Purchased my car in 2000. My car currently has 51,000 miles on it now. Since that time, I have purchased two brand new sets of tires and have had my car aligned two times. . Ihave also needed my trunk latch replaced and although my brakes have been replaced they continue to squeal. Recently, whilr driving on an interstate mt car sputtered and shut down. I waited two hours at which point it was able to be driven. I took it to Ford and they believed I need my fuel pump replaced. This occurred one more time approximately three days later.

Control arm failure resulted in tires needing to be replaced, though they had less than 20,000 miles. Ford would not warranty them and firestone would not honor warranty due to damage being caused by defect in the car. The problem with the engine starting and/or dying has just begun in recent months and seems to be getting worse.

I'm continually experiencing a burning smell (as if something is getting very hot) coming from within the vehicle's engine compartment. This has been an ongoing problem since I purchased the vehicle 'new' approximately six months ago. I've notified the Ford dealership (seller) and return the vehicle back to them regarding this problem. However, they claim that they can't find anything to be concerned about. I advised them about news reports which indicated that others with similar circumstances eventually experienced a vehicle fire in the engine compartment. The dealer then claims that nothing can be done until Ford motor company decides to initiate a recall notice. Dt.

Brakes squeak when applied. After 4th trip into dealership, service advisor said this is a common problem for the Ford Focus but that Ford is not doing anything about it. Engine has failed on me 4 times in the 18months that I have had it. The dealership just replaced the fuel sending unit and said that it "should take care of the problem. " I doubt it! if this happens again, I will be checking with California lemon law. This was my first Ford and definitely my last!.
Car has cut off 5 times in last year at speeds of 55mph without warning. The last time caused my daughter to lose control and run over a medium. She was lucky that she did not cross it and kill herself and someone else. Ford knows there is a problem but refuses to fix it as "they cannot recreate the problem. " when will the NHTSA do something? after several people are killed?.
