This vehicle hesitates upon acceleration, lowers rpms, jerks making a clicking noice and revs up the rpms once it accelerates it has hesitation and is notifiable that the transmission is changing gears there is a lag as if it was a manual and the operator could not change gears appropriately. The vehicle also tends to roll in a reverse motion as if in reverse upon inclination. Upon engaging the brakes there is a popping noise. The vehicle also sounds as though it has the key in and isnt turned over completely to start at times vehicle it turned off, in park, without key in the ignition, and remained this way for any period of time. This 2014 Ford Focus was manufactured 6-17-2014 in the michigan assembly plant.

This vehicle hesitates upon acceleration, lowers rpms, jerks and jolts making a clicking noise and revs up the rpms once it accelerates(there is a noticeable delay) it has dangerous hesitation/ delay and is notifiable that the transmission is changing gears there is a lag as if it was a manual and the operator could not change gears appropriately, and grinding noise. There has also been a noticeable smell of burning rubber when occupying the vehicle. This vehicle was taken back to the dealership and I was advised that the transmission has to learn your driving habits and seal itself up I was given a paper on the transmission, and advised it should correct itself in 2000 miles. Well it hasn't, and this poses a dangerous and inanimate danger to my family as well as others on the road at the same time as I am in this vehicle. This is unacceptable manufacturing and fraud Ford motor company should be held liable for this vehicle as well as the others they maliciously and intentionally manufactured to only increase their personal welfare and greed without the compassion of human life, and integrity of their products. I have bought several Ford vehicles, and been loyal to a company that has a low moral and customer service standards.
I placed my car in reverse at an incline on my driveway I triple checked the tail lights, gears on dash and on shifter knob to verify that the car was in fact in reverse however my car instead moving in reverse was moving forward. I checked again and let go of gas and again it creeped forward. Placed it in neutral and it too went forward as well (triple checked the vehicle to be sure I was in the right gear). This car gave no warning of what it was doing or that the transmission was malfunctioning. Other problems the transmission does is that it shudders on acceleration, meaning its shakes like a manual transmission car when this car is in fact an automatic. It's shakes a lot in turns, low speeds, and just on acceleration without a full and complete stop. I have taken this vehicle time and time again to Ford and I they are only doing the minimal work. Ford has restarted the transmission computer and only once did they remove and changed a part of the transmission (clutch was removed and changed). I believe that they are waiting for a fatality to happen in order for Ford to have a recall. I know I am not the only person having these issues. People driving the 2013 Focus and fiesta are having similar issues. I have tried the lemon law only to be told that I was aware of what I purchased and that is that. . . . They may tell what technology is in the vehicle and how this saves gas however they forget that the consumer is not an expert mechanic! please help!.
I was driving on an interstate at highway speeds in a completely flat section of the road and had been approximately 20 minutes in my journey when I noticed my car started slightly shuddering. When slowing down for a merging vehicle, my vehicle went to over 5000 rpm (automatic transmission by the way) and my speed dropped, dangerously dropping my speed in a passing lane to 20 under the speed limit. While making multiple attempts on the gas to accelerate the speed, my rpm's kept going up and my acceleration kept declining with cars swerving until I could get into the righthand lane. I have never had an accident or any difficulty with my vehicle as I purchased it new. Further, I have noticed that even though I have an automatic transmission, when stopped at intersections or lights, if I let up off of the gas at all, my car rolls backwards much like a manual transmission would do, which now that I know the transmission does this, I am aware, however on uphill stops I find it difficult to not roll backwards in switching between the brake and acceleration if a car is closely behind me, stopped. I have taken my car to a Ford dealership for it to be looked at, and the customer service rep at my local dealership (where I didn't buy the car) states that the transmission issues are common in Ford Focus'ES of this model year -- and Ford is aware/the dealership is aware -- yet they "can't find anything actually wrong by guidelines" for the car. It's a safety hazard and needs to be dealt with immediately! I expect a new car with no accidents to run smoothly!.

