I bought a new 2007 Ford Focus and it is four months old with 20,000 miles on it. The tires are bald with different patterns. The tire that concerns me the most is the one that has a wave like pattern on it. The dealer said its normal wear and tear but all the people including mechanics I showed it too before I went to Ford said they had never seen anything like it before. I am concerned that there is a major defect that could seriously injure someone.

I was westbound on 5th st. In olivehurst, CA, and headed to olivehurst drive. The conditions were dry and cool, and the speed limit was 25 mph. I had not yet come up to the speed limit (below 10 mph) when my front end began to shake. Seconds later, my passenger and I heard a loud bang, and the front end swerved sharply to the right. I tried to correct to the left, and ended up clipping a pole (on the right side of the road) instead of hitting it head on. My passenger sustained a blow to his knee. No other injuries occurred, and we did not feel it necessary to call an ambulance. As there was minimal scrapes on the power pole, and my car was not covered for collision damage, I did not notify the authorities. My right front tire was bent inward, and the tire was blown down the center of the tread. Upon replacing the tire with the spare, we found that the a arm had separated from the rotor, and the right cv axle had pulled away from the transmission, effectively disabling my car. The tire in question is a goodyear eagle rs-a p195/60r15; the original tire from the purchase date of 9/13/05, and with less than 27,000 miles on the odometer. The tires were close to bald prior to the blowout, and I had been considering taking them in for a warranty replacement due to their short lifespan. I have had prior tire rotations done at larry geweke Ford in yuba city, and they had not informed me of any tread wear problems at the time for this particular tire. This type of defect could have easily killed myself and my passenger if it had occurred at higher speeds.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Focus. The vehicle has goodyear eagle rs-a tires, size p19560r15. The contact stated that the tires were defective and the steel belt was visible. Due to the low mileage on the tires, the failure should not have occurred. He also noticed wear on the tires. The contact took the vehicle to the goodyear dealer and they replaced all four tires. Recently, the front tires malfunctioned. The dealer replaced the front tires in December of 2007 with kumho tires. There had been no further occurrences since the replacement. Currently, the rear tires are defective. The purchase date and dot number were unknown. The current mileage was approximately 75,000 and failure mileage was approximately 26,000.
The contact stated that while traveling at 60 mph heard a loud pop and then lost control of the vehicle. The car started spinning around and hit an exit sign. The vehicle was totaled. Upon impact, both airbags deployed. The tire came completely off the rim. Both insurance and police reports were taken. There has been no contact with goodyear. These were the original tires that came on the vehicle. There were no injuries.
A grinding noise was coming from rear of the vehicle. Driver noticed that the vehicle would drive roughly. Driver took vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and replaced the all four tires. Then, driver informed the mechanic that the problem still occurred and had not been resolved.
The front tire on driver's side showed a 6-8 inch length spot on the inter tread of the tire, and both rear tires showed signs of high and low spots running diagonally. Dealer inspected the tires, and informed consumer that this problem was not caused by improper wheel alignment. These tires were original , pirelli tires, size p205/50r16, and dot# xaw1e1991403.

