1 Tire problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 04/07/2025

Had brakes and rotors replaced 4/07/2025 and both repair shops indicated that the front passenger tire is bulging but they state also that these are not in warranty since they were only purchased 11/8/2023 and are an 85,000 mile rated tire which I purchased all new, with balancing and alignment at time of purchase. Mavis where I purchased them refuses to fix this problem stating they aren't in warranty any further which I don't see how when I definitely didn't drive 85,000 miles in less than a year and a half. When looking up this tire it seems they're not easily available at this point either.

5 Tire problem of the 2006 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

I was commuting to work on highway 59 northbound just south of the gessner exit at 65 miles per hour when I heard a loud explosion and I nearly lost control of the car. My vehicle is a 2006 Ford Focus zx4 with 15 inch standard alloy rims. The left rear goodyear eagle gt tire had exploded without warning. I saw smoke emerge from the wheel well as I brought my car to a stop on the exit ramp at bissonnet. I called my husband who came out to change the tire and upon removal we discovered that the entire tread section from one edge of the rim to the other had completely come off and was stuck in the wheel well, leaving the rim bare. There was light cracking on the rest of the set on the inner part of the tire near the rim. The tires were purchased on June 17th 2011 at discount tire and only had 23,000 miles of wear on them. They had been regularly rotated and inspected at discount tire on schedule. The dot number on the tires is m7rb k11r 1511. I contacted goodyear customer service today and they told me the tires are not under recall. My wife could have been killed by this incident.

6 Tire problem of the 2002 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 05/09/2014

On 05/09/2014 at approximately 1750 hours I was traveling southbound on interstate 95 adjacent to mile marker 99 located near stuart, florida when I suddenly felt a very strong vibration and loud noise coming from the front right axle, immediately after the front right tire tread separated from the tire causing me to loose steering control of the vehicle. The vehicle eventually came to a full stop and upon further inspection on the shoulder it was revealed that the separation of the tire tread caused significant damages to the vehicle to include front right fender dents, braking ac refrigerant lines, front headlight assembly, side marker and the plastic cover that goes underneath the wheel well. The tire is described as a firestone fr380, 185/65r14 86s with dot e26l 38b 3110 a30. The vehicle was towed to a pep boys shop in jupiter, FL and the tire was taken to the tire plus store located in jupiter, FL to be exchanged. The tires were originally purchased and installed at tires plus on October, 2010 at 77,600 miles and overall the tire had less than 20,000 road miles when the entire tire tread separated. Pictures of the tire are available upon request, thank you.

9 Tire problem of the 2009 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

I bought a set of tires at sears in utah, the invoice said 75,000 miles/warranty. After 29,000 miles on my car I notice lost of tread. I communicate goodyear by doing a complaint with bbb ( better business bureau ). Goodyear told that sears did a mistake, tires warranty in 65,000 miles. Goodyear agrees to reimburse part of new tires set and I disagree, my concern is that tires fabrication lot could have defects that could cause major consequences. I notice that michelin tires had same problems and they did a recall. Information about those tires: dunlop signature - 195 60/r15 88t m+s dot (1) mkrb 1xhr 2011 and (3) mkrb 1xhr 2111. Just in time, goodyear authorized sears to do a tire inspection and sears notice and confirm lost of tread.

12 Tire problem of the 2011 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/16/2012

Ford Focus tires 2011 Ford Focus problems with tires/suspension and warranties purchased 2011 Ford Focus new 20 months ago (with kumho tires, evidently installed at factory) and it has had regular dealer(s) maintenance. Took to purchasing dealer - (luther) north country, coon rapids mn for regular maintenance on November 16, 2012 with 35,366 miles. Was told that tires were 2/32 showing cord (several 1" by 3" spots), 2/32, 4-6/32, and 4-6/32; and dealer recommended 4 new tires (tiger paw) costing $561. 95. I asked and was told there was no price reduction from either Ford or kumho warranty. Note that Ford tire warranty guide booklet states 30% for 24k 36k miles; kumho (web) states 60k mileage coverage and 40% for 36k. Incidentally as a conservatively driving mechanical engineer, both my new sable and ranger met/exceeded tire mileage coverages. I have been happy with north country, but have lost confidence with Focus and kumho tire company; just got new tires from a local, well-regarded, tire shop; and think Ford/kumho should reimburse me at least $180 (30% of the new tires cost). Note: I hadn't imagined 60k miles tires going through the cords at 36k miles. We recently returned from a 4500 mile mainly interstate trip. If it had been much longer, a tire might well have blown. On the interstate.

13 Tire problem of the 2008 Ford Focus

Factory pirelli tires tread depth after only 15191 miles on new 2008 Ford Focus ses---2 tires @ 2/32 and 2 tires @ 3/32. Dealer and pirelli won't accept responsibility. (car driven in local small town). Not happy!.

14 Tire problem of the 2009 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/02/2012

I purchased a Ford Focus 2009 a yr ago from the kia dealer ship in rapid city sd. The car had about 18,000 miles on the car. It was in excellent shape. I have had the car just over a yr and it has 28,000 miles on it. I was traveling to aberdeen sd , got an oil change and was told that all 4 tires were wore out. The mechanic stated that this is usual for the Ford Focus and they have had many problems with this vehicle. He told me that I have to align the car more often to avoid this happening again as it will happen again. Tires should last longer than this. I was traveling and could have wrecked my car as I was told that the tires would not need to be replaced until around 60,000 miles. I am lucky I did not crash when I was traveling. I did purchase tires for 600. 00 and would like Ford to take responsibility for this defect on this vehicle.

