36 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2016 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 01/24/2020

Car check engine light came on and car stalled when approaching a stop light on city road. Took car to mechanic who ran diagnostic and found code p1450 stating unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum which is related to pcm memory. Stated that this is a known issue with this make and model. Was told pcm needed to be reprogrammed to latest calibration using ids release 99. 05 or higher. We feel that this is a known safety issue that should require a fix by Ford.

37 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 01/19/2020

We had a little over a quarter tank of fuel. We going shopping so we topped off the fuel tank this morning. After we drove approximately 80 miles, it started snowing heavily. I noticed something with the car. I had no acceleration like the engine died. Regained power for a few minutes until the engine died. I was lucky enough to park on the side of the road. Tried restarting the engine several times. After a half hour, I tried again only for the engine to sputter to and idle. It idled for 3 or 4 secondsand died again. After another half hour I tried again. I started and ran about ten minutes. I had the car towed home in fear of stalling out again.

40 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 12/16/2019

Vehicle would lose motive power in long turning off/on ramps when fuel level got down to just above a 1/4 tank at first then as time progressed the same issue would occur in highway traffic. Narrowly avoided accidents on several occasions due to this. Vehicle never threw a code for anything, it would just stop running. I took vehicle in to dealer to perform manufacturer recall 18s32, they just reporgrammed it and gave it back. Problem got better at first but did not go away. Since the recall work another recall has come out and the level of fuel I need went from above 1/4 to above 1/2 a tank of fuel. When the fuel gauge reads 1/2 a tank the vehicle will take between 7 and 8 gallons of gas (the fuel levels on the gauge are wrong) this morning I lost motive power on the highway in traffic at low speeds with a full tank of fuel and it finally threw the code p00c6 twice, which after looking it up I identified this to be something along the lines of insufficient fuel pressure at the fuel rail. I plan on turning the car in to have the second recall for this issue performed in the next few days and, according to the recall from Ford, this should constitute replacement of several components in the fuel system. I want this on record before taking the vehicle in. This issue has been ongoing and has made me late for and miss work on several occasions.

41 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2015 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 12/06/2019

Each time you put gas into the vehicle it will not start for several minutes. The engine keeps trying to start but it will not kick over. Also the car has stalled while being driven down the highway and it has taken several minutes to start back. The dealership where I bought the car replaced a sensor in the gas tank however this did not fix the problem. After doing much research I have learned that Ford had a similar issue with the 2. 0 liter Ford Focus.

42 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2015 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 12/05/2019

After having a recall done in December of 2018 for the canister purge valve, or know as recall 18s32 all that was performed was a reprogram and nothing else. A year later my vehicle is experiencing the same problems as before, the vehicle only has 65k miles on it. I contacted multiple Ford dealerships as well as Ford's corporate offices and was told that I would have to come out of my own pocket for any repairs that needed to be done regarding the problems I'm experiencing, because recall 18s32 was already performed on my vehicle. After fueling up and starting my car the car will almost stall out, as well as trying to stall when sitting at a red light or stop sign. I'm also experiencing a lack of power when accelerating. My obd scanner comes up with a fault code "p1450 unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum". A lot of people are experiencing this problem even after getting the recall 18s32 performed on their vehicles. It seems like a temporary solution was put in place and unfortunately many people are suffering from it, I would like to see Ford release a permanent fix to a potentially very dangerous problem!.

43 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/25/2019

Everytime I pump gas in my car and I turn it back on , it wants to die immediately. One time it took about 5 tries before it actually worked. I had just gotten the recall done for the fuel tank where it was reprogrammed so it can detect an issue with the canister purge valve. And now my engine hesitates to start.

44 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2016 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/21/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). The contact took the vehicle to frontier Ford (3701 stevens creek blvd, santa clara, CA 95051, (408) 533-1488) where the contact was informed that the recall was for the deformation of the fuel tank, not the canister purge valve. When the contact notified the dealer of the recall, he was informed that it was a "public safety notice". The contact was informed that he would have to pay for a diagnostic test to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was in the possession of the dealer to repair the fuel tank. The canister purge valve remained unrepaired. The failure mileage was 62,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

45 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2018 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/19/2019

I took my car in for a obd reading and it came back a faulty purge valve or unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum. Take it to Ford and they said they can't do anything because there is no recall for my car. When looking up my VIN there is non right now, I clearly have stalling issues and the check engine light is on. I would like get a recall on it because 1. 6 million people have had the same issues.

