Was driving down the interstate at roughly 80 miles per hour when the check engine light came on. Engine lost power and would not accelerate. Engine started making a loud noise. Car will still start but is not drivable and engine has no oil pressure and mechanic said it downshifted to 4th gear at 83 mph. Car has been serviced regularly and has given no indication of engine problems. Was quoted $4500 at first Ford dealership to repair car with a used motor with equal mileage. 2nd Ford dealership quoted $3700 with rebuilt motor. Has been looked over by 2 mechanics including Fords and other than reading diagnostics nobody can provide a reason the oil pressure dropped or why the car downshifted into 4th gear uping the rpm's causing engine problems. They said there is no other problems with the car at this point other than the engine. Very no Smart to replace an engine without knowing the what caused the initial one to fail.

My 2016 Ford Focus se has stalled while driving on the freeway twice in the past two weeks. In addition, the transmission is very jerky and the engine studders and makes loud noises when shifting into 2nd and 3rd gears. The car only has 53,000 miles on it, yet the transmission is defective.
I have now had two major issues with my hybrid. The first was 5 months ago. My husband was driving the car on the interstate, when all of the sudden he lost power and the engen started smoking and make horrible noises. We had a rod thrown through the engine and had to replace it ($3200). Then on Friday morning I was driving to work on the interstate when I lost all acceleration and the hybrid warning system started going off. I had my mechanic look at it and he told me I will need to replace my transmission, he also said this is a know problem with the Hyundai sonata hybrids. It is about a $4000 replacement. Please help those of us that put our trust in this vehicle and are now paying for it.

2014 Ford Focus se. Driving on highway. Heard a loud sound. Car began to lose power and the oil light began to flash. Within seconds smoke and flames came from engine. Front end was engulfed in flames within minutes. Car had been to three shops prior and nothing was ever said about there being a problem. Even was taken to Ford dealership.
"takata recall" initially the car started shaking and making terrible noises. After parking it, the car would not go into reverse. It was towed to a "dealer" facility where they did some "repairs" on the transmission. . . . . $600. The car was transferred to me and I have experienced a loss of forward power several times. After a short wait period it will start. I have been involved in an accident. . . . . Pulled onto the 4 lane one way highway and lost power. . . . Bam . The car also has the "shudder" issue while idling. . It feels like the engine will stall.
Hello, I'm seeking help from your department as I am an owner of a Ford 2014 Focus. I've had three transmission/clutch replacements after purchasing the car brand new in 2014. Usually the car becomes unstable/jerky when driving which signalled a clutch replacement. However over the past two months after two more clutch replacements the transmission/engine ceased while driving in towson MD inner city streets. The first being exactly over two weeks ago and which a new clutch was installed. I picked up the vehicle and two days later called the delearship stating it is still not driving right. I could feel something was wrong. I noticed sudden jerks and what seemed like the transmission was wearing off again. I was informed by the service person mike mazor that this is normal and the adaptive systems will have to get used to my driving pattern and to give it 1000 miles. I expressed my concern that something needs to be done because the vehicle felt unsafe to drive. Two days later while traveling on interstate route 40, the car suddenly decelerated, made a loud roaring sound and when I pushed on the pedal it seemed as if it was on neutral and did not want to move. All I heard was the engine rerve. Extremely panicked and scared I quickly moved over to the yellow line without causing an accident or injuring myself. I had the car towed to the delearship closeby as I felt very unsafe driving any further. I was informed today by alpacker Ford that they worked on the vehicle and the engine light is no longer on, the car runs just fine. They will be doing one more test tomorrow to see if they can replicate the problem. I'm totally baffled as to how the engine light turned off or why they can't find the issue. I'm afraid this car is going to cause a terrible accident if I keep driving and and pleading help from your department to get Ford to find the fault and fix urgently.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact called on behalf of the driver. When the driver accelerated from a stop sign, the vehicle shook and made an abnormal noise. In addition, while driving various speeds on the freeway, the vehicle hesitated when changing lanes. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to town east Ford (18411 lyndon b johnson fwy, mesquite, TX 75150, (972) 584-9140), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
I have had the car back to the dealer twice for it studdering and not shifting right. It has still shuddered once in a while while going forward coasting and turning but not as bad as when I took it in. I love my Focus but am so upset that it now has a major transmission problem that may not be covered under my extended warranty. I don't have that kind of money and I take good care of my car, getting oil changes ect when due. Ganley Ford in barberton now has it and is taking it apart to see what the issue is. Should not happen on a car this new. It started making a loud noise when pushing on the gas and driving at about 40-50mph. The noise was loud like a race car, vibration noise. I took it in to Ford the following day and was told it was not safe to drive. I mostly drive on street, not on the highway. It was in drive going forward that the noise issue occured, getting louder the warmer the car was.

