Three out of four 215/45/r17 douglas tires bought at walmart in piqua oho ended up with bubbles on the sidewall a week after the year from the day they were bought. One right after the other. When I went to have them replaced at a discounted price, I could not because I had to put a spare tire on (it is considerably smaller) causing the tread on one tire to be slightly uneven from the others. So this voided the warranty. Now tell me how passenger side and driver side front tires both end up with sidewall bubbles and one blows out within a week apart? nothing changed in my driving routine. Bought two nearly new tires to maintain my ability to get around, and a third tire develops a bubble and had to be replaced. The last tire is slowly leaking!? I drive to work and back. I live less than 2 mins from my place of employment. I do still have my paperwork from buying the tires. Btw the warranty was never registered correctly because when I tried to call about it they had no idea where to find it. I had to send all sorts of paperwork to them and still got no results.

All four original tires replaced, balanced and front end alignment completed 11/23/20 at pep boys. The new passenger front and rear tires developed sidewall 2 inch "bubbles" over the next several months and I have replaced the front passenger at my expense. The rear passenger (shown in the photo) has yet to be replaced. The front sidewall bubble possibly was due to slight abrasion but should not have occured.

A mechanic noticed that the inner sidewalls on both front wheels were splitting (as if along the seams) on the goodyear weatherhandler 215/45r17. The tires were fixed before any blowout occurred, but goodyear refused to take responsibility. Three separate mechanics from different garages had never seen anything like it, and confirmed that it did not occur from daily wear and tear.

Today, 6/11/15, a blister was noticed on the sidewall of the left rear tire. Ford declined to pay for the tire.

One tire ruptured hole in sidewall resulting in flat driving down highway. Took tire in to be replaced. None of other tires reviewed by tire center. Independent company found remaining tires to have "bubbled" sidewalls. All tires from same batch. Tires are only two months old and tire center will not acknowledge that the batch is defective. (how could all four tires go bad in two months?).

I recently had a tire failure. I am not sure what to call it as the entire middle section of rubber came completely off. There was only a small amount (if any) sidewall left (I have photos). I took it to a goodyear dealer who replaced it at a "prorated" rate although my understanding of the warranty was that it would be completely covered. I had it replaced and paid the $80. 00. I also contacted goodyear to make sure this was their policy and that my transaction was handled correctly, I included a photo with my correspondence. They informed me that it was their policy and the dealer had contacted them about my incident. They also assured me that a tire should not do that and they are sorry about it. I am feeling that this is a very dangerous possibility, if it had been a front tire I would not have survived the incident as I would have lost total control (goodyear tire).

While vehicle was parked consumer saw the separation of the front driver's side sidewall tire. Consumer had the tire replaced. Dealership will be notified.
First incident occurred when a pothole was struck with the right front, causing a blister to the sidewall and a slight bend to the rim. Upon review of the shallow depth of the pothole, I could not believe it caused a problem. One week later, the rear tire on the same side showed a blister. The rim was fine and have no recallection of hitting anything. Another week and another pothole. This time a flat, on the same front. Now a severely bent rim; on the inside. The rim was repaired and the tire reinstalled. However, no new blister occurred on the inside wall. I have made this same commute for 10 years with other vehicles shod with off-brand tires, and never had an incident of any kind.

