1 Tire Bulge problem of the 2004 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/10/2008

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Focus. The vehicle has pirelli p6 tires. On March 2, 2005 and December 21, 2007, the tires went completely flat on the vehicle. The dealer replaced the tires, but it was undetermined which tires were replaced. It was later discovered that another tire had rotted and it was also replaced. On a different occasion, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. It was found that two tires had severe dry rot on the sidewalls and a rapid wear down. The mechanic suggested calling the manufacturer of both the vehicle and the tires. Pirelli tires was notified and offered the contact 25% off the purchase of new tires. The failure mileage was 19,392 and current mileage was less than 30,000. Updated 10/20/08. The consumer stated one of the tires would not hold air and the ohter tire had a bulged. The consumer believed the reaming two tires were showing rapid deterioration.

2 Tire Bulge problem of the 2002 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

: the contact stated the front passenger side tire tread separated from the tire, destroying the front control panel of the vehicle. The tire indicated the recommended psi as 34 and it has been kept to that standard. The tire was approximately one year old when this incident occurred. There was no abnormal bulging and the vehicle had no vibration. There was also no more than 15000 miles on the tire.

3 Tire Bulge problem of the 2000 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/19/2002

While driving the left rear tire locked up causing the rear of the car to break loose. Inspection revealed ~1/8" of lateral movement in the left rear wheel/hub assembly. Dealership determined that the left rear wheel bearing had failed. The failure caused destructive damage to both rear tires, the left rear tire has a significan flat spot wile the right rear has a bulge in the sidewall. Dealership refused to replace the tires under warranty claiming that the problem was related to the firestone tire warranty despite the fact that the destruction of the tires was a direct result of the wheel bearing failure and not in any tire failure.

4 Tire Bulge problem of the 2001 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 06/01/2002

Consumer has taken vehicle in for repairs to tires on numerous occasions for repair due to nails. There also appeared to be belt damage and a bulge on the outer side of tire wall (left front). (firestone p205/50r16 firehawk gta tires).