We've taken our 2014 Ford Focus in many times for the clutch/shuttering/shaking issue we've had. The first time we took it in they stated that they adjusted the sensor, gave me some printed out transmission information and did not document the fact that I even took it in. The car seemed fine for about two days and it was back to normal. We took it in to that same dealer about a week later and once again adjusted the sensor and said everything was in manufacturer standards. I'm pretty sure when I buy a car I buy it for a smooth ride, not some stuttering loud engine making car. It's loud enough people stare at my car. We got the recall notice and they said they replaced the clutch and the sensor and it's been fine for about a month and now the loud noise is back so I'm assuming that it's just a matter of time before the shaking/stalling comes back. We've almost been in a couple accidents because the car stutters so bad that we can't move from the start. Oh, and one funny note, we were told by the dealer not to push the accelerator pedal more than 30% of the way down when driving from a stop. So I guess I need to measure how far I put my foot down. This is by far the worst and most unsafe car I've ever had. Something needs to be done about it before someone really gets hurt.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. In addition, the engine rpms fluctuated and there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure occurred on two occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it diagnosed that the tcm and pcm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 15v813000 (electrical system) however the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
The piston shattered at 109,000 miles. After doing some research, I have found many more complaints of the same thing. Come to find out that there is a design flaw in the engine when it comes to the valve seat. This happened in the #3 cylinder. The walls of the cylinder wall is so scored from the damage that it will require a new engine to fix the problem. When this happened, I was in a parking lot after shopping. I turned the key and it would not start. It also made a terrible noise. Before that, it was running fine. I had no trouble with my car except having to change an alternator. That's it. I changed the oil every 3,000 miles. I bought the car used at 90,000 miles. It was from a friend who is obsessed about keeping cars maintained. He would get a tune up, serviced, and change the oil when it was time. The car was well maintained by him. I found out there was a design flaw in the engine. But yet, there is no recall to fix the flaw. And when calling Ford, they say that there is no recall and has no intent at opening one for the faulty engine.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While the vehicle was parked, an abnormal sound was heard from the engine and the driver side fog light illuminated independently. In addition, while driving at various speeds, the radio turned on and off independently. The failures recurred constantly. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failures was not found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.
On 10/15/15 my car stalled and completely pulled back , died down to almost a halt then kicked into gear again , like a pull and let go motion. Out of nowhere, this gave me a scare since I was driving and could have been rear ended because of this complete stall in the middle of the road on n. E. 163rd street north miami beach towards biscayne blvd. Engine light went on and a screen message showed up asking me to service transmission now! I have had to park car until I figure what to do? this car has turned out to be a problem for me, first with the back driver side door latch where door just flew open while driving, (that's a different claim I have placed with NHTSA). I can't afford to keep fixing these problems appearing to this Ford Focus. Radio also went dead with a super loud disrupting pop sound and loud static electrical noises which could not be controlled by lowering volume or turning off radio , this loud pop sound startled me also while driving on turnpike from davie towards north miami beach. Would like to get Ford motor to recognize that my Ford Focus 2012 is a lemon, if not the right term then it's a product of shoddy parts used to construct this car.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle made a loud noise and would not accelerate past 45 mph. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 48,000. Ad.
Purchased new and within 40,000 miles the clutch has failed two times and the transmission module has failed once and has had to be reprogrammed twice. The suspension makes loud noises on the front end whenever you hit any bump. I feel unsafe driving this car because it can lose the ability to accelerate at any time without warning.
When I first got the car in September 2013, the car would jerk and shake when pulling off from a stop and was also very loud. I took it to be serviced and they told me that was normal. I took it back a few months later because I didn't believe that was normal. They fixed it. But now it's starting to shake again. In June 2014 the engine light started coming o for a few days. I took it to Ford and they claim they fixed the problem. The light came back on in July, they claimed there was nothing wrong with it. The light was back on in September, they claimed yet again, nothing was wrong with it. I took it took a small transmission shop, they read my codes and immediately found a problem, claiming it was a transmission issue. A few days later, the light was back on. Each time the engine light comes on, it would stall and immediately slow down right in the middle of traffic. Each time Ford claimed nothing was wrong with the vehicle, the engine light would be on for two days. Each time I took my vehicle to Ford, they would keep it 2-5 days. . . I couldn't get a rental car half of the time because they wouldn't actually do their job until the last day and then tell me that nothing's wrong with my car. We all know, your warranty company needs to know the problem before authorizing a rental vehicle. This last time in October, they claim to have fixed it. They claim that a sensor had to be replaced. I will never buy another Ford vehicle. I cannot wait to get rid of this car! my car is still shaky. It makes a kind of loud noise now as well.