I wish to report a possible defective tire. On Nov 20, 2004,I purchased a 2004 Ford Focus se. With 5. 914 miles. On 12/9/04, while driving along the interstate freeway, my car's tire blew out. Upon examination, there was several blowout tears along the outer sides of the tire. I reported the incident to the local Ford dealer who referred me to goodyear. Goodyear said they believed the tires failure was caused by tire "under pressure" and a nail puncture. The goodyear technician made a determination upon visual inspection based on ripples along the tear marks were caused by under pressure. The Ford dealer made the same explanation as did goodyear. However, I disagree with the opinions of both Ford and goodyear. Request an examination of my tire to determine if there is any tire or belt manufacture defects. My tire is a goodyear eagle, rsa version, size p195/60/r15. My tire is available for inspection to determine failure.
I have a 2001ford Focus. My daughter just had a blowout of the front tire while driving over railroad tracks in danbury CT. The tracks do not stick up very much. This is the 3rd blow on this car. The car only has 35000 miles on it. The tires are firestone firehawk gta 02. I have looked on the internet and many other people with the Ford Focus have this problem. They also claim they are an all season tire and if you look on tirerack. Com everybody says they are terrible in the rain and snow. They are the lowest rated tire on the site in their relative catagory. My brother talked to firestone when the first tire blew out and they said they would only prorate the tire. They didn't feel the tire was defective. We ended up getting 2 different brand tires and those are fine. I now will go and purchase 2 more, I will not wait for the 4th tire to blow out! they still have plenty of tread on them so its a shame, but I feel these tires definitely have a manufacturing defect.

The firestone firehawk gta-02 original tires that came with my 2001 Ford Focus zx3 have a defect in the sidewall. Multiple large bubbles and small separations in the rubber of the sidewall are obviously apparent. This could result in a violent tire malfunction especially if traveling at interstate speeds. I contacted a firestone dealer and was told because there is no tire recall at this time, I would have to pay full price for new tires for the same tire made by firestone which will probably malfunction also. These tires are dangerous and there should be a recall.
My son was almost killed along with drivers on the freeway below the overpass he was on when a 2 week old tire blew and he instantly lost control of the vehicle. In viewing this tire, I found it to look as if it has dry rot all around it. Little tiny holes underneath the treads all around as if eaten away by termites or something. For a new tire it is older looking than the other 6 month old tires. I know no one who would lab test the material, but in my gut something is very wrong with it. It blew from underneath a thick new tread that has no punctures on top. It is a firestone/firehawk p205/50r16, dot# w2w11tb0804. My car is a total loss, but my son made it through ok thank god. I took it to the dealer mgr I purchased it from and he outright disagreed and started to take the tire from me saying he would have thier lab test it, but I have little trust for thier lab. I need help in reviewing this. I have no car and I feel it is because of an accident caused by a defective tire. Insurance does not pay comprable to the vehicle you had. I had only one last payment to go. My son and many other people could have been killed. Buying tires is like a game of russian roulette with life and death. It seems we all just accept that fact.
I have had bulges develop in the sidewall of two firestone firehawk gta 02 tires that came as original equipment on a 2003 Focus zx3 hatchback. The first tire bulged at 3800 miles and the dealer reluctantly replaced that tire. Now at 11,500 miles a second tire has a bulge in the sidewall. The first bulge I attributed to a manufacturing defect. Now that the second tire has bulged, and many others report similar problems, I think firestone has another big problem developing. Ford/firestone should be made to replace all of these tires at no cost.
Front wheel aloy rim is bent due to faulty firestone firehawk gta 02 205/50r16 tires with weak sidewalls. Tire has bubble on sidewall dealer stated firestone problem not Ford problem. The dealer refused to replaced the tire and rim under the warranty because they believed the dented rim came from the vehicle hitting a rock or pothole. The bent rim caused the tire to have bubble on it. The dealer ultimately replaced the tire but not the rim. The new tire was good for about two weeks and while driving on the interstate it punctured and destroyed. The bottom line is that the firehawk tires have design flaws and should be recalled.