We own a 2002 Focus and have firestone tires on it. 205/50/16 I did a little research and found that a very similar tire 205/55/16 has been recalled. We are having the same problem as the tire that has been recalled. It never occurred to me that they where still selling firestone tires after they quit dueing business with them. The dealership and Ford are giving us the same runaround as they did with the other tire problem. Does any one know of any body that has problems with the tires on the Ford Focus. Please contact me at. Donald j. Reed ansbacher@sbcglobal. Net thanks. Here is the info. Make: firestone model: p20555r16 build dates: Jul 16, 1999 - Nov 01, 2000 recall number: 01t006000 summary: â tire description: firestone firehawk gta-02 , size p205/55r16 89h, produced at the wilson, north carolina plant from July 16, 1999, through November 1, 2000. Two of the four original equipment tires were replaced at 25k miles due to separation in the tread. (at the same time, both rear tires).
Tread separation on firestone firehawk gta p205-50r16 tire. I was told by firestone dealer # 591289 (johnstown, PA) that the tire was "cut" on the sidewall due to abuse. This tread separation is clearly due to a defect as if it were a "re-cap" in my opinion. I also had the tires looked over by an independent tire retailer who concurred with my suspicions.
The first thing that I noticed with my car was the stalling of the engine while driving down the road. The next thing that happened was the car would shake violently while driving at speeds of 50-55 mph. At 12036 miles, I took it to a dealership and was under the impression that the repairs would be covered under warranty. They told me car needed an alignment. It also need the rotors turned and the tires rotated because at 12000 miles they were starting to wear. They gave me a bill for $101 they stated these items were "wear" items and were my responsibility. I questioned why this was happening at 12000 miles. He tried to put the blame off on me saying I brake too hard. You know that is really funny since I have a 1995 Ford escort. I bought it new. It now has 170,000 miles. I have never had any problems with the escort. The reason I bought another Ford was because I was so pleased with the performance of the escort. About the stalling, they said they put it on the computer and could find nothing wrong with it. But they went ahead and replaced the spark plugs. Well, about a month ago, I began to notice the shaking again. Then about a week after the shaking began, I had a flat. I called the dealership. They told me the new tire was not covered under warranty. I had the one tire replaced at my expense. The tire business told me the tire was so wore on the inside (where you can't see) that the wires were showing. About 2 weeks after this incident, I had another flat. Same thing. The tire was so wore the wires were showing. I had to have all four tires replaced. $300. 00. The car is still stalling. I am afraid to drive this car. I am afraid the car will stall in traffic while I have my two year old child in the car. I have complained to Ford and they continue to say these things are my responsibility. But I don't think they should be my responsibility if a defect in the car is causing these things to happen. Ts.
Premature tread separation after only 11,700 miles.
Rear passenger tire thread separation: driving to work at 8:40a, on a 3 lane freeway plus a carpool lane. I was in the middle line, when the car vibrated. I thought I could get to work to take it to a dealership. Drove another 1-2 miles, when the vibration became violent. I swearved into the fast lane, cringing and waiting for someone to hit me, since I jumped into their lane. I attempted to straighten the car , but was losing control. I veered back to the 3rd lane and then fishtailed , heading for the center divider. I crossed over into the fast lane and the carpool lane , stareing at the wall. I managed to struggle with the steering wheel to turn the front of the car away from the wall, just in the nick of time to fishtale away. My left rear bumper sideswiped the wall as I headed back across overall 4 lanes, to the right shoulder, where I came to a stop. It was a miracle that no one hit me when I first went out of control. It was a miracle that no one slammed into someone else, as they slowed down to let me continue stay " out of control" until I came to halt. It was the most horrifiying 20 seconds of my life. My life was spared, and so was someone else's, if the time had been different. I had to purchase another firehawk tire and firestone request that I mail them the damage tire!!! how do you mail a tire!?!?!?! insane.
There is a vibration felt in steering wheel when driving at freeway speeds. I have had the car aligned 2 times, replaced the tires 3-times, replaced the brakes 3-times and had the tires rotated and re-balanced 6 times, in two years. I have had all of the recalls completed. The vibration still exists and the dealer cannot fix it. The dealer just keeps telling me to get the tires re-balanced, or get new tires again.

Firestone, firehawk, p205/50r15, dot unknown, original equipment on a 2001, Ford, Focus with 6600 miles. While driving 30 mph front passenger tire had a blowout, driver's front tire experienced tread separation.
Rear front tire tread separted from a check up. Firestore, p19560r15. Dealership is aware of problem.
Rear tires had "cupping" wear around the tread. Ford dealer said it was because I did not rotate the tires (front tires are ok). Firestone dealer used alignment instruments that showed the rear was out of alignment. Firestone, as do I, believe the car was not properly aligned coming off the assembly line. Firestone said that they had seen many Focus models with premature rear tire wear problems. (tiresize: p195/60tr1).
Complete tread separation - I have the tread. (tiresize: p195/60tr1).
Pe00020, original equipment on 2000 Ford Focus, tire size p19560r15 and dot # v6v91rr859. Front passenger's tire tread came off completely which may have caused a crash. Firestone was not willing to assist consumer because itwas not part of the recall. * ak the customer replaced all 4 tires at own expense.
Pe00020, tire tread separation: while driving about 45 mph tread on the driver's front firestone firehawk tire came off. Driver was able to control vehicle. Tire size p19560r15. Original tire equipment on a 2000, Ford, Focus. Tire mileage 9,000. Firestone and Ford was contact about the tire. Please provide any further information.
I have had the car for 2 months, it had 55 miles on it when I purchased it. I was going 25 miles down southern parkway and the tire blew out. What I mean to say is that the tire literally fell apart. I have pictures of this, it is something that needs to be seen to be believed. ( dot number: de559p tire size: p125/60r15 ).
While entering freeway at about 45mph front driver's side tire tread separated, causing damage to fender. Tire did not deflate. Firestone wants to have the tire.
