I want to know why the people driving this year of Ford Focus have not been compensated by Ford for all of the "defects" associated with this vehicle? in 3 years time, I have replaced the battery, shocks, repaired oil leak, vapor management valve and replaced tires out of my own pocket. The recalls are unreal! I have had it in the shop for "fuel tank deformation recall", the "tcm clutch shutter" has been replaced 3 times. Not to mention the times I have taken it in for that to be fixed, only to be told it wasn't the problem when it was later verified that it was. And now I receive notice that the doors fly open while driving! I can't trade it in, because I am $3,000 upside down because the vehicle is not worth squat. I have lost employment because of this vehicle and it has significantly impacted my and my family's quality of life because of all of the problems it has caused. I have been losing gas for the past 2 years and the mechanic's can't find the problem. When I fill up, the miles to empty will show for example 274, when I drive 1 mile by the odometer, the miles to empty has indicated 6. That is a huge amount of money I have lost in the past 2 years. This is outrageous that Ford motor company has not been forced to compensate us unfortunate people that got "stuck" with a vehicle they knew had issues! I have all paperwork for everything I have stated above but there are over 100 pieces of paper. If you require this from me I can make copies and send to you but to upload everything is too much. Please help! I would like to get into a vehicle that is safe to drive for me as well as my family. I have been driving in fear since a week after I purchased this in Jan 2017!.

I have had to replace the same part multiple times. The tcm seems like it needs replaced almost every time I get an oil change. Every time my car gets fixed another problem appears. My car will not go in reverse right now, and has a misfire in cylinder 1 which I know the misfires happen often. But there is also a leak in the evap which happened right after my tank was fixed for the deformation of the tank recall. My transmission ticks, and the clutch plate needs replaced. I have an automatic Ford Focus but the car is constantly shuddering. The vehicle has the clutch shudder when I'm at a complete stop and I press the gas pedal. It doesn't matter if it's light or not.

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road where it idled, but did not engage in any gear. The vehicle was towed to dave sinclair Ford (7466 s lindbergh blvd, st louis, mo 63125) where it was determined that the clutch failed and needed replacement. The contact also mentioned that the clutch had to be replaced twelve times since the vehicle was purchased in 2015. The mechanic also mentioned that there was an oil leak in the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

Transmission shudder then driving on highway low oil light came on randomly happened before took to shop and said the rear main seal went out which caused oil to leak into transmission and making the clutch slip.
The engine is starting to leak oil. The service writer did state it's a common problem with these cars.
Front timing cover oil leak. Faulty silicone won't seal.
Check engine light is constantly on and the engine leaks oil. The transmission does not change gears, shudders excessively and lacks power going uphill.
Timing cover leaks 1-quart of oil every 3,000 miles. This seems to be a known issue for all 2012-2014 Focus'. Ford will not acknowledge the defect.
On October 6, 2012 I purchased this new automobile. February 27, 2013, the auto was taken to a local dealer. There seemed to be a shuddering/dragging when the gas pedal was applied from a complete stop. An inspection was done and no problem was found (it was happening sporadically). After taking it in a few more times they still could not find a problem. August 4, 2014 I took car a dealer 110 miles away. After describing what was happening, the mechanic told me it was probably the clutch was not engaging. They repaired it and it seemed to be driving much better. By mid 2015, the car started shuddering again, so on November 11, 2015, since I knew what was the probable problem was I took the car to a local dealer and told them what the other dealer had done. They verified the problem and had the car for several days while parts were ordered and a new clutch was installed. They told me the car was leaking oil and they would order the necessary parts (new clutch). The car was brought in again on 12/8/15 and left several days. They again ordered parts and replaced defective ones with other parts. On 1/18/16 the car had to be towed to the dealer because all the oil had leaked out of the car. The car would not move and there was a computer message stating there was a problem with the transmission. Again the car was at the dealer for several days while parts were ordered and installed. On 2/16/16 the car again was brought into the dealer. This time extensive work was done on the car. Three engines were ordered and another clutch was installed. I received my car back the week of April 5 (6 weeks later). On 7/11/16, the car had to be towed to the dealer (50+ miles away) because the computer message read transmission hot stop car immediately. Again another clutch was put in with other parts due to the clutch breaking. My car was at the dealer for another 6 days.
The car has 70,000 miles on it. It has had 3 oil leaks (1 oil pan & 2 head gasket); I have also had to have the clutch replaced twice. The first time was due to shuddering and the second time was due to a transmission malfunction code. The two clutches were replaced 10,000 miles apart.
2008 Ford Focus does not accelerate properly or stalls randomly. On multiple occasions I was in traffic on both city streets and highways and nearly got hit more than once. I had the pcm replaced by a certified Ford mechanic in 11/14, it had a two year warranty. In 1/16 it began doing the same thing. It had to be replaced in 4/16. After replacing the pcm at a Ford dealership the second time my car stalled out on me the next day. The pcm code was the same at each location (code p00607). Both pcm's were purchased from Ford brand new. I am now being told by the Ford dealership that the following code (p0320) was obtained. They indicated the following work needs to be done in the amount of $575. The cost of the repairs include: tune up is $260. 00 this includes spark plugs ,spark plug boots, and 2 ignition coils and the labor to install them. The cost to replaced the valve cover gasket that is leaking oil into the spark plug valleys is $315. 00 this includes the parts and labor. (spark plug valleys #3 and #4 have oil in them. ) my concern is that this was never a pcm issue; however, it is something else feeding misinformation to the pcm to send inaccurate codes to the entire system. The probability of three pcm¿s being faulty in 1½ year is not likely. This vehicle has stalled in traffic on more than one occasion and is a risk to others and myself on the roads. I have grave concerns regarding the reliability and safety of the 2008 Ford Focus se. Ford needs to investigate and correct this safety issue.

