On may 18, 2015, when I was pulling out of my work parking lot and turning onto the main street, the passenger front door flew open for no reason. I pulled over and tried to close the door, but it would not latch closed at all. I tried several times and ended up "seat-belting" the door shut. I feel this is an extremely serious safety issue. When I took it to the dealership, I had a pay $100 deductible for this to be fixed, but again, I feel this is a safety issue and deserves due investigation. There was absolutely no reason for the car door to come open when I was driving. As I am writing this complaint on July 31, 2015, my back passenger door did the same thing, except my daughter was in the backseat!! (tracking issue #: 10745475) I sincerely hope consumer affairs looks into why Ford Focus 2012 car doors are not latching closed!.

The dash unit will cease to work and all speakers in the car will unexpectedly emit an earsplitting, high frequency squeal. This sound is intermittent with a loud crackling and popping which cannot be stopped. This occurs while driving the vehicle, when the vehicle door is opened and the engine is not running, while the vehicle sits without any operation or ignition, or at any other time. The piercing sound has only stopped by removal of fuses in the passenger side fuse box. The entire dash unit will not function and thus does not alleviate the noise. This sound has been produced by the vehicle when not in motion, engine is not running, and car has been immobile for a long period of time. The abrupt, deafening sound is a safety issue which can cause an accident due to the driver’s reaction.

The car was difficult to drive from day one, hard to steer and keep on the road, along with the transmission problem, had it checked several times and told there wasn't a problem with the steering, then it it started making a grinding sound when the wheel was turned, kept getting worse until the car was not drive able, and it was stored. The transmission was recalled, but told the steering is not. Ford says it needs a new rack and pinon but is now out of warranty, as our complaint we turned in when it was under warranty had been wiped out, due to a new computer system. It only has 32,000 miles on it, and now they want $2200 to replace the rack and pinon.

My 2013 Focus started experiencing a loud pop, causing me to jump and swerve, thru the speakers and the radio would stop working. It would happen once in a while. I could reset the radio by restarting the car. It started happening more and more often. It progressed to include a very loud crackling/popping noise. Now (2/09/15) I had to pull the fuse (#79) in order to stop the noise, even when the radio and car were off. I'm without a radio now and looking a large bill. All of this started happening after the 3/36. Started at 46k miles or so. Seems like others are having similar problems.
While merging onto the freeway my car would not accelerate. I pushed the gas pedal to the floor and the rpms shot up but car would not accelerate. Finally after almost being hit by other cars it shot off like a rocket. After multiple incidents of jerking and not able to accelerate randomly I took it to Ford and the clutch was replaced in April 2014. Not long after, it started doing the same thing except worse. I took it back to Ford and was told the tranny test results came back normal and that a motor mount was missing or loose. They kept it for 3 days to fix the motor mount. The car is now worse and today the check engine light came on and car had very little power. Going to take it back to Ford and hopefuly they will fix it this time. My gas mileage is only 20. 1 mpg. Another problem was that my entire sync system went out and had to be replaced in August 2014, costing me $1093. 00. It started messing up by having a very loud popping/crackling noise that would start randomly even when car was off. It was very scary when it would suddenly start making the loud noise while I was driving and almost caused me to wreck at one point.
I was pulled over on my way home from work almost midnight, and was notified by the officer that I had no taillights, but my turn signals and hazard lights were working. The license plate light and running lights are not working either. In addition, several months ago the dashboard lights blew a fuse, and have repeatedly blown the same fuse. I saw that the wires on top of the hatchback, inside the rubber tube, are cracked and broken. I saw online that this is a recurring problem. There could have been an accident, as I work second shift and always drive in the dark. I don't know how long the lights have been out.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that he attempted to place a yakima bike rack on the roof of his vehicle but the front and rear clips failed to connect properly. The retailer was contacted and informed the contact that the manufacturer ensured that the rack was adequate enough to function properly. The rack was not replaced.
The chrome trim on my steering wheel has begun to crack and flake off. I did not notice at first and had my finger run along it. The trim is cracked medal and is very sharp. I have not yet cut myself enough to draw blood but have stuck, stabbed, and caught my finger on it embedding a piece of chrome trim in my finger like a sliver. This is a widespread issue documented on multiple Focus forums, and by other 2012+ Ford Focus owners. This seems to only be an issue that is on 2012+ se sport packages. This is very frustrating, it makes driving the car difficult because in my case it is right above my steering wheel mounted radio buttons and catches my hand easily. Ford is doing nothing about this in my case and actually blaming me for it, but in other cases has both replaced other owners pieces and in some cases like mine done nothing. This is very dangerous as many people in the forums have stated they cut themselves good enough to bleed. One even said his wife now refuses to drive the car. Ford refuses to fix this because it would require them to warranty an airbag since they decided to make the airbag and trim one piece. Because of this myself and others will continue to cut our fingers, hopefully not very seriously. Thank you for reading this.
Within a month of purchase, the vehicle has been "shuddering" I have reported this to the dealership every time I sent it in for service and all they tell me is "it is normal, you have to get used to it. Its the new transmission technology of Ford. " I cant believe that after 2yrs and 17k miles on it that it is still exhibiting the same problem and there has been no resolution to it. May I know until when am I going to wait? another problem that just came up- I have witnessed a loud sound coming from the speaker. Seems like a thunder/cracking noise. My husband has heard it twice. It is a very loud sound. It scared me when I heard it the first time.
The contact owns a 2002 Ford Focus. He wanted to purchase a kayak holder from thule. Thule advised him that they would not warranty his vehicle because the roof rack for his year make and model did not pass there crash tests. There had been no failure to date. The current mileage was 50,000.

All of these components listed happens multiple times and at different levels of intensity. The car has been taken to two different Ford dealers both have said problems are in our heads. I will give them credit for coming up with clever excuses, they blamed the vibration on the luggage rack, the lights dimming is a "Ford thing" well this car is a little over a year old it has had 4 recalls. It seems that every month a new problem comes up with this vehicle (tiresize: 15).