46 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/19/2019

The vehicle will struggle to start or fail to start once refueled. When idle the car will increase to 1,500-2000 rpm without assistance. At times while idle, the vehicle will also flutter around 400-500 rpm threatening to stall (has done more than once). The fuel gauge reads inaccurate measuring a quarter tank more than actual. Check engine light for a canister purge value issue.

47 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/16/2019

When driving car and come to a stop, it splitters when accelerating. When fuel gets lower than half of a tank, the car loses power, sputters and engine makes a grinding noise. This happens only when driving uphill or from stopped position.

48 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/11/2019

Vehicle stalls and has hard starts, check engine light, an inaccurate or erratic fuel gauge, and loss of power. Recall was to reprogram the ecm but did not resolve issue. Ford denying to perform the other part of the recall to replace the cpv, gas tank, charcoal canister, and fuel delivery module.

49 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

The vehicle was purchased on August 11, 2019 from ourisman Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of bowie. A few days after, I started noticing issues with acceleration, deceleration, and fuel gauge issues with the vehicle. I went back to the dealership and I was told that fixing the fuel tank recall and transmission warranty extension on the vehicle will fix the issues. I took off a day from work and took to ourisman Ford & Lincoln in alexandria, virginia. After several hours of waiting, I was told that I will have to drop it off another day because some part(s) will be ordered. About a week after, I dropped it off and it stayed for over 3 days. I was told that everything was okay. Perhaps, just about 1000 miles of driving in about 6 weeks after the repair, I almost had an accident due almost sudden stop on the highway on Friday, November 1, 2019. I was driving at about 60mph when the vehicle almost stopped with the alert transmission fault service now. I managed to pull off the road, turned of the engine and turned it on after about 20 minutes and the alert came up again. I drove at no more 20mph with the hazard lights on to my home. I scheduled appointment with darcars Ford in lanham MD to drop it off on Monday, November 4, 2019. I am complaining because I have owned this for less than 90 days but I have gone through a whole lot. Now it's becoming clear that the dealership knew, concealed and sold a severely useless vehicle that almost took my life. I am frustrated because the absence of a vehicle will obstruct my work, my son's school and all our medical appointments for the week. I sincerely need help. . .

50 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2015 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/30/2019

I was sent a letter of recall Dec 2018 for my 2015 Ford Focus, reference 18s32; NHTSA recall 18v-735; I promptly took my car into autonation Ford katy TX for repair, on Dec 22 2018, warranty claim invoice# 981353 at this time pcm was reprogrammed and it checked ok. On oct 30 2019 my car was at half tank of gas, and it stalled out repeatedly, and engine light remained on. I took it back in. Im concerned that: 1) the repair was not effective 2) I need a calibration & inspection on the powertrain control module; ref recall 19s22n 3) my cpv valve was never replaced, as Ford did not have the part avail at time of recall Dec 2018. My car is showing all symptoms of cpv and or pcm failure. . I cannot let my gas tank go till half full or below, or it surely stalls and engine light is on, also the low idle is v rough, classic cpv or pmc failure symptoms earlene schmitt cell 832-293-8414 work phone 713-798-6328 my dealer claims my cpv is fixed and I do not have right to recall 19s22n this is just wrong, in my opinion, it was never fixed, replaced in the beginning.

Failure Date: 10/12/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that cpv (canister purge valve) had a recall under NHTSA campaign number: 19v515000(fuel system, gasoline) where she had it serviced at corning Ford 2280 short dr, corning, CA 96021 (530) 824-5434. The contact was informed to drive the vehicle with a full tank of gas to prevent the vehicle from stalling. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000. Jo.