When turning a corner and attempting to accelerate the care shuddered and made loud noises. It progressed to shuddering every time I accelerated. . . Climbing small grade, changing speed zones etc. This is an automatic car. I had it into shop where they cleaned clutches and the problem persisted and now there was shuddering when I attempted to back down a small drive way incline. The car continues to shudder and make noise. The service department tells me the car needs to learn my driving style. . . . Bs. This is embarrassing and frustrating not to mention that I feel very unsafe driving a car with transmission problems. I was told to drive it more, but I refuse to drive a brand new car with these issues.
2001 Ford Focus. Original owner. Maintained. Spark plug blew out of cylinder. Dealer suggested most expensive fix - new cylinder head and spark plugs. Not covered by warranty. Will instead just get spark plugs rethreaded and trade in car ASAP before any other major issues. Car lost power. Was at a stop light and then made a right turn. Lost power and loud explosive noises resulted on freeway access road. Police had to come out until tow. Dangerous situation.

While driving my 2000 Ford Focus zx3 my car lost all horsepower and would barely drive down the road. I had the throttle body replaced and now it is making a loud noise if you try to excelerate. With this occuring I am left with nothing to do but, spend "more" money on problems everyone is having with this year and model of car. What does it take for the Ford corporation to do something about it. . . Someones life could be taken with all these defects and reoccuring problems.
While driving 20-25 mph consumer heard a loud noise coming from the engine. Vehicle was taken to the dealer, and mechanic determined it was an engine problem. But, there was no recall.
When applying gas vehicle begins to hesitate and engine starts to produce a loud noise.
When driving the car it goes into neutral then back into gear when backing up the car it grinds the non-drivers side floods everytime it rains windshield wipers were no good both back doors make loud noises when opening and closing there are dents on the non-drivers side below the doors engine light goes on once in a while when driving car sometimes jumps into gear. . (scary) and others I asked the car dealer before buying the car if this car had been in any accidents. . He said. . Michele, we do not sell cars that have been in accident. After some of these problem had occured I checked the VIN# and it said that this car had atleast 12 problems before I bought it.
There was a loud noise coming from the engine.
Vehicle experienced brake problems, it made a loud noise while driving, and oxygen sensor failed. Also, engine problems. Oil was leaking from the oil pan under the motor. Owner was referred to the state attorney general's office to seek protection under the lemon law.
