1 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2017 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/24/2019

There was a recall 18s32 campaign fuel tank deformation issued late 2018. The pcm system was not adequately detecting a stuck open canister purge value. On August 24th, 2019 I took my vehicle to get the recall repair due to stalling without notice and dangerous in drivability concerns. On August 25th, the following day, I had the very same exact symptoms. I took it to pepboys to diagnose, and the same codes were populating for the recall. Pepboys advised to take it back to a dealer. I then took it to another Ford dealership on October 22nd for a second opinion, and they stated that the canister purge valve was sticking. On October 24th, the vehicle was returned back to me and within a couple of hours same symptoms. On Nov 5th, 2019, I was advised the canister purge valve was replaced after the parts were on bo for 2-3 weeks. However, car started driving the very exact way followed by service engine light and transmission overheating warning. Additionally, the car did not accelerate when attempting to make a left turn and a diesel had to swiftly hit on their breaks to prevent crashing into me. The vehicle was returned back on the 8th of November, however, dealership stated they were unable to duplicate concern. On November 13, the vehicle was picked up and on November 14th I had to take it back due to the same issues. On November 30, I was advised that they notice a clutch slipping, vehicle rev high when trying to reverse or accelerate. However, vehicle operating as design. This is not the case. After 6 attempts in trying to rectify this issue, it is not. My safety is a concern here as the vehicle is not operating as design and currently remains as is.

3 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/20/2016

At an intersection, the car sputters from a stop and sometimes stalls. Likewise, after re-fueling the tank the car stalls 2-3 times in a row on ignition before starting and staying on. When approaching a stop, the car has sometimes had the other dashboard warning lights come up and felt like it was about to stall, with the rpm gauge bouncing around near zero, but has not fully stalled during deceleration (possibly due to me pressing on the accelerator to prevent the stall). The service engine soon light came on shortly after this began. At that time, the fuel gauge also began to "stick," not moving from position until the car would be stopped and restarted, and mis-representing the number of miles left before needing to refuel. I'm currently at a Ford dealership to get inspected and repaired. I've been told that it has something to do with a pump, but nothing more at this point.

4 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/09/2014

My car was in the shop about 4x's in 1 month. Issue began driving about 45 mph. Went to accelerate felt a sudden jerk & nothing. Look down to see my drive light flashing & am steadily decreasing in speed with no way to accelerate, like in neutral. I luckily was able to get out of oncoming traffic, put the car in park which began to flash. Accelerated a couple times to be sure it responded before driving but the service engine light was on. Driving again, about to make a left turn, not a mile down the road, same thing happened. This time put it in park, accelerated & nothing. Shut off my car to reset it & my car would not turn on. After waiting for the tow truck, the car would just not turn on, everything related to the battery would turn on but the car didn't. In the shop this 1st time a total of 3 days, still unsure about it being fixed (because they just fixed the "electrical" part, not the issue) lo & behold when I turned into my neighborhood same thing happened (drive light flashed & accelerator didn't respond). I get home to park & turn on my car, after attempting to turn it back on, nothing. Another tow truck came the next morning to get it, this time my car was there 7 days. After 2 days of driving the same thing happened I was on a hill almost began rolling backwards into another car until I put it into p & pulled the e break. Car went in they stated that they figured it out & I hoped 3rd x's the charm. Nope, I was on a highway had to pull over away from oncoming traffic decrease the risk of me being hit. 9 days in the shop after ordering a transmission control module for my car & replacing it, it works. Although I was just informed that the same thing is now happening to a friend with a 2013 Ford Focus. It's something that needs to be looked into because loosing the ability to accelerate in the middle of traffic is very dangerous life threatening & scary.

5 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 05/30/2013

While driving at around 15 mph, my car started to accelerate even though my foot wasn't on the gas. I looked at my dash to confirm cruise control was not on (it wasn't) and noticed the service engine light was on. If I didn't touch the gas or brake the car would accelerate up to 30 mph and stay constant at that speed. I rode the brakes to the local Ford dealer. They inspected the car and determined the issue was the throttle body sensor, and said I had to replace the entire throttle body. Cost was $400 for the part and $230 for labor. This was not covered on the powertrain warranty I still have.

6 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2000 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/15/2003

While coming home from a house warming in tucson, az on 06/21/03 me, my 2 nieces, and my daughter were on the fast lane of the freeway coming out of tucson when the engine started losing power, the car started slowing down to about 25 mph we had to cross 3 lanes to get off the freeway with other cars coming at 65 to 70 mph we almost got hit on the last lane before exiting the freeway. The car then sputtered the rest of the way off the freeway. After sitting for a while we were able to start it again. And continue home but we used frontage rd all the way. I am afraid to take it on the freeway anymore. Sometimes it does want to start at all. The door on passanger side also doesn't unlock with power button. Service engine light comes on with battery light and oil light. I feel someone will eventually be seriouly injured unless they find out what is wrong here.
