When idling - my Ford Focus will often randomly accelerate, after a few moments it then bottoms out completely, nearly stalling. This also happens when I'm braking instead of decelerating it will accelerate and jerk the car terribly straining the brakes making it harder to stop.

The vehicle was not repaired and was still at the dealer. The contact stated that the clutch was replaced four times. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000. The car has had several recalls and transmission problems since the day I got it. It has clutch issues that leaves me stalled stuck in gear in the middle of rush hour traffic. It has left me stuck in my garage and not being able to go in reverse for days at a time.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the purge solenoid was seized opened or closed which caused the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the vehicle experienced a shudder in the transmission and hard shift between gears while the vehicle was being driven. The contact also stated that intermittently the vehicle failed to shift to reverse after the clutch was replaced. The failure to shift to reverse was a new symptom which occurred only after the clutch was replaced. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted and informed of the failure. Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled and would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to autonation Ford located at 2525 34th st n, st. Petersburg, FL 33713 who replaced the dual clutch shifter but the failures continued to occur and the message transmission failure was displayed. Additionally, the sunroof would not completely close causing rain to leak into the cabin of the vehicle, all 4 doors would not shut properly, the tire air monitoring system malfunctioned, and the catalytic converter failed. The cause of the failures were not determined. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 63,000.

This car is stalling stalling constantly . It just gets worse as time goes by . Once it gets going at a good speed its fine . Yet when u take off or pull out in traffic it stalls and is extremely dangerous. I've had it looked at by 2 mechanics and they say its a problem with those model cars and there are recalls on some . . I would like to know if its recalled on this car because I am very afraid of getting killed because of the stalling . . Please help before this happens.

While driving within city limits on a daily basis, my vehicle shutters from the start and at acceleration, sometimes stalls as I start to eccelerate from red lights and stop signs, creating potential hazardous conditions. Engine light has come on and want go off, and smells of fuel while vehicle is being driven.

Had recall service done for fuel tank deformation issue or so the dealerships says. But after I the car back it seems to be running great but 5 miles down the road it stalls on me and fails to crank when it did it wouldnt continue to run or idle for long before stalling again. After 30 mo s or so of priming fuel pump and retrying and letting set. It cranks up and runs fine. Recall needs to be further researched or dealership needs to be investigated for fraudulently claiming to complete recall procedures and not doing so.

After being stopped at a traffic light on the highway, my vehicle began acting as if it did not want to get up to speed and would not go above 35mph without dramatically jolting forward. It did this a couple of times before swerving a bit and finally stalling completely, pressing the gas would do nothing to get the car to speed up. I did manage to get it to a side road before having it towed to the dealer.

Car stalled on 99 highway without any warning losing all power and unable to restart. Towed to dealership and was informed tank was now deformed due to the vapor system lock of the cpv safety recall notice 18s32 technicians have sent pictures that they are in possession of and said they could not give us copies of but allowed us to see and showed us the technicians recommendations for tank to also be replaced along with the cpv . Ford customer service centers have not returned phone calls after being informed of our concerns and state specs due not met there requirement so therefor are refusing to pay for tank to be replaced . Although the specialist states different.

Car stalls at will, gas gauge & miles to empty always wrong, low fuel indicator light never comes on and has huge problem w/ acceleration. It often shakes violently when I hit gas pedal, also takes forever to get up to speed. If it's not shaking violently then it just stalls, literally dies, will not restart. Forget fuel gauge. Not only is it always wrong, it changes at will. I go up or down a hill, gauge & miles to empty changes. Low fuel indicator never lights up so who knows how much gas I have. Last two times it stalled on highway at 65mph. Engine just cut out, died & would not restart. Has been to dealership 3 times in 3 weeks for same issues. First incident, kindle Ford in cape may court house, NJ had it 9 days over labor day holiday. Finally advised repairs eligible under recall however waiting for parts, specifically fuel tank, which according to fedex was in transit. �lucky for me� he said, finally had loaner available. I'm walking to get loaner when suddenly tech yells over that my car is done! what? he just said tank was in transit! reluctantly took my car only to have it die again. Had it towed to kindle again and he said car started right up for him after he put gas in it. He implied I ran out of gas because gauge was pinned on empty. I had put gas in it that morning. Gauge indicates it was low but it was not pinned on empty (see photo). And if that was the case, warning light never came on (see photo). Now they are saying they can't fix it until they replicate problems for themselves. As if I was lying! car doesn't do it when they drive it so what do I do? I'm afraid to drive my own car but I have to go to work, etc. I just hope my son & I aren't killed when car unexpectedly stalls again while we are on the highway.

The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to mccombs Ford west (7111 northwest loop 410, san antonio, TX 78238) for warranty service on the transmission and was informed that there was sludge in the engine. The dealer replaced the transmission. However, the contact stated that while driving, the vehicle stalled without warning, the contact turned on the hazard warning lights while on the highway and was about to drive when the vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle. The contact sustained back and neck injuries that required medical attention. The front passenger seat moved forward as a result, the front passenger sustained face and chin injuries after colliding with the dashboard as well as back and neck injuries that required medical attention. The driver from the other vehicle was not injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer, the contact stated that he was not aware of diagnostic testing or repairs because his lawyer was dealing with the accident case. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The vehicle stalled during a left turn into the right lane of oncoming traffic and was hit as a result. The vehicle was declared a total loss. The vehicle had been taken to Ford previously due to concerns of stalling/sluggish acceleration at which time the dealer disclosed an issue was known that was most likely the cause. The dealership kept the car and performed repairs. The acceleration seemed a little better but still not right based on decades of driving experience. I think the cpv issue (18s32/18v-735) may have caused the car to stall and be hit when it would not have been hit otherwise.