2009 Ford Focus 4 door, the driver side door will not open from outside. The door locks do not work all the time and you will get locked in and have to crawl over the seats to get out. The problem is that there is only one key hole on the driver side but it does not unlock the other doors so you cannot get in since the door only opens from the inside if it is unlocked. You cannot manually unlock the front doors but you can crawl over the seats and pull up the rear door locks or climb out the windows. Ford has not issued a recall on this and I see several people with the same problem. This is very dangerous especially if there is an accident and you cannot get the doors open. I guess it will take a death before Ford will do something about it. My son has to keep the doors unlocked so he can get into a passenger door and open the inside latch to get into his car. I got locked in and had to crawl over the front seats to get out since I thought he was joking. We have the door panel off and door lock assembly out so now I am on the hunt for repair parts. The handle seems to be in working order but the latch is not. We lubed it but it keeps locking up and you cannot open it up to see what's wrong with it. I think Ford wants people to spend a fortune to fix the problem or just buy a new car that you can't afford.

My car locks fine, but sometimes different doors will not unlock. It started with the driver's side rear door, one day it just wouldn't unlock with the key fob or manual. It has now done this with all the doors except the driver door. My concern is that when this happens, whichever door it is cannot be opened, so what happens if I'm either locked out of my vehicle or I'm locked in during a crash?.

Vehicle is equipped with Ford's 'automatic/manual hybrid' transmission. Vehicle began stuttering about a month after purchasing. Purchased vehicle brand new in January with 44 miles on it. When accelerating from full stop, vehicle shudders as if there were issues with the air intake, fuel, or transmission. Took vehicle back to two separate Ford dealerships (including where vehicle was purchased) and was told that that's just how it runs. Previous car was a manual. Whomever is operating the clutch under the hood, needs a lesson in driving! feels like vehicle is going to stall every time.
When trying to drive in about 5 inches of snow, the traction/stability control kicked in and made my car go about an 1 inch a minute. Ever since that incident, whenever I start from a stopped position, the car will stutter and sometimes slow down after starting even though I have my foot on the gas. This is not a problem if there is no traffic, but in heavy traffic or fast moving traffic, a person can get run over. There have been several times that the flow of traffic has had to either stop or considerably slow down while my car is slowly getting up to speed. I have taken my car in and the dealership says there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. They state that it is running properly. I have tried to trade in the vehicle and 1 dealership told me that they have heard of this problem by other Focus owners. We have a friend that also has the same make and model, but it is an automatic, and they say they have the problem as well. So this is not just a problem with the manual transmission model.
Complained to service writer when I brought the car in with the stuttering problem when I start to drive. Was told that it is because Ford had redesigned a manual transmission to make it automatic to increase the gas mileage. Was told to bring it back if got worse. It has and much worse, now it not only shutters but it has a knocking sound. I noticed a black ring around the area where the two pieces are bolted together. I have to drive 24 miles to work each day on the interstate and have major concerns about being stranded on the side of road. I was told that Ford had got it's act together finally and decided to get the Focus se. Worst mistake I made. Should have bought the kia soul like I planned or the chevy cruze.
I understand and appreciate that the automatic transmission in this car revs and tends to behave like a manual transmission. I owned a celica with a manual transmission years ago. However, on several occasions this Focus has decelerated, paused and then lurched forward and I was powerless to accelerate it or alter its "lurch". It tends to make a wind up noise on these occurances. It occasionally hesitates when I apply the accelerator from stopped. Sometimes the hesitation is longer and more pronounced than at other times. I have taken this Focus to the dealer on five occasions since I bought it new in September of 2013 and it is diagnosed with a code 7000 and the dealer has to keep the car overnight because the transmission needs to be reprogrammed from Ford headquarters as I understand it. The dealer also may perform a drum adaptive learn strategy and adaptive learn drive cycle. When I leave the car seems to have "settled down" and runs more smoothly and quietly. It also gets substantially better mpg. On April 2, 2014, at 17,995 miles, I took it in because it was hesitating on acceleration and jerking and noisy. The Focus had a cracked motor mount. And again the transmission was given its usual computer update from Ford. Currently, the Focus mileage is at 21,300 and it's winding itself up, jerking me around, hesitating and lurching. Two days ago, I was making a left hand turn into heavy traffic and, as I stepped on the accelerator to pull out, the Focus did not respond for a few seconds. At that point I had to brake because it was too late to enter oncoming traffic. This is very worrisome for me especially since my son drives the car as well and he is a novice driver with one year experience. In March, I was travelling and rented a 2013 Ford Focus and drove it about 500 freeway miles. It seemed on it's best behavior.
My transmission doesn't work right and never has, from the minute I drove it off the lot. It jerks, very hard at times, it shudders, and worst of all, it hesitates, so when you pull out at times you pray it kicks in before you end up getting hit and killed. I told my son after less than six months of owning this car that if I get killed because of it, I want him to sue Ford. They refuse to fix it because they don't stand behind their products! they don't care if consumers get hurt or killed, obviously. It looks good and rides good, but is a lemon because of the trans. They maintain that it only makes it miserable to drive, but they doubt you'll get killed, so refuse to help. These are some sort of transmissions that were converted from manual to automatic and not very well, at that. I've been to three dealers and they won't help, saying their hands are tied because corporate doesn't feel it's going to kill anyone. I thought I would buy a Ford, being from se mi. Talk about misguided loyalty! just because nobody's been killed yet doesn't mean it won't happen. It doesn't work, plain & simple. And if it's this poor now, what will happen in another year or two? I am beyond disgusted and completely frustrated with this uncaring company who sells you junk for top dollar and then refuses to help you with a problem that is totally and completely their fault!.