54 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/09/2019

Recall 18s32. Brought the vehicle in to dealership on 9-8-19 when I received the recall notice. I was told that software needed to be updated. At that point, we had not experienced any of the symptoms of the recall. I was told that there was a check to see if the software needed to be updated and it did not. On 10-9-19 while my daughter was driving the vehicle, the gas gauge went up to full (it was only 1/2 full) check engine light was on (it has consistently been on for weeks) and most importantly and most frightening is the vehicle completely shut off while she was driving 65 mph on a highway. All of these things that occured are directly what the recall is for. Although my daughter was driving on a hightway , thankfully she was not hit or killed by other drivers and did not crash the vehicle. Now because the vehicle was initially brought in before any symptoms and Ford determined no software update was needed, they are denying to replace the canister purge valve which is what we were told by the dealership needed to be done. The vehicle cannot be driven now because of the fear of putting whomever drives it in danger. Not only is this is unacceptable but I am very frustrated and feel that this safety issue should be addressed by Ford immediately. There is also a recall (recall #19s22) stating dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. I have tried to get this addressed not only through Ford's customer service directly but by speaking to the service manager at the dealership where the car was bought and serviced. Seems like this is not an urgent matter for anyone but us. I do have a case number that was assigned by Ford which cas-24503630-j8w6y7.

55 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/08/2019

Vehicle was recalled for NHTSA #18v735 canister purge valve/fuel tank deformation. When vehicle was taken to sheehy Ford of gaithersburg dealership (maryland) for clutch replacement in July, 2019, dealership also checked recalled cpv and deemed it was fine at that time. In early October, 2019, approximately two months later, cpv starts failing, remaining "stuck" open, and vehicle doesn't start after fueling. When it finally starts, vehicle's engine needs to be revved in order to keep from stalling. Ford and dealership say they will no longer pay for replacement of recalled cpv because "it was fine when they checked it" two months prior. Owners with recalled vehicles have until December 31, 2019 for reimbursement of prior cpv fix or covered replacement of failed, recalled part, however. While this has not yet caused an accident, it is a safety hazard, it is a recalled part on our vehicle, and Ford should still cover replacement of recalled parts, especially as we are within the given time frame of covered replacement. Also, if we had not had to bring vehicle in for clutch replacement just two months earlier, the recall would still be open on our vehicle.

56 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/04/2019

On oct. 4, 2019, our 2012 Focus suddenly had a hard start and smelt of gas fumes in car. Took car in and had repair done which consisted of sender(bv6z-9h307-av) and gasket(4l3z-9276-aa) and paid out of pocket. Just under 2 years ago, had an issue where fuel tank got sucked up. Tank(bv6z-9002-e) was replaced along with same sender and gasket as listed above plus tube as(bv6z-9d289-b) paid out of pocket in Dec. 2017 but was just recently reimbursed due to a recall. I hope this will not be a continuing repair we need to do every couple of years since a recall 19s22 was issued .

57 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Ford Focus. The contact stated that when they attempt to fill the fuel tank the fuel would begin to leak from the vehicle. The contact stated the fuel would leak out of the same opening they were attempting to put the fuel into as if the fuel was spitting back at them. The contact contacted the dealership (mullinax Ford of palm beach located at 1210 northlake blvd, lake park, FL 33403 phone number 888-856-1675) who informed the contact that their vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 06e056000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 128,156. Gl.

58 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/26/2019

Car stalled on 99 highway without any warning losing all power and unable to restart. Towed to dealership and was informed tank was now deformed due to the vapor system lock of the cpv safety recall notice 18s32 technicians have sent pictures that they are in possession of and said they could not give us copies of but allowed us to see and showed us the technicians recommendations for tank to also be replaced along with the cpv . Ford customer service centers have not returned phone calls after being informed of our concerns and state specs due not met there requirement so therefor are refusing to pay for tank to be replaced . Although the specialist states different.

