4 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2025

The powershift dual clutch automatic in the 2015 Ford Focus is faulty. This issue has caused my car to stutter since purchase. Even after utilizing the warranty regarding the tcm (customer satisfaction program 14m02 - supplement #5) and doing all all preventative maintenance per Fords recommendation throughout the entire cars life (new batteries, oil changes, fluid flushes, etc. ) the car has always failed to operate correctly. Now, at 89,991 miles, my service light is on and my car is stuttering to the point where is is dangerous to drive do to intense lagging between shifts and unpredictable rpms. Ford diagnosed the issue as "tcm followed pin point test states to inspect clutch and shift forks. " Ford denied coverage under warranty, recall, or class action lawsuit ([xxx] v. Ford motor company, c. D. Cal. Case no. [xxx]) I was required to pay a $175 fee for diagnosis and was quoted $3,888 additional to fix the problem. I denied service. 7 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2024

Parts replaced, according to 2019 r/o from Ford dealer: clutch assembly parts needed for replacement, according to r/o from Ford dealer: clutch, clutch forks x2, clutch bearing, clutch hardware, 1 qt of transmission oil available for inspection, however it is getting diagnosed with possible proceeding of replacement at an independent service provider. I experienced gear slippage, resulting in high rpms and no gaining of speed while driving on an on ramp onto a 65 mph limit freeway, which my vehicle then maxed out at 50 mph. Following this, the transmission did not engage into reverse when shifted from within the car. Yes, I had the work done in 2019 for the 14m02, tcm recall, and the dealer saw that the "clutch assembly" was worn and not performing within the necessary standards. This was covered by my general warranty, not the 14m02 extended warranty. I currently don't have the repair order from the 2019 fix as it's in my car at the independent mechanic, but can be provided. The vehicle will be inspected by an independent service center this week/today. This model has had a known problem of "shuddering" in earlier years, which my personal vehicle does experience from time to time, specifically when stopping and going or going uphill. My engine light did eventually turn on, but with no direct messages, once the vehicle became fully undriveable (not shifting from 1st to 2nd without major kickback and no reverse). Using my personal code reader I received the following dtc codes: p07a5 - transmission friction element "b" stuck on p287a - clutch 'b' stuck engaged.

11 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2024

Stopped to get gas. Turned off engine. After filling up gas tank, car would not start, or crank/turn over. No check engine light has been on, no warning lights. Disconnected battery for about fifteen min. Car started up. Took it to shop, they changed out the evap purge system. It failed when they tested it so they changed that out. Car did not stall when they test drove it. Car stalled two more times. Once when accelerating from a red light, and second time when just sitting in idle. Car just shuts itself off but the radio stays on. This is such a safety hazard because of the fact that not only does it stall in the middle of me driving but I’m very lucky I didn’t get rear ended or t boned because of this. So I thought this issue was fixed but obviously not. After the last time it stalled after getting it fixed, I then had it towed to a Ford dealership. I know this has been a recall on other Ford Focuses. For some reason not mine which is a 2015 Focus. Last year I had to have the tcm fixed which was a recall so that was free however then they tell me that my clutch went bad at 60k miles? I shelled out almost $3k for that nonsense. Now this stalling it constantly day after day at 75k miles? thanks a lot Ford. Take your piece of crap back and issue this a recall. Either way it’s Ford’s fault and should pay for this safety issue for free.

12 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2024

What happened? I purchased a 2015 Ford Focus from carvana in November 2022 with about 70,000 miles on it. Since then, the vehicle has experienced numerous and severe mechanical failures. The engine mount and transmission mount have both failed and required replacement. Additionally, the rotors, transmission control module (tcm), and clutch have all needed to be replaced, with the clutch failing five times throughout the car's history. Despite extensive repairs costing upwards of $7,000, the issues persist. Most recently, the vehicle was subsequently towed to a Ford dealership after replacing the clutch for the 6th time in vehicle history. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the components that failed include the engine mount, transmission mount, rotors, transmission control module (tcm), clutch, and evap purge system. These components are available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the frequent mechanical failures and replacements, particularly of critical components like the tcm and clutch, have compromised the reliability and safety of the vehicle, posing a significant risk during operation. The vehicle's tendency to stall while driving or idling increases the risk of accidents, potentially leading to rear-end or t-bone collisions. Yes, the problems have been confirmed and addressed by both a dealer and independent service centers. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? the vehicle has been inspected by independent service centers and possibly by the dealer. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no, there were no check engine lights or warning lights prior to the failures. The issues began appearing shortly after the purchase in November 2022.

