1 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2017 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 06/13/2019

A few months ago, my car started to shake (in a jerking, forward and back motion), and struggle to accelerate. It would make this noise, like gears grinding. I took it to the dealership to get it fixed under warranty, and they replaced the clutch. For about a week, it was fine. Then it started to do the same thing again. It will jerk back and forth when I accelerate from a complete stop (at a stoplight for example). Recently, I have been losing gas very quickly because it will go all the way past 4rpms just to get from 0-20mph. I'm not sure if the warranty is still on it, but it only has 12,000 miles on it. I have only made one very big trip with it, to kansas and back to virginia. It does this off and on every single time I drive it. I have to drive anywhere from 25 minutes to an hour for work, so this is really not convenient to have. Multiple times I was worried it would break down as I struggled to keep it from overdoing itself while accelerating. A few times, I could smell something like exhaust in the vents. This has been happening over the course of 6 months and has only gotten worse, even after taking it to the dealership, and having them tell me it was "fixed. ".

9 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2002 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/21/2008

We bought this two yrs ago from Ford dealership and up to the date it broke down not one problem . We do all the maintenance plus some all buy certified mechanics . This was our only car . The engine blew at under 200xxxkm . These are all highway km as we are commuters . There is no way this engine should have blown at that many km without some kind of warning sign . Before the day it blew there were no knocks nothing ran like a top . We have never taken this car over 100km on the highway as its our only mode of transportation . We still owe 140000 on this hunk of crap . Im just wondering if this is the norm for the Focus engines . Im just baffled because like I said there was absolutely no warning signs up till the morning it happened it started to sputter and lose power . The misses dropped me off at work made it to the shop barely and its never started since . The mechanic says there is no compression in number 4 cylinder and it was just in the shop for a tune up maybe a month tops before this happened . Any help or info would help . There aren't that many out there that care about the little man so I'll take any help or advise I can get . Thx tania and derrek eberlie.

After three unseccessful attempts to have my Ford Focus repaired for engine stalls(while on the highway with the kids in the back seat, with 18-wheeler behind me). Iionce again took my car to Ford for warranty work. They found that the fuel pump was not suppling enough pressure and fixed it I thought, when at work with the car running and the exhaust at running temperature, all the fuel leaked out and could of very easily caused a fire which could of caused a great lose of life not only for myself but also for my wife and kids who always drive the car.

Failure Date: 07/15/2003

Flange brakage on the egr valve assembly. The pipe breaks at the flange where it connects to the side of the exhaust manifold. Causeing a sputting sound and emitting exhaust fumes into the automobile. It also causes problems with (3) sensors. I called the service and parts department at three local dealers and was told by all three that this is a common problem with this part but there was no recall. So I had to have a new one installed with a one year warranty on the part. But if this is common whats to say after a year it will break again? the part is not well made as it's made out of copper with a small weld at the flange. I have been to other Focus owners group sites and found several had seen this same problem. I would be thankful for any help you can give me on this matter. John garner.

23 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2000 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/15/2002

Air has not worked properly from purchasing the car new. I purchased the car in wa state and have moved to ohio. I am now told that even though the problems started prior to the warranty expiring, since I bought the car from another dealer, I will have to pay for any future prolems myself. Fuel, Ford know this is a problem, and refuses to tell me if the new fuel pump I had them put in is an old pump or a new one without the problems. Other, exhaust leak, I was told I had an exhaust leak, but the engine still sounds very knocky. I am 4th generation Ford, my sister was also and now buys anything but Ford, this will also be my last Ford, but any cash back would be great after buying the most expensive piece of junk I have ever had.

26 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2001 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/15/2001

My security system basically went nutty. . . It even sounded funny when the horn sounded, the cruise would also stick or not work at all when it should have been turned on. I have had the hego sensor or the front oxygen sensor replaced 3 times, one at my own cost. . . I had a huge bulge pop out on my tire early on, firestone replaced it at no cost. . . The brakes have intermittantly squealed since the vehicle had few miles on it, when I took it in to get it fixed, it basically felt like they had loosened them because you had to press on the pedal harder to stop, soon after they started squealing again, all Ford will tell me is that I need new brake pads at my cost because it is road hazard. . . Should a car with 40,000 miles need brake pads? I think not. The last complaint that I have is that the car will stall with no apparent reason why. . . No matter what the speed is or if I have just started it or have driven it all day it does not matter, I will just be stuck until it decides to start again.