I purchased a used Ford Focus in July of 2016 from joe machens capital Ford in jefferson city, mo. It was sold with a 100000 mile warranty and had 20,725 miles on the odometer. Within 24 hours of driving it home to rolla, mo I started noticing a shudder and shake while driving the car. I was unsure what was going on and called the dealership only to be told this was normal due to the type of clutch installed in the Ford Focus and not to worry about what I was experiencing. This went on for some time and grew progressively worse. I received a recall on the shuddering problem which I learned was actually a clutch issue. I took my car to the local Ford dealership in rolla to have the clutch assembly replaced for the first time on 9/21/16. It should be noted the previous owner had the transmission control module replaced on 2/8/15 and replaced again on 8/3/15 at the jefferson city, mo dealership. After having the clutch assembly replaced in rolla it was only a matter of weeks before the problem was back - shuddering, jerking, sounds like a chain being dragged underneath the motor or gravel crunching, and sometimes, even had the car hesitate or completely stop in the middle of the road. The car was in motion each time I experienced the above situations. It does it upon take off, while driving, up hills, pulling out into traffic, etc. It has had the same problems day after day except for maybe hours after having it in the shop. I drive my car for work every day and was not able to have it back in the shop until January of 2018 to have the clutch assembly replaced again along with some other recall work that was done at the same time. When I picked the car up after the repairs were made a second time I was given a printout of operating characteristics of the powershift 6-speed transmission. What a load of crap that was.

After 2 visit to Ford they stated that I needed to wait for a letter in order for them to replace parts they have. The car is running lean bank 1. When fueling, it stalls. It has stalled while drive on a few occasions. The fuel itself, goes quick, now that the problem has persisted. Getting under the car, fuel tank looks deformed as well and the code I get in the car is p0171. It's been close to year since it's started and I still has not received a letter.

This car hesitates and jerks from a stopped position. There is a rattle as the car starts moving. On two occasions, while merging uphill into traffic, the car stalled. On several other occasions, it came close to stalling. I've taken it to the dealer several times over the years and they tell me there is nothing wrong. Takata recall I can feel my car jolting (almost everyday now) especially as I try to accelerate or increase speed. I feel it the most when I am accelerating from a stop light or slowing down for a turn and trying to speed back up. My car has stalled twice on the highway as I was trying to accelerate after slowing down. I can see that there is a recall out for my car however, there is no remedy available and I no longer feel safe driving this car! I purchased the car back in July of 2018 and felt the jolts around mid-September. Now they have gotten increasingly worse and are a part of my everyday driving. I was told that there would be a solution early 2019 so I was determined to wait until then but now we're in the latter half of the year with no solution.

I have a 2013 Ford Focus se. I bought it used at 84k miles from a dealership in February of 2019. First time I got gas after buying the car it had trouble starting afterwards. Had that fixed and it doesn't stall but the miles to empty reads incorrectly now. Also started making a grinding sort of noise when I'm going up slight inclines. When shifting down from drive to park, my shift gets stuck in neutral or when I am shifting from park to reverse, I am unable to move the car into another gears. When I am at a stop light and the light turns green my car seems to stalls to take off. When I drive down the street the car acts like it wants to shut off. A Ford truck almost hit me because the light was already green and my car stalled and would not go. I had my hazard lights and he swerved into another lane where the traffic was headed toward the truck. This very dangerous.

We had transmission clutches replaced through recall. This did not fix problem. While driving, car will start flashing transmission error, hill assist error, breaking error , etc. . Then the car will stall. We have taken it to dealer 3 times now. This has happened on busy city streets and highway.

On Friday, may 30. 2019, around 5:00pm, I was driving to a family event. I had just stopped for gas about 15 minutes prior to the incident happening. As ibwas driving and I came to a stop. Just as the light turned green, signaling for me to go, and I released my foot from the brake and began to accelerate, my car stalled. I was in the middle of a very busy intersection. I immediately put on my hazard lights, put my car in neutral, and began pushing it out of the street. There was smoke coming from the hood that eventually dissipated. I made several attempts to restart my car and it never would. I called my roadside assistance provider and had my car towed home. I have been trying to figure out the issue when today I had a reader plugged into my car to test for any error codes. Surely, codes p0100, p2227 and p0456 all came up. As I researched these codes, I was brought to the NHTSA website and found thid recall that I was never notified of and there's no remedy for. I am without transportation.

The code was cleared. While driving 25 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

While driving my 2014 Ford Focus on the highway, the car almost stalled during a backup in traffic. While normal driving the car lost power and the rpm gauge started dropping as the accelerator was been depressed further. While traffic to overtake on the highway the car actually slowed down while trying to go faster. The car behave like the transmission is having problems switching to lower gears.
