 15-20 mph when shifting gears automatically. Also occurs frequently when slowing down to 10 mph for a speed bump, then accelerating modestly; usually occurs in 15-20 mph range. #2- after transmission heats up (driving for about 30 minutes), transmission shudders after coming almost to a complete stop, then turning onto adjacent street and accelerating moderately. Again, most often occurs between 15-20 mph. #3- hillside assist on an incline: sometimes transmission holds vehicle in place, sometimes vehicle rolls back. #4- from a dead stop, engine bogs down a little upon initial acceleration unless gas pedal is strongly depressed. Vehicle purchased September 2019 from dealership, multiple events (over two dozen) occurred beginning almost immediately and continuing over a three-month (approximately 1,400 miles driven) period.

3 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

I purchased the car with 6k miles 18 months ago and have driven it for approximately 15k miles since then. During that time I've experienced a recurring, persistent and severe transmission shudder that makes the car lurch and lag when starting from a stop or shifting from 1st to 2nd gear (although it is less severe - still very noticeable, but not scary when shifting from 1st to 2nd). Starting from a stop is the major safety-related concern for me because the driver has a sense of losing control. I assumed since the car was used it was out of warranty. Then a month ago I received a letter from Ford saying the warranty had been extended on the transmission shudder. The letter had my vehicle VIN number on it so I assumed it applied to my vehicle. After taking it to my local dealership they said my car was not under warranty because it had previously been wrecked (prior to my purchase of the vehicle). They charged me $250 to diagnose and confirm it has a severe transmission shudder problem, which they said was not covered by Ford. They estimated the necessary repair to the clutch and actuator to be $2,100. I called the Ford hotline confused about the letter I received only to be told again the warranty doesn't apply to me because the car was previously wrecked. I understand a previous wreck may void the warranty, but in this case it seems an exception is warranted as this a well-known transmission problem with this model and my symptoms are identical to those documented elsewhere. Ford also refused to reimburse me the $250 I paid to have the problem diagnosed, which I did because they sent me a letter telling me my warranty had been extended. Ford should be required to fix this problem even on cars which otherwise don't qualify for the extended warranty because of some technicality.

4 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2019

I was at a stop light. When I began to slowly accelerate away from the light my car shook aggressively and stalled in the intersection. Luckily other cars were able to stop. I restarted my car and put it in gear it began to shake again. I turned the car off. Eventually I started the car and drove it home shaking every time I accelerated. I took it to beau townsend Ford. They told me it was a clutch shudder in the transmission and needed fixed. They said it is a common problem with my transmission. They told me they have problems with the transmission slipping into neural. I purchased my car one year prior and the salesman told me then that the transmission was reliable and effective. He it was a great transmission that never needed servicing during the life of my car. He knowingly lied to me.

5 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2019

This vehicle is equipped with the 6 speed transmission that Ford as had so much trouble with, however they will not repair the problem that causes the shudder as they say it falls out of the build dates. The car only has 80,000 miles on it and should not be having transmission problems. If there is a problem that they have already recalled or put out a TSB for he dps6 automatic transmission, it should be fixed. When accelerating from a stop there is transmission shudder occasionally. It doesn't do it all the time, but a lot of the time. This is the same thing other people are fighting with just a few weeks prior build date. This seems to happen when you are taking off, sometimes when it shifts to 2nd gear. Most every time it does it you can bet you are pulling into heavy traffic and its going to cause an accident. The first time I noticed this I had just driven about 400 miles. Since then it has been noticed more.

6 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2019

Transmission shudders slips and is generally sluggish. Sometimes reads in neutral and car is in drive mode. Ford dealerships state clutch assembly and seals need replaced have written documentation from dealership confirming the issue. I contacted Ford customer care and was told that there was nothing they will do to repair the problem as Ford has not recognized that there is an issue. I was told that I am responsible for repairs even though they are aware of the problem. I was shunned and generally treated very poorly by every f ord dealership I spoke with as they stated they cannot recover the repair costs from Ford.

Failure Date: 03/08/2019

Takata recall I just bought this car in 03-08-19 I notice the car wheels, transmission shakes its like it didn't want to go when you hit the gas. I thought maybe its out of liniment but something is not right. In motion in city and highway, turning. I have not taken to dealer ship I saw that they are some recall on this car. If so what next do I?.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,274.

10 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2018

Issues with my transmission shuddering when accelerating from a stop in June of 2017. Vehicle was taken in for diagnosis and was informed that clutch shudder was over the limit. Clutch assembly on the vehicle was replaced. This was at 49131 miles. In June of 2018 same issue with shuddering transmission returned. Vehicle was again taken to service department. Informed that the clutch was shuddering st 443 and the max is 250. Was again told that the clutch assembly needed to be replaced. This was at 71351.

11 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2016

Shortly after purchasing my Ford owned used Focus I noticed a shudder in the transmission. I took it back to the dealer and was told the clutch needed repalced under warranty but parts weren't available I waited 6 weeks for parts. The repairs took about a week. After about 3 thousand miles while traveling on an interstate the car lost power. I discovered it would only go in 1st or second gear using manual shifting. I was able to eventally get to my local Ford dealer and was told clutch needed replacing. Another three week wait on parts. Immediatly after getting the car back I noticed the shudder was back. I returned to my local deler where I was told another part in the transmission was broken. It was replaced. I drove the car another 15,000 miles when the shudder came back. Again I returned to the dealer where I was told the clutch woulkd need to be replaced at a cost of $2,600 because it was now out of warranty. I complained and was eventually charged $1,100 for the clutch replacement. I have owned nearly 30 Ford vehicles in my life but I have never had an experience like this with any other. I am perplexed that Ford seems oblivious to the problems this car has caused.

12 Transmission Shudder problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2015

I purchased my car with 12 miles on it. The transmission shuddered and lagged from starting point. Couple weeks after I bought it, I was doing 70 on the freeway,it down shifted to 4th gear. The trans was in d and 4th at the same time. I called Ford and they said to have it towed,it may not be safe to drive. Was told by the dealership it was a faulty battery, they replaced it. The trans cont to shudder from starting, and lags between gears. A month later,I was at a stop light and the trans showed it was in d, but first gear started flashing. I took video of it. I took it to dealership after calling Ford. The dealership recalibrated the trans. The trans cont to shudder and lag,I called Ford for the 3rd time. I was told by the area manager that this is normal for this trans. I let her know that I feel unsafe in a vehicle where the tran shudders and lags. She stated take it to the dealership and she would put in a for a "good faith vehicle exchange". I took it to the dealership, they replaced the trans module. Still having the same issues. Called Ford to find out status on my exchange (I let her know I wasn't looking for an upgrade, I wanted the same car in a manual, which is a down grade) was told it was denied. I asked for a reason, they would not give me one. I asked for her supervisor. She called me and stated request was reviewed and it stands. I asked why it denied, and what they check when making decision. She stated could not give me any information because its proprietary. She said I should have been advised by the dealership that the trans would react that way. She also told to take it back to where I bought it,see if they will take it as a trade on something else. The dealership we bought it is 6 hour drive, there is snow in the mountains that we would have to cross. Car currently has 5300 miles on it. First time was 2088 miles, oct 15. 2nd time 3095 miles,Nov 11,3rd time 5158 miles, Dec 7.