Consistent oil leak; transmission lagging on shifts when starting out from stops; transmission not shifting properly.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the engine leaked a small amount of oil onto the ground. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 9,971. Js.
After about 30-45 mins of driving the car will begin to shudder going from 1st to 2nd gear. It occurs most noticeably driving from a stop. I have brought my car in numerous times and have been told numerous excuses. At this time it is getting annoying, however it becomes a concern when turning onto roads because it does not produce any power during this time. Its only a matter of time before a accident occurs because of this issue. There needs to be a recall on the transmission on the 2012 Ford Focus. Updated 03/25/lj also, an oil leak was found, the vehicle would shudder in reverse and it felt as though the traction control was engaging.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while having the vehicle serviced, it was found that there was an oil leak. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the main seal, clutch pack and front seals had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
Vehicle has been leaking oil since it was purchased. (2) Ford dealerships have attempted repairs multiple times to stop engine oil leak(s), all of which have been unsuccessful. Was under vehicle on 5/12/13 and noticed there is still engine oil leaking from area around engine/transmission. Defect allowing engine to run without optimal amount of oil, leaking oil creates fuel for potential fire, used engine oil is known carcinogen, which is being deposited within engine compartment and allowed access to passenger cabin.
Vehicle has leaked engine oil since new, which was first discovered at 500mi. Engine oil contaminated clutch discs in automatic tranmission, which resulted in replacement of rear main engine seal, transmission clutches, etc. Which was supposed to resolve problem. Attempted repair took place at approx. 7500 mi. At 7800 mi, engine oil is still leaking oil, covering the bottom on the engine and pooling on the under-engine cover. Suspect new clutch discs also contaminated, which is causing jerky transmission action in drive.
Noted jerky movement of car during turns and immediately upon acceleration. Was minor at first, but appeared to increase in duration and intensity with additional mileage. Quality of shifting between gears very poor - surging and lurching noticed. Slight oil leak detected towards front end of engine at first oil change. Under engine cover also coated with engine oil residue. Took vehicle into Ford dealer for above complaint, was informed that engine had lost oil due to leak and had comtaminated its clutches (even though it is an automatic, it has 2 clutch discs) which caused erratic performance and required replacement and repair. Initial guess is defective rear main seal is at fault. Concern over damage to engine dismissed by shop supervisor. Personal concern was that volume of oil soaking into under engine cover could be ignited by engine and cause fire. Safety concern over defective transmission is that decreased performance would leave vehicle stranded. Complete loss of engine oil would result in car stopping, and could possibly cause accident, damage, fire, etc.
The contact owns a 2002 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was shifted into park and the contact attempted to restart the vehicle but to no avail. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the engine would have to be replaced due to oil leaking into the engine. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 94,312 and the current mileage was 94,312.

Vehicle was taken to the dealership for a routine general maintenance, and mechanic determine that engine was leaking oil. Service manager indicated to the consumer they will fix the problem for $100. 00. But he had to sign an agreement if the job was not satisfactory dealership was not responsible. The settlement had to be resolved by a local arbitrator. Vehicle was still leaking oil.

Heating/vent produces a disgusting smell. Repairs indicated oil leak near heater - unknown origin. Smell abated but still it produces annoying smells that requires windows to be kept open. Will have to go back to selling dealership 4th time for further investigation. Is there a better way and another shop in cleveland, OH that can make an independent assessment of the problem? thanks.
While driving my 2001 Focus wagon on interstate off ramps it starts to stall and hesitate. The rpms drop out with absolutly no power. This has happened numerous times and is really scary. The last time it happened was yesterday while iwas merging from a ramp and my car died out infront of a semi trying to get onto the ramp. I pulled over as far as I could to get out of his way he locked up his brakes. I take this same ramp all the time since its onmy way home from work. This problem starts if I let the gas get below a 1/2 tank. I been to the dealer and they can't find anything wrong. I am bringing it back tomorrow again to have they find the problem. I am at my wits end with this. I told my family about the problem and said if I get killed in an accident on a ramp it because of the problem of it dying. And to go after Ford for this. My family has been in the car when this happens so they know what I am talking about. I went over your other complaints about this vehiscle/ it is unreal the amount of problems that I have in common with them, it worrys me. I was going to give this car to my daughter to drive she 16 but not now. I want her to come home in one piece. I have had a water noise in the dash they cant find, sticking gas pedal now fix for noe after 2 times in the shop. The oil smell in the car. Leaking oil I see in in the driveway but can't seem to find where its comming from. I wish I knew more about the lemon law a couple of months ago. It doesn't apply to me now because of my mileage. I drive about 100 miles a day. If you have any question please contact me. Thank you.