2001 Ford Focus se 4 door sedan. 67,140 miles. Turn signal will not turn off automatically once turn is completed either turning left or right. Have to now turn off the signal manually. Happened on my way home from work on 7-19-2011. Nothing yet has been done to correct the failure other than an internet search to determine what might be wrong.

This is for a Ford Focus zx5 (4-door hatchback). At 90k miles passenger back door lock assembly broke and had to be replaced. Replaced under extended warranty and cost $90. Now the drivers back door lock is broken. It will not work manually or electronically. My children are able to open the door whether the car in in park or drive since the entire latch and lock assembly needs to be replaced. This is definitely a safety issue. Paid for the door to be checked and the replacement part and labor is approx. $350. Door locks should never fail and in my case both back doors have failed.
Both the front and back drivers side doors can be locked either electronically with the remote or manually by hand. The front drivers side door handle wont operate from the outside. It has been fixed twice already and now broken for a third time. This seems to be a widespread problems with the 02-08 Focus. A little googling will show just how often this happens.

Manual door latches on 4-door, key entry. Use of key to gain entry on both front doors began a gradual failure. Had to work the key, apply pressure to the doors, etc, until both locks failed to open with key. Twice had put children in the car, accidentally locked doors, then unable to open doors with keys. Ford says it isn't covered by warranty, althought the problems first started appearing when the car was only 2 years old. For the past 2 years, had to leave the vehicle unlocked. Eventually had an auto body man disassmble the doors, lube the lathes, and the work again, althought they are starting to work intermittently again. New latches are $120 to $160 each if you can find them.
The storage trays became extremely hot when driving for an extended period of time with the heater on, especially when directed to the floor only. In the owner's guide book there was an error that stated; am/fm stereo with single cd/mp3 premium should be for a 6 cd unit as noted by the cd 6 above the cd slot.
I have had this Focus for about 2 years. When I purchased it, I was not told of any of the possible mechanical problems that may be associated with the model. Since then, I have had 4 recalls repaired. Recently, the door handle on the driver's side door was getting stuck. Now, the factory installed security system will not work. I cannot lock the driver's side door at all and I must lock the other 3 doors manually. My key chain door locker does not work at all. The inside button for unlocking the trunk will not work either. The front console is too big for the car and coffee cups will not fit into it. I also seem to have trouble seeing behind me when trying to look to the left from the driver's side due to the placement of the headrest.