15 Tire problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/14/2012

In June 2012, my daughter was driving and her front passenger tire exploded. This was the 3rd set of new tires we had placed on this vehicle (by 30,000 miles - averaging 10,000 miles per set of tires). Then in July 2012, she was driving home and started to skid. She was not able to recover from the skid and hit a tree head-on. The front of her car was destroyed. The tree centered her car and the front end looked like a Volkswagen bug. The air bags did not deploy. We had this vehicle into the dealership 3 times for problems with the front end. Each time they said they could not find anything wrong with it. However, the driver and passengers could feel the car sway when riding it in. The vehicle was totaled by the insurance company ($17,000 check sent to Ford) and we still owe $1700 that we have agreed to pay to Ford to keep from ruining our credit. Thank god she was wearing a seat belt that actually worked - otherwise we would have had to plan our daughters funeral. We purchased this car because it was advertised as being a very safe car with the interior wrapped in air bags. Wrapping the interior with air bags does not help if they do not work. I have been buying Ford automobiles for 30 years but, right now I am wondering how safe my Ford f-150 is. We are now considering hiring an attorney.

16 Tire problem of the 2011 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

The car has poor steering, poor suspension control over bumps, an acknowledged but unrepaired transmission mount, severe alignment issue, tires are feathered and cupped per dealer and dealer is not willing to fix it. The care is unsafe to drive but the dealer states if we do not purchase new tires, pay for an alignment that they will not fix the faulty transmission mount. It has been at 3 Ford dealers in the past 3 weeks. I said nothing is wrong (thomas Ford in beverly MA), next fixed a bearing and 2 suspension parts and said it is fixed (it was not) (danvers motor company, danvers MA) and finally the selling dealer said the alignment, tires and transmission mount are faulty (jack madden Ford, norwood, MA). This care is unsafe and is under bumper to bumper warranty.

17 Tire problem of the 2003 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/01/2012

I was driving my 2003 Ford Focus on the road when this incident happened. Suddenly I heard a crash sound in the right front side of my vehicle. I felt there was a force on the right front side tire. Then I noticed black smokes behind my car and then I stopped. I called aaa to have roadside assistant. The aaa guy came and checked my car and told me the coil spring was broken and the broken part damaged my tire too. I found there was a recall for the coil spring on 2000-2003 Focus then I called a local Ford dealer to get it fixed. However, the local Ford dealer told me my Focus was not eligible for the recall. Clearly this is the fault of Ford. The aaa guy told me if this happened on the freeway, I would probably be killed. I urged the NHTSA to contact Ford about this issue before this actually killed lots of people. I also urged Ford to place a recall to check all the coil spring on all cars they make to make sure this part has no problems.

18 Tire problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 06/20/2012

When making a left turn from a main road onto a side street I encounter massive grinding noises coming from what sounded like my left front tire area. I thought maybe it was my imagination. From then on there is intermittent noises coming from that area (sounds like plastic rubbing on something) I took it to the dealership on sat, 7/14 they did a visual safety exam and found nothing wrong but they did rotate my tires just in case. I am also experiencing a grinding noise when pressing on the gas from about 0-20 mph (going straight) (sounds separate from the grinding issues under the tire, but I am unsure if this is related. I am scheduled to take the car back to the dealership on 7/19 to see if they can find a problem. Very frustrating as this car is just over 6 months old!.

19 Tire problem of the 2010 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 05/30/2012

I bought this car new with 182 miles on it. I had all of the service performed at the dealership where I bought it (all-star Ford in palestine, TX), beginning with the oil changes. At the first oil change, I had the tires rotated. After that, I had them rotated at every other oil change (without exception) and at 18,940 miles, I am told that all four of the tires are "cupped" on the inside tread. All the dealership wants to do is sell me more tires and suggest that I have them rotated at every oil change. For a car that has less than 20,000 miles on it, this is unacceptable. My first reaction was to put it back into the showroom! right through the glass windows! but, I refrained. Nonetheless, this is a design defect and should be corrected by the manufacturer.

31 Tire problem of the 2009 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/06/2010

Uneven tire wear, replaced tires at 20,000 miles at 34,000 miles I'm almost ready to replace them again. I took this Ford Focus in so many times, had 4 alignments. The last time it was in they said I must have had a accident since they noticed there was a scrap on my bumper. (a scrap and a impact are two different things isn't it?) well, I was told that before I bring the car in again I needed to take it to a body shop to check the frame. I took it in and they said there was no frame damage on this car. I called Ford again and they said they wanted to take the car to there body shop to have the frame checked. So, when that was finally done I ask the guy what is the verdict? he told me there was nothing wrong with the frame on the car and it was mechanically sound. I asked him "so what are we going to do about the tire wear?" he told me it was normal wear and tear since there is nothing wrong with the car and that I should rotate my tires and have alignments every 15,000 miles. This car is 2 years old and it has had 2 sets of tires, almost ready for a 3rd, 4 wheel alignments, sync replaced, pcm, replaced, motor mounts replaced, the transmission shifts hard at random times.

34 Tire problem of the 2008 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/20/2009

My wife took our 2008 Ford Focus in for a routine oil change and tire rotation. The dealer stated they could not rotate the tires because the rear tires were bad. The "cords" in the rear tires had broken inside the tire and now they are out of round. They said they are not under warranty because the dealer did not have record of rotating the wheels (because I had done it at home for free). I have been on many internet tire web sites and the pirelli tires are known for this happening on smaller vehicles.

The rim remained on the car. The tire was changed to the spare and a new tire was purchased and mounted onto the rim. Slight bent spot in the rim after this incident.