59 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/20/2019

The vehicle had a recall done 8 months ago and recently the same problems of the recall such as the gas tank issue and the transmission issues are still a problem n went to Ford n told what happened and they didn't do anything about it but just 2 weeks ago before I took it to Ford on a Friday night I was driving n my car shut off as I was on a busy road cars passing me by my car just shut off and I pushed the car to the side stressed because I didn't have money for a tow truck and I didn't know what was wrong until someone said try putting gas in it and I told them my tank was half and gas monitor said I had 140 miles to go before it's empty but when the gas was put in the car it turned on and the gas monitor showed 0 then it went up to 260 and the other issue is the transmission when I'm driving the car starts to jerk and stalls and when I come to a stop my rpm just goes up as if I'm stepping on the acceleration but when I let go of the brake the rpm drops n the goes sound less as if it's going to turn off then it jerks n drives this is a serious issue a couple of times I almost got hit from the back and while driving this car has turned off or jerks and makes weird noises and I only have 61k mileage on it something has to be wrong.

60 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/20/2019

I'm writing to complain about how Ford handled the safety recall 18s32 / NHTSA recall 18v-735 . When I got the letter in the mail that my car was recalled for this part that could cause the gas tank to collapse I took it to my local Ford dealership and they reprogrammed the valve , which to me is just putting a band aid on the problem and not repairing it. 11 months later the part failed and when I took it back to the dealership to have it replaced they charged me for the repair. After talking with Ford motor company they are telling me that this is their policy. My opinion is that the part should have been replaced on the first visit. This will cause safety issues if left with the faulty part on the car. Can you check into why Ford has such a policy in place ? thanks, scott.

61 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2016 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/20/2019

Day 1: gas meter is showing I have 1/4 gas left in car then all of sudden car shuts off, I go and put gas in and then when I start it up it started up rough then shut off. I go to turn it on again cranks for a few seconds and then it started. Felt like gas tank was actually empty and struggled to put fuel through gas lines. Day 2: 3 days later I have a little more than a 1/4 tank of gas as I am driving the gas meter started to go up to 3/4 of gas. That is strange. And car is sputtering like if it had no gas.

62 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2016 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/14/2019

Car stalled while driving. There is a current recall for valve issues but does not cover my vehicle. Tank was less than half full, no engine malfunction light, but it appears not to be working.

63 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2016 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/14/2019

Car has stalled twice. Once while at a stop. Once while driving. The latter while my tank was less than half full. There is a vacuum/valve issue that Ford has recalled Focus vehicles on, but not my vehicle specifically.

64 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/14/2019

Car stalls at will, gas gauge & miles to empty always wrong, low fuel indicator light never comes on and has huge problem w/ acceleration. It often shakes violently when I hit gas pedal, also takes forever to get up to speed. If it's not shaking violently then it just stalls, literally dies, will not restart. Forget fuel gauge. Not only is it always wrong, it changes at will. I go up or down a hill, gauge & miles to empty changes. Low fuel indicator never lights up so who knows how much gas I have. Last two times it stalled on highway at 65mph. Engine just cut out, died & would not restart. Has been to dealership 3 times in 3 weeks for same issues. First incident, kindle Ford in cape may court house, NJ had it 9 days over labor day holiday. Finally advised repairs eligible under recall however waiting for parts, specifically fuel tank, which according to fedex was in transit. lucky for me he said, finally had loaner available. I'm walking to get loaner when suddenly tech yells over that my car is done! what? he just said tank was in transit! reluctantly took my car only to have it die again. Had it towed to kindle again and he said car started right up for him after he put gas in it. He implied I ran out of gas because gauge was pinned on empty. I had put gas in it that morning. Gauge indicates it was low but it was not pinned on empty (see photo). And if that was the case, warning light never came on (see photo). Now they are saying they can't fix it until they replicate problems for themselves. As if I was lying! car doesn't do it when they drive it so what do I do? I'm afraid to drive my own car but I have to go to work, etc. I just hope my son & I aren't killed when car unexpectedly stalls again while we are on the highway.

65 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/14/2019

The fuel tanked is deformed and the fuel gauge reflects one-quarter to one-half of a tank of fuel when it is actually empty. The recall notice indicated the fuel tank could be replaced if deformed. My fuel tank is deformed and I mentioned that to the service advisor. He didn't seem interested in my concern. Not knowing how much fuel is remaining in the tank is a real problem. The tank is deformed and should be replaced as per the recall.