While driving down the highway at 60 mph the left front tire on my car suddenly blew out. It was a failure of the sidewall. The tire was a goodyear integrity size p185/65/r-14. The sudden blowout caused 900 dollars damage to my car and the dealer and tire manufacturer refused to pay.
Bulge formed in the sidewall of the original firestone firehawk gta 02 tire, size 205/50r16, as provided as original equipment on my 2001 Ford Focus zx3. The bulge seemed to include the area where the steel belts join with the sidewall, so I had the tire replaced immediately for fear of a tread separation event.
Tire sidewall too soft to protect wheel rim at recommended mfg. Pressure. Rim bent just driving over common drive way curbs. Had to replace alloy wheel .
On 5/27/03 during reg oil/filter/tire rotation at firestone,5417 mccardle, corpus christi,TX I was told one tire had a compression bubble"impact break on sidewall". I replaced it. On 5/29/03 another tire self destructed with no apparent reason. I replaced it (50% discounttires were firehawk gta-02(I do not have tires and do not see a dot# on the remaining two. I called firestone warranty, spoke to chuck and requested 2 new tires at no cost as I do not believe in coincedences and the safety issue. I said I paid for two and firestone should pay for two. He said he would call firestone cc. I called today 6/6/03 . He said he never called and had no memory of promising to make such a call. He ended by saying that firestone would not give me two tires he apparently does not have a screen for incoming as I had to retell my tale. His initial response was when firestone had complaints on the 99-2000 hawkeye, they voluntalily recalled and replaced- yea sure; voluntary vs. Administrative action. Please investigate and respond thank you arthur berman.
2002 Ford Focus - firestone tire failures. Bubbles in tires, eventually blow (2) or need to be replaced. Have purchased 5 tires. No problems. Also rims are dented. No pot holes encountered to cause this. No accidents to cause this. First bubble in rear driver's side tire at 6,000 miles. Replaced tire with another firestone. Tire blew at 18,000 miles. Replaced tire again with non firestones (2). Bubble in two remaining firestones occurred. Replaced again with non-firestones. No problem. Ford denies problem. Firestone denies problem. I have a problem with both. Am purchasing 2006 monte carlo in September, ba bye.
Daughter drove home from hi school. Heard it suddenly release pressure at low speed. Drove home another half mile. Ford had road service put the donut on. Tire is with us until Saturday when we'll go get a new one. Long gash thru sidewall as well as drive tread. Second small crack in sidewall that why off of main gash. Mr.
The firestone firehawk gta-02 original tires that came with my 2002 Ford Focus zx3 appear to have a flaw. Shortly after purchasing my Focus, I noticed a "bubble" on the right front tire's sidewall. The other three tires have been fine over the past ensuing 21 months so I have to be believe that this one tire was flawed coming out of the factory. My Ford dealer will not replace it without charging a full price since there is no known recall on this particular tire. Yet, I see now through the NHTSA that there are several "sidewall bubble" complaints against this tire model. Please add my complaint to the list, since I have driven a lot of cars over the years, and never saw a "bubble" pop up like this . . . . Seemingly out of nowhere! tom.
Left rear, and right front and rear have lost both air and sidewall chunks in spectacular fashion. Tires are brand new and deployed in normal driving use. (dot number: 260 tiresize: 195/60r15).

This incident occurred in canada. I have a canadian address. The province is ontario and the postal code is n8t 2j2. The car was rented from enterprise rent a car. Tire pressure was correctly set. Ambient outside temperature was 30 celcius. Entire sidewall of tire separated. Photo of tire will be available upon request. (tiresize: p185/65r14).
Rear tire sidewall blewout causing vehicle to spin out of control at 360 degrees for three times.
This spring my daughter had two tires blow with sidewall problems. The first time, she hit a pothole going about 25 mph and the sidewall went out. She replaced this tire. Then about one month later, she was driving on an interstate highway. She had passed two trucks and went back into her lane when something did not feel right. By the time she could slow down and stop, the tread of the tire came off in a large circle and dented the side of her car. The wheel was also damaged. She claims that she did not hit anything. There is no damage to the tread of the tire to indicate that she did. However, the sidewall was shredded. Now we are concerned about the tires. I did not see the first tire, however, she said that the sidewall had a huge hole in and the tire could not be repaired. Have there been other reports of problems with these tires? on the other hand, after seeing the damage done to the tire, we feel that the Ford Focus handled very well, allowing her to get off the road safely and avoid an accident.