14 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2024

My check engine light came on and I took it to oreily to read the codes. It stated O2 sensor. Had it replaced immediately. Light went off for 2 weeks. I've notice my car having a lack of power but I thought it was due to the cold negative temperatures. Last few days the light came back on and I tried driving in d gear and my car would not move. It went in reverse. Transmission fluid was low. Had it filled and the next day it was back low. At this point I already had an appointment to get the tcm replaced (experienced all symptoms including lack of power, no start, engine light on). Since there is a warranty extension and I was finally able to get in after waiting a few months. I called when I received the letter back in September of 2023 and was told by multiple dealers that they were booked and I would get a call back after giving them my name and number. Dropped my car off today at the dealer and as I pulled in my car stopped moving and I got an emergency message stating to stop the car and that the transmission was over heating. Wait 5 minutes until it cools. Keys were given to the workers and I get a call stating that I need a new clutch and that's the code they got back from the transmission. They also stated that warranty won't cover since I'm over the mileage and date. Had I received an initial letter about the warranty I could have had this situation resolved and a vehicle to drive. Im now stuck with the cost and just found out that I can't get it covered. My family's safety was put at risk because I was not made aware of this problem since I never received a letter and I assumed my car was reacting to its environment. My car has always had a lack of power when taking off from breaking or not driving in d when I first press the gas. I've received a letter about the transmission before and it's shuddering, lack of power and other symptoms, and assumed it was just that. Nothing to do with the clutch.

Ford dealership allowed someone to trade-in their 2015 Ford Focus. I bought it, 7/2020. 10/2022 the transmission and reverse stopped working. After having the car towed to the dealer, the tcm was the issue and is on back order. No eta and was notified (surprisingly) I had an extended warranty; 10yrs 150,000 miles - which covers a rental. I had to call the dealership owner with docs to request a loaner. I was notified I could trade it in - but why would I pass this issue onto someone else? once I got through that I began arbitration. I was notified by Ford manufacturer they’d offer a $1500 cash and keep settlement! I still owe $4k on a while that has 3 yrs left on a transmission warranty that is known to reoccur! Ford is continuing a vicious cycle!.

31 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2021

Car will start surging and then will stall out. First noticed when car was purchased, but was told it was normal for the car to do. I will start the car and it'll run for a few seconds then die. Sometimes for only a couple times and then the car will run okay. There are times it'll surge then die up to 7 times in a row. Only a couple times it has surged and died while out driving. The car would die in the middle of the road. Car started up with issues almost 3 weeks ago and is progressively getting worse. Sometimes the engine light comes on then it will turn off. 2 different dealerships, jess Ford, in pullman washington and joe hall Ford in lewiston idaho, both have done inspections and claimed to have fixed the transmission, but the issue has continued to be an issue. It has happened over 15 plus times of stalling and surging in the last week. Tcm replaced, clutch replaced, fuel purge valve has been replaced. We were told it was a one-time fix, but it has been a nonstop issue since. The technicians informed us that it would fail again, and it did. Car is a 2015 Ford Focus, under 94k miles.

Failure Date: 10/30/2019

I was sent a letter of recall Dec 2018 for my 2015 Ford Focus, reference 18s32; NHTSA recall 18v-735; I promptly took my car into autonation Ford katy TX for repair, on Dec 22 2018, warranty claim invoice# 981353 at this time pcm was reprogrammed and it checked ok. On oct 30 2019 my car was at half tank of gas, and it stalled out repeatedly, and engine light remained on. I took it back in. Im concerned that: 1) the repair was not effective 2) I need a calibration & inspection on the powertrain control module; ref recall 19s22n 3) my cpv valve was never replaced, as Ford did not have the part avail at time of recall Dec 2018. My car is showing all symptoms of cpv and or pcm failure. . I cannot let my gas tank go till half full or below, or it surely stalls and engine light is on, also the low idle is v rough, classic cpv or pmc failure symptoms earlene schmitt cell 832-293-8414 work phone 713-798-6328 my dealer claims my cpv is fixed and I do not have right to recall 19s22n this is just wrong, in my opinion, it was never fixed, replaced in the beginning.