66 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/11/2019

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that he received NHTSA campaign:18v735000(fuel system, gasoline) 19v515000(fuel system, gasoline). The contact experienced failure while pumping fuel into the tank which failed to indicate the mileage causing the vehicle to loss power and shut off without warning. The vehicle was taken into the dealer jim click Ford Lincoln: 6244 e 22nd st, tucson, az 85711 877-777-9263 for a diagnosed test which was performed and determined that the purge valve needed to be updated and replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the vehicle received the same failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the recall repairs was replaced which no further assistance was taken. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000. Ck.

67 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2016 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/03/2019

My 2016 Ford Focus was serviced for fuel system recall 18s32 on July 12,2019. A code was reprogrammed. This did not fix the problem of the engine sporadically stalling and it still poses a safety risk. Returned to Ford dealership on 09/03/2019. Car was still stalling and "check engine light" was on. The check engine light coming on after the powertrain control module had been reprogrammed is a direct indication fuel tank is damaged -Ford recall 19s22, with a fuel tank deformity which needs to be replaced to correct the safety issue. Ford dealership power Ford in albuquerque,nm refused to do the cpv replacement, carbon canister replacement, fuel delivery module and fuel tank replacement as recall 19s22 clearly states is the responsibility of Ford motor company to due because of serious safety concerns. Multiple online consumer reports state this that if it is serviced for the recall and then check engine light comes on it is a direct indication it needs to be fixed by Ford motor company because of faulty manufacturing- which damages the gas tank(fuel tank deformity. It is their obligation to fix the vehicle before an accident does happen. Passengers in the car daily are a 10 month old and 2 year old , who could be gravely injured because of the car stalling-especially on the busy freeway the car travels everyday. .

68 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2016 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/30/2019

The update was done on the pcm due to vehicle not starting and fuel gage saying empty when I knew it had more than half tank. Now it is doing the same thing only worse. It worries me that this has cause my ignition to go bad as well due to this recall.

69 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/29/2019

We purchased a 2012 Focus for our 18 year old daughter as her first car. The check engine light is illuminated and the car shudders as you accelerate like its shifting gears but it's a very aggressive jerk. Once it reaches certain speed it drives smoothly but if you stop at a red light or stop sign and accelerate again it does the same thing. The fault code for the check engine light states it's a catalytic converter problem. I did some online research and found a recall for what I thought was the cause of the issue (recall 18s32). Took it into the dealership to have the recall repaired and they reset the pcm but tech told me the gas tank "passed inspection" so no further repairs were needed. However, the car still shudders at acceleration. I was told I'd have to pay $135 for them to diagnose the problem. I am so afraid for my daughter who is a fairly new driver to be driving this unsafe vehicle. I will be searching for a class action lawsuit as I've read several complaints of the same issue on this website. I don't feel comfortable selling this car to anyone else with these problems either. Ford really needs to rectify this problem immediately before someone gets hurt or worse, dies! the car has 101,000 miles on it.

70 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2017 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/24/2019

There was a recall 18s32 campaign fuel tank deformation issued late 2018. The pcm system was not adequately detecting a stuck open canister purge value. On August 24th, 2019 I took my vehicle to get the recall repair due to stalling without notice and dangerous in drivability concerns. On August 25th, the following day, I had the very same exact symptoms. I took it to pepboys to diagnose, and the same codes were populating for the recall. Pepboys advised to take it back to a dealer. I then took it to another Ford dealership on October 22nd for a second opinion, and they stated that the canister purge valve was sticking. On October 24th, the vehicle was returned back to me and within a couple of hours same symptoms. On Nov 5th, 2019, I was advised the canister purge valve was replaced after the parts were on bo for 2-3 weeks. However, car started driving the very exact way followed by service engine light and transmission overheating warning. Additionally, the car did not accelerate when attempting to make a left turn and a diesel had to swiftly hit on their breaks to prevent crashing into me. The vehicle was returned back on the 8th of November, however, dealership stated they were unable to duplicate concern. On November 13, the vehicle was picked up and on November 14th I had to take it back due to the same issues. On November 30, I was advised that they notice a clutch slipping, vehicle rev high when trying to reverse or accelerate. However, vehicle operating as design. This is not the case. After 6 attempts in trying to rectify this issue, it is not. My safety is a concern here as the vehicle is not operating as design and currently remains as is.
